Sadly, if you dig in your nice leather bag and find the label, chances are it says MADE IN CHINA. It's unfortunate that we are surrendering our manufacturing capability. (WTH) Outlet stores: A place where the manufacturer displays an alternate line of merchandise and suckers you into thinking you got a bargain. Kate spade is a definite stop if you're going to be at the outlet. The reason is they have great sales all the time!!! The best sale I've stumbled upon was 60% off everything in the store which is huge!!! On a typical weekend, they'll have sales that are 40% off, but there are selected items that will have an additional 20% off. I also really enjoy their clearance section Bc sometimes you can get some really great finds. I found a cute little purse that went from $135 to $42. I love their designs because it's simple, clean lines, and elegant for any occasion. They also have bright colors and not just your typical dull ones. The quality is great, which warrant the pricing, and the stuff isn't plastered with a logo, so it's nice but not trying too hard to show off. The staff is great and very attentive, even when the store is crowded. They can calculate the pricing for you so you know what to expect before getting to the counter. Also, many people don't know this, but they do have student discounts (15% extra), so if you're a student, take advantage of this!! read more

It might be odd for a man to be writing this review about the Kate Spade Outlet, but I am here quite frequently and this is the reason why: First off, this store carries what are usually last seasons bags -- that is, if you want a Winter bag, shop during Spring or Summer. So, the bags that are in stock here, come and go QUICKLY! Yes, quickly. If you see a bag that you want (or in my case, a bag that I was going to give as a surprise gift) BUY IT THEN. Don't wait, and say, I'll come back the next day, especially if its a one of a kind. You'll be sorry if you do. Don't end up like me not being able to deliver that surprise bag. This applies to mostly what is in the clearance section -- they seem to have adequate numbers of last seasons bags near the front of the store. The prices are fairly discounted for a Kate Spade bag -- usually 30% off full retail prices. Every now and then, you will find one in the clearance section near the back of the store at 40-50% off the original price of the bag, bringing them to within SOMEWHAT affordable prices. Then again, if you're coming in here to think you'll be getting out of there with a bag under $150, you'll be disappointed. I typically do not review retail stores, I like to stick to food-THAT is my passion, but i have to rave about this place. Let me tell you why: I first visited this store around the holidays, although it was very busy I still got all of the service I needed. I noticed that the sales girls were walking around with calculators, giving shoppers the correct pricing on the merchandise, they would even add up tax before you got in line for the register, so you knew how much you were spending. It was pretty packed in this tiny store, yet every time I picked up a handbag, a sales girl suddenly appeared with her big calculator and smiling face ready to tell me the bottom-line price; I was very impressed, the service along with the generous discounts and promotions they were offering was great. I ended up purchasing an all leather purse in black, i loved it. About a month after my initial purchase I decided I needed that purse or something similar in gold. So, I decided to call the store and see if they had anything of that sort. Well, I had kept my receipt. When I described the purse and gave them my ticket number on the phone, they informed me that they had several bags I would like. They asked me for my email and sent me individual pictures of purses This to me is going above and beyond. I called back and said I'll take picture #4 and number 2! and it was that simple! They waived my shipping, took payment over the phone and within 3 days I had my two bags. This experience is as close to " personal shopper " as you can get. This was phenomenal service, especially from an outlet. Since then I have become a die-hard fan of Kate Spade and whoever that wonderful salesperson was that I dealt with both over the phone and by email- you are awesome, and thank you for making me a convert! I visited here last week because it was the last day of their sale. I have to say it was such a nice experience. Two ladies were assisting me with my purchase. One was very Zooey Deschanel like and the other was a cute girl that had a name that began with an A. Sorry I'm really bad with names. Anyhow both were very helpful. They encouraged me to walk around and throw things into the bag I liked, to get a feel for it, to check myself out in their mirrors. They were not in a rush, were definitely personable and friendly. I mentioned needing a travel tote and we got into random conversation about how Portland seems like a hip place now and hidden spots to eat in downtown and so forth. They were both really nice and made shopping there a delight. I was also impressed with the selection. Sometimes you see outdated bags you won't find at the retailer store but