Discovered Masakan during SRW and love the authentic Malaysian cuisine and wonderful service by Mas and Zani, the owners. They are so kind and friendly. The Nasi Lemak has fried chicken with a unique taste. I think its lemongrass and their homemade seasoning. The coconut rice and chili sambal led us to finish the entire dish, even though it's generous in portion. The Beef Char Kway Teow has simple ingredients, and i think it's a go-to for noodle lovers. The kuih bakar is a pandan cake. You can smell and taste pandan! We love how authentic it is, the simple menu, yet delicious meal!

Great variety and lots of options to choose from. I tried some new items that were recommended and can't wait to go back

We had an amazing time here and food was amazing too .We ordered salad ,noodles. I also tried the hibiscus tea and that was also amazing.

Food was amazing even for vegetarian. We were group of 4 waiting time was 25 min. We ordered rotla, salad, noodles and hibiscus tea. All the dishes are amazing.

Kuih Box ($20). This one included curry puffs, kuih sago, pulut panggang, kuih lapis pandan. Excellent!!

So sedap! I stumbled upon Masakan's Instagram just as I was missing home and had to give them a try. They offer authentic Malaysian food that really hits the spot for this homesick Singaporean, and they seem to do pop-ups every weekend. I enjoyed their meal as well as their kuih (dessert) boxes, and the pickup process was quick and easy. I am certainly a big fan now, and will consider using them for catering at future parties/events. It seems to be a small family business with two lovely Malaysian women at the helm. I'm excited to get to know this business better and try more of their delicious meals.

Masakan is doing Malaysian pop ups all around the Seattle area. This weekend was their 1 year anniversary! And WOW the food here really really impressed me!! A friend had recommended the food here and I ordered as soon as I saw the menu. They had their pop up out of La Rue in Capitol Hill this weekend. My online ordering and in person pick up were both easy and seamless. Lemang and rendang ($20): glutinous rice wrapped in banana leafs with beef rendang. Sticky rice was delicious when paired with the rendang. The rendang was SO tasty, crazy flavor explosion with lots of lemongrass and galangal taste. Nasi lemak bungkus ($14): coconut milk rice, chili sambal, peanuts, and anchovies all wrapped in a banana leaf. This dish was delicious and spicy! I loved the homemade sambal complimented with the coconut rice. Pandan cake ($5): chiffon cake with pandan flavors. So fluffy, so light, so so yummy Unfortunately there was a power outage and they weren't able to make curry puffs ($9). But I did hear from a friend that they were good! Sad that I missed out, but I'll have to order them next time! I'll definitely be keeping an eye out on their Instagram for their next pop up!

easy ordering and pick up. great all vegan menu this time around so was excited that they'd gone this route and changed things up from the normal meat centric menu. hoping that they'll end up doing a pop up somewhere in west seattle or white center to allow for the southwest quadrant of the city to enjoy the malaysian flavors i miss from my time spent there. thanks for so many creative dishes that truly showcase the diverse textures and flavors of the country!

Really cute interior with cozy wooden booths reminiscent of street vendors in Southeast Asia. Nasi Lemak comes in generous portion and for the protein you can choose either chicken curry or beef rendang. (5/5) We also tried Rusuk Kedai which is ribs marinated with sweetened soy sauce with a little kick to it. (4/5) Roti jala comes with chicken curry dipping and is large enough for sharing with 3-4 people. (4/5) Teh Tarik is good but a bit too milky and can be stronger. (3/5) Kedai Sling is a version of Singapore Sling, refreshing on a warm summer day. A bit too sweet for my liking and can use a bit more punch. (3.5/5) Food came out quickly, friendly staff, but you may need to flag them down for attention. Overall a really nice place to have an authentic Malaysian meal and would stop by again if I'm in the area.

Recently spotted the new Belltown location while I was in the area and finally got my chance. The restaurant was inviting and quite large in space compared to the Og location in caphill. Fair warning: I went pretty close to closing time, so take my service experience with a grain of salt. It was fine -- nothing remarkable, but nothing off-putting either. On to the food, which is really what matters here. I got the nasi lemak and the mushroom pan mee, and both were excellent. Really flavorful with a lot going on texturally. The pan mee noodles on their own are fairly plain, but paired with the mushrooms they came alive -- the mushrooms in particular were a standout, really earthy and satisfying. Would definitely come back if I'm in the area and craving Malaysian food. Glad this location exists so I no longer have an excuse to skip it!

