I have lived at my condo about a block away and for the last 30 years and for the last 15 years of my mother's life she lived with me as she was handicapped and used a wheelchair. Well, the spot where my friend placed the bench was exactly where I would wheel her out for the fireworks every Wednesday and sometimes on Saturday. Well, because it is a beautiful bench and had a plaque with my Mom's name it is used quite often and sometimes people do not respect the bench and so it was wearing down and I needed to have it sanded and retained.... I talked with friends and searched the internet quite thoroughly and found Chicago Wood Refinishing. I saw the website and the work that they displayed and decided to give them a chance and met with Kevin....actually, Kevin came to me at the site of the bench and surveyed the bench's condition and told me what they would be able to do to restore the bench to its original condition. Kevin came out a second time and removed the bench planks and took them back to their business offices, where he and his father did a phenomenal job in bringing the color and quality of the bench back to its first day it was displayed to me in July 2024. Kevin and his dad are fine craftsmen when it comes to wood....any kind of wood. Now my Mom's bench is back in use for those who want a place to sit and think....or to watch the fireworks on Wednesday and sometimes, Saturday night. After you stained it you jammed an ornate hook into the key hole and put the old hardware back on. It left imprints into the wood. You can see it now after I had to have someone else put the new hardware on. The stain is beautiful but you didn't listen to what I said. The first thing you did when I came was check the envelope for the cash without an apology. And if you try to say you have no record of me, I have the receipt and the pic of the desk in my house. Danlin rescued a midcentury family heirloom that had sustained damage to the wood, or as Dan the…read moreowner said, 'the wood was compromised.' The cabinet had also been 'refinished' by a friend of a friend, who basically did not know what he was doing and to put it mildly, by the time Danlin Conservators got a hold of it, the treasured piece of furniture, estimated to be around 50 plus years old, looked more than horrid. Word of advice: if you have old but fine furniture and really want to have things done right, have Danlin take care of it. Not only will you end up with a professional refinishing job, but they also address making repairs and doing what they need to in order to keep the integrity of the cabinet structure. My refinished cabinet looks like a new piece of furniture, and the early 1960s style hardware was cleaned up, shiny and gorgeous looking. They are located in west Andersonville, and there is parking available if you need to see the different finishes if you go with a different color.

Janet emailed me back immediately -- she was incredibly professional, friendly and communicative. On the day of my appointment, they showed up promptly and were very polite. They were very careful -- made sure to put down tarps in order to protect the rest of the bathroom from any dust/debris. The final product? I couldn't be happier -- absolutely gorgeous! They were able to reveal a beautiful counter I would have never thought possible underneath years of stains and scratches.
