Me and my friend and his girlfriend came and worked out there at the beginning of our trip and it was awesome then we came to hit another workout today (the 24th of July) and the lady that was working there let us pay like usual then halfway through our workout she noticed my friend had slides on and said that they weren't allowed but at least he had a good workout. He then had to ask if that meant he was kicked out to which she replied yes but "at least you had a good workout" in the most demeaning tone you could imagine. we had been walking around before that IN FRONT OF HER and she hadn't said a thing and there were other people there that were wearing slides in plane view, but for some reason she targeted my friend and his girlfriend and kicked them out AFTER we had paid. Overall super disappointed because we are both powerlifters and have never had this issue before definitely won't come back. read more

Basic as far as locker room amenities (no steam sauna just lockers restroom showers) but fully equipped with all possible strength conditioning equipment including free weights (bars, fixed straight bars and dumbbells to 100 lbs) as well as a range of aerobic machines. When you find even a prowler sled for legs in a gym and TRX you may assume - rightly - that everything else will be here as well. There is a separate room for lift and jerk lifting, and another for stretching and using equipment like Bosu, exercise and medicine balls, foam rollers and other non-machine exercise aids. This is the best equipped gym in Kauai. There is an "oxygenated" filtrated water machine to keep you hydrated. These days very few wear masks but some still do. Gym users are very good about wiping down equipment between uses with antiseptic spray soaked paper towels. Day and two week passes along with monthly and annual plans available, which work for both locals and visitors. read more

I have gained a newfound confidence in the gym thanks to my training session with Dustin Rasay. Dustin is very patient with all of my many questions during the various workouts and continuously provides me assistance whenever needed. My workout plan actually makes me look forward to going to the gym-- consistency has always been my biggest obstacle. Most importantly, Dustin makes me feel extremely comfortable when working with him. Folks working out are there for a purpose so I got through a fairly big effort without getting stopped or disturbed by others. Fairly priced day passes. Me and my boyfriend are on vacation in Kauai for a week. Still wanting to reach our fitness goals on vacation and not staying at a hotel with an accessible gym, sent us researching the best gyms on the island. With the expectation we'd most likely need to bite the bullet to pay daily for a gym pass, we came across KAC and found that they offer weekly passes as well. Perfect. I was glad to find this gym in Lihue having to go back and forth from the mainland every couple of months since January when we bought our future retirement home in Kauai. I gave it 3 stars because the gym is clean, has a big space (downstairs and upstairs) and plenty of equipments. My husband and I have been very optimistic that the people in Kauai are welcoming but I found that the employees who run this place are not so welcoming. My experience has not been good mainly with a specific male employee who wears a ponytail. Not sure what his name is but it's quite disappointing that he doesn't give a sense of warmth to newcomers. He is warm to the locals or residents but not to newcomers. Maybe he saw me as an "outsider". Sad and disappointing! I dont know if I'll go back to this gym when I return to the island in a month or so. If management is open for suggestions, I suggest training their staff how to provide better customer service. It'll encourage people like me who frequents the Island to want to keep coming back. read more

Was on Kauai for Thanksgiving, and these guys came THROUGH! The crowd was mostly local, but they were super accommodating to a non-resident like myself. Selling a week pass was perfect, and seamless from an operational perspective (staffed all hours you'd ever want to workout). The equipment was great, could keep up with my full training regimen while away on holiday (squats, lat work, hack squats, bench, even a sick hip thrust machine). Trained at all sorts of weird hours, and it was never too crowded (plenty of weights/dbs for everyone), good hygiene, and solid water filtration. Even the smoothie bar was DELICIOUS for that post-workout recovery (recommend anything with Chai and coconut). Staff was super helpful and attentive, and Mikey helped us feel at home, while on vacation. Could not recommend more highly! read more

I am here visiting family and was looking for a gym close to home that I'm able to powerlift at. KAC is hands down one of the best gyms I've ever been to. The staff and the manager Mike are so kind and helpful. I was able to get a two week pass and go in without any worries. I am always greeted when I walk in the door by the staff and can workout worry free. The gym is huge with so many machines and free weights. They even have a room in the back that has deadlift platforms. Love it! Masks are required and there are spray bottles and towels given to wipe down the equipment after you use it. All in all, the hospitality is top notch, the equipment is great, and the atmosphere is nothing but good vibes. read more

had a personal trainer for the month we were on island. Waylon Silva was the best. my wife Charlotte and myself were worked hard on alot of different machines and floor exercise, also kettle bells and dumbbells. we always felt safe with Waylon, worked hard but never worried about injuring ourselves. he is a very caring individual, it comes thru in every respect. facility clean and very covid conscious, front desk staff extremely pleasant as well. i would give this team a 10 star rating if you had it!!! read more

I always try to stay with my workout routine when traveling or on vacation. This place is a gem of a gym for a serious workout; lots of weights, hammer strength, old school iron, cross-fit and cardio. KAC is as good or better than LA Fitness and Crunch Fitness which are my local gyms in So Cal. Mickey the club manager was super accommodating. Met some of the locals who were also very friendly. I will be sure to workout here again when I visit Kuai again in July. read more

