While I was in Denver for 6 months - Katsu Ramen was my go-to when I craved Ramen. It was conveniently located on one of my routes to and from work, so it was easy to get to after work. When I first came here it was a pretty tiny place, but after several months they expanded which was nice because the wait wasn't as bad as before. The parking lot reminded me of Convoy street in San Diego so that was nice.. haha.. packed, cramped parking.. reminded me of home. Weird? You'll only understand if you are familiar with Convoy street. Anywho, I always ordered their Tonkatsu Ramen and request if they can spice it up (which they do). It's very good and the portion is a nice amount. It's not the best Ramen I've ever had (being from SoCal and been to Japan), but it's way better than most in Denver. Service is pretty quick since their expansion. They did charged me twice on my card, but they easily corrected it and it wasn't a hassle. Ever since I moved to Colorado this had been my go-to Ramen spot so this review is definitely a little late but well deserved. For starters they have incredible COVID protocols with checking your temperature & table distancing. They happen to have these little pads (or I'm not sure what you'd call them) in where you can push a button to call a server depending on your table needs, "order/check" "refill" etc. I thought that was pretty neat! Now to talk about the best part, the food!!! Like I said this has been my go to ramen place & since the menu isn't crazy big I have tried all their different types of Ramen & they are all great. It's also fairly small inside without a ton of seating. But there's a boba shop next door to pass the time. Fried gyoza appetizer was great, would recommend. We ordered 4 different onigiri -- I had the spicy tuna, but they messed up and gave me I think the salmon with garlic butter. Still good so no complaints! So glad I found this place because it has been one of my go-to ramen places in the aurora area! We have gone many times before COVID but even going during the pandemic, they keep up with taking care of their customers and taking high safety precautions. The food is always amazing, I personally have had their Tonkatsu ramen, fried rice, miso soup, and the Shoyu ramen. Everything I've tried has been delicious and my friends that I go with always agree. The broth of the ramen brings back all the comfort food feels and you get a decent portion of ramen. I am so excited that they have added poke bowls to their menu. I ordered the spicy salmon poke bowl and it was delicious! Just note that this is not Hawaiian style poke like most local joints. Service is a little slow here so don't go here on a rush unless you are getting take out. This parking lot for this location gets very busy since there are some great tenants in the same plaza. I really loved the ambiance and vibe of this restaurant. The walls are wooden and the place is very cozy overall. Food was ok but not my favorite Ramen, not many options for vegetarian. Overall maybe a bit overwhelming, but I haven't seen a temperature scanner in another business so that was impressive. I don't believe there are many Japanese places in Aurora so whenever you have a ramen or onigiri craving, come here! The black garlic tonkotsu was DIVINE. If you're the kind of person who doubles the amount of garlic in any recipe, this is the ramen for you. It's the traditional creamy tonkotsu flavor with that extra layer of black garlic on top. The pieces of chashu (pork belly) melt in your mouth and you get three healthy sized pieces with this bowl! The noodle texture is the PERFECT al dente and it holds the broth in the noodle so well. We also got the fried chicken and gyoza as appetizers which is the MOVE. Don't sleep on the karaage because you get huge pieces of fried chicken with a unique crispiness. The onigiri rice balls are also the perfect complement to a bowl of ramen. If you're super hungry and you don't come in time for their lunch combo (which is a super good deal), just get a bowl of ramen and one onigiri and it'll fill you right up! They don't skimp out on the filling either. The complex of the restaurant can get really busy during peak dinner hours so parking can be tough to find but there's also the side street to park at. We showed up at 4:37pm, 7 minutes after they opened for the night and the restaurant was already 80% full. This was a good sign and I was hopeful. We ordered the fried chicken based on the rave reviews, and they did not disappoint. Perfectly crisp, marinated with just the right amount of pepper (although there was also some on the side), and came with a nice spicy dynamite aioli. It felt like the order came out 2 minutes after we ordered it too. We also had the shoyu ramen and added extra chasu for $1 (turned out it probably wasn't even necessary) and Katsu curry. It's all about the katsu AND the ramen! My two favorite things to order from Katsu Ramen are the Katsu Curry rice bowl and the Curry ramen. I first had ramen from Katsu Ramen over a year and a half ago. Now, I have ordered delivery five times in the past two months. For takeout, the ramen noodles and ingredients are all separated from the broth, so you don't have to worry about anything getting soggy. You get so much broth, I literally save the broth every time to enjoy with some more noodles later! The curry broth is just so delicious, with the perfect spicy kick. The katsu curry bowl is absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this bowl. I have tried the teriyaki bowl as well, but I thought it was very average in comparison to the katsu curry. I have heard good things about the katsu don, but have not yet tried it myself. The black garlic tonkotsu ramen is another winner, but I'm just obsessed with curry flavors. Katsu Ramen also offfers many different types of onigiri, which is awesome! My favorite onigiri was the spicy mentai caviar. Because of covid, when you walk into the restaurant there is a temperature stand that you must take a temperature before being seated. The place is very cute and clean. The menus are placed under a glass table protector so you can look at the menus without touching which I thought it was smart. Covid measures here are very good when it comes to limiting contact. My friend and I started off with some edamames and we also placed orders for lunch. We each had the ramen and rice combination which consisted of a rice side and 3 pc gyoza with choice of ramen.
