I wasn't lying when I said I love coming here before. The food and service is always good and the vibe is always so chill with the dim and neon lights. This time again I went back for griot and Jonjon rice and the portion size was so good I almost couldnt finish it. The drink the bartender made was also very delicious as usual.

Recently came to Rebel for my anniversary dinner and had such an amazing evening. I've been wanting to try this place forever! They have live music on Wednesdays and it is such a vibe! We started with the Tour of Haiti sampler and that goat was absolute perfection! Highly recommend getting this if you are new to Haitian cuisine -- that way you can try a bit of everything. This was my first time having fried goat but definetly won't be my last. The meat was so tender, seasoned, and perfectly crisp! For my entree I got the fried snapper. Also highly recommend! This is a bit pricey ($54) but worth it! At the end of our meal the own Raphael came to chat with us for a bit. Super down to earth guy. Will definitely be back again!

I always wanted to try this place and it definitely does deliver on vibes, service and food. We came on a Saturday evening, it was busy and lively with a DJ playing Afrobeats and Haitian music. We were able to get seated relatively quickly since it was just the two of us. The server was chill. I ordered a virgin Mojito with mango, which was delicious. We ordered the Accra appetizers, which came very quickly. They were nice, fresh, crispy, not too greasy. I ordered rice and beans and goat. Which was seasoned to perfection. They were not stingy with the goat meat, which I appreciated. I also appreciated that everything I ordered was in stock. If you know, you know. My leftovers the next day tasted even better. I definitely recommend this spot for vibes and food. It's definitely a place I will use to introduce my friends to Haitian food.

Rebel Haitian Restaurant was the perfect spot for a cozy date night. The atmosphere is intimate yet vibrant, with just the right energy to make the night feel special without being over the top. The food was absolutely amazing--rich, flavorful, and clearly made with love. Every bite felt like My culture comfort food elevated to another level. The seasonings and spices were on point, and the portions were generous without sacrificing presentation. The drinks were just as impressive. Creative, refreshing, and well-balanced--they paired beautifully with the bold flavors of the dishes. It's the kind of place where you can tell the bar and kitchen work hand in hand to create a full experience. What I really loved was how the staff made us feel welcomed and taken care of without hovering. Between the cozy atmosphere, the fantastic food, and the great drinks, Rebel Haitian was everything you'd want in a date night spot. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit.

I've never had Haitian food before so was super excited to try this place. We got the pulsd deal which comes with 1 appetizer, two entrees, 1 dessert, and two drinks (cocktail or wine). They seem severely understaffed with just one bartender and one waiter for the entire restaurant so service was really slow. The waiter seemed impatient and kept wanting to walk away while we were ordering. Later, a waitress came to help with service and she was a lot more hospitable and helpful. For appetizer, we got the Barbancourt mussels. The fried plantains were crispy and the mussels were cooked well. The best part was the delicious sauce. It was really flavorful and I wished I could take home the leftover sauce. For entree, we ordered the Rebel Griot (pork) and the Rebel Goat. The waiter didn't mention that the pork could be slow braised or fried and automatically ordered it as fried for us. The fried pork was a little dry and overcooked. The sauce helped moisten it up, but we would have preferred the slow braised option. I ordered the stewed goat, but they brought out fried goat. Thankfully they were able to take back the fried goat and replace it with the stewed one I originally ordered. The stewed goat was really moist and fell off the bone. The flavors were just the right amount of spiciness and paired with the rice well. I also really enjoyed the Djon Djon rice (traditional black rice). It had a nice chew and good flavor without being overpowering. For dessert, we got Pain Patate (potato bread pudding). It wasn't overly sweet which was nice.

As a Haitian who loves home-cooked Haitian food and is usually picky when it comes to Haitian restaurants, recommend this restaurant ! The food was good and delicious, I had no complaints for the food. And my friends who are from other cultures love the food too. I went on a weekday so it wasn't crowded. They also had Cremas, which is a sweet alcohol drink. They will let you sample it first if you ask and if you are not familiar with that drink. Since it's a very sweet, creamy drink with alcohol which is similar to Coquito but thicker, it's not for everyone, but I think people should try it. The restaurant had Haitian art on the walls and good Haitian music playing in the background. I recommend for people who want to try Haitian food and get a sense of the music and art. If you go, definitely get the griot, black rice, pikliz, and plantains.

