I would like to send my best wishes to Kyra!!! We ordered a chocolate cake and a strawberry mousse cake. Both were delicious and cooked flawlessly. I also appreciated the fact that Kyra did not try to upsell us. We asked her how much cake we needed for the # of guests we have. Both she and the baker said that the order we entered would be a LOT of cake and would result in massive leftovers. We would not have space in our fridge for that much leftover cake. I appreciated the fact that Kyra was honest and gave us a good recommendation as opposed to trying to sell us more than what we needed. That type of professional honesty results in repeat customers. I hope I am not getting the locations mixed up but I am 99% sure it was this location.. The other location did not have a good one -- This was the most phenomenal black n white cookie.. Like the ones I used to get in the city when I was little. It had fresh frosting on it that tasted of delicious real chocolate! Not that dried up tasteless icing. This bakery was a life saver! I needed a bday cake for my mother's 70th bday as the cake that I ordered from another place turned out to be a big disappointment. I was so upset that I wouldn't be able to find a cake on such short notice but then I came across this bakery on yelp. After reading some reviews, I took the 15 min drive and boy did they deliver....The women in the bakery were so patient, friendly, and helpful...from the decorating to finishing the cake in less than 30 mins. One of the best bakeries I have ever been too and with so much selection that I got a little bit of everything without it costing me much. Went at 7 in the morning and had the pick from everything. Cookies and cannolis are the best. The pastries from the apple fritter to the danishes can't be beat. Even got a sourdough bread which is better than most places that specialize in bread. The staff is super friendly and give you a traditional market feeling. Get the real Italian bakery vibe without being in New York. Ladies behind the counter were very nice to me and would suggest what they thought was people's favorites and even the man who came out the back was happy to see me. My grandparents were from Hungary, Poland, and Ukraine, so I was excited to find this bakery. I don't know how people can give a good review - by far the worst chocolate chip cookie I've ever had - tasteless, hard, not chocolately at all, the black and white cookie is like cake, also terrible and way too sweet. For a bakery not located on the Boston Post Road they have a fairly large selection of pastries, pies, and cakes. Driving by, what caught my attention was the many different country flags painted in the exterior of the building. I thought..... is it an Italian bakery? Is it a Polish bakery? Is it a German bakery? I'd say it's a little-bit-of-everything bakery. Their paczki's (Polish) are pretty good and packed with a lot of fruity jam. Their cannoli's (Italian) taste of all sugar, little ricotta, and could use a little more work. Their tres leche cake.... well I asked for their tres leche cake and I mistakenly received some type of caramel cake with no milk in it, so I cannot really comment about their tres leche cake. The caramel cake was OK. I notice that they make a lot of custom cakes (ie; birthday cakes). There's really no tables or chairs inside but there's a couple outside. The view isn't anything special because they're basically overlooking their parking lot. Prices seem fairly reasonable. I realize reviewers are saying it's not as grandiose or opulent as a NYC bakery. Well, la-dee-da, good for them. They can pay higher prices in the city if they want. I like living in Connecticut where prices are more reasonable and where my entire paycheck doesn't go towards food and living in a closet. Even if the pastries and desserts aren't the absolute best in the world. Ambrosia serves its purpose A-OK. read more

I had a very unpleasant experience with them and tried to let them know through phone calls, E-mail and their website before posting a review and now I can add poor customer service to my list. No one ever got back to me. I ordered a cake for a small civil ceremony and asked for red white and blue decorations. (the groom is a marine and is going over seas) I took it out of the box at the restaurant and they did red, white and A LOT of green. It looked like I ordered a Christmas cake! The cake was lopsided and the frosting on the sides was so thin, you could see the cake bleeding through. I could have made a better cake at home and I don't even bake....And it would not have cost me 36 dollars. I do have to add...the girls I dealt with were very friendly. We also have gone back a couple of times for their smaller pastries, cannolis, small square cakes. This year I went back and the lady there helped me out with a last minute request. Every time I go in the store, kids are working the counter and don't know the products. It doesn't help the shopping g experience when you try to be friendly and ask" what is your favorite cookie?" This place was alright, but I wasn't totally impressed. I mean, I'm not a bakery snob or anything, but I have set my standards pretty high thanks to living in Boston and NYC...so a run of the mill bakery doesn't always cut it for me anymore. This is not to say it's bad, and it's not to say it isn't still ten times better or more than I could ever make myself! Ambrosia had quite the selection to start with - variety of cookies, cakes, canolis and other Italian delicacies. I have to say I was ecstatic when I saw rainbow cookies under the glass! I haven't had any of these since living in Manhattan. Well, they certainly weren't my Orwasher's...that's for sure. I didn't even finish them. Typically, I have to restrain myself from inhaling an entire dozen when purchased from my UES favorite... We also got a couple slices of cake and a few canolis. Red velvet and Oreo cakes weren't anything to write home about, but were good to satisfy a sweet tooth in a pinch. The boy seemed to enjoy his canoli very much. I'm not one for canolis in the first place, so my word doesn't hold much here. The counter attendant was friendly and seemed to be willing and able to offer help if we needed it. Prices were more than reasonable. The inside of the shop is pretty boring, but then again, you're in the 'burbs and just there to buy the sweets. It isn't a city-bakery where you'd typically sit and chat or surf while enjoying your treat and a coffee or tea. The parking lot is oddly arranged, you can't really tell where the spaces are and it is very tight. All in all, I'd go back, only if I was in the area and had a hankering for a specific type of desert that I'd expect them to have. read more

This amazing bakery had tons of baked goods - cookies, cupcakes, pastries, muffins. You name it, it had it in massive calorie-inducing form. All of them looked so attractive, I wanted to buy some to bring back to my Mom (in Raleigh, NC) so I am going to have to figure out a way to pack them nice and tight in my suitcase! Prices are fairly cheap ($2 got me a muffin and a croissant and I was going to spend more than that on a piece of pound cake at Starbucks!) but I'm not sure how much cupcakes and cookies are.
