We had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with Kauai Sea Tours on the Lucky Lady sunset tour on April 25. The primary reason we booked this tour was to see the Na Pali Coast -- the main highlight that is clearly advertised. However, the captain turned the boat around early, and we never even reached the meaningful part of the coastline. At best, the boat only went just far enough to technically claim that the Na Pali Coast was "touched," which felt like a deliberate attempt to avoid any customer complaints or refund claims rather than actually delivering the experience people paid for. The explanation given was that some passengers were feeling sick, but this felt like a weak justification, especially considering that other boats from the same company operating sunset tours that same day did make it all the way to the Na Pali Coast. Also some people were see sick within first 30 mins of the tour but we kept pushing and only turned around after they can technically say this is what you signed in waiver so you are on your own. To make matters worse, there was virtually no communication throughout the trip. The PA system on the boat was not working, so there were no announcements, no commentary, and no guidance about what we were seeing or what was happening. For a guided tour, this made the experience feel even more unprofessional and poorly managed. Hoping for a reasonable resolution, we contacted the Kauai Sea Tours office the next day. What followed made the experience even worse. The staff was rude, dismissive, and outright argumentative. They insisted that our tour did go to the Na Pali Coast -- which is simply not true in any meaningful sense. When we pointed out that we had directly confirmed with crew members from their own Kailani boat (also operating that day) that they went all the way to the coast, the office first denied it, then changed their explanation, claiming that those tours were not theirs, and finally said it was because the other boat had "more power." The inconsistency and lack of honesty were shocking. We weren't even demanding a full refund at that point -- we offered a reasonable compromise by asking for a discounted rate to rebook the experience we originally paid for. This was flatly refused. Instead, we were told we would have to pay full price again. The conversation ended with the staff raising their voices and bluntly stating there would be no refund. This was not just a disappointing tour -- it was a complete failure in customer service, accountability, and basic professionalism. When a company fails to deliver its core promise and then treats customers this way, it's unacceptable. Do yourself a favor: avoid booking with Kauai Sea Tours. read more

A local recommended this company over the Holo Holo Charters. It was a difficult decision at first since that company has gotten so many positive reviews. But at the end of the evening, I was very happy to have chosen Kauai Sea Tours. It cost us a little under $150 per person for the sunset dinner cruise, and it was worth every penny. In fact, I would have paid more now knowing everything that was included. The tour was about 5 1/2 hours long and there was never a dull moment. Our staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely accommodating. They served snacks and drinks throughout the trip, and repeatedly asked us if we were doing ok and if we needed anything. They always made themselves available to take photos of the couples on the boat. At the beginning of the trip, the captain mentioned that not only was the weather going to be unpredictable, but that seeing wildlife is not guaranteed. Well, we lucked out in all categories. The weather was perfect and we saw multiple rainbows that were breathtaking. We saw a few sea turtles, some monk seals which are very rare, and a group of about 15 dolphins that were swimming along with the boat for about 10-15 minutes! It was a real treat to see how playful they were and to be so close to them to hear them breathing and making noises. We stopped at a calm spot in the water where we were able to snorkel for an hour which was more than enough time. The cruise included all the snorkeling gear and the crew spent time teaching the people that had never been before. After snorkeling, there was an unlimited open Mai Tai bar for everyone that wanted to drink. When we were booking the cruise, we let them know that we were vegetarians, and when dinner was being served, they remembered and had 2 special veggie wraps ready for us that were actually very delicious! In addition to that, they also had salad, mashed potatoes, and roasted vegetables. After dinner, the staff came around with chocolate chip cookies for everyone. On the return trip back to Port Allen, they played great music that went perfectly with the spectacular scenery and a sunset that will be remembered forever. We actually saw a Holo Holo charter pass us on the way back, and I was noticing that I liked our catamaran better. It seemed as though ours was nicer and even more spacious. My experience with this company was great and it was the perfect way to visit the Na Pali Coast! read more

My wife, son and I booked a tour for the coast. The day was quite windy and I assumed the tour would be canceled but it was not. I don't know much about island weather so I just trusted the captain's opinion to go out as he gave no indication that we may not make it far. We ended up only going to one snorkling area that was a 2 star at best (my hotel had significantly better snorkeling). We docked there before the ride out to the coast, which I thought was odd considering the wind was picking up, it seemed to me we should not dilly-dally due to the increasing weather. In retrospect I think the captain knew we would not make it out and tried to give us at least something on our trip. Also, in retrospect I now see that the captain was constantly preparing us for a failed trip by the way he spoke. I think he knew it wouldn't work but chose to take the money anyways. We ended up making it only a very small way around the coast, seeing only a small fraction of what we paid for. We then turned around and came back in. The trip was basically a complete waste of the almost $500 spent. I feel the company/captain should have let us know the odds of making it and let us decide if it was worth the risk (which it very much was not). For my family and I this was the most expensive outing of our vacation and it fell far below my expectations. We saved up for our vacation so it was very disappointing to loose $500 due to a lack of honesty. After speaking to a competing company, they said that they would have given us the info and choice before going out with the option for a refund. They where very surprised that Kauai Sea Tours attempted the journey that day as they canceled their trips. I regret using this company and recommend searching for another. I understand mistakes happen, all one has to do after a mistake is apologize and make it right, which did not happen. read more

