my husband and i did kauai sea tour's raft adventure with the landing at nualolo kai. it was a bright and early morning, but tj & jason were nice. the ride was a bit uncomfortable. the raft makes a jarring motion, so if you have a bad back (or any other kind of injury) that could get re-injured, i wouldn't recommend this. your seat is the side of the raft, and you hold onto a rope that runs along the side. your foot goes under another rope that's anchored to the bottom. they offer gardening gloves to protect your hands from getting rope burn. i highly recommend those!! it'll save you a lot of pain later. we landed at nualolo kai and jason took us on an archeological walk around the ancient hawaiian fishing village. there were even heiau still intact! it was pretty amazing and very spiritual. it was pretty neat to see the village. the only downfall was the noni fruit that was on the ground!! soooo stinky. the snorkeling was alright. the water was kind of cloudy is spots, but, i got to see a lot of different reef fish, etc. overall a great trip!! if you're able to handle the roughness of the rafts, i recommend this. these rafts are able to fit into the sea caves along the na pali (the catamarans are too large). the group is pretty small (15 passengers or less). i think the only awkward thing is asking the captain if you can use the bathroom... because they stop the raft and left you go over the side in the water... with everyone watching!! haha. read more

We had a great time on their rafting tour. Our captains name was Chellin (not sure if that is spelled correctly) and his coworkers name was Noheli (again the spelling is probably wrong) went by Nono for short. They were great! The reason we chose this company is because they have a permit to land at the old Hawaiian fishing village. This is also the location that we snorkeled at. They take you on a "hike" to see the remains of the village but did tell us that the goats in the area have knocked over a lot of the rocks and destroyed some things. This area supposedly has tons of archaeologists that come here and stay for a while. Word has it their trying to live there while doing their work instead of going in and out. The "hike" is just a walk. There's a small dirt path and you basically go in a small circle. 5 min after we left the Harbour, there were spinner dolphins which came right up to the boat. I've done 3 Napali tours so far (as in writing this review) and have seen them every time. I was a little disappointed that we didn't spend a little more time with them but it was still awesome to see them up close. It's illegal to swim with them here so you may not get into the water. We were told we might spend more time with them on the way back but we didn't. the raft is not for the faint of heart and if you get motion sickness, stock up on Dramamine and hold on tight. We were able to enter two caves only but it was worth it. Chellin was super great at entering and exiting even with rough waters. I was impressed! He was also super knowledgable about the land and history behind certain areas. I felt safe as he navigated through the waves and could tell he definitely knew what he was doing. Nono added his background and knowledge at the fishing village and gave the snorkeling briefing before the pool was open. I highly suggest going with this company if you want to try to enter the caves. We went to the cathedrals and then turned around which isn't the entire Napali coast but it is the stopping point of many charters especially that leave from port Allen. Lunch was good. They have a catering company that provided roast beef, ham or turkey sandwiches, small bags of chips, drinks and fruit. All you really need to hold you over. The sandwiches were good. Be sure to mention if your a vegetarian. Snorkeling was okay, being a diver, I know the conditions always are changing and everyday is different. They did mention the day before someone saw a white tip reef shark so that's pretty awesome. I'd be giving 5stars if we spent more times with the Dolphins and if the ride back didn't feel so rushed. I'm sure they were ready to get back since they do the same thing everyday but i am super sore today. They will not let you go if your pregnant, or have any major health issues, bad back, hips etc. Overall this company was professional, friendly and knowledgeable. ***tip do not bring anything u don't want to get wet or buy a wet bag. They will provide you a giant one but if your trying to take photos with a nice camera, be very careful. The surf is unpredictable and you will get drenched more than likely. