Pluses: Attentive staff. The waitstaff is courteous and responsive, walking that fine line between being intrusive and responding when you want them to. I give the good marks in that regard. Cleanliness. It's a nice space, and clean. I used the restroom as well. Certainly looks like they take the time out to keep the place presentable which is not something all restaurants do so it should be noted when you see it. Minuses: Noise: The architecture of the space with its high ceilings is such that it's very loud. This is not the kind of place you go for a quiet meal. It wasn't that every table was occupied when I was there but the noise level was quite high. Honestly, it depends on your preference. It's not a matter of it being bad so much as warning you in advance. Prices: The food was okay. I had an omelet. It was adequate, nothing more. The thing of it was that it was a $20 dollar omelet. In that case I expect them to bring out the hen and show me its pedigree. The food was good, not great, not bad, simply good. I can't really say anything other than that. Given that it's Katonah it may be that it caters to a clientele that doesn't have a problem with that but again, it's not a bargain. What a delightful restaurant! My girlfriends and I came up for a day trip, and stumbled in here. Absolute gem of a space...their bar was so pretty! Loved that they serve breakfast all day. Their bloody mary hit the spot. I ended up with a grilled cheese and bacon. Generous cheese, crispy bacon, and I loved their homemade bread. This is a cute little place near the train station. On an early drive to Danbury one weekend we decided to stop here for a bit. The place is smallish so if you want a table there could be a wait on a busy weekend morning. We sat at the bar. Service was friendly, although slow and distracted like the guy had something else he needed to do. I was able to order a coffee and a breakfast sandwich. We came here around noon on a Sunday and we had about a 15 minute wait after giving our name to the hostess. (They will call you when your table is ready). The dining room is pretty spacious and they also have space at a bar. We both ordered an omelette. The side potatoes and multigrain bread were a great addition. This is a great spot. We were here two months ago after going to the art museum Met my son and his fiancé for brunch. We ordered Prosecco and mimosas. Then pancakes and omelets. Avocado toast with eggs my favorite! The waiting staff kids are so friendly! This makes for an extra special experience! So after dropping in to the Penny-pincher Thrift store we were back for another fix! Same splendid experience! Pancakes are fluffy and delicious. Just so satisfying. Just moved to Katonah and on a sweltering day (the day we closed on our house), we celebrated here over a delicious caprese sandwich with grilled chicken and a big coffee-Oreo milkshake and vanilla egg cream. Their breakfast sandwich is also the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had - it's got hashbrowns inside snd the whole combo of cheese, egg, bacon, and fluffy brioche is so outrageously great. Wow! Loved everything and would get it all again. The caprese comes with a big bowl of salad with fresh cherry tomatoes and I'm even craving that again. This is the second time I've been here since they had some type of messy change in ownership a couple years back. You could see the tone of the previous owner from my last/first review of Jay Street Cafe. I'm glad I came back to give them another try. They really do a good job with breakfast. In recent memory, I've gotten both the Breakfast Sandwich and the Chorizo Eggs Benny (or Benedict) and they were both excellent options. I like making breakfast on the weekends but on the days where I don't, coming here feels like a treat. The last time I was here their customer service was remarkable. They were quick to accommodate the party of two and a half we were (me, my spouse, and our toddler) even when there weren't enough chairs immediately available to make a table outdoors. They did it without a question. They were attentive when we were seated outside and it started to drizzle. Asked if we would be okay and if any of the folks outside would rather continue their meal inside. Glad they are doing a great job with keeping up with the service here. We weren't planning on stopping for lunch so we didn't have anything to occupy our toddler-we asked if there was a pharmacy near by so we could by crayons and she actually offered to go out to her car and get us colored pencils. We stoped by Jay St Cafe in Katonah across from the Harlem line train station. Katonah is a wonderful town with small specialty stores for browsing. First time we sat at the counter we ordered the Breakfast Sammy it was excellent. The variety of salads is large with very fresh ingredients. Their menu is small but a very diversified selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Wait staff is friendly and attentive to all the patrons. Jay St, is a bright and clean restaurant. Even in the throes of the pandemic, they've managed to come to the table - pun intended! - with innovative concepts and always-great tasting food. Their buffalo cauliflower is a revelation, and their vegetarian chili is incredible, too. I think the portions are perfect, the prices are just-right, and if you're coming for drinks, the pours are super generous. Best of all is that Jay Street Cafe also serves up amazing coffees -- their iced coffee with oat milk saved me when my Nespresso machine was on the fritz -- and baked goods. My wife and I recently dined at the Jay Street Cafe. On this particular Saturday the Cafe was packed and