I had one of those rare unusual experiences here. In short, not good experience with my stylist but a very good customer service experience from the management and everyone else whom I encountered with. Long story! I may not return to my stylist however out of respect I wouldn't disclose my stylist name. I went in there for a consult with my frizzy hair and also wanted to do root touch up. I have had highlights from before. During my consultation, I was suggested by my stylist to do a hair keratin treatment. And she/he dint really talk about the root touch up, which was fine to me too. On my hair service day, when my root touch up was about to start, she/he asked me if I want to keep my highlights. I said yah, would like to keep my highlights. She/he also said that since some of my grey roots were longer more than about an inch, I'd be charged for a single process color $95 instead of root touch up $75. I gave my okay to that. Then work got started and all of my services were completed. Next day, I noticed several grey hairs still. I called up with my concern on the following business day. I was asked to come in so that my stylist can have a look. I went in there greeted my stylist asked how are you doing. She/he responded in a rude tone. Then after I addressed my concern, she/he went on raising her/his voice incrementally blaming me that I wanted to keep my highlights and that my greys were too long. I have to mention that I had been calm all throughout. For me it was not a big deal, it was just a minor error, which can be corrected easily. I dint go there to complain or scream at anyone, just wanted to see if that can be corrected. She/he made a huge deal out of it. She/he made me feel like it was my mistake that I had a complicated hair service request. Well, I'd say any professional's potential is tested on how one copes to new challenges. However, shout out to Teresa at customer service for the way she handled the situation. She was there to witness. She said that she'd let her manage know and gave me a form to fill up. Meanwhile, my stylist stormed out of the salon. Teresa was so empathetic! She dint assure me anything just said that she'd follow up with her manager. But, had been so compassionate throughout. It was a challenging situation for her too. She reacted so well at the situation, without taking anyones side. To me, unlike my stylist, she really thrived at her challenge! Following day, I got a call from their manager and she was really very nice as well! She set me up an appointment with another stylist to see what they can do. My second stylist tried to fix it as much as she could, which is all I wanted. Too much of unnecessary drama by my stylist. It'd have been solved right there, all she/he needed to do was tell me how you can help and if not explain to me what repercussions it may have to my hair. For the whole trauma that I had to go through, I'd have given a 1 star. However, for everyone else and everything else at this place I'd have to give a 4 star. read more

I got a haircut on a Tuesday 3/29. When I got home, I noticed it was VERY choppy. As it dried, it got worse. Some chunks were super long. I asked for face framing and I didn't see it. She tried to do a "u-shape" on the back/bottom of my hair but it didn't work. When I called the next day 3/30 around 12 pm to get someone to please fix it. The lady who answered said no, the original stylist would do it. I asked twice to get another person to fix it. She then booked me with the same girl for two days later at 4:30. The right thing would've said come in today and let me find someone to fix it. That's all I needed. I got it fixed by someone else so called back Friday 4/1 to talk to someone about my service. I was told someone would call me the week after. No one did. When I looked through my emails for a contact 4/7, I noticed I got an email around 6 pm to either leave a review or text the manager on 3/31. When I texted the manager/owner, I was told I should've contacted them first. This business has no communication or protocol among their employees. I was sorely disappointed in this establishment and had Tousled not closed down, I wouldn't be coming here. The owner replied to my Google review saying I wanted $85 back and I am a racist- to that I say: I did not ask for an $85 refund. I told her what the total amount of what I paid ($45 haircut, $20 tip, and $20 to fix it at another salon). I have texts proving this conversation. I asked for a full or partial refund on the $45 haircut. I also said that the woman who answered the phone had a heavy accent so that she would be held accountable for not ALLOWING ME another person to fix my hair. She did not state her name. Saying someone has a heavy accent is not racist. This was not in ANY way derogatory. It was matter of fact. Again, better YOUR communication and protocol among your employees. Absolutely not recommending this place. If you are used to higher customer service and transparency on what you are investing in yourself than this is not the place. If you have super short hair maybe it's easier for this establishment to deliver good service. For my experience it was not to my expectations. The Alchemy and