The mango salad was good - very fresh, a good balance of fish-based sauce, and a huge portion. I also tried my friend's duck curry, which had a crispy skin and was a well balanced curry. We have our favorite dish but this time we were determined to order something else. For drinks: - Grass Jelly Juice - it was good but too sweet for me. I added water to dilute the sweetness. - Sour Plum Lime Spritzer - My companion liked this. It was too tart for me, but maybe because I already started drinking the Grass Jelly Juice. For our main: - Curry Laksa - Rich coconut curry sop with fish balls, fish tofu, fried tofu, shrimp, hard-boiled egg and bean sprouts. Surprisingly, the curry was mild. It was good, but I've had better Laksa elsewhere. - Pineapple Fried Rice - Egg, shrimp, chicken, fresh pineapple, onions, peas and carrots. Topped with dried pork floss. Very flavorful! - Nyonya Fish Fillet - Golden fried Dover Sole fish fillet, diced onions, bell peppers, curry leaves tossed in a lemongrass curry paste. This was so delicious! The fish was tender, cooked just right and the sauce was so tasty! - Eggplants Okra Black Bean Sauce - Eggplants and okra in a garlic black bean sauce. There were more eggplant than okra but I was fine with it since the eggplant was very tasty and went well with the black bean sauce. The few okra on the dish were a bit tough, but the flavor was good. Servers are always friendly, but as mentioned because they have a small staff, you have to be a bit assertive in waiving them down or be patient to wait.

Its a good size restaurant with big menu; plenty of options to pick and choose. Service was good; waited a while to get seated but we notice it was only one person working in the front and she was helping a table so we think nothing of it. The menu/pictures looks good. What we got: Shrimp fritter (2.5/5) This wasn't it for us; not sure if it was the batter; but after we ate one; it felt oily? And it just stuck in our mouth. I would get a different appetizer next time. Nasi Goreng (1/5) Sorry; this was not what we expected either. Maybe im just used to flavorfull Nasi Goreng. It was bland and it was more of like a rice pillaf that barely touch the wok. I really hope this was just a one of those day and it usually good. It looks really good when it arrives and we were so excited; but when we started eating it; we were very surprise. Panang char kway thew (3.5/5) This one was decent; plenty of flavor. We like it. Belachan shrimp and sring bean (4/5) Best one from all the ones we ordered. Plenty of flavor. We use some of the sauce to mix in to nasi goreng. Teh Tarik (4/5) Good teh tarik. Really enjoy it. Har ko sai (4/5) Enjoy it. Good balance of both the mili and coffee Overall It could be better; I think my expectation was too high. Again; plenty of people were there so guessing they like them. Probably will try again if we are in the area.

Ooink -- Precision Ramen and a Fried Chicken Surprise Worth Returning For…read more Rating: (4/5) Ooink proves that sometimes the most memorable dishes at a ramen shop aren't limited to the bowl. While I came for noodles, I left equally impressed by their fried chicken -- a rare highlight in a ramen-focused kitchen. This visit earns a strong 4 out of 5 stars for quality, execution, and value. Ambiance - 4/5 Ooink maintains a modern, casual ramen-house aesthetic -- intimate, energetic, and focused on the food. It feels like a place built around craft rather than flash. The atmosphere is comfortable enough to settle into a proper bowl of ramen without distraction. Authenticity - 4.5/5 What stood out immediately was their commitment to in-house noodle production. The fact that you can purchase fresh noodles to-go for just a dollar signals something important: these are made daily, not outsourced or pre-packaged. That dedication to noodle integrity reflects a respect for traditional ramen craftsmanship. Flavor - 5/5 The fried chicken was unexpectedly exceptional. Three large pieces for $13 -- generous, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. Crisp exterior, tender interior, and well-balanced flavor. Easily one of the better karaage-style chickens I've had at a ramen establishment. The ramen itself delivered on texture -- which, as any true ramen enthusiast knows, is everything. I requested firm, thin noodles, and once the message was properly communicated (with the help of Google Translate due to a minor language barrier), they nailed it. The noodles were springy, resilient, and held up beautifully in the broth -- no sogginess, no compromise. Service - 4.5/5 There was a slight communication barrier initially, but the staff made a genuine effort to accommodate my preferences once clarified. That willingness to adjust and ensure satisfaction speaks positively about their hospitality. Cost - 5/5 For the portion size and quality, especially the fried chicken at $13 for three substantial pieces, the value is outstanding. Add in the fresh noodle program, and you're getting craftsmanship without a premium price tag. Final Thoughts Ooink is a ramen shop that respects fundamentals -- noodle texture, broth balance, and proper execution. Add to that a standout fried chicken offering, and you have a place that exceeds expectations. I'll absolutely be returning, not just for the ramen, but for that karaage alone.

The broth leans rich and creamy with a tonkotsu-style depth that I really enjoyed -- savory, well-balanced, and satisfying without being overwhelming. The ramen texture was spot on: springy with a good bite, holding up nicely in the broth. The toppings were thoughtfully portioned. The chashu was tender and flavorful, the egg was cooked just right with a custardy yolk, and everything felt intentional rather than excessive. Nothing was there just to fill space. Service was also a pleasant surprise -- attentive and efficient, especially for an establishment that doesn't push tipping on their POS. It made the whole experience feel relaxed and welcoming. Not quite a mind-blowing, must-have bowl, but definitely one I'd come back for. A strong 4-star ramen spot in Seattle.