had a single server, Jamie, to handle the customers. She was absolutely amazing. Our order was taken immediately and our food came to us quickly and she could not have been more pleasant. There seems to be a new restaurant in this location every couple of years and we decided to try this place today. We came in with a party of 9 and we're seated immediately. The inside was empty with some people sitting outside. The food was good all around and everyone enjoyed it. The reason I'm giving three stars is because there was no service at all. We got our order taken and the next time a waiter or waitress came over was to clear the plates. If the service was average this would be a 4 or 5 star review. Despite the cloud covered skies and impending snowfall, there was nothing but sunshine at the Jay Street Cafe. The sparkly and new space has been completely renovated by the dynamic husband and wife duo, Christina and Matt Safarowic, also owners of The Whitlock (just down the block and consistently excellent). Although it was a busy Saturday morning, we were greeted with a smile by Christina herself. Since there was going to be a short wait for a table, it gave us time to take in the decor. Most striking were the hand painted murals by Eric Drake (Christina's brother) paying homage to Katonah - one depicts the John Jay Homestead, the other the Katonah train station directly across the street. We were promptly greeted by our server. Mimosas to start followed by the Flat White (double ristretto espresso with microfoam-steamed milk with small, fine bubbles and a glossy or velvety consistency) which was made to perfection! The youngest in our group indulged in a hot chocolate topped with a toasted mega marshmallow -- she was hands all ... sticky, delicious, lickable fingers and face. We shared the pancake battered pork sausages with a maple syrup side car for dipping, but I quickly wished I had ordered some solely for myself. The Chef's Hash was a bowl full of comfort food for the belly. The eggs were cooked perfectly as the broken yolks ran down the chunks of corned beef below with plenty left for dunking the hearty grain bread. All breads and desserts are made in house. The French Toast was fluffy, the "Power Bowl" was yummy (AND guilt free), and the atmosphere is heavenly. So here's my suggestion ... Jay Street Cafe for brunch, a stroll up and down the quaint Katonah Avenue, The Whitlock for dinner. I guarantee it will be "a beautiful day in the neighborhood". read more

We had the green bean app, the Jay burger and the fried chicken sandwich. Everything was so yummy. The coleslaw was amazing. Don't let your fries get cold, they were amazing when they came out. The staff was friendly and very attentive. We got there and there were a few people eating outside. The decor is very modern but the seats were comfortable. I got the pancakes, my daughter got the blueberry pancakes and my husband got the French toast. The pancakes were so dry. We use almost a whole bottle of syrup. The blueberry pancakes had maybe three blueberries in them and six thrown on top. The French toast was okay but nothing special. Water glasses were very small and were only refilled once. No ice. Diet Coke was flat with a. Strange taste. Wouldn't recommend. With so many diners around I'd stick with one of them. read more

After driving by many times, we finally set aside a day to try Jay Street. We arrived around 12 for brunch. We were told it was a 35 minute wait for 3 people. No problem, we popped into a couple local stores to kill time. After 40 minutes we asked how it was going. The hostess said people wouldn't leave so still will be a while. After around an hour and 15 minutes we were called that there were seats at the bar if we wanted those. We were starving so that's fine. Service was good, multiple servers checked on us and were pretty attentive. Our group had the Reuben, fried chicken sandwich and cornbread French toast. The sandwiches were enjoyed. Small portion of warm, floppy fries. Cornbread French toast was good but very small portion with no sides. Very high prices for a small brunch. My husband got a milkshake and we saw the server/busboy make the shake, top with whipped cream, pour the rest from the blender into a small glass, top with whipped cream and walk off drinking the small glass of milkshake without handing off ours. We watched the whipped cream melting on his milkshake as it's sitting just out of reach. It was pretty funny, but if you're gonna drink the leftover shake at least give us ours too! I know it's not a diner where they give you the whole shake but I just thought it was odd that it was drank right in front of us. Overall, a decent spot but not worth the price. I visited this place for the first time during a trip upstate. I was seated immediately but no one came to take my order. There were several servers standing around and only two tables of customers. I waited for 16 minutes finally the hostess saw that no one came over and she took my order. While I was in the restaurant no one approached my table for anything not even to bring the check. Luckily A family was seated next to me and the waiter approached them as they sat down to take their order. When The waiter was done I asked if he could please bring my check. He helped another table, poured drinks twice and went to the rest room then roughly fifteen minutes later he put the check on the table. Smh very disappointed. I don't think I've ever gone to a restaurant and been completely ignored the entire time. I could not even get water because no server ever came to my table and that was kinda shitty and if I'm being honest a little hurtful. read more