River Oaks are my go to places, so tried this place for a first time trying to give it benefit of doubt but it's a flop. My hair looks the same way I partially walked into. It looks different only for the blow dry but it's nothing I have done myself. The product used was too much and it was very obvious the hair tech did not know how to calculate appropriately for my hair work. My 15 year old daughter came in for a trim. We agreed with the stylist to take an inch off. Next thing I know a huge 3inch piece was tossed on the ground. Horrified! That's not the worst if it. When I brought up how we discussed an inch, the stylist got all flustered and said no...that's not what your daughter said. (she did. I was literally right there). The stylist Left the area. Came back and said she couldn't finish the cut. Next thing I know, she's grabbing her purse and hightailed it out the door. After 5 minutes I spoke to the 2 ladies at the front. Rachel came and tried to save it, but it's a lost cause. While waiting for some ransomd person to dry her hair, I unbuttoned the cape and told the front desk were even. I'm not paying. My daughter is so upset..was in tears when we got home. It's going to have to be chopped off. I'm 45 and NEVER had this happen to me. The behavior of the stylist abandoning us was appalling. Horrible customer service was received. I would not recommend anyone to go there because they are very shady with their pricing and misguide you to bring you in. About service and quality: They will misguide you. Mae did my haircut and color. She colored my hair single color and I already told her during the consultation that my main problem is grey coverage, she said yeah with single color your grey will be covered. Once the hair were dried, my grey didn't take on any color and were just as is. Mae initially kept on telling me that it is what it is and she can't cover them without making it darker and there is no way of doing it. When the manager came, she totally changed her statement and said yes she can cover this grey that are left behind with a few foils and it will not be dark and there will be no extra charge, because they were not covered before. Huh?! Anyways, she did cover the grey after all with just 3 extra foils. About the pricing: When my friend booked the appointment for me, she made sure to ask them about their promotions and they said we are running a free haircut with any hair color promotion and also a new member discount for $20. Mae during my appointment brought me the new member coupon and told me "don't forget to use your coupon and your haircut is included as it was told to you on the phone" I asked her what my total is going to be after the appointment and she said about $120-$125, because of our promotions. After the consultation, I got my services done and when I went to pay the bill, the customer service lady Kelsy who was extremely rude- told me that it's $190. How would you like to pay for it. When I asked her how did she came up with this number, she said oh, your haircut and your color. I asked her about the promotion and the coupon which we were told when we booked and that lady got frustrated and said yeah must have someone given you the wrong information- even the stylist kept on saying that these are new members and kept on apologizing to us initially for the color but kelsey was extremely rude. She then took out $65 worth of hair cut service from my bill and told me your total is 145. Do the math: 190-65 = 125 ( which I was told during consultation with Mae) They charged me extra for the grey coverage which they didn't color initially and told me there is no extra fee. When I asked her about the miscalculation- she said oh your initial total was 210, I just didn't tell you and applied a coupon. Ummm excuse me? You were not even taking any coupon in the first place. She was making excuses like oh my stylist is loosing money on haircut- but your salon is the one who is running this promotion so how is it the customer's fault? Kelsey then went ahead and told me that the owner is TOO BUSY to talk to you right now and she will call you tomorrow. Which I still haven't received. This place is doing some extremely shady business. I would never recommend anyone to go here. I had a friend with me who witnessed everything and even the stylist kept on apologizing for this extremely rude behavior. They are definitely cons. When I asked her for a print receipt, the receipt doesn't show anything no taxes, no breakdown of how the extra color was used, it just says color services : $145 everything else is zero. I came here on a Friday afternoon thinking maybe I'll get lucky and walk right in, get rejected for same day service or wait a while.... To my surprise, I was seated right away with a stylist named Mae... For a salon in my area I must say, I enjoyed my experience!!! You see I haven't done anything with my hair for about a year...it grew super long, super nappy and has split ends. My balayage was brassy and there was no life! I was also going out that night. Luckily Mae took my hair and transformed it into from a lifeless piece to a Picasso! Lol!! Really! She cut the split ends but length is still long, gave me long layers and toned down the brassiness of my balayage. Then she styled it for my night out!!! Love love it! Had an awesome experience here. When I walked in I was greeted by the owner. The salon is posh and modern, looks like it came out of a catalog. I came for a wash, cut and blow dry from Anais ($40). She was sweet and professional. I got a mini neck and hand massage and she took care to listen to what I wanted and offer suggestions. My hair was so soft and shiny after. The whole experience was very luxurious, she wrapped my hair in a hot towel after conditioning to help it soak in and put my feet up, and when they gave me water it came in a cute little mason jar as opposed to a disposable plastic bottle which also elevated the experience. Generally, I'm never one to spend a lot of money on hair cuts or to get them often, but I really enjoyed this. $40 for wash, cut and style is a steal. To make things even better, I could use my new client special which was $20 off a $50 purchase. Since my cut was only $40, I was able to get a product as well to reach my minimum. I didn't feel they were pushy at all when it came to sales, they answered my questions and anais even steered me away from products that wouldn't serve me. I even walked away with two free samples! $260 to end up with my hair like this? Full head of highlights as I'm trying to go icy blonde, with the roots obviously not being fully processed. I went in for a consultation the day before and I should have knew then it would not end up how I wanted as the stylist kept asking the others about going icy blonde. But I decided with their guidance, she'd go a good job. As soon as she finished the blow dry she saw me looking at the end.. they were yellow. The day before another girl told her that pieces would need to be bleached to get this yellow tone out. Just really awful feeling when you except better. I scheduled my appointment weeks before my wedding. I was told Nadia would be doing my hair. I had a vision of what I wanted and booked early for 10am. When I got there, Nadia immediately told me my ethnicity was grounds to not do my hairstyle I was asking for. I'm used to stylists being discriminatory and it's why I had not till this day cut my hair for years. I was told the quote was closer to $45 and may vary, but for what I wanted shouldn't cost a lot more. Nadia took 3.5 hours to do basic curls that I could've had anyone do. It took no skill. She charged me $200+ she also ran me late on every other appointment. I didn't leave the salon till around 1:45 and I barely made it to my wedding and I had to cancel some appointments on top of that. I also was simultaneously paying for my maid of honors hair. That lovely lady took an hour tops and charged $75. I was shocked that there was no teamwork going on though. Not one person helped Nadia like real salons usually do. Not sure if that's a policy, but it felt so bad. The whole experience was simply not the vibe. I would have never thought someone would rob me of my time, money, and dreams on the day of my wedding and leave me with a style I never wanted. Little did I know that consistency differs greatly between stylists and my 2nd visit was horrible. Just wish they would have provided me with a stylist familiar with keratin treatments. I've been going here for years, and the stylists vary, but there is a lot of turnover. I've had some pretty good experiences here, but never a "great" experience, and have had increasingly poor experiences. Of course, it depends on the stylist you go to, but my stylist didn't quite listen to me or what I wanted, kept making comments about how oily my hair is, and I had to repeatedly ask for the style I wanted before she did it. She also was not very friendly overall, and barely communicated with me about what she was doing. She never asked how I liked it either, I had to speak up at the end and ask for more to be done. Zena in Richmond started off with a handful of really great stylists who have all since left. The past 3 stylists I have attempted to use there have ended up with me having to go back or pay even more money for a color correction. They are unable to attract and retain the level of talent required to charge Aveda salon prices. I am tired of wasting my time (needing corrections after color processing problems) and money here. Be extremely careful with who you choose to visit and make sure you have the time and money to mess with going back until they get it right. A no refund policy is bad enough, but being asked to wait 5 days until they can get me in again is just bad business. I will save my money and go back to Top Knot in Katy. They cost more but I have never once been disappointed by their stylists or business practices. read more

I've had my hair highlighted here several times and really loved the salon. I paid way more because I loved the stylist and she went above and beyond. We moved 40 minutes away so it had been several months since I had an appointment. Found out the stylist who used to do my hair was no longer with the salon so I booked an appointment for PARTIAL highlights with someone new and was told her price was $80 (great, especially since COVID and I wouldn't spend $150+ on a random stylist). I came to the appt and showed the new stylist what I liked for my partial highlights. I EVEN SAID I WAS TURNING 30 THIS WEEKEND AND WAS HIGHLIGHTING IT TO HIDE MY BABY GREY STRANDS (jokes on me, she made my entire highlights grey for my birthday). I've never had full highlights (I thought that was how much hair was woven) and didn't know what was going on until AFTER my hair was almost done when the stylist said she did full highlights, not partial, which we NEVER discussed. My hair ended up SUPER grey after the toner. She did let me know it would wash out, but until then, I've aged 20 years and it looks terrible. My total ended up being $200. They charged me for the full highlight even though this was not what I asked for. I expected a charge for toner but was given two different prices. When I tried speaking with the manager about the huge price discrepancy she gave me different reasons as to why I had to pay it - "I used to pay that much with the previous stylist", "I have more hair", "It's based on how much time they spend with you", "We had to push her other appointments because she did full highlights". The manager said she would "honor" my old stylist fee of $120 for partial + toner. My old stylist was amazing and did what I asked. Now my hair was done incorrectly and it's grey. Would not recommend at all. I would recommend a salon that doesn't charge you for their mistakes. UPDATE: MY HUSBAND JUST SHOWED ME THE BACK OF MY HAIR! He was amazing my hair felt amazing didn't feel dead at all but for $500 and for my hair to look kinda the same some? She moved away and I decided to play Russian Roulette and go with a lady named Zahra. I went to her a couple of times and was satisfied. This last time, I decided to go from blonde to a copper color. We picked the swatches out together and long story short, she turned my hair into a dark purplish color. Kept telling me it would fade. Never did fade to copper. I was so upset leaving the salon. On top of that I confront her and ask if she did permanent hair color (which we NEVER discussed) and she said "yes I did, we talked about it and you just don't remember." The salon was nice and quiet on a Sunday so it was a really relaxing experience. I needed to get my eye brows done and after talking to Eliana I felt comfortable to go ahead and have them done. I went here based off of multiple referrals to see hairstylist Kara. It looks really nice inside, cushiony seating at the entrance, lots of Aveda products on shelves and the hairstylists in the back. Further back are what I assume the rooms for other services like massage and waxes. The bathroom was super clean and smelled great. Great appointment setup experience. I called, requested my service and you receive multiple texts, calls and emails to remind you of appointment. After brief consultation (bring photos to help stylists out) she gave me a mini neck and shoulder massage then we went to the hair washing station. I have ALWAYS loved their products. I think they usually use rosemary mint shampoo and conditioner but this time they gave me a hot towel head wrap after conditioner and gave me a mini hand massage ( I loved the lotion and bought a travel size). I asked for multiple layers in my hair, something another hair stylist at a different place couldn't make happen for me. Kara understood immediately and gave me a truly terrific cut! Not 5 stars because they do try to sell you on products at the end. A lot more gently than other places I have visited but other salons also don't try that. I called in for an appointment yesterday and got in for a haircut. Hector (my hair stylist) seems like a great guy but I think he was in a hurry. So my hair's were cut uneven from the left side and the job was done very quickly. Comb kept hitting me in my head and and machine kept pulling my hairs. He used a machine to make the edges on the neck. When I asked him to use a razor he just picked one from his desk and used it and I am not sure if it was a new one. I feared that he didn't wanted to do his Job and that perhaps this was forced upon him or something. Job done carelessly and unprofessional. I'd like to suggest that its ok if you don't wanna take a person in but then don't give them an appointment and treat them like shit and be unprofessional. I am writing this review after a long time. I just don't like to put people down but I think I need to let others know if they are booking with Kacy, the guy, to be very careful. He charged my medium length hair $350 (not including tip) for color and did not do what was promised. He left a patch of hair that was undone from the top and then acted like that never happened. I went home and took pictures and showed him when I went back to get it corrected. He then charged me an extra $50 to fix the problem but ended up doing nothing meaning no difference was made. I spoke to management and they said they can't do much about the situation because the stylists are independently working and are the ones who make the decisions. I am still furious about his attitude and his way of speaking to me after blaming me for not coming back to him sooner. I was traveling and I couldn't come back right away.