Kauai Athletic Club has been the number one gym on Kauai since 1981. Although I miss their original location (complete with lap pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms), their Lihue location is conveniently located in Nawiliwili, central to many businesses in Lihue. This is convenient for me since I spend the majority of my time in this area. Kauai Athletic Club consistently satisfies. Their friendly staff is always welcoming. You can always count on a warm welcome when you walk through the door -- which is nice after a long, stressful day. KAC offers a variety of classes for everyone's individual needs. There are staff that are more than happy to assist you with how to use equipment, when you have no idea what to do with, too. KAC's hours of operation could be a little better, with extended hours on the weekend -- however, I can appreciate that they want their employees to enjoy the weekend, too! The rest of the facility is pretty standard -- cardio equipment, weight machines, free weights; upstairs has a few other machines and an area to stretch. The locker rooms are equipped with, duh, lockers!! Bring your own lock, but be sure to remove it before you leave, or it will be removed for you. The showers stalls are cleanly, with body wash for a real quick rinse after your workout. If you're wanting more, bring your shower stuff with you. For the ladies, they have a large vanity and an industrial fan to utilize so you don't get all sticky and sweaty from your post-workout shower-sesh. There are also hair dryers available for use. My husband and I were looking for a gym while on vacation, and since the options in Kauai seemed limited, we took a shot at KAC not knowing what to expect when we arrived. Paid $20 per person for a day pass. BEST. MONEY. EVER. SPENT on a single day pass. This gym has everything. Machines, free weights, cardio, an extra room with mats for stretching, juice bar, and (the best part) a completely separate warehouse that's open to the outside and fully equipped with everything functional. Monkey bars, sleds, skiers, punching bags, deadlift platforms, even a climbing rope. My husband and I do both weightlifting and CrossFit and this gym felt like stepping into our own personal playground. We went back again and paid for a second day during our trip because we loved it so much. Also, completely unrelated to the awesomeness of the gym but still relevant IMO, KAC is a 5 minute drive away from the Ho'opi'i Falls Trailhead, which is a really awesome hike! read more

If you live on the island, you already know about this gym. This review is for anyone that is visiting or thinking of moving to Kauai. While visiting family on the island, the wife and I got two week passes and feel like it was worth every penny. I think it works out to something like 5 or 7 dollars a day, but don't quote me on it. Either way, if you're reading this review, there are pretty good odds you are dead serious about continuing your gainz; therefore, cost isn't going to be too much of a factor. What matters is what you get. - LOTS of free weights - Plenty of benches - Cardio stuff (but you're in Kauai, go hiking or use the bike/run/walk path in Kapaa) - A large jungle gym setup in the center that has rope climbing, pullups anywhere, a pair of gymnastics rings, etc.. - Boxing bags in a separate room with more machines and powerlifting - Five or six pulley stations Equipment is not an issue, so check that box. Motivation shouldn't be either, because there are some seriously fit people working out there and with awesome attitudes. While lifting there I saw some attendees that looked amazing and later after following KAC on instagram, I found out why, some of the regulars are professional level fitness competitors, so awesome!!! I didn't attend any classes, but my wife did, and from what I recall she had a great time. No personal training either, but I saw a few folks being trained and from what I could see, the trained seemed to enjoy it and the trainers looked engaged and motivational. Front desk staff are super cool too, they have a smoothie bar to help you with either pre or post workout shake needs. They can also advise you on awesome local eats and things to do in Kauai. The only problem is you will spend more time in the gym than expected/budgeted, the place rocks! So plan accordingly. I will CERTAINLY be going back when I revisit the family and if luck/fate ever allows, I will move there and join on a permanent basis. Cheers, Ivan read more

This is my first time here (and probably last as I'm from Oahu and just visiting family) but I must say I'm pretty impressed with this gym. It's very clean, has a ton of equipment that isn't all buss up and everyone puts the equipment back where they found it!!! Most people at 24 don't do that. It looks a bit small but there is an upstairs section and two extra rooms, one upstairs and one downstairs. I didn't go inside the upstairs room but the downstairs has trx cables and other various equipment. There is a locker room with bathrooms and showers and also a "smoothie lab". It's kinda like the one at the bj penn gym. Pretty cool! If I was living on Kauai id get a membership here. read more

By far the best gym in Hawaii! This location is newer than the Kapaa one. Clean and new machines. Those into oly lifting... you are in luck! Lots of bars even lady oly bar. Bumper plates are in lbs but you can convert! Highly recommend for a good sweat session! Hizzah! read more

For a small gym it's pretty clean and the staff is friendly. Like normal gyms it has it's busy hours, so go before pau Hana or before 7am. Prices for the gym isn't bad. For a monthly it's normal pricing, bad part is it's not like 24 hour fitness where it's in ever state. I paid 46.82 for a week pass but I think it's worth it because Kauai is more fun with family or friends and I'm here on a business trip. Overall, not a bad gym for Kauai. read more

Not only is this a good gym for Hawaii, it is a good gym for any city any state. If you want free weights, dumbbells up to 135 pounds. If you want machines, at least 1 to 2 for every body part. If you are into functional training, check out the multipurpose racks that they have in their pictures. If you want TRX, they've got it least six double set ups. Stretching area, chilled water, air conditioning, cardio machines, classes... Everything. I give this 10 stars if I could read more

Visited Kauai from Southern California last week and found this gem of all gyms! Smelt like sweat, heart and soul. Made it everyday while on vacation! I wish we had a gym like this back home. Talk about a diamond in the rough. As an avid crossfitter and Olympic weightlifter, they have a really awesome space kind of hidden in the back with platforms. The owner was very inviting and accommodating, pretty much let us do whatever we wanted. If you like the classic style gym, the space is very clean and you have more equipment than you will need. The new Kauai Athletic Club has been a life changer for me. I never felt comfortable at the original location before the new owners came in and moved it to the new location and did a major equipment upgrade. The open layout is great. I am there 3-4 times a week before or after work. There is a HUGE selection of classes for people who need that structure. I really needed a kick start and began with 6 weeks of regular classes and then later hired that trainer again (Robert) for some individual personal training to get myself the best workout designed. I generally use the Lihue location because it is more convenient for me but both are great. read more
