    Hot Open Face Reuben Sandwich

Hubby and I stopped in for lunch yesterday. What a fantastic gem this place is! We were seated in the window table! It was so cute & cozy!! Our server Juliana was fantastic! I had a few questions about the menu, she was very helpful and super attentive! The owner Vivian brought our drinks to the table and was very welcoming! I had the Reuben with a salad & my hubby had the Turkey Club with a salad as well. Everything was so so delicious. I've never had a Reuben with red cabbage before - I loved it & the cornbeef was cooked & sliced perfectly! The salad with the house dressing which was already on the table was so flavorful too. It included red peppers, a green olive, hearts of palm & a beet. I was so full from my lunch but wanted something sweet so we decided to try the banana pudding... O M G this was the best banana pudding I've ever had! It was very sweet and really hit the spot. There were nilla wafers & banana slices mixed in. I also ordered English breakfast tea. It's served in such a cute tea pot! I highly recommend dining here! I cannot wait for my next visit! Thank you again to Juliana for the awesome service!

Wow‼ Kathleen's Tea Room exceeded all of my expectations. I haven't had a really nice cup of tea in quite some time, and we happened to find it completely on a whim by passing it while stopping briefly in Peekskill, and I am so glad that we did!! The decor is absolutely beautiful and it's really like taking a step back in time to the Victorian era. The molding, the decor, the tea pots and china, alongside the menu and huge selection of teas makes this spot absolutely amazing. I had the Irish Breakfast Tea and had the Swiss Cheese, Spinach, and Bacon Quiche with a cup of chicken soup and a mini salad. Even the dressing is made by Kathleen's and sit proudly in a bottle with her name on it. The vinaigrette dressing is flavorful and zesty. The chicken soup was hearty and so delicious. The quiche was above and beyond full of flavor and one of the best I've had in quite some time. The food really makes this tea room top notch. Lots of places have tea, but mixed with five star quality food and service and the ambiance, we have a win win!! Now my favorite part was definitely the scone with lemon curd and fruit. While I undoubtedly had no business ordering more carbs, how do you not get a scone with tea? The plan was to take a bite and take the rest home...yeah, that didn't happen. The scone was crispy and warm, fresh out of the oven, but it was also soft inside. With the lemon curd and butter...heaven. I literally have never had one as good as this one in the States ever before.

Kathleen's Tea Room sits across the street from across the street from one of my favorite restaurants in Peekskill so I've always been curious about it. I've never been to a tea room and it's not the type of place I would typically go to, but I was definitely pleasantly surprised by this place. From the outside it looks much smaller than it really is and there was much more seating available than I expected. When you walk in it kind of feels like your in a different era and has a very homey feel. The servers were very friendly and was actually able to squeeze us in without a reservation on a busy Saturday afternoon. I was actually surprised how good the food was. I was expecting little finger foods and expecting to still be hungry afterwards but I was definitely full at the end of the meal. We ordered the butternut squash soup and the chicken & rice soup which were both very good. The spinach and bacon quiche and the open Reuben sandwich were good as well. And of course you have to try the dessert scones, we ordered the trio. The tea was great as well. Overall, I can't wait to try this place a second time.

I simply love Kathleen's. It's such a special place: Perfectly decorated, wonderfully gracious and warm servers, fabulous food, AMAZING desserts, and such a strong work ethic and commitment to patrons, led by owner Vivian McKenzie. I feel so welcome here, which is why 20 of my church sisters and I make the trek many from New Rochelle, Mt. Vernon and the Bronx. A place that makes you feel special - and serves great food, as well - is stellar. Kathleen's is truly out of this world!

Simply put, Kathleen's Tea Room is our favorite lunch spot in Peekskill. It consistently delivers fantastic food with a touch of whimsy. That whimsy is evident from the first moment you approach the ivy adorned storefront on Main Street. When you walk through the door it's like you've stepped into an antique shop curated by Alice in Wonderland herself. Myriad tea kettles and other tchotchkes fill the room. Each table is topped with fresh flowers. Your eyes are drawn upwards to the late 19th century tin ceiling. If you're lucky enough to nab one of the elevated windows seats -- and you'll need to be lucky, reservations are highly recommended for this busy restaurant -- you'll really feel like you're dining in a storybook. Kathleen's is more than just atmosphere though. It just so happens to serve up some of the most delicious food in town.Ingredients are fresh, portions are generous, and each bite is filled with flavor. The menu consists largely of sandwiches, salads, soups, and quiche, along with some heartier entrees. Our go-to is one of the combos where you can get soup, salad (with killer caper berries) and either a half-sandwich or a quiche. To be honest, we wish their was a "super combo" where you didn't have to choose between the sandwich and the quiche because they're both so freaking good. For dessert, you just can't go wrong with Effie's Banana Pudding. And of course, there's the tea. We're not huge tea connoisseurs, but what we've had is great. They even offer a full afternoon tea, complete with a tower of mini-sandwiches, scones, and sweat treats along with pot of hot tea. We told you it was whimsical! Our only problem with Kathleen's? We wish it was open more! It's really a lunch place, closing at 5pm most days, and distressingly, closed on Sundays -- exactly when we'd be craving a Kathleen's brunch !On the flip side -- and we found out about this later than we would have wished -- they do offer delivery. So that's a nice way to add some class to your desk during the work week. Kathleen's is one of Peekskill's best, and definitely our number one spot in Peekskill for lunch with a heaping side of whimsy.

