Mapo Tofu with Pork and Shiitaki mushrooms. Very spicy.
    Frann B.

Wow, I've visited Japan and tried their Mapo Tofu and coming home to Miyako brought me back to Japan! It's was spicy, herbaceous, and the flavors were amazing. The shiitake mushrooms added texture and complimented the pork. The tofu was soft and delicious. The owner definitely is passionate about his dishes and it shows. The restaurant is very clean and well organized. Very comfortable and nice ambiance too. I will definitely be back, they are behind Blazing Bird on Broadway. Great for family and friends. The menu for lunch offers many options for vegans to meatlovers. I need to try the Ramen and many other items. Please check them out! I can't wait to come back!

It isn't often that I leave a negative review of a ramen restaurant but here we go. The positives. There was plentiful parking and the service was quick. We got our appetizers and entrees pretty quick. The miso soup and karage was good. Also the sitting area was comfortable and inviting. Negatives. So expensive and it felt like I was dealing with a video game, because of all of the micro purchases. $17 for just the ramen broth and meat choice, everything else costs extra. Want bok choy, corn, bamboo shoots, spinach, or nori? All of it costs extra $$ each item... My ramen came out to be $27. The sliced roast was tough and inedible. The boiled egg was cold and tasteless. My wife has the yakisoba. It looked like it has flavor but she said she will re-cook it when she gets home. Bland. I did ask for beer or a drink menu. I looked at the board posted and they had a grand selection of 3 types of beer. Needless to say, I won't be coming back. Too expensive for the low quality. I recommend skipping it.

I can't quite remember my dining experience at Miyako Ramen, which means I might have to come back. All I know is I went with my friend, and we both got a lunch special. They were VERY understaffed here, so it took awhile to place our order and get our food. I got the Spicy Miso Pork Ramen and Spicy Tuna Roll. Not very aesthetically pleasing and not bad for $19 but it's so highly rated on Yelp, I need to try again next time I visit this part of Denver. Remember to park in the SECOND lot as you drive by.

I feel bad that my favorite dish isn't properly Japanese. The Mabo Tofu is actually Chinese comfort-food and it's easy to spot being the only thing on the menu with three peppers. It is almost like a gravy or an étouffée but it is so flavorful, with an earthy vibe and the almost-too-hot level of heat that I love. Your tongue is surfing that fine line between wanting to stop but knowing that whatever you do you cannot stop because then it will hurt more. A lovely, visceral and tasty experience.

Tucked away in a unassuming strip mall, this delicious ramen spot does not disappoint! We visited for mid week lunch and service was friendly and fast. I enjoyed that you are able to order a custom ramen bowl - you pick your protein, broth, flavor, spice level, noodle type, and any add ons (don't miss the soy soft boiled egg!). The portion was huge, and the protein portion particularly was high quality meat and hearty. I left with leftovers for a second lunch! My husband got the lunch special (small ramen and 1/2 sushi roll). Thanks for the delicious meal!

My mom and I went here today after an event. The food was excellent, and I loved that you can customize your ramen. The service and atmosphere was amazing. We felt like we were in Japan again :-) I recommend it! Will be coming back soon

Best ramen in denver! The service is always on point and it's so cozy inside. perfect spot for date night

Very cozy smaller restaurant. I got the vegetarian ramen with spicy miso base and it was one of the best I've had! Rich, flavorful broth and all the veggies tasted super fresh. Service was excellent. Me and my boyfriend shared the strawberry and red bean matcha mochi for desert it was delightful.

It's my favorite ramen spot whenever I visit Denver. It's very authentic and they have a good amount of choices. Everything I ever eaten is good and the quality is consistent every time we visit. There's also parking so you won't have to find parking.

I feel so bad for this place... :( The way it's located in the nook of a strip mall made it easy to miss the turn to get in, then good luck trying to find your way back there. It was Saturday high noon and there was no other customer (during the course of our lunch, 2 came in but that was it). I wanted ramen so bad it took over the gut feeling to just leave. I also blame my husband for not letting me order the Shoyu based soup. We both ended up getting Salt broth, mine was the Neggi, don't remember what his was. Oh My God, where is the salt? Both bowls had no flavor and my meat tasted like day-old Char Siu. Eggs were just soft boiled, should've braised them to add some color and flavor. At the end, when I burped all I tasted was seaweed, that's pretty bad. I only finished half of my food and had to stay hungry for the rest of the afternoon :( Sorry, Miyako, it is a no for me.

    Really good water!

