This review is long overdue! I am incredibly picky about my hair and finding a great hair stylist is no easy task. I have thick curly hair with lots of body and not every cut or color is for me. I've had some horrible experiences that left me in tears because, as some of you know, there are stylists out there who present themselves as knowledgeable and you learn otherwise with just one bad cut and/or color. So, once I do find an awesome stylist I will just about follow them wherever they go. I was lucky to have someone like that for 15+ years, but my scheduling conflicts and my moving prompted me to look closer to home. Finding that perfect stylist can be like finding that perfect significant other, sometimes it's kismet and sometimes, well, you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find that prince. Likewise with a stylist. To hopefully narrow the search I turned to Yelp and the first stylist I found was Kathryn. I never could have imagined I would be so lucky from the get go. She had awesome reviews and most all had to do with her being a gifted colorist as well as stylist. This immediately caught my eye and I decided to give her a try. I knew I had the right person immediately after she colored and cut my hair and 2 1/2 years later I am still a faithful client! I walk into every appointment and give my hair over to her with confidence that she will do whatever it takes to make me and my hair look incredible. The proof is in the compliments I get. I can't say enough great things about her and I highly recommend her. If you are trying to find that person that can color and cut your hair perfectly, then look no further. The reviews I read were spot on, she is truly gifted! She is also honest about what she can do for you. The key is that you have to listen and trust her. She knows what will and will not work. The only advice I give to anyone going to her is; don't ask for the impossible! Ask Kathryn if it can work and she will tell you. Be patient about your color/cut if you have been a victim of someone else's bad work, she can work wonders and some miracles, but only for those that take her advice to heart. I am so lucky to have quickly found an awesome and gifted person so close to where I live. I don't know what I would do without her! I am very picky when it comes to my hair. I decided to try Kathryn after reading reviews on yelp from people who were more that satisfied. I got a cut with hi and lo lights. She was able to match my color perfectly and she gave great advice on what would/wouldn't look good with my face shape. She has great technique and is very knowledgable. Kathryn is very friendly and her salon was clean and organized. I went in with long hair (past the middle of my back) and it took about two hours for everything. Kathryn was great. I was running a little late for my appointment due to car trouble but she was very understanding. As a new client she took the time to talk with me about what I wanted short term and long term for my hair which I've never had anyone ask me before! She offered some great insight and confirmed with me twice about how much length I wanted to cut off (my hair was pretty long). She listened to my concerns and was helpful in choosing the right cut. We also discussed highlights and how to help my hair become more healthy and light. Not only does she have great skills but also she's a great person to talk with (though it was difficult when it came time for blow-drying my hair because it was hard to hear). I first came in to get my orange/yellow nightmare of hair color corrected and obviously was really apprehensive since my previous experience at a "high end" salon went HORRIBLY! Kathryn eased my mind and let me know that she would do pretty much everything she could do fix my hair. 2 hours later I have blonde hair!!!! I almost wanted to cry from excitement because I loved my hair so much! I was looking for a good hairdresser in my area and came across Kathryn's name on the internet. She had good reviews so I decided to take a chance and schedule an appointment to see her. I schedule my appointment online and even got a reminder email the day prior to my appointment. I went on my scheduled appointment date and time and was told by another stylist that Kathryn was out that day and was out of the country. This is very unprofessional. I do not know the circumstances but I would think that if you are not taking appointments for a certain day or time then your scheduler should be blocked off. I believe in giving others a second chance and would if I would have been contacted to say a mistake was made. I have VERY long and thick hair and it's the one thing I take a lot of pride in so I've always gone to very high end salons for my coloring and cuts, well after my last colorist left I tried Kathryn's salon and I've been hooked ever since! She does the BEST coloring I have ever had and really knows what I want. I love to change my mind and colors (I currently have it multi colored) and she always understands what I want and guides me to the best treatments. She really knows hair and loves what she does and it shows. I always walk out feeling amazing and get so many compliments on my hair! Plus, what I love about her salon versus the big chains is that I'm seen by just her the whole time. I hated going to my old salon and seeing my colorist, then someone else for a cut, someone else for a wash, and someone else for a blow dry. It was exhausting. Love love love Kathryn! When I moved to Houston/Sugar Land area a few years ago I searched and searched for a hair salon. I found Kathryn on Yelp, she had wonderful reviews, and so I made an appointment. She is awesome! I am super cautious about cutting my hair or who cuts it. I usually wear it long, only get it trimmed and re-layered twice a year, and usually pretty low key on styling it. I decided I wanted to chop it off short for the summer, but was super nervous about doing so. I took pictures I found online and showed her and told her my worries about cutting it off so short and I've always had long hair. She helped me feel comfortable with a length without going as dramatic/short as my pictures were, and told me if after a few day I decided I could handle going shorter to come back and she would shorten it. I returned agin this summer for another short hair style and did so without hesitation. Kathryn is so friendly, has made me feel confident in trying shorter styles, given/showed me easy tips on styling, and even though I only see her a couple of times a year she always remembers me. Kathryn is an awesome stylist! She managed to fix my botched, uneven haircut without cutting off all my hair, which is what I fully expected to happen when I made an appointment for the correction. She's very personable and super nice!
