We were initially planning a March 2018 wedding, before finally settling on September 2018. Holly was great and very flexible with us changing dates around. I met Holly and her husband Bruce before hiring them - they left a great first impression, they are full of energy, professional & great people. Holly photographed our engagement photos in an unconventional way. My now husband was coming home from a 6 month deployment on a submarine & I wanted to have a photographer there and have those as our engagement pictures since we had gotten engaged right before he left on deployment. He came home from his last deployment in May 2017. Holly was very accommodating with our situation and not knowing a lot of details ahead of time due to operational security. The photos turned out beautiful, and we even got shots with my husbands family that was visiting from out of town. Holly made everyone feel comfortable and got through the pictures in a timely manner! Fast forward to our September 2018 wedding, I had sent Holly inspirational pictures that I wanted re-created on our wedding day & she made sure that we got them all! Holly and I had a phone call about a week before the wedding to discuss family shots and not to miss pictures, she provided lots of great suggestions along with taking my ideas into account as well. Holly was prompt on our wedding day meeting the ladies at the hotel and got to shooting straight away. I knew that Holly would blend in just fine with the moms and girls, she's professional yet personable. Bruce usually shoots with Holly on wedding days but he had a family accident and was unable to attend. Holly provided a wonderful substitute photographer - Derek of Derek Chad Photography. He was a wonderful addition and blended right in. You could tell that they had a great connection as photographers and worked well together! Holly and Derek were both extremely accommodating on our wedding day - they were available to us when there were group shots we wanted to get, yet they made sure not to miss all the details. The turnaround time for our pictures was phenomenal, I was in awe of how fast Holly returned the photos to us, she had the photos to us NINE DAYS after the wedding! I've heard of some people having to wait months, I'm very impressed with the turnaround time and the quality of Holly's photography! Holly was familiar with our venue and our getting ready location, the Coronado Community Center and the Glorietta Bay Inn. We were running a bit behind on the wedding day - Holly ensured that we were still able to get in all of the pictures and navigated Coronado like a pro! We are so pleased with the final product & the delivery of the product! I can't wait to display the photography around our future house and share with our families for the holidays. I hope to work with Holly in the future for all of our photography needs! I just received my images back from Atrero and am beyond elated at all the beautiful pictures of my…read morefamily. I personally have some background in photography so it was such a pleasure to have an opportunity to be in front of the camera for once. From start to finish, Karen was so great to work with. Her email and text communications were clear and organized (which I can definitely appreciate). Our session was with Karen at the beach with my kids, one of which was a typical 6 year old boy who was seriously all over the place. Karen was so patient with us and particularly in working with him, to still be able to capture the spirit of our true interactions. In family portrait sessions, I particularly appreciate the candid photos, because the posed ones I feel I can get any time, as well as often they don't look completely natural. In our photos, we looked natural even in the more formal shots - whoohoo! I received our files in a super timely manner - within 2 weeks of our session via Dropbox. She even made us a little video of highlights - which seriously melted my heart. This is the first family portrait session of a newly formed family for me.... so these images meant even more. Printed one large wrap for our wall right away and it looks stunning as we choose one of the timeless shots that Karen managed to capture for us. I can't stop looking at these pictures. We enjoyed keeping in touch with them through the planning process. We live in Las Vegas and only came to San Diego every month so or so they were definitely very flexible with timing and meetings. I definitely recommend using their complimentary engagement session (dependent on package purchased) as a way to break the ice and so you can both get a feel of personalities and style. On the day of Ed, Karen, and their assistant Desiree were on hand to ensure that every detail was photographed. It was a very hot day in October but they kept pressing on! The team had a list ahead of time for which formal shots we wanted. One thing I recommend (and it's my fault for not doing so) is to also provide a list or idea of what kind of non-formal shots you'd like. They were able to get the products (highlights video, online gallery and USB) to us within 2 months which is very timely for this service. The photos were beautiful and just our style. Would definitely recommend these wedding photographers to anyone!

We "interviewed" her by hiring her to do our engagement photos (at a VERY reasonable price), and liked her so much we chose her to do our wedding photos too! She is punctual and prepared, and likes for the photos to look natural- no awkward posey-posing. She lets you go with the flow with minimal direction. We liked that she wasn't bossy, she just would say, "Just hold hands and walk over there" or "Okay now kiss!" or "You are kind of doing a weird thing with your hand. Maybe try putting it in your pocket? Yes! Perfect!" "Now would you like to do a funny face one?" She is warm and fun and funny and made us feel comfortable during our shoots. I have worked with other wedding photographers before when I was in the industry, and I can tell which ones are in it for the money (little personality, bossy, borderline rude), and who does it for the beauty and art of it. Amy definitely loves what she is doing, and makes you feel her love and comfort from the other side of the lens. She was very patient on our wedding day when everything was behind schedule, and she captured so many sweet moments. Half the time I didn't notice she was there- sneaky ninja skills! She gave us a "sneak peek" of our images on her Facebook page right away both times, and mailed us a USB with all of our edited photos (there were LOTS of them, y'all!) when they were ready.
