I knew going into this project that all the floor scratches would not come out with a cleaning and buffing, but they led me to believe some would and the floor would at least look shiny again. The floor looks worse, even though they came back out and took off the wax they put on, which they were not supposed to do in the first place. The floors look horrible and they are in my parents home who are 91 and 93 and they are sick about it. I should have just left well enough alone or listen to the other companies that came out and not touched them. The salesman was nice until I explained my disappointment, then I was told it is what it is!!!!!!!!! Never again. Buyer beware is all I can say. read more

We recently had them out to our home to remove carpeting and replace it with LVT and Oak flooring on the stairs. The stairs were completed with the fit and finish of master craftsmen, it is absolutely beautiful! The removal of the carpeting and floor prep is usually disgusting and messes up the rest of the home. The crew at our home kept the mess to an absolute minimum and at the end of the day the project area was clean and organized. The best compliment I can say is that they knew the project, timing, and scope of project. The best part is we paid what we were quoted and had no overages or nonsense up sell. The crew is trustworthy and I find the entire process was performed with the utmost integrity. No wonder this is a fourth generation company! Do not hesitate to hire them. Kater floor service was AMAZING!! Phil was great returning phone calls prior to the job starting. His sons did a beautiful job pulling out our gross carpet in all rooms and laid vinyl plank. Very nice guys and professional and very detail oriented!! Our floors are gorgeous!! I didn't feel uncomfortable leaving our place for errands. They had to remove the tile from our bathrooms and didn't up-charge. Very happy with the family owned business and the passion these guys have for doing beautiful work!! read more

Kater Floor refinished my first floor flooring. The work was of average quality. When they finished, they did not replace the side boarding and paint, as they had promised. I waited a few days, surprised they did not return, and then I realized they had collected the second payment on my credit card without asking for my authorization. So, like for the other reviewer, they were not going to complete the job. After 6 months, boards began to pop-up. I also read the company's response to another complaint, and I would like to highlight that they currently have no rating with the BBB, not an A+ as written. Hire this company at risk, but if you do, get everything written in a contract, as they promise work they do not perform. Do not make the final payment until you are satisfied with the work (good luck with that!) and write this in the contract. read more

I do not understand any review for Kater that is less than outstanding. I live in a 3-story townhouse, that was pretty well-filled -- with carpet and tile throughout. I asked Kater to replace virtually every square inch with new wood flooring.I had to empty every room and hired them to take on the project. Their quote was not the least expensive nor the most. It appeared reasonable to me. I must tell you that the project was daunting: I had to live in the space during the work. They made sure I was comfortable throughout. I packed the smaller objects and they moved my furnishings around. The floors they installed were beyond beautiful: the care they took and the craftsmanship could not be equalled. This is a family business, and I liked that, as well. They came to my house every day -- worked Saturdays and Sundays to get the job finished -- and then they moved me back to the bedroom, they even made the bed! I have worked with a number of contractors over the years so I am not unexperienced when I say that if you want anything done with your floors, there is no better place to go. None. They were immediately responsive to every concern, responded immediately to any text or email. At the end of the day, my floors are outstanding -- I enjoyed having them in my house (though I was working and not there all the time) -- they were respectful, courteous and just generally nice guys. Their work has upgraded the value of my home and I am grateful for all the care they took. I recommend them as highly as I can. read more