As I was pondering to see if I should go to more of a sit-down restaurant, Asuka's quick poke bowl sounded like a much better choice so I rushed the one on Broadway between the gym and yoga. I stepped in to be greeted by the lady in charge of the kitchen and the register. She was still finishing up the guest ahead of me but once she was done she came to take my order. I went with the Build-Your-Own bowl. The lady was efficient in asking me which ingredients I would want for my nutrient-rich bowl. She was wasting no time and effort and yet she wasn't rushing to get rid of me either (LOL!!) She sounded like she is/was used to handling a long line of people but never forgets/forgot the routine of good service. Once my bowl was perfectly crafted, she had a quick and yet genuine thank you to say. She then moved on to the next person in line. By then there were several people in line. Once I had paid I took the time to look at the interior decorations. And they are quite cute! The umbrella decors on the ceiling are one of them to mention. The dining area is not big and yet it can hold a good number of guests. Quite tidy and clean indeed. Between the location down the street from my house on Yosemite and this one, this location is quite more lively. The Yosemite location seemed a bit smaller than this one. Let's talk the quality of the bowl! Very fresh! From the crunchy cucumber pieces that snapped as I ate it to protein (salmon and tofu) to al the fixings that topped the bowl, everything tasted surprisingly and refreshingly delicious. I wouldn't necessarily say that it tasted exactly like the authentic poke bowls I experienced in Hawaii only a few months ago, Asuka is a solid (chain) place I can go and grab a bowl with no compromise. I have come to appreciate this place very much.

In general, it's been a laid back, go-to place to get a meal that will be much better than average for the price. I've been many times since before and after COVID, and it was one of my favorite repeatable spots in Denver. However, the crew totally dropped the ball with our visit today. My wife ordered a tonkatsu ramen and got a chicken tonkatsu set instead (chicken cutlet, not bowl of ramen). To not make it weird, we just let that one be for the greater good of the table because it was our anniversary, grandparents were visiting, and we are here often. Our hamachi kama (one of my favorite dishes in the entire city, normally something I'd highly recommend on this review) was never sent to the kitchen, leaving us waiting for over an hour with two young kids at the table who had finished 40 minutes before. I watched the staff's confusion from my seat, even after we had been told that it was on its way. It was never even started, and it was obvious. That stuff happens, but it's hard to hide what happened in an open kitchen where you can hear what people are saying. But then after they had the "oh crap" moment, it wasn't even expedited. It was gonna take so long that it wasn't worth getting, so two people had to leave our not-busy lunch without getting the main thing we brought them to Ototo for. We were asked to wait for the dish, waited 15 more minutes, and it was not even close to ready. And while I appreciated the apology, the manager initially just tried to "take the dish off the bill," a dish we never received. So he basically tried to do nothing because no restaurant would charge for something that never came out. After I pointed this out, they took off part of the check, but that attempt at nothing under the guise of a comp was crazy. I've easily spent thousands at Ototo over the years. I've sent tons of people to Kizaki, Temaki Den, and the others. This will probably be the last time I go to Ototo. If you read some of the recent bad reviews, something is not working here anymore. I hope the otherwise amazing service at the other Dens can find its way back to Ototo.

It is priced at market value, so I imagine this could vary over time, but they had three tiers for omakase, which I thought were all fairly priced for the amount of food included. We opted for the highest tier, which was $120 pp, and it was incredibly filling with high quality cuts of fish and a thoughtfully curated menu. The sushi chef who took care of us was incredibly kind, and it was clear he put a lot of care into the food he prepared. There was also zero indication whether you seat yourself or wait to be seated, so customers are left awkwardly standing around wondering what's going on. From the moment we sat down, it was clear that the service here operates at a different level. Our server was exceptionally well versed in the menu and sake pairings, explaining ingredients, preparation, and flavor profiles with confidence and genuine enthusiasm. You can tell the waitstaff is deeply trained to understand the food, beverages, and how everything works together. Their sake recommendations were spot‑on and elevated the meal even further. Every dish we ordered was executed beautifully. The miso eggplant was silky and deeply flavorful, perfectly balanced between savory and sweet. The miso black cod was rich, flaky, and melt‑in‑your‑mouth tender, while the mixed seafood tempura was light, crisp, and impeccably fried without a hint of greasiness. Each appetizer showcased refined technique and restraint. The Colorado steak with truffled potatoes was another standout. The steak was cooked perfectly and paired beautifully with the earthy richness of the truffled potatoes, easily holding its own among the sushi offerings. The moment that truly made the night unforgettable was the Osaka‑style pressed sushi served aburi‑style. It quite literally changed my son's life and opened his love for sushi. We ended up ordering several more of these incredible bites of salmon, topped with mayo and lightly flame‑kissed, resting on perfectly seasoned sushi rice. The fish here is so clean, well cured, and expertly prepared that I strongly recommend ordering a side of fresh wasabi--it brightens and elevates the flavors even further. The lobster sushi and scallop sushi were also exceptionally fresh and delicious, reinforcing the level of care taken with their seafood. Dessert was the perfect finale. The green tea tiramisu was light, creamy, and indulgent without feeling heavy. To cap it off, our waiter brought us yuzu and lychee sorbets, which offered a refreshing, citrusy finish and showed thoughtful hospitality. As we were leaving, something small but meaningful stood out. All of the sushi chefs looked up, raised their heads together, and warmly thanked us with sincere goodbyes. It was a gracious, heartfelt gesture that perfectly reflected the hospitality we felt throughout the evening. We cannot wait to return.
