I found Kathmandu Momocha as a pop-up at this year's Folklife Festival in Seattle Center. A quick search revealed they have a physical location, too. Learned something new. We tried their chicken momocha, steamed dumplings, 6 pieces for $13. Unfortunately, they were only lukewarm. They had a long line; I suspect the dumplings are not getting reheated for long enough. I know they are all fully-cooked/steamed and brought here to be warmed and served, so I wasn't concerned about food poisoning. Each momo is well stuffed, densely packed and meaty (much better than the momo food truck in Tulalip) with a pleasantly thin skin. Overall quality of the momo is in fact very good. We are only disappointed that they are lukewarm. The medium sauce is excellent. The pop-up menu has less options compared to the physical restaurant and cost more. The same chicken momocha, steamed dumplings cost $14.95 for 10 pieces if the online menu is accurate. That is a much better price. I still want to try their pan-fried version. My first time trying Himalayan/Nepalese food and it was lovely. I tried the food truck at their UW bothell event and enjoyed talking to them. The chicken momos were aromatic, juicy and soft. The flavor melted on my tongue as i took each bite and the fries were somehow the perfect texture of crunchy and soft? the outside was crunchy and fun to bite into but the inside was soft and starchy. I really liked the sauce accompanied with the momos and really liked the fruit juice. I would love to have a meal like this on a sunny day with my friends again. 5/5 read more

I came across this food truck during one of the FIFA game viewings in Pioneer Square. I had the Veggie Pakora and the Chicken MomoCha Dumplings. The deep fried Pekora was delicious enough so that I came back on another day and had more. However, the dumplings didn't have a whole lot of flavor. They definitely needed the sauce to give them flavor. Plus, they're pretty lukewarm inside. That means if they weren't fully cooked before the event, they were a little raw inside. I suggest you offer sauce with the Veggie Pakora and not sparingly. read more

The owner even came up to us to ask for feedback which I thought was great, it's a great way to stay in touch with your customer base. My co-worker and I stopped by Kathmandu Momocha for lunch this past week to try some different ethnic food from what we usually get. I've been to Annapurna before in Capitol Hill, but haven't had too much Himalayan or Nepalese food otherwise. We arrived at 11:40am at their South Lake Union location, beating the lunch rush which started at around 12-12:30pm. We shared the PORK AND CHICKEN MOMO LUNCH COMBO and the CHICKEN AND EGG NOODLES. We also ordered a MASALA CHAI TEA and a MANGO LASSI. The total with tax and tip came out to just over $40. The PORK AND CHICKEN MOMOS were alright. They came as a set of 6 dumplings (three of each) plus three fried potato dumplings. The momo dough was pretty thick and the inside was dry and not juicy- these were definitely not soupy like Chinese xiao long baos. If anything, they were more like Russian pelmeni. They definitely needed to be dipped in the spicy garlic sauces they provide. The fried potato dumplings were decent though and I honestly enjoyed them more than the momos. The CHICKEN AND EGG NOODLES were quite disappointing. The dish was basically just lo mein noodles with a little bit of chopped chicken and some vegetables. Panda Express noodles are honestly just as good (and half the price). While the portion was generous, I would definitely not order this dish again. The MASALA CHAI TEA was just okay as well. It had good spice flavor and wasn't super sweet (which I liked), but it lacked richness/creaminess. My co-worker had the MANGO LASSI and found it passable. While I didn't try it, it looked somewhat anemic/light in color. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is extremely casual and sterile (think metal counters, metal tables, and metal chairs). It's basically like eating at a fast food restaurant as you order at the kiosk, grab a buzzer, and go up to the counter to get your own food. You bus your own table as well, so there's not much service involved.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also only use foil takeout containers and plastic forks, even if you dine in, which I find wasteful towards the environment. This was my first time trying Nepalese street food, so I don't have much baseline for comparison. I ordered the lunch combo and fried dumplings. The filling was good and tasty, and I really liked the hot cilantro dipping sauce. It was spicy and really elevated the taste of the dumplings. However, the dough wrapper could be thinner, as it felt a bit too separated from the filling. The mango lemonade tasted a little funny, but it wasn't a big deal. Decided to try this spot on a Friday evening for dinner! I ordered ahead online, and was given an estimated pickup time of 20 minutes. When I got to the restaurant, it was not too crowded at all. It's a smallish storefront with around 6 tables, and it is more of a cafe where you place your order, grab your own utensils and napkins, and bus your own table. Very cute space. The person working let me know that it would take about two more minutes, and quite soon after, I got my order! So no complaints about timing, it came out at approximately the time that was predicted, especially as she was clearly putting together a ton of takeout/delivery orders. They also have 3 types of sauces (mild, medium, hot) and I decided to get the "hot". The momos I got were quite good! The beef and pepper Jack were quite flavorful, and the hot sauce was a nice touch, though not necessary since the momos were good on their own with the meat. Next time I'd love to try the chicken, which unfortunately they were sold out of when I went. Will be back! read more

