Discovered Masakan during SRW and love the authentic Malaysian cuisine and wonderful service by Mas and Zani, the owners. They are so kind and friendly. The Nasi Lemak has fried chicken with a unique taste. I think its lemongrass and their homemade seasoning. The coconut rice and chili sambal led us to finish the entire dish, even though it's generous in portion. The Beef Char Kway Teow has simple ingredients, and i think it's a go-to for noodle lovers. The kuih bakar is a pandan cake. You can smell and taste pandan! We love how authentic it is, the simple menu, yet delicious meal!

Great variety and lots of options to choose from. I tried some new items that were recommended and can't wait to go back

We had an amazing time here and food was amazing too .We ordered salad ,noodles. I also tried the hibiscus tea and that was also amazing.

Food was amazing even for vegetarian. We were group of 4 waiting time was 25 min. We ordered rotla, salad, noodles and hibiscus tea. All the dishes are amazing.

Kuih Box ($20). This one included curry puffs, kuih sago, pulut panggang, kuih lapis pandan. Excellent!!

So sedap! I stumbled upon Masakan's Instagram just as I was missing home and had to give them a try. They offer authentic Malaysian food that really hits the spot for this homesick Singaporean, and they seem to do pop-ups every weekend. I enjoyed their meal as well as their kuih (dessert) boxes, and the pickup process was quick and easy. I am certainly a big fan now, and will consider using them for catering at future parties/events. It seems to be a small family business with two lovely Malaysian women at the helm. I'm excited to get to know this business better and try more of their delicious meals.

Masakan is doing Malaysian pop ups all around the Seattle area. This weekend was their 1 year anniversary! And WOW the food here really really impressed me!! A friend had recommended the food here and I ordered as soon as I saw the menu. They had their pop up out of La Rue in Capitol Hill this weekend. My online ordering and in person pick up were both easy and seamless. Lemang and rendang ($20): glutinous rice wrapped in banana leafs with beef rendang. Sticky rice was delicious when paired with the rendang. The rendang was SO tasty, crazy flavor explosion with lots of lemongrass and galangal taste. Nasi lemak bungkus ($14): coconut milk rice, chili sambal, peanuts, and anchovies all wrapped in a banana leaf. This dish was delicious and spicy! I loved the homemade sambal complimented with the coconut rice. Pandan cake ($5): chiffon cake with pandan flavors. So fluffy, so light, so so yummy Unfortunately there was a power outage and they weren't able to make curry puffs ($9). But I did hear from a friend that they were good! Sad that I missed out, but I'll have to order them next time! I'll definitely be keeping an eye out on their Instagram for their next pop up!

easy ordering and pick up. great all vegan menu this time around so was excited that they'd gone this route and changed things up from the normal meat centric menu. hoping that they'll end up doing a pop up somewhere in west seattle or white center to allow for the southwest quadrant of the city to enjoy the malaysian flavors i miss from my time spent there. thanks for so many creative dishes that truly showcase the diverse textures and flavors of the country!

We ordered an abundant spread, and every dish impressed. The clear crowd favorite was the Singapore black pepper prawns - fragrant, perfectly spiced, and completely addictive. That black pepper sauce was hands down the star of the meal: rich, peppery, and deeply flavorful. It was my favorite and could easily be eaten on everything. The Mala curry crab and XO crab were both outstanding; layered with complex, indulgent flavors. The Thai green chili clams and saus mentega clams were vibrant and comforting, while the crab fried rice had generous morsels of crab folded throughout the dish. We also really enjoyed the Indonesian chicken wings, which were crispy and flavorful, and the stir-fried vegetables, which added a fresh, well-balanced contrast to the seafood-heavy menu. Everything traveled well, was thoughtfully prepared, and made for an unforgettable catered meal. If you're considering catering from Marimakan Crabhouse, I can't recommend it highly enough. Get the black pepper sauce! Amazing from start to finish, and Chef V or Rachel is lovely to work with.

We were greeted immediately as soon as we walked in and because we had reservations, our table was immediately available. The menu is elevated Filipino food that lived up to its name. Small portions which means we got to enjoy each bite. No greasy taste, nothing over done. Just delicious, dishes served with pried. I didn't like that they charge for sauces. Filipino dishes are often eaten with different sauces. The dessert we had was the turon pudding. That was heavenly! An inside out turon that was a party in my mouth! As I was writing this review, we were served with a sample of their chocolate mousse. And holy moly that was good! All the flavors made my taste buds dance. Salty, bitter and sweet. Plus a nice crisp crunch on top. Highly recommend!

The European flair and intimate setting (only about 10-12 tables) make it feel like a well-kept secret. The quality is amazing! Everything is locally sourced and prepared with care. It is somewhat difficult to get a reservation, because the space here is very small and packed with tables. The one downside is that it is a little tight and can be difficult to hear. But I'll take that for the opportunity to eat here. And as long as you go in with the mindset that you might drop some serious coin on the meal, you're gonna have a phenomenal time. Because we were so close to our dining neighbors, I was actually able to ask them what they were eating since it looked so good. And that's how we ended up with some mind blowing fritters. A perfect appetizer to start the night. They have a great selection of wines that are actually reasonably priced to buy by the bottle. I'm pretty sure I saw someone taking one home that they drank a few bottles out of also, which is a first. I was impressed by the creativity of the dishes as well. I'm not one to be impressed by cabbage, or ever order it, but the charred cabbage looked enticing. The cheese on the bottom, seasoning, and dates transformed this ordinary vegetable into a star. And of course you gotta see what they're doing with the seasonal veggies. I can't seem to ever cook squash the right way, but they crafted it into the ideal consistency where it was almost meaty. That New York Strip was out of this world though... the garlic sauce that accompanied it was just enough of a flavor enhancer that it didn't take away from a steak that was cooked to the ideal temp. I'll be back for more!!

The attention to detail, quality of the food, presentation, staff, and overall experience was great. You certainly get what you pay for here! They welcome you to the patio in the back and provide a welcome libation, then seat you inside at your reserved table. You should sit at the counter. I am not sure this would have been as fun had we not. SO much tweezing going on you would think we were in a beauty salon. They tailor the menu in some regard to your needs, so make sure you fill out the questionnaire! If you are the type of person that needs to make every decision at every step of the way, not really the place for you. In fact, I made zero decisions upon arrival, which was great. When you walk to the front, they start off with a drink choice. I had the cider, I can't remember the other one, but the cider was great! They had us sit in the back outdoor seating while the tables were getting ready. The restaurant inside is very cozy, not a lot of tables which seems to help the servers and chefs be more attentive. Every food item was brought out, explained, and was very visually appealing! This is definitely a place you go if you want to have an experience, and we were happily surprised at how well that experience went. Some of the top items were pasta in wagyu beef broth, scallops kind of like ceviche, savory macrons, squab (some kind of small bird), and the desserts were great as well! They also give you a little coffee or tea to go as you walk home which is nice, and the cups are pretty cute. One thing to note, is we had the non-alchoholic drink pairing, and thought it would be more like cocktails without alcohol. I would suggest you look more at what it actually entails via the drink menu before you have it. It's a lot of fermented items, so if you don't like kambucha then I would suggest getting something else. Overall though, I definitely recommend this place, I will be going back as their menu changes with the seasons.