I found a lot of the same things at both, and newer items from the line as well. I never noticed Kate Spade made necklaces and found them comparable to the jcrew statement necklaces. I think the next time I come here i'll definitely be shopping for some of their dresses and accessories instead of bag shopping. Again the staff really made my shopping experience a pleasure. I prefer Kate Spade over Tory Burch any day. Their collection here is fresh, new and not the "reject" items from other stores. I really like the selection of wallets, purses (LOVE!) and planners. So cute and fun. It's not an "in your face" label, which can look gaudy and pretentious. It's subtle and chic. The sales range from 30-40%. I asked one of the ladies there if there were any big sales throughout the year and she said she's only remembered it being 50% off during Thanksgiving time. So if you're willing to fight the crowds during the holidays, go for it. Other than that, I think their current discounts are a steal! The service here is great as well. Very friendly ladies. Kate Spade Outlet had an amazing sale the weekend when I visited to purely window shop. Unfortunately, there was a torrential thunderstorm that caused minor flooding! I thought I had avoided the rain when it had passed through my part of the city, but I failed to realize that it traveling in the direction of Kate Spade! Oh well. The fact that I drove through a crazy storm to get to this shop made my husband say, "There's no way you're not buying anything when we drove through that!! It would make this trip pointless!" Kate Spade was crowded with shoppers hiding from the rain, as well as shoppers roaming the crazy sale (additional 20% off items already marked 50% off). I ended up purchasing the Newberry Lane Small Loden, which is black saffiano leather with gold plating. Saffiano is one of my favorite leathers for purses, because it's sturdy and scratch resistant. The purse was originally $400 and the discounted price with taxes came around $140. Awesome deal! I am now a Kate Spade fan, but I'm never driving through a crazy storm again just for a purse... read more

I received my first Kate Spade handbag last July and fell in love with the quality and comfort of the shoulder straps. From then on I have been a faith customer. Not to mention this location is a mile away from my house. My boyfriend purchased a black handbag at the San Marcos location for me. However they didn't have the matching wallet. 2 weeks later my brother got me the matching wallet from this location and I was too excited. The staff is very friendly and I never have had any complaints with not being helped. Not to mention it was 40% plus and additional 30% off! Can we say WINNING!!!! I went to this kate spade outlet and bought some purses. And I also wanted to do price adjustment over one item that I bought several days before, however, the guy (manager) worked there did not allow me to do price adjustment even though I brought the receipt and within only 3 days of purchase, he said that I need to bring the purse in order to be able to do price adjustment. I have never experienced something like this in any other stores. I live far away from this outlet and it wasted my time to go back home and brought the purse to do price adjustment. Love Kate Spade but not this one. I will stick to the Katy location. I walked in on a week day(not busy) and they had not one but TWO ladies standing at the front. They both looked at me, neither one greeted me. After me a couple came in and they immediately start greeting them letting them know the promotions going on in store. I work Retail and one of the first rule of thumbs is to acknowledge the customer.. i mean the store couldn't be more than 2000sq ft. Even the people at the back of the store could have seen me. I shopped on Saturday, March 22, 2014 and was helped by a brunette girl who worked the exchange register. I walked in during a heavy sale day, immediately found her and said,"baby bags?" She not only showed me every single baby bag there and totes that could be used as one, but she offered to fo check the boxes in the back for me. She came out about 5 minutes later and said she was checking other stores for a bag she thought id like. She then tracked down THE perfect bag in San Marcos and got me all the paperwork to order it shipped to my house. I just had to hand her the paper with my info and was done - no waiting in line. My bag arrived today with a special note from Jennifer P. in San Marcos with a heartfelt message from her wishing me luck. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this store! The staff is always friendly and sweet. I love their handbags as well, it's great quality and super cute. I normally stick to blacks and creams but there have been a few times where their staff has suckered me into a bright color bag, which I don't regret. The staff always knows their stuff and the prices are really affordable. There's one bag I've had for almost 4 years and it's held up great with everything I put it through. They always have some sort of great promotion as well and you can tell that the staff is always glad to help you not, they're not just doing it because they "have to".
