Not a memorable experience. The food was pretty mediocre and disappointing. The service was just ok. The environment is nice, clean, inviting. We popped in for lunch. We were the only guests other than a crew from a landscaping company. We ordered the Mexican corn and was not forewarned that it has jalapeno in the seasoning. I was unable to eat it. When I asked the server if it had jalapeno she said yes. It was not listed in the menu that way. I paid for an order of corn I couldn't eat. The rest of the meal was so unmemorable I can't even recall what I ordered. I had to refer to my pictures. I had the pastor tacos. Traditionally they are pork with pineapple... Look at my pics.... NO pineapple - which is the whole point of that specific taco. Drowning it with cilantro and onions was not smart without the sweet pineapple to cut the spice. The drinks were ok. They are more attractive than tasty. My daughter ordered a margarita that had a little rubber ducky taking a bath. It was cute. read more

This had been some prior Mexcian restaurant that we never got around to trying. We were recently interested in an uncharacteristic mid-week meal dining out, and opted to drive down here for a change. You can access the parking lot either from Hwy 16 or from Hwy 85 (via the gas station), just FYI. The staff was quite friendly. They appeared to have a full bar. I got a combo, though I had to confirm that this was generally available and not just part of their lunch menu. They have a number of entrees, though none were exactly what I was looking for. My wife liked her taco platter. The house wine selection seemed expensive ($9.50 per glass). Décor leans heavily on Día de Muertos motifs - just an observation. We might go back, though it is somewhat of a drive for us. read more

We love the Molecajete. The one for one person is enough for both my husband and I. We're not big eaters at night so this is ideal. Great variety, good flavor, and nice sides. The beans are - in my opinion- THE best! I always get an order to go. Service is prompt. Nice and open inside. Would be nice if they had some outside seating. read more

The exterior of the building has a bright check me out feel. Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted right away by several servers. They were all very welcoming. Our server arrived within a couple minutes for our party of 5. We ordered 1 water, 2 unsweet teas, a margarita and the table guac (which was made in front of us). Y'all it was so fresh tasting and so good. We order 2 sets of fajitas one was for two people which we shared with our 2 year old and the other a single serving for our two family members to share. The food came out relatively quickly our drinks remained filled the entire time. For a table of 5 we had leftovers the proportions are more than you would expect. The bathrooms were kept up and the vibe of the entire restaurant was great. I wouldn't consider this an upscale place this would be good for large gatherings though. 1st time trying Katrinas and we'll definitely be back. You can judge a mexican restaurant by the quality of the chips & salsa. Katrinas has nice, thin, chips & you're served 2 salsas when seated. For traditional salsa was flavorful, not spicy & had a pureed texture. It was tasty but the other salsa you're served was delicious. It was a roasted tomato salsa that I fell in love with. I ordered a bowl w/chicken & my father ordered the same bowl but with steak. The meat on both bowls was tender & flavorful. The bowls are served with the meat & toppings all on top of rice & the meat portion is covered in cheese sauce. You also get black beans, sour cream, pico, guacamole, grilled onions & fresh corn. The corn tasted like it was fresh from the cobb. I was concerned from the pics that we would end up with canned sodas but the sodas were fountain & the coke was exceptional - nice & crisp. 4 out of 5 stars because imo the portion could have been a tiny bit bigger as a nice Togo plate would have been great to have with some of the leftover roasted tomato salsa read more

This is the first time I've been back to this place since the previous owners sold it. The food was very salty but if you like salty food like myself it was very tasty. The fish was grilled to perfection and the shrimp were not overcooked so the texture was on point. My drink was fresh and hit the spot. And finally the service was consistent and friendly. I really loved this place so it's unfortunate for me to finally have the courage to write this review as to why I can no longer come to this restaurant out of self respect. I am biracial and often get asked what I'm mixed with, or if I can speak Spanish. I've gotten used to this and can usually can roll with these prolific questions and put up my boundaries as necessary. However, during my last visit my server asked me if I spoke Spanish (This isn't a scenario where someone asked me because they struggled with English, their English was perfect before asking just wanted to clarify before I continue.) and when I said no, I was immediately treated as if I wasn't there. My partner received normal eye contact and smiles and responses to his thank yous, but I was suddenly avoided entirely. This has happened to me before as a biracial person, so I knew what was up. It's terrible to be made to feel like you do not belong somewhere no matter what you look like. Even more so when it's happening because you know it's prejudice and discrimination still lingering in this modern world. No I didn't tell a manager out of fear I would be met with similar issues. I leave this review as my testimony and a warning to anyone else who is like me not knowing what they might be walking into here. It's a real shame read more

I had high hopes to eat here but was disappointed. They say us next to the bar and we had a long wait to be served, once we did get the good, we were missing the tortillas and the sauce. This was very disappointing , food was very bland and no flavors at all. The best thing here was the chips and salsa. Our waiter was the bar tender and was very slow, I had one glass of tea for the whole dinner. The over all feeling of this place was ok at best. This restaurant is located on the corner of Hwys. 16 and 85, so it's very easy to find. Parking is plentiful, with designated handicapped spaces. The decor is very typical Mexican, with Day of the Dead, bright, colorful lights. There are plenty of tables. The staff is knowledgeable regarding their menu, pleasant and courteous. As soon as we were seated, chips and salsa was served. The chips are light and crisp, the salsa just enough heat without burning one's mouth. I chose a margarita, which was good, and the fish tacos. There was no "fishy" taste or smell, very fresh tasting, served with chipotle sauce, tomato, cabbage. Excellent! I tasted my husband's beans and rice, which was very tasty.