One liner: authentic food with great vibes but definitely pricey. $18 per person. This cozy joint is in a bustling SLU office area and has lovely nepali style food. The restaurant is decorated to give you Kathmandu vibes and the food is definitely delicious. The staff was friendly and prompt. I like their token system where it vibrates when the food is ready. I ordered the vegan momo/dumpling meal and it was delicious. I will definitely be going back there at some point. Oh my god, this food is good. These guys are at most of the Seattle farmer's markets, and it's always my go to. They have a great vegan momocha with amazing sauces. The wait can be pretty long depending on the market, but it's worth it in my opinion. I haven't been to their physical location yet. Also! Stopped by their store, and ordered some chicken momos, veggie pakora, and cheesy cheeseballs to-go; we waited about 10 min for our food to be prepared. I enjoyed the chicken momos - they were nicely seasoned (moreso than the typical Chinese/Korean dumpling), with a delicious chuteney (varying spice level) for dipping. The veggie pakora is best eaten first to maintain crispiness; I airfried any leftovers, and they were still pretty good. The cheese balls were a different story - pretty greasy, as they were a sponge for oil. Probably would not order these again, unless the batter was re-done to avoid oil absorbtion. On the pricier side, but the flavors were there! Overall a 3.5, and would likely come back to satisy a momo/pakora craving if in the area. read more

Its possible that they watered down the sauce due to the rush that day but that is also a bad sign. I am actually from Nepal, and this is not how its done in Nepal where momo is everywhere. Some tone deaf reviewer from India said his bad experience could be reflective of how its done in Nepal,but the "Indianized version" doesn't reflect Tibetan/Nepali style either. Don't let your bad experience make uninformed assumptions :) I recommend Everest kitchen, and Indian Nepali Kitchen for momo, or going to Vancouver. Kathmandu Momocha is a Himalayan, Nepalese food truck. They're based out of Shoreline and make rounds to different events so you can your small bites on while enjoying an attraction. They advertise themselves with 'All freshly handmade and from scratch.' and "Locally Sourced." Can't confirm but it was pretty good. We got some pork Mamocha dumplings which were alright. I didn't find them any better than some usual Chinese or Thai dumplings at a given restaurant. The Crispy Pakora was also alright. Crispy, battered and spiced garbanzos is a nice idea, but I didn't get too much in the way of flavor out of them. They have a handful of other options such as Dumplings: Chicken, Beef & Pepper jack, Pork & Veg, Vegan. Cheesy Cheese Balls, Himalayan Fries, that all come with their "signature sauces" labeled as - Tomato & roasted Sesame mild & Hot Garlicy red chili Sauce. which are of course "Locally Sourced" They were ok but I'm not sure you need to rush to this truck at your local event. read more

This is a review for their food truck. I tried them out at the summer solstice festival. I waited in line for 40+ minutes and then waited another hour to get my order. So many people were annoyed and wondering why it was taking so long. They seemed very overwhelmed and scattered but when I finally got my order, I was disappointed. I've had really good momos before, and this was a miss unfortunately. The dumpling wrapper was thick and doughy. You get sick of eating it after a few pieces and it comes with 10. It was certainly not worth the wait so if you see a long line, go grab something else. read more

Food truck @ our apt. Food & service were terrible!!! Pokara over fried & burnt. The batter overly salty & not edible. Same for the dumplings. Salty filling inside thick dough wrapping. If the pork dumplings weren't in the red wrapper, you wouldn't be able to tell whether it was chicken or pork dumplings because they use the same filler & too much of it that you can't taste the difference. He didn't tell us he was taking orders. We had been in front of him the whole time. He yelled at me when I ordered fried rice & the pork kothy dumplings from their online menu while waiting for 45 min. He kept asking what's kothy? And kept telling me half pork & half chicken dumplings. I had to tell him full orders of each. He was trying to make it easy on him w/half orders. 2 people's order were ready before mine. I was the first person in line since 5:00 & flagged him down the second time he missed our street. He doesn't greet you or thk you even after I did. I ordered vegetables and meat momocha and it came up to $25 which was quite expensive for just 10 pieces. First of all the momochas were cold. The skin of both momochas were soggy at the bottom and dry at the top and the meat inside was very bland. I'm guessing that they over steamed the buns. Wanted to try Kathmandu Momocha food truck for a while now.. Been following them ardently on Instagram to get their schedule so I can go and devour their himalayan momos (steamed dumplings).. Tried their chicken momos (the best), beef momos, veg pakoras, potato and cheese balls.. everything was really good but I personally loved their chicken momos.. the sauce gives these momos a very nice flavor and I wanted more of that sauce.. I wish they could offer different spice levels for their sauce so I could try something hotter.. Since we ordered togo the sauce was loaded in tiny containers vs sauce spread over the momos if you eat it there (this lets the momos soak up the sauce really well and enhances the taste in my opinion).. I can see myself craving these weekly so I am going to stalk their food truck schedule on Insta.. They typically are in Ballard at least twice a week next to some brewery so that gives me a nice reason to have a beer and eat momos.. Pretty authentic.. Definitely recommend these guys.. read more

I ordered catering from Kathmandu Momocha for a lunch meeting at work. I emailed and had a call from them to confirm the order. I usually order from EZCater but wanted to eliminate the extra fees the service takes from restaurants and go through the business themselves. Parking and pick up is far and few in the area being in Amazon land. The order was delayed completion by 10 minutes for packing and wrapping up the order. I managed to get help form one of the owners (?) to pack in to my car and then went back to my office. The overall consensus is that they enjoyed the food and would eat there again. I haven't had much Nepal cuisine or from the region so, I cannot say an opinion on the authenticity but, overall, good experience. read more