Kathleen's tea room is just fabulous. Whether you are a small group or semi-larger group they do well in accommodating. My favorite aspects about this venue are their variety of teas, their delicious soups, and the salads are a hefty and hearty portion. Certain times of the day and weekends get very busy though so reservations are recommended.

I don't know who was more excited me or my toddler. I called for a reservation for two after I read it was recommended. I thought they would sit us by the window since both areas were empty but maybe you have to be specific when you call. The place is really cute. The decor is oh so fancy. My toddler loves Fancy Nancy and wanted to have a tea party with me. "NO BOYS" she says. The menu is great. Lots of tea options and everything on the food menu sounds divine. I settled on the Lady Hannah tea which has hints of strawberry, raspberry and blackberries and it's caffeine free (for the lil one) and the Turkey club sandwich with vegetable lentil soup and salad and a children's tea sandwich assortment plate. While you wait for your food, the tea arrives. The tables have sugar that looks like crushed up candies. I asked for honey in the front instead. Okay so the food.. The children's tea sandwich assortment is so cute! It brings nutella & banana, strawberry with cream cheese and pb&J sandwiches. You know I had a bite right? The jelly on the pb&J was so GOOD. It also brought a lot of fruit and some ritz crackers with chocolate chips. This was a huge hit, she loved everything! As for my food, I have to say the vegetable lentil was delicious!! There's nothing like a hearty soup to warm up the soul. I think it's a must try. The turkey sandwich was great too. The turkey is the thin deli kind. The salad was good too but didn't come with dressing. They only gave me two options for dressing-balasmic or vinegar. The service was alright. I wish they were more attentive being that there was only one table at the time we got there. It seems they were training someone and the main person was handling a lot on her own. Overall, it was a nice experience. My daughter had a good time and wants to go back---his time with the boys of the house.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! Such cute decor, takes you to a whole different dimension. They got the best scones here, and crumpets?!?! Not to mention the beautiful tea cups and a wide selection of teas! I had the creme earl grey, and with a pinch of real sugar and some half & half, it was the perfect afternoon tea. I also got the strawberry shortcake which is sandwiched inside one of their amazing scones with lots of cream, so heavenly and so decadent! I loved everything here! Make your way here after hiking Anthony's Nose! Tips: Make a reservation in advance for the window seats!

Beautiful and delicious food and the tea was great

My favorites so far (which is every one I have tried) are Chili Crisp Turkey, Das Han's (Ham)Met, Falafeeling This, Blooming Onion Roast Beef and the special (which rotates regularly) - this one is the Brazilian Fried Chicken. The sandwiches are inspired and are magic in a bag. They have a frequent customer punch card, so if you plan to return, keep it handy. Service is outstanding. Remember to leave a tip.

And so when I hear so many hearings of such detail, and read so many readings with such info... it becomes a Yelp Elite's journey... no, destiny... no, civil duty to check in on said rumors. For often, rumors are spread by fools and accepted by idiots. But on a rarity? On a rarity... facts can be misleading while rumors, true or false, are often revealing. I shall carry on, unencumbered and cucumbered. I don't know much about Benny. I saw and felt the brown bag, but didn't get too familiar with it either. And why's that? That's because upon entrance to my vehicle (once a lease now owned, whatever) I smelt what was inside the bag. I kindly asked the bag to cover up the smell, of which it couldn't do. Therefore, I viciously removed the brown bag in one swift swipe. Maybe a rip. Potentially a tear... in order to lay eyes on the prize inside. Situated within a blue checkered wrapping, my nails continued to claw until my bleeding eyes and howler of a nose got what they requested. Sight on the sitch. The Foxchocker, chicken sandwich. I'm a substance guy. I need that chicken on my sandwiches. Famous fried chicken? Don't mind if I dadadadadoooooo. Bacon. Meunster mash cheese, jalapeños, a saucity sauce on a long ciabatta? Listen. I'm an easy guy. Super loose. I don't need much convincing. You say those words to me and my mouth begins to water immediately. You can take me home with that kinda talk. Don't test me. I'm street smart, not book smart... let me cook. So again, just read those ingredients... i knew that if that chicken was marinated right and if that sauce was saucing that we could be in for a mouth concert. A concert of the mouth. The tongue in cheek and teeth in esophagus. The good stuff. And let me tell you. This was GOOD STUFF. Great stuff. Phenom stuff. The chicken was seasoned and marinated to perfection. It was juicy. It was substantial. The sauce was diabolical by nature but caring in the way it caressed my taste buds. The long ciabatta was soft and played wonderfully in sync with the crisp of the crispiest of bacons. The jalapeño provided a necessary kick that was amplified by the monster meunster cheese. Each bite was a new magical moment. I was eating and driving. No mitts on the circular controlling device, Jesus took the wheel and safely got me home. Mamma Mia was this thing good. Batter my shorts and call me tortellini, I was impressed! Nearly put in shock while off-the-clock (Happy MLK Day.) The outside appearance of the de facto deli puts ya to sleep. The courteous and kind staff wakes you up. And this Fox Catcher Sandy makes you feel like you're at a rave. Head banging and tongue tangling, what a time to be alive. Now were the rumors just that, rumors? I say not. I say the Hot Goss out of LB's mouth was that you GOTTTA go here. That delightful of a dive. I'd make the detour once over. I'd travel 30 mins for the Fox Choker. I'm sick of hunting down and choking foxes myself, messy business. I'll leave it to the pros. Brown Bag, maybe one day you'll make it home raveled in your original presence rather than devoured immediately. LB, skillfully peeking in Peekskill - I bid Benny ado (for now.)