Aloha and Mahalo to Captain Jeff and his crew that took our family out on Friday, August 31, 2012 to the Napali Coast. We could not have asked for a better day - the seas were calm, the wind just right and a great captain and crew!! The scenery was breathtaking - the dolphins (apparently out due to a lovely lady who was born and raised on Kauai and who works for the tourism industry was taking her cousins out for the day and has a special bond with the dolphins - thank you for brining so many out for us to see that day ) sea turles were out and the snorkeling wonderful!! We have been out snorkleing in several places in the carribean and Key West and by far - this was the best!! The Lucky Lady can hold 40 but we had close t o 30 which to me was just right :) Our Captain and crew were informative, knowledgeable and most importantly made us feel like we were friends they were taking out on the boat for the day. They pointed out historic landmarks, ledgendary tales of Kauai and it's people - movie shots (Jurassic Park/Pirate of the Carribean) and by far was the best day we had on the Island!! Thank you and so happy we chose your company verses the other's and trust me - where we were staying we were given a list (which is appropriate) and a few presentation from your competitor but after reading the published All You Need to Know About Kaua'i book which gave you an "ok" rating" plus with the rough sea's and wanting to see the famous Napaki coast be opted for the Lucky Lady verses the fast/raft tour and after talking with Rhonda (Wyndam Makai Club) at our resort - she led us to you - so give her a big Mahlo!! My wife and I booked a sunset cruise with Kauai Sea Tours, but unfortunately, we were denied boarding because my wife is pregnant. When planning our trip to Hawaii, we specifically researched activities that would be safe for pregnant travelers, and this cruise appeared as a viable option. We spent an entire day traveling to the departure location, only to be informed just before boarding that pregnant women were not allowed. While we could have chosen not to disclose this information, we opted to be honest when asked. The boat captain assured us that the front desk had been notified and that they would "take care of us," which led us to believe a refund would be issued. However, when we approached the front desk, we were told that we needed to contact Viator since we booked through them. Upon reaching out to Viator, we were redirected back to Kauai Sea Tours, with each company deflecting responsibility onto the other. This lack of accountability and poor communication reflects extremely unprofessional business practices. Had the company handled the situation with integrity, I would have gladly recommended them to friends and family who frequently visit Hawaii. Instead, I am left with no choice but to share my disappointing experience and advise others to be cautious when booking with this company. read more

My husband and I took the zodiac raft tour of the Na Pali coast. It was amazing! Captain Toby & First Mate Jake were super nice guys, and really knowledgeable. Our boat ride out was definitely intense due to some pretty strong winds & high waves, but Toby did a great job with the boat (we actually had a blast riding the big swells!) We saw pods of spinner dolphins on the ride out and back; they came right up to the raft! That alone made us glad we chose the zodiac over the catamaran tour. We chose the tour that included a landing at Nu'alolo Kai, where Jake gave us a tour of the ancient Hawaiian village being restored by the Na Pali Coast Ohana. VERY VERY COOL!! If you can handle the zodiac raft, definitely take the village tour. So amazing to see the ancient structures and learn about the earliest Hawaiians' way of life in the actual place they lived. We took the earliest AM tour, which meant we also had the opportunity to see a sea turtle who had beached himself for a rest. The snorkling & swimming was great as well - saw a couple of fish I hadn't seen around the reefs in Poipu. Very much worth the price. One of our favorite things we did in Kauai! read more

We took the "raft" (zodiak) tour from Port Alan up the Na Pali coast. Our crew Chellen and Jamie were excellent. They made the trip a lot of fun and provided a lot of information along the way. There was high surf along the north shore most of the time we were in Kauai but on Saturday, the surf was calm and we went for the adventure. We saw whales, bottle nose and spinner dolphins, and a couple of turtles. Chellen expertly maneuvered us into a couple of the sea caves along the way before heading on up to our snorkeling spot. So far, this was the best snorkeling of our trip. We were very impressed with our crew and would highly recommend this trip and Kauai Sea Tours to anyone wanting to see the Na Pali coast by boat. One of the benefits of being on the "raft" was how close to the water we were. When we came up on a pod of spinner dolphins, they instinctively starting swimming along with us ahead of our bow. I was able to use my GoPole to get my GoPro into the water and film them as we went. It wasn't until we got back and watched the footage that we realized just how many of them there were. It was an experience of a life time. read more

