Walked into this quaint bakery with a comforting familiar sweet aroma that hit me delightfully in the face, the type of smell that a dessert lover will immediately know she had just walked into a bakery that will not disappoint. My sixth sense was correct! From the large cookies, diverse selection, to the very warm and welcoming lady that helped us....this bakery was worth the detour home. My son picked the M&M double chocolate chip cookie. It has the most loaded M&Ms in a cookie I've ever seen. The texture was crunchy around the edges with a soft semi chewy center that also resembled the consistency between a brownie and a cookie. I picked the toffee chocolate chip and the lemon sugar cookie. The toffee CCC had a crunchy exterior (probably from the melted toffee) which elevated the usual chocolate chip cookie. The lemon sugar cookie was soft in texture which I liked. I wouldn't have minded a little more lemon taste but it was still good. If this bakery were near where I live, I'd go every week! read more

Today, while I was in the area craving a sweet treat, I stumbled upon Kathy's Famous Cookies--and what a find! As someone who's a self-proclaimed chocolate chip cookie fanatic and a frequent traveler for work, I've visited my fair share of bakeries. But walking into this little slice of heaven was something special. To top it all off, I had the pleasure of meeting Kathy herself! She was so warm and welcoming, and took the time to show me her beautiful creations--each one a true work of art. You can genuinely feel the love she pours into her craft. Kathy's Cookies is one of the best bakeries located in Milford, CT and along the shoreline. I love they have gluten free options and are available in most Big Y supermarkets. I went to their Milford storefront this weekend since I had to see their adorable dessert options. I was asked if I needed help right away. They always have kind and helpful staff. I asked about ingredients in their cake truffles and they told me they only have buttercream, which was incredibly helpful for a loved one I know with food sensitivities. The bakery is clean, organized and every customer complimented how heavenly it smelled as you walked in. I got the Easter Bunny cookie pictured and 2 cake truffles-- one lemon and one Funfetti. I recently ordered from Kathy's via Uber Eats and while I can't speak to the service or atmosphere, the cookies are delicious! I ordered several different kinds to try such as chocolate chip, double chocolate chip, cinnamon sugar and oatmeal chocolate chip. When I opened the box I couldn't believe how big they were! Definitely big enough to share, possibly with more than one other person.So far I've only tried the cinnamon sugar and it was delicious!!! These cookies, as I was previously told by close friends and The woman I was talking to in line (a healthcare worker) (shout out to our healthcare workers) Are even better, tastier and larger than insomnia cookies over in New Haven. These cookies are slightly crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. I don't know how Kathy does it. Trade secret she said. Anytime I've ever had cookies its been either all crispy or all chewy and soft. One or the other. This is a serious tradecraft secret that Kathy has. She is a darling. Then onto the bag of mini chocolate chip cookies. OMG. Yes they are just as wonderful as the large ones. But these are there ones that are crispy all the way through. Absolutely amazing and just as delicious. These cookies are absolutely ridiculous. They're so good. Did I tell you how good they are? I also tried the soft biscotti. It was an experiment of Kathy's. Has a hint of raspberry sauce drizzled into the icing on top. Another winner. This woman is a true artist in the whole sense of the word. She truly is. Simply the best cookies around, Kathy's Cookies does an incredible job. My husband and I have ordered platters for a number of occasions and they really make everyone's day. A fabulous variety, so I'm hard pressed to pick a favorite. They also make amazing scones, cupcakes, mandel bread, and biscotti. If you want delicious gluten-free cupcakes and cookies in Mlford.. this is the place to get them! I bought a package of gluten free, chocolate dipped oatmeal cookies. All I can say is OMG! They were crisp and not too sweet. The chocolate was melt in your mouth delicious! I spoke with Kathy about other options as there was just a small selection in the store. She was very warm and accommodating and said that she would make me whatever cookies or cupcakes I wanted with some notice. Wow, they have a huge selection. I am really impressed by the friendly staff and quality of their sweets. Affordable too! The biscottis are huge and so good! Anyone who said they don't like biscotti should try these. The cookies are great too! I haven't tried the cupcakes yet but they look very good, they will literally explain every flavor to you if you want, so don't feel bad asking. I also got a lime bar which needed a little more lime but was otherwise very yummy. The brownies are top notch. I can't wait to come back and try more, dangerous to have this place so close to home. I do believe they have coffee too which would go great with your biscotti. There must have been 10+ varieties of biscotti. My daughter used Door Dash to send goodies to her dad for his birthday (she's in Philly, we are here in CT.) What he got was NOT what she ordered. He got this box of huge, gloppy cookies, mostly sugar cookies (the cheapest kind encrusted in cheap, multi colored sugar.) She sent us a picture of her order & she had carefully chosen a variety of baked goods - all premium products. Anyone who has eaten gluten-free for any amount of time knows it can be really hit or miss. There is a good chance a baked item that looks lovely will taste like sand, have the density of a brick or have little taste at all. My husband found Kathy's recently, he said they were very helpful in the store with selecting items for me to try. He ended up bringing home a four pack of cake truffles and two enormous chocolate chip biscotti drizzled in chocolate. The cake truffles, if I didn't know they were GF I would assume they were just a delectable treat. Moist on the inside with wonderful flavor, one with a cup of coffee...amazing. The biscotti, enormous, big enough to share and delicious enough that you could share this with someone not eating GF and they would thoroughly enjoy it. Prices are also reasonable especially considering the sizes, you definitely get your money's worth here. He also brought home cookies for the kids, literally the size of your face and chocked full of flavor. They do not skimp on anything here. Reading the ingredients, they are a lot more nutritional than many other choices. Price is reasonable, staff is very friendly, everything is fresh and if you want a "day old cookie", which I sometimes do, they are a bargain. I'll sit in the parking lot, read my newspaper and enjoy a feast before going on to my next activity for the day. They do have an assortment of pastries, desserts and always fresh. The service is great as well. The owner and the associates are always welcoming.