Haitian restaurant in Brooklyn. The food was Soooooo good. ESPECIALLY the djon djon (black rice) I assumed my griot would come with plantains but it didn't. So I just ordered a side of them and they were soooooo good. Would definitely come back to Brooklyn just to try this again. Drink was stronggggg

I thoroughly enjoyed celebrating my girlfriend's birthday at Rebel. The DJ was spinning some great tunes, the bartender made us some amazing cocktails and the food tasted like my grandma' s cooking. The restaurant was full of beautiful and vibrant Haitian art! Will definitely be back again!

Really excited to try Haitian food and went with the red snapper at market price. I also tried the taro fritters and something else. Loved the rice. Snapper was well cooked but I really enjoyed all the fried red snapper I've had at Thai places. The punches were great I want to come back to try the guava one. It didn't exactly hit the spot for me but it was new and exciting and I'm happy it's a hot spot for many! We were a big group for a bday and got lucky we had two extra people show up, but one of the hostesses couldn't give away an extra table. That was a little awkward but in the end we took turns standing.

The food here is incredible. They have an array of dishes with a Caribbean twist. Some of the food is spicy so be prepared. The service was efficient and the food came out in a timely fashion. The happy hour here is great, but is only M-F. The drinks are delicious. The cozy ambiance is adorned with Caribbean pictures and ambient lighting. Enjoy!

I was with a big group for dinner. The food was amazing. The tour of Haiti was delish. The spicy side was a great compliment to everyone in the pattern that we sampled. I ordered the rebel goat and chose stew version with black rice. For dessert we ordered Pain Patate, no photo It was warmed up. It was mushy in a delectable way. Every Wednesdays they have live music.and the band playing was awesome. The entire staff were great. The only downside bwas that we have to wait to get seated even though we made a reservation (with deposit) hemc the 4 star rating. But the entire crew were amazing!

However, my next two experiences were extremely frustrating. During my boyfriend's early-morning visit, he was initially told there was no food available--even though the restaurant had just opened. Only after insisting did they offer limited options. Most recently, I ordered through Uber Eats and spent about $70. The containers were small and arrived half-filled. When I called to address the issue, the manager explained that because they pay Uber Eats fees, they don't provide full portions for delivery orders. That is not something any customer wants to hear, nor was any solution (like a coupon or replacement) offered. The food at Akra Deli tastes great, but the lack of consistency, poor customer service, and reduced portions for online orders make it hard to recommend. If you do choose to order, I strongly suggest going in person, otherwise you will likely not receive the amount of food you paid for. Overpriced and poor customer service!

At a Thai spot, I expect to see Thai people. At a Mexican spot, I expect to see Mexicans. You get the picture. So at this Haitian restaurant, there are always Haitians enjoying the food -- which tells you everything you need to know. If you're looking for an upscale yet still authentic Haitian restaurant, this is it. No matter what you order, they always start you off with a soup that's hot, rich, and flavorful. I usually begin with the Haitian caviar and smoked fish empanadas, then move on to either the Saveur Creole goat or the red snapper -- always with extra gravy, because I can't resist pouring it over their black rice (don't judge me). It's BYOB, so bring your drink of choice or grab something from the shop right next door. Another thing I love is that the owner, Robert, is usually there. He'll stop by your table, talk with you, and make the meal feel like a real experience. And if you admire the artwork on the walls -- he painted all of it himself. The space is beautiful and very well decorated, and the servers were kind and knowledgeable about the menu. My dish came out after everyone else's, so I ended up taking it to go, which was disappointing. The fritay platter was a highlight. The plantains were crispy and the akra and marinade were well seasoned. My mom enjoyed her soup, but felt the sos pwa was a bit watery and could have been thicker. When I got home, the rice had a great texture but the aroma smelled slightly burnt, maybe they were going for a smoky flavor. The oxtail was well flavored, but I did find a small piece of plastic in my rice, which was concerning. Overall it was okay, but it did not blow me away. I have had better Haitian food at cookouts or family gatherings, though if this is your first time trying Haitian food, you may enjoy it.
