    Dry dry dryyyyy Flavorless rice.

Four years later and here we are. Okay The food lost its taste. I'm not sure why. But the rice and beans are so fluffy with WATER. ITS LEGIT NOT even dark brown anymore. It's white/ very light brown. No flavorrrrrrr. Idk man. Then the griot is always burnt and over fried. Then there's never no picklez. Like how are you serving griot with no picklezzzzz. Gosh. Then the prices are skyrocketing but the portion sizes are not changing. $17 for a small container of boulett is insane. One day it's $15 next day $16 next day $17 next day back to $15 then back to $17. Prices are made at the register. It's weird. I use to go everyday to this spot. Not anymore. I rather stick to chipotle for a fixed amount $15 and good tasting food.

Great place, food is delicious, and friendly atmosphere, all around great people I highly recommend visiting

Time for some good Haitian food!

Great local restaurant if you are in the mood for authentic Haitian cuisine. Katou is about two blocks away from me so its very convenient! I arrived about 12:30pm this Sat afternoon. It was empty (just opened at noon). Upon arrival I was greeted by a gentlemen who took my order. I end up getting the fired turkey with rice and beans .Little did i know, I was in for a surprise! The amount of food I got for 12 bucks was fit for two! I got a side salad, fried plantains, one plate filled with rice, and another with my fried turkey with sauces on the side. The food was so good! To think of it, I do have some leftovers waiting for me...

The combination of flavors was great and the portions did not miss at all. The dressing that comes with the cabbage was sooo tasty. The patties stole the show with enough meat inside and the dough was perfect. The lemonade was a nice refreshing drinking to wash everything down. Yall should definitely come check this place out. ‍

I ordered the $16 lunch special to go, which included a green plantain sandwich filled with griot, a small salad, and passion fruit lemonade. The food was absolutely perfect. The griot was expertly prepared: tender and well seasoned with a citrusy flavor that makes authentic Haitian fried pork so delicious; less is really more for this dish. The meat tasted fresh, flavorful, and carefully cooked; it wasn't greasy, dry, or overly salty. Instead of traditional bread, the sandwich was made with fried green plantains. The small salad was fresh. . The passion fruit lemonade was tropical and really refreshing. For $16 the quality, portion and overall value is not bad at all. (They also have $5 happy hour specials). I waited approximately 15 minutes for my takeout order, but it was worth it. The food tasted freshly prepared rather than rushed or sitting around and microwaved. A special thank you to Paolane, the hostess. She was sweet, professional, patient, and genuinely helpful. Since this was my first visit, she took the time to help me understand the menu and choose my order. Her excellent customer service made a wonderful first impression. Although I ordered takeout, I noticed that the restaurant was very clean, comfortable, and inviting. The climate control was perfect which may seem like a small detail but it made the wait much more pleasant. The décor was tasteful and polished. I also noticed that dine in meals are presented on adorable wooden style plates and bowls which adds something special to the dining experience. I also ordered a Haitian hot chocolate for my grandson. He is a very picky eater, so I'll update this review once it passes his official taste test. BunNan delivered authentic flavor, thoughtful presentation, excellent service, and impressive value. I wish they had a long Island location but I will definitely return!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND them a try.

There is a server there who sucks her teeth and slams plates every time we are dining in. The most recent time she snatched the red napkin off of my wife's lap without so much as a word. We are generally, my wife (a black woman) specifically, are treated like we are not supposed to be eating there. After the dinner cloths was snatched off my wife's lap and we were given vegetable soup with meat in it, I decided we would take our mains to go. I went to the counter to ask for takeaway and they asked why I was leaving and handed me a phone with someone on it that asked me why I was leaving. They charged is $27 for the two small soups. The food is good and we strongly recommend that the owner Martine retrains her staff or makes the food completely takeout due to the dining service being impossible to enjoy.

The space is beautiful and very well decorated, and the servers were kind and knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the djon djon rice bowl with oxtail, the fritay platter, and soup joumou, and we also tried the Sunday special with white rice and sos pwa. My dish came out after everyone else's, so I ended up taking it to go, which was disappointing. The fritay platter was a highlight. The plantains were crispy and the akra and marinade were well seasoned. My mom enjoyed her soup, but felt the sos pwa was a bit watery and could have been thicker. When I got home, the rice had a great texture but the aroma smelled slightly burnt, maybe they were going for a smoky flavor. The oxtail was well flavored, but I did find a small piece of plastic in my rice, which was concerning. Overall it was okay, but it did not blow me away. I have had better Haitian food at cookouts or family gatherings, though if this is your first time trying Haitian food, you may enjoy it.

I can prove my Haitian ethnicity by cooking traditional dishes. The legume was on point! That dish was my favorite. My friend truly enjoyed her salmon. Honestly, I wish I had gotten the salmon to take home instead of the Haitian fried chicken. Now, that wasn't that great to me, and I didn't enjoy it :( I'm still giving them all the stars and all the props because I really appreciated the service. This was my first time trying a Haitian patty with spinach, and it was absolutely fantastic. I think it's even better than the chickpea one. I would definitely highly recommend this place and also go back. But the Haitian fried chicken need to be better. Still, I'll definitely come again and try the salmon next time!!!

The owner and manager knowingly triple booked the space and refused to do the right thing. A contract was signed two months ago for a high school graduation dinner for 50 people; two days before the event when the owner was aware there was conflict, he asked if my cousin could push back her event 'til 7pm. After speaking to the other two event coordinators, I was told that their events were only scheduled and booked by the owner Two weeks ago (both the baby shower and a health event). Again, the owner knew this was the case and did not make himself present or discuss the situation with my cousin or the health coordinator his mistake. The baby shower which was booked two weeks ago was scheduled from 2-8pm; and the health event was scheduled from 5-9. Upon the arrival of our family, we were flabbergasted by the fact that not only was the first event still taking place, but it was not scheduled to end until 8pm. Despite knowing all of this the owner still requested all parties to remit full payment though he knew he was already in breach of his contract with my cousin. Tonight, not only did he make himself unavailable or be present to diffuse the situation; he also had no managers on hand to troubleshoot the situation. Several calls to the owner went unanswered. He finally had a young staff member relay a message that he will call my cousin (several hours after this event was supposed to start) to "see what he can do". Over an hour later and he never responded. COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL. Spare yourself the headache and frustration. Do not come here. I made reservations for 6:30 PM for five (5) adults. I knew it was not meant to be as soon as we walked in. We arrived at 6:45 PM and was told they would have to find us a table (there were several empty tables that were large enough to accommodate). We stood for 7 minutes before a gentleman came and sat us down. The table was bare, the only thing on the table was table cloth. It took approximately 25 minutes for someone to come and take our order. I didn't know that they had a live band and it was too loud for such a small place. The Menu had a fix price for $65 per person. The person who finally came to take orders sat at our table and cross of many items that were not available. It took another half an hour for someone to come place water at the table and gave us eating utensils. According to the menu, each of us would start our meal with a salad. The salad never came. We asked for a drink menu, we were told that they had nothing really to drink. We each order an appetizer from the menu, they brought us one plate with items on it. Mistakes were made in everything that we ordered to eat and others near us had the same issue. The original server that took all the food orders never came back to our table. The service was horrible. This was an embarrassing Mother's Day dinner. At the end, they presented me with a bill for $458. I will never return and I suggest that if any of you are considering going to this restaurant, don't bother. I would have been better off going to order food at Kal's Bakery & Restaurant and go home to eat. It would have cost me $17-$30 and would not have spent 3 hours being frustrated and embarrassed to have taken my mother, sister and other family members there.
