Dr. LoVerme listens to what the patient wants. And I have found him to be very patient centered. I had as nose job, a face lift focused on the lower half of the face, and a laser peel 18 years ago. Originally the nose job was cosmetic, but when he opened me up it flipped over to medical because my septum was shaped like a "C" When the hospital found out and I was paying for it, and it was now classified as "Medical" they tried to up the hospital fee by 900%. Dr. LoVerme told them to back off and leave me alone, they grumbled about but they did. Dr. LoVerme has since installed a fully equipped certified surgical suite in his office so there is no hospital fee for most of the procedures he performs. Thereby saving the patient a lot of money. I have since had an upper face lift, liposuction and two laser peels I am going in to have my brow reshaped. He could have very easily agreed with me about doing a procedure that would have cost me about $4-5,000. Instead he recommended using a less invasive and considerably less expensive procedure to inject a permanent filler to achieve the same results.

The only thing she did was further humiliated me and make me feel worse about myself as a human being. She said she would not accept me as a patient because of my mental health but then she proceeded to make me get naked and touch me? Why would she need to do that if she wasn't even going to accept me as a patient? If you call to simply question her practices, she will hang up the phone on you (or at least think she will!) and then talk poorly about you to her staff. For the love of God, go somewhere else! After losing a significant amount of weight years ago, I decided the ongoing complications and…read morediscomfort from the excess, loose skin had gotten to be too much of a burden to keep dealing with, and looked around for a surgeon to perform abdominoplasty. I narrowed it down to 3, and, after meeting with them all, it was clear to me that Dr. Markarian was the right person to turn to (the others were great, but there was a clear difference in his bedside manner, dedication, accessibility, etc, and you just knew he was the one to choose). The surgery went well, but it is a big operation with risks, and a tough recovery. Having had many other operations and hernia surgery, I knew what to expect, and was ready for this. It's important to have realistic ideas of how things will go. Part of that was my resolve that what I would see at my first post-op appointment would not look good or resemble what I would call my ideal outcome. Between swelling, bruising, a relatively fresh wound, etc, I prepared myself to not like what I saw, and to suspend judgement. I even contemplated just not looking at it to avoid risking any disappointment or regret. Dr. Markarian said to me the night of my surgery when he called to check on me, and again in that first appointment that he was really happy with how it looked even when I was laying in the OR, and that I'd be happy with it, but of course he'd say that, right? I tempered my expectations, discounted what he said, and went for a look. I was honestly blown away. With literally zero expectations except perhaps being ready to be a bit horrified, I got to see something that honestly could look just like that and never get better, and I'd be happy with it. It was so much better than what I was coming from before the operation. I've worked really hard on my fitness over the past 20 years, and this was the first time I actually felt like what I saw outside matched who I was inside, under all that skin. If that's where I was starting from, the idea of how it will only get better has just been amazing. I'm now 2 weeks ago, and it is looking better, but obviously has a long way to go. My recovery is going really well because I'm following Dr. Markarian's advice and guidance on compression, cleaning and treating the area, the right level of activity (basic walking around the house or light errands like going for gas; but not going for a walk outside), etc. I'm also making it easier on my body to heal by eating clean and healthy, and trying to rest as much as I can (which can be hard because it's not the most comfortable thing to sleep propped up with tight binders around your midsection). And through this, Dr. Markarian has shown that the personality I read in that first appointment is genuine. He's been so open, responsive, kind, caring and just a good human being. He's also clearly a skilled surgeon who takes his work really seriously and puts a lot of himself into it. I honestly couldn't be happier with things, which is not at all something I thought I'd be saying at 1 or 2 weeks. I figured it would be at least 3 months until I would know if this was the right call or not. Just so thankful to Dr. Markarian. This is literally life changing. I'm sharing this in praise of Dr. Markarian, but also specifically because, as a man, I feel that men don't tend to talk about operations like this, or get them in the first place. We stay silent or just deal with it. I'm hoping this helps folks realize it doesn't have to be that way.

Would he have fixed it had we asked? I don't know. My daughter doesn't want to go through the surgery again. Patient Feedback: I…read moresaw this ENT for a minor ear issue. While I don't expect every doctor to have perfect bedside manner, my experience during this visit left me uncomfortable. The doctor asked about my profession, but before I could answer, he interrupted and guessed that I was an administrative assistant. While I've held that role before and respect it deeply, the assumption -- and the way it was delivered -- came across as dismissive and unprofessional. He also explained post-care instructions in a tone that felt overly condescending, including how to avoid getting water in my ear as if I'd never taken a shower before. I came for medical care, not to be talked down to. Additionally, the office staff didn't inform me that the doctor was running 30 minutes behind. A simple heads-up would have gone a long way toward showing respect for patients' time. I recognize that other reviews speak highly of this physician, so perhaps I caught him on an off day. Still, the interaction felt unnecessarily patronizing and left a poor impression. I will not be back. It's also worth mentioning that the office requires a credit card to be kept on file "just in case of charges." In all my years of visiting various doctors, I've never encountered that policy before, and it felt out of step with standard practice.