The weather was rainy all day on different parts of the island so I called to confirm if the whale watching tour was still on and they said yes unless they notify us otherwise. ALSO THEY NEVER MENTIONED THAT THIS WAS A BAREFOOT BOAT!!!! you're asked to remove your shoes for better traction on the boat, and let me tell ya I hate getting my feet dirty. I would have been perfectly okay wearing my shoes! We got out on the water and the staff started passing our water, drinks, mai tai's, and snacks while we were making it through rather bumpy water -- which didn't make sense. The scene was a mess. A few minutes later it started raining and it was downhill from there. We were rained on for a majority of the tour and had to make it back through a storm to get back to the dock at the end of the tour. Oh and we saw two whale fins (BARELY). Completely not worth it!!!! Most people around me seemed satisfied with the "free" alcohol, but for those who don't drink the ticket is not worth it at all. If they knew it was going to rain, should have canceled the tour! Or had a weather disclaimer on the ticket. read more

This was our fourth Na Pali experience since we have been coming to Kauai in 1997. I have sailed previously with Capt Andy, HoloHolo and a small charter out of Hanalei. Our 5 hour sunset cruise aboard the Lucky Lady with Kauai-native Capt. Kauai (nukunukualialionononwahoo) was the best ever. His "up close and personal" approach was super, even including time for many to take a shower at the bow of the boat under a cascading waterfall off the Pali. His knowledge of Hawaiian culture and his love of this island was clearly evident and he took time to answer any questions that you might have. His crew members were ever present to help however needed, even carrying food and drink to your seat on the boat. They all worked together like a well oiled machine and each was outgoing and more than accommodating. Complimentary drinks including beer, wine and mai tais were available and the buffet dinner was ono ! The sunset was spectacular. Our sunset tour with Kauai Sea Tours aboard the sailboat Lucky Lady on December 12th 2025 was truly unforgettable and deeply emotional for us. From the moment we stepped on the boat, Captain Evan and his incredible crew made everyone feel welcomed, cared for, and safe. We had a very special ceremony during our trip, and the way the crew supported us went far beyond anything we could have expected. Hailey was absolutely amazing -- she did everything possible to help us, guided us with so much kindness, and made sure we were comfortable and safe the entire time. We were incredibly blessed to see so many dolphins and whales during the tour. One unforgettable moment was when a whale breached right in front of Lucky Lady. It felt magical, like a true gift from the ocean. We felt lucky and grateful the entire time. This tour aboard Lucky Lady, along with Captain Evan and his wonderful crew, will forever hold a special place in our hearts. We will always remember this experience and wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone. read more

We vacationed in Kauia in August 8-16 on Friday August 14 2015 we booked a rafting tour. Our captain was Sean and first mate was Churin We had a fantastic adventure we saw two sting rays, turtles and school of Dolphins but it was so special there where baby Dolphins. I tried to take pictures but gave up just so I would not miss the babies practicing doing turns and spins, saw a monk seal. Went into lava tubes saw amazing beaches. Landed at the Ancient Nualolo Kai took a tour and listened to our guide describe how ancient people survived and lived. Went snorkeling after the tour. It was my first time and I loved it. It didn't waste time taking photos I wanted to enjoy all of the magnificent fish, coral reef, the wonderful coast line. Oh and they also provided sandwiches snacks and beverages for us. Wonderful lunch. This was the highlight of our vacation. thank you guys for a wonderful trip we will always remember. The staff was nice and it was fun to be on a catamaran but overall the trip was disappointing. We were told that they didn't expect the wind to pick up until the afternoon so we should be able to make it to the Na Pali Coast but the wind started really early so we had to turn around and not see the coast. It was really rough water and a couple people were throwing up but overall everyone seemed to be enjoying the ride but they decided to turn back. We understand that you can't control the weather but we wish it was more transparent about how likely it was to actually see the coast as we would have not paid the money to just ride a catamaran (we would have even been fine to get our money back right before the tour started if they had told us that morning what our chances were to see the coast). The snorkeling spot was also not very good as they stopped for snorkeling right after we left the harbor saying it would be too windy later to snorkel. The food was so-so. read more

