One of the most reliably good restaurants in Ned. Very good for lunch, dinner or takeout. It has a full bar and a solid set of draft beers. The menu has a large range of meat and vegetable dishes as well as several sets of naan. We order saag paneer every time we eat this style food and they make it well here. The daal is served as a soup in broth rather than as a bean dish. In the meat arena, I favor the jal frezi. Parking is generally available except on heavy tourist days. read more

I would never expect I could run into the best Indian/Nepalese cuisine I've ever had in a small town after a long day hike in the Rocky Mountains. We were debating whether we want to have dinner in Netheland or in Boulder. After reading a review in yelp about people would drive 30 mins to this town just for this restaurant - we decided to give it a shot. It turned out to be a great choice!! Menu looked pretty authentic. We ordered a garlic potato naan (forgot the name..), paneer masala, lamb curry and chai tea. I especially liked the silver bowls they used to serve the entree. Both entrees tasted awesome!! It went so well with the rice and the naan. We almost emptied every plate.. One more awesome thing to mention - the chai tea was bottom less! read more

The view alone is worth a drive to Nederland. Not to be confused with Peter Pan's HQ, this mountainous region outside of Boulder is fun for adults mostly. On a mission to see some fall foliage in early September, we got sidetracked by Nepalese lunch buffet. Kathmandu lunch buffet to be exact. Frankly, after I stuffed myself with rice, tikka masala and dosas, the trees seemed to fade into the distance. While dining on all-you-can-eat glory, the hills and peaks are in close proximity. It almost feels like you've climbed all the way up here and are burning calories while you eat. It's not true, but a girl can dream. Very cheap, very filling and very unexpected. Sure you can visit the sister restaurant in Boulder, but why not make a road trip out of it? read more

A couple of friends and I took a drive from Estes Park because we heard great things about the food here. We were not disappointed. I had the lamb chili (hot), garlic paratha, and iced chai tea. I love the food at Kathmandu. I ate at Kathmandu before going to the actual Kathmandu, and also after, and this is the most authentic Nepalese food I have eaten since coming back from Nepal. I love that they even have the stainless steel cups and plates (which are every restaurant in Nepal). A friendly Nepalese family runs the place. I love coming here after skiing at Eldora and grabbing the buffet. Get the saag and naan side of dal bhat, and the cauliflowers and potato curry, and you will be immensely satisfied. ... amazing. It's perfect to eat mountain cuisine up in the mountains near Nederland There are so many delicious, flavorful options on the huge lunch buffet, some gluten free, or dairy free or vegan. We eat all of it! Imagine Northern Indian food with a twist with curries, saag, kormas, pampadans, samosas etc..... The homemade chai is amazing too. Resham and Mula are your friendly hosts in this authentic Nepalese restaurant and promise a delicious lunch or dinner. The portions are generous. I will caveat my review upfront because I have never actually eaten at the restaurant; however, the nice folks that run the place have catered both my brother and sister-in-law's wedding and my niece's wedding. At my niece's wedding on Saturday, there was SO.MUCH.FOOD and it was all delicious. The usual assortment of delicious and fragrant cuisine was supplemented with a variety of naan and a vat of hot chai. In addition, the owner herself assisted with the delivery of the food. I had high hopes for this restaurant based on the reviews I read. Within 10 seconds of walking in, I could tell I was going to have issues. Really, it took only 10 seconds. When I walked in there was nobody to greet us or let us know where to sit. An employee 20 feet away simply yelled to us to sit at any booth. We sat at a booth and shortly after he came and gave us a pitcher of water. He didnt pour it or say anything. He just put it at the table and left. I poured the water for myself, my wife, and our daughter. A few minutes later he came and gave us menus and took the pitcher back. He didnt ask if we've been there before or say anything really. He just came and left. I was surprised that he took the pitcher as well. When we had to pour our own water I just thought "ok, its more casual and they leave the pitcher so we can help ourselves." That wasnt the case. The server just didnt want to take the time to pour the water himself (a different server I noticed later was pouring waters for customers, but this particular server who acted as though he was higher ranking did not). The entire time the service was terrible. Perhaps this was because there was only one server for the entire restaurant, but the restaurant wasn't very busy. Even if they were busy, the server could at least ask if we have any questions. We ended up ordering the combination dinner soup, momos, and garlic na'an. The food was....ok at best. The momos were fairly bad. They were tough. They looked delicious and were a perfect golden brown. However, they were tough and felt over cooked somehow. The filling was bland at best. The combination soup was good, but nothing great. The best part of the meal was the garlic na'an. It was even reasonably price. However, the bread should not be the best part of the meal. This place has a lot of work to do. From the quality of the food to basic aspects of customer service, they are lacking. read more

This place used to be a staple for me every time I was in town or passing through after backpacking but things have really changed (or maybe everything used to taste much better when I was ravenous and exhausted?). I had the buffet like I usually would get but every single dish was boring and flavorless. Now listen, I am a HUGE baby about spicy food and I appreciate them not spicing everything to lava-hot, however it just seemed like they ran out of every single spice. Or maybe this is how they can make it "all-you-can-eat" since nothing was worth getting seconds. So if you want to sample different colors of bland mush then I highly recommend the buffet. But if you actually want to taste food-like flavors then go off the menu like other reviewers recommended (or just go somewhere else). read more

As a New Yorker that thrives off of Indian/Nepali food, I was very pleased with the two dishes I had at kathmandu. The paneer masala was very good, I asked for it spicy and they gave me a side plate of chili paste that was perfect for adding spice as needed (about half the amount). The chicken momos were perfect. Well cooked outside skin that wasn't too thick or thin, and really noisy flavorful chicken on the inside with a spicy dip. My friend got the buffet in which he said the food was "2/5 stars" but agreed that MY made to order dishes were really good There was barely anyone in the restaurant but if you want good food, skip the buffet and go for actual dishes read more

Augh!!!! So good! Everything was amazing! Saag paneer, perfect rice, excellent samosas. The meat dishes (tikka masala, etc) were also perfectly seasoned. All at a super low price. These guys are die-hards too... I came on a crazy snow day and they were operating business as usual. I gotta say: There's not much better than an awesome Indian buffet on a cold, stormy day. I was so excited to try this place based on the positive reviews, but it was really a disappointing experience. There is far better Indian food in Colorado. I opted for the saag, which people have raved about in their reviews. It was nothing special, and it left me feeling nauseous for the rest of the night. Relative to the other saags I've had, it seemed a heavy on the cream and didn't taste very fresh. I took the advice of previous reviewers and ordered it hot. It had a delightful level of spice and heat. Other than that, it just wasn't working. I've had much better saag in Colorado. My boyfriend got the chicken tikka masala, which he sad was just ok. Neither of us finished our leftovers. The complimentary pappadum prior to the entrees was stale and the sauces were not my cup of tea. My cup of chai, however, was the highlight of the meal and some of the best chai I've had. Service was fine, very nice and quick. I understand that there is a lot working against a restaurant like this in a place as isolated as Nederland. It's difficult to find the kind and quality of ingredients to make stellar Indian food, and the elevation likely complicates the naan making process. I also didn't try any of the Nepalese dishes, which may be better than the Indian ones. read more

This is basically just an Indian Restaurant guys, I didn't see anything distinct that let me know otherwise. They have a buffet that is 12 bucks for dinner I believe. It was delicious! Unlimited naan also! They had a lot of options in the buffet: chicken masala, jasmine rice, almond raisin jasmine rise, curry, etc.... They had it all. Their simosas were delicious and crispy as well! This town is pretty small so there are only a few restaurants that are worth going to, this one is definitely one of them! read more