Dr Kieff seems like a pretty good ENT. The audiologist is very nice and (as far as I could tell)…read morevery competent & thorough. The admin staff, however... For some reason they use both MGB Patient Gateway and AthenaHealth, and it appears that they don't have either one set up properly. As a result, they besiege patients with reminders, confirmations, and early check-ins. Seven calls in less than a week. Text after text. (After STOP after STOP.) Emails upon emails. I called to make an appointment. No sooner had I hung up than the phone rang with their number. Thinking they were calling back to let me know there was a problem or something, I rather foolishly answered. Nope. Automated reminder about the appointment I had literally just made. Productive! And their response? Breathtaking lack of empathy, self-awareness, and responsibility. It's not their fault. Nothing's their fault. Never. Why are you even talking to us about this? Can't you see we're not interested? Twice as frustrating as all the calls and messages combined. "The computer did that, not me." Um, actually, only half the calls were from the computer. The rest were from two of them sitting five feet apart who didn't coordinate. Can't blame the computer for that! "We don't control that." Really? Who do they think controls it? Because we're old enough to see a lot of doctors pretty often in this house, and they're the only ones with this problem. And, as has been elsewhere observed, they have a bizarre obsession with having a credit card on file so they can bill the patient for whatever, whenever. On my first visit, I pulled out my Apple Card (which does not have any visible card information) and they just about lost their minds. They nearly refused to keep the appointment because they couldn't make a copy of it in case they needed to charge me later. (Spoiler alert: they didn't.) They had to get Dr Kieff to make a special exception to their policy. And, as with the notification problem, this appears to be entirely because they don't know and don't care how the technology the practice depends on actually works. While I was in the waiting room, the person ahead of me checking out was complaining about the exact same thing. And they got the exact same dismissive response I eventually got, along with some very unnecessary sarcasm. When my turn came, the minute I told them I was frustrated by this, they sternly told me to leave. (Which I did, never to return.) I think they knew I was going to ask to speak to the Doctor about it since they clearly didn't care. They're also the ones that answer the phones and open the mail. My guess is that while they surely generate a lot of these types of complaints, they're also able to keep those complaints from ever making it to the doctor. So I suspect Dr. Kieff, who, again, seems like a pretty decent ENT, is not aware of much of this. Which is a shame.

Things came to a head when I wrote an email to the office manager saying I had an unsettling and chaotic appointment, detailing what transpired. The response I received was shocking and infantilizing. There were many ways she could have responded or even apologized, but instead, my complaint was blamed on my PERSONAL CHALLENGES, yes, she wrote PERSONAL CHALLENGES! She ignored most of what I wrote, like how I was still upset that the last person who took X-rays left me with cuts and sores in my mouth for weeks, how I should not have paid for the X-rays- ZERO acknowledgement of this issue. I waited a few weeks to look at my records because I was still upset from our email exchange but now after reading the notes in my records, I am sick to my stomach. Exact notes including the soooooo and sooo from the person who cleaned my teeth. 6/16/20 -pt soooooo anxious about me cleaning her teeth today, she is sooo afraid of #8 falling out. Not noted, #8 (new tooth) fell out TWO TIMES. Yes, I was a hot mess (still am) with anxiety because of the tooth falling out TWO TIMES. 6/17/21- Patient's anxiety is very irrational due to having had an accident when she was 6 years old. WRONG and inaccurate - I was in the SIXTH grade (not 6 years old), I fell and knocked my teeth out while ice skating. It was during this time that my childhood dentist, Dr. Lucia of Lynn, MA, abused me while under sedation and was eventually arrested for insurance fraud. His shoddy and negligent work led to years of ongoing dental issues, which will continue for the rest of my life. I shared this information. I shared again and again that ANYONE in my mouth causes me anxiety. Even my last note is wrong. 2/29/25- patient NO SHOW. Not noted: 11/12/24 - I left this appointment in tears. I did not make or confirm my next appointment. I was devastated that I had a cracked crown and angry that the dentist did not discuss my gums after having had gum surgery in August. I may not have had a voice when I was in the SIXTH grade, but I have a voice now.

I'm someone who usually does a lot of research on any product or service that I buy. But sometimes I don't have the time and skip it, I wished that I hadn't with Dr. Mark Rounds since I have seen that he has a lot of negative reviews on various doctor ratings websites, and now I know why. Dr. Rounds is quite the harsh, brash buffoon of a doctor that doesn't want to take the necessary time to describe surgical procedures or medication side effects or whatever else really. When I had pertinent questions to my orbital "blowout" floor fracture his response was "stop reading up on stuff on the internet" quote-unquote exactly. Later on in the conversation it was the exact same response in another vital question. But for me that is unacceptable. I'm not going to rely on a doctor's decisions 100% without asking him questions on some of them. It is my eyeball and my face that we are talking about so yes I want to know 100% exactly what we are going to do and every ramifications thereof. I feel sorry for any other naïve patient that doesn't want to know all the details of a potential surgery, how can they be that credulous before being cut into. A relationship between a doctor and patient has to be very upfront, candid and open to all the necessary details of one's health condition and surgeries, and you won't find that kind of genuine sincerity with Dr. Mark Rounds.