This was one of the best tours we had in Hawaii. Captain Kauai and his crew delivered top notch service, and took the time to explain the various sights and historical significance as we wound our way to the Napali coast. The crew were very attentive - making sure anyone who happened to suffer from sea sickness was taken care of. The pod of dolphins swimming with the boat was a memorable experience, as was Capt Kauai's deft handing of the boat near the waterfall. The snorkeling spot was good, with schools of fish darting around. Anyone can charter a boat to see the Napali coast, but listening to Capt Kauai and his crew about the history of the Hawaiian Islands, the traditions of the Kauai as well as filling us in on the current events going on in the islands made the transit just fly by. We booked the morning tour, but I will need to make sure I book an evening cruise with them the next time my wife and I visit WITHOUT the kids. :D read more

Capt. Kauai, Amanda, Dawn, and Evan took great care of us on a perfect tour of the Napali Coast. It was not safe to snorkel due to ocean swells, and our skipper made the right call by keeping us on the boat. This may have been a disappointment for some, but our safety is the skipper's priority and he made the right call. The trip was a thrill nonetheless, we had close contact with dolphins, saw some whales, and got an up-close look at the cliffs and waterfalls. The crew were especially attentive to the children that were roaming around exploring all the features of the boat, keeping a sharp eye on their safety. Skipper Kauai was concerned about talking too much, but how would that be possible? He was our guide and, being a native Hawaiian, has first hand cultural knowledge of Hawaiian history and mythology, and that is a big part of the experience we paid for. We have sailed with KST before and will do so again. Mahalo! read more

A trip to Kauai wouldn't be complete without taking a trip to the Nā Pali Coast, and this voyage was a great adventure. If you're like me wondering if it's worth all the $ you've been shelling out for activities, I'd say this is the time to just commit! Captain was absolutely wonderful, funny, and crew was constantly checking on us to make sure we were having fun (and buzzed!). Keep in mind this is in the open ocean (duh), so sea sickness is real. Get some dramamine at one of the local markets and pop a few ahead of time. It's hard to reverse once you're on the water. If you don't know your limits on the water, try something shorter than this trip first (or a private tour), cause it's a long ride. Saw someone posted a bad review cause they got sea sick, but seriously don't blame the crew for partaking in an activity you can't handle. It helps to stay above deck in the back and keep your eyes on the mountains. DO IT! read more

My wife and I took a raft with landing trip a couple of weeks ago and it was an experience of a life time. Captain Jake was an awesome boat driver and had quite the dry sense of humor, loved it. The guided land tour with our crewman Nohili (I probably butchered the spelling, forgive me Nono) was very informative and he had a bit of dry humor as well. I even got to taste a native fruit, Noni.....yum. :-). Snorkeling was fun, I grew up snorkeling and diving in Florida and the Bahamas as a kid but my wife really enjoyed it. The sandwiches were pretty good and I've seen a few complaints on here about them, but what do you expect on a ridged hulled craft craft packed with people. We were able to enter a couple of sea caves which is not a guarantee, all depends on the sea conditions....we were fortunate. I would recommend this tour to anyone looking for an almost all day sea tour. You guys are great. read more

My new bride and I decided to be a little bit more adventurous on our honeymoon and we opted for the raft trip of the Na Pali coast instead of the catamaran and we most defintely were not disappointed. Kealoha (probably not spelled correctly but he said it was pronounced "K" "Aloha"), our captain Moa (probably not spelled correctly either but he made up for it by wearing a pink cammo hat!), and the boat operator trainee....forget his name, made it an "exciting" trip. It was great seeing the spinner dolphins, but most of all, being so close to the actual coast line to see it up close was well worth it. Due to mother nature, we couldn't snorkel or do a beach landing the day we went, but no regrets there. We would definitely do this trip again and without a doubt reccommend Kauai Sea Tours to those reading the reviews!!! Just be prepared to get wet on the raft!!! read more

We were blessed to go on the raft tour of the NaPali coast, and we were even more blessed to choose Kauai Sea Tours and end up with our guides/captian, Matt and Drake. They were hilarious, skilled, and compassionate. My husband became surprisingly sea sick during the tour, and Matt helped fix him genuinely caring that he felt better making sure he still has a blast. Drake did donuts in a sea cave and was a master driver keeping us from danger. We went snorkeling and saw sea turtles, octopuses, parrot fish, and a host of other marine wildlife on a coral reef. Aloha I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to Kauai Sea Tours for an amazing excursion. On the 17th of April we left Port Allen for the 5 1/2 hour zodiac tour. We had an amazing time and our two hosts were professional, entertaining, and knowledgeable about the coast line, marine life, and the heritage of the Island. Skye was an impressive sea captain and he did everything to make the ride exciting and comfortable. We were particularly impressed with how he handled the raft in some challenging swells. He made the ride as smooth as possible! We will certainly refer Kauai Sea Tours to our friends and clients. We saw hundreds of Spinner Dolphins, a Humpback Whale, gorgeous coastline and amazing fish during our snorkel! read more
