This place is delicious flavor. I came from Las Vegas and had to come here. This is a must whenever I come back to NY. "For sure a thumbs up" the people here were very friendly A MUST

Griot (Fried Pork) This is the amount that comes in the Large portion. Rice came separately in a bigger container.

Yes yes yes. Now I'm a little ashamed to admit how long it took me to finally try Haitian food being that I'm Dominican and we literally come from the same place but hey better late than never right? There are actually quite a few restaurants around me but unfortunately almost all of them lack reviews on Yelp and Google. When it comes to ordering food delivery, that's something that will deter me from ordering. Only because I didn't grow up in this part of Brooklyn so if I haven't seen the place in person, I tend to get worrisome. Trust me, I know that some of the best places to eat are the little hole in the wall spots and some of my favorite places to eat fit that description but I have to personally know the place and have been there to trust it. Anyway, I was really craving Caribbean cuisine and went with this location because it had great customer reviews on Doordash. I ordered the Griot with rice and beans in the large size. It came so quick and piping hot. I guess when you order the large they send the meat and rice separately? Don't quote me on that. The rice came in a huge aluminum container and was more than enough to feed 2-4 people. The meat however came in the regular round aluminum container. This is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. I ordered the large in order to have leftovers. I had PLENTY of rice left, however because the griot also came with three tostones (fried plantains) and lots of onions all packed in a smaller container, it was not a full serving of meat. It was fricking delicious but they sent me all that rice and a side of potato salad (not sure if that was a mistake or complimentary) to eat with a small amount of meat in comparison. It should be the same size. Yelp won't let me upload the video so a screenshot will have to do. Let's get into the flavor though. That griot was *chefs kiss* and I knew it would be because of where we come from hello. Our cooking methods are literally the same and that pork wasp tender yet had a beautiful color to it from being fried after stewing. There were a few pieces that had fat on them that made my whole day. Pickled onions balanced the fattiness right out. The pikliz was so refreshing and just the right amount of spice to pair with the tostones. The free potato salad was also really good and I'm reaaaaalllly picky about that. The rice was a tad bit underwhelming in terms of flavor on its own but paired with the meat it was great. All in all, a solid Haitian restaurant and I cannot wait to try the rest of the menu.

so much rice comes with each large entrée

I had been looking for some good Haitian food for a while now so I decided to give this place a try. I ordered a large oxtail, a large stew chicken, a morue (salt fish) patty and a chicken patty. The total was $30. The food was just okay. The large entrees come with so much rice a 2 pieces of green plantain. The stew chicken was okay. The broth was the most exciting part about it. I excepted the stewed chicken to be juicy, but instead the chicken was hard and dry. The oxtail was good. There were substantial pieces of oxtail meat throughout the dish. The fish patty was also good. The chicken patty was a little dry. The service was super slow but the woman who served me was really friendly.

Rice and beans were good as well as the potato salad. The griot lacked flavor and the fatty pieces had a bad after taste.

The space is beautiful and very well decorated, and the servers were kind and knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the djon djon rice bowl with oxtail, the fritay platter, and soup joumou, and we also tried the Sunday special with white rice and sos pwa. My dish came out after everyone else's, so I ended up taking it to go, which was disappointing. The fritay platter was a highlight. The plantains were crispy and the akra and marinade were well seasoned. My mom enjoyed her soup, but felt the sos pwa was a bit watery and could have been thicker. When I got home, the rice had a great texture but the aroma smelled slightly burnt, maybe they were going for a smoky flavor. The oxtail was well flavored, but I did find a small piece of plastic in my rice, which was concerning. Overall it was okay, but it did not blow me away. I have had better Haitian food at cookouts or family gatherings, though if this is your first time trying Haitian food, you may enjoy it.

I can prove my Haitian ethnicity by cooking traditional dishes. The legume was on point! That dish was my favorite. My friend truly enjoyed her salmon. Honestly, I wish I had gotten the salmon to take home instead of the Haitian fried chicken. Now, that wasn't that great to me, and I didn't enjoy it :( I'm still giving them all the stars and all the props because I really appreciated the service. This was my first time trying a Haitian patty with spinach, and it was absolutely fantastic. I think it's even better than the chickpea one. I would definitely highly recommend this place and also go back. But the Haitian fried chicken need to be better. Still, I'll definitely come again and try the salmon next time!!!

I can't put my finger on it but it didn't have a flavor of ANY blend of natural cheeses. I'd know, I'm a cheese connoisseur! Perhaps they use imitation cheese. Simply put, their macaroni au gratin is inauthentic as in no veggies (onions, bell peppers) nor ham or ground beef used either. At least the Diri Djon Djon and Lalo was decent. I've had better Salad Russe. It was either missing onions or salt. The condiment cup of Pikliz is shorter and smaller than the usual 1.5 oz. Most restaurants provide sizes 2 oz and larger and that's how I was able to tell the difference. I never even knew those solo dipping cups came any smaller! Probably so you can ask for more so they can charge extra. Not only do they make sure to cut corners on the Pikliz. Which wasn't even enough to mask their thick, brown, over-fried, DRY and STALE bannann peze that has been sitting out. After they cut the plantains they don't soak in salted water. Bannann peze SHOULD NOT be so thick, should be made-to-order and served hot, fresh, golden and crispy. Just look at their photos and see for yourselves compared to other bannann peze / tostones you've eaten / seen. Then to ask if I need utensils for a to-go order? No ma'am, I'll be using my fingers and eating out of my hands today, thanks for asking. Don't ask, just automatically include utensils in the bag for the astronomic amount you charge for your food. Chain restaurants or even mom & pops all simply include utensils and napkins when preparing to-go orders. Only time to get away with that is when delivering. At which most times customer may decline since they're home / work and may already have those items. Price point - garbage for side of macaroni au gratin I'll let you all be surprised for yourselves on the rest on menu. * If anyone gave this restaurant 5 stars... they're obviously not Haitian and/or their tastebuds are shot.

Nothing too special in taste, really bland, not even a hint of salt n pepper; even the pikliz didn't help. The Akra was good, and the sausage was good. Also, I got a side of black rice, and that also was just Ok. The food was hot, at least. I appreciate the delivery from bedstuy, but I don't think I would order from there again. I settled on Haitian food, and after some Googles I settled on Anmwey Eatery. The reviews were good and it was only a 5 minute drive from my mom's house. I ordered at the counter when I arrived. I knew I wanted griot (fried pork) with black rice, so that's what I ordered. They were busy, so my food took about 30 minutes to be ready. I was fine with the wait. The bar seats were comfy and I was on my phone. There was also loud reggae music playing from the other room, so I was jammin. I got home and dug into my food and it was almost perfect. The griot was delicious. Just crunchy enough on the outside and tender on the inside. The black rice was a little disappointing, but nothing major. I love black rice, but it lacked flavor. Luckily they give you a side of gravy, which was tasty. I should've taken the girl at the counter up on her offer to get an extra side of gravy. I still devoured everything though. It also came with fried plantain. I'm not a huge fan of unsweet plantain, but it was good when I added the picklez to it. Picklez is spicy, so tread lightly if you don't like heat. 5 stars for Anmwey. I will certainly return.
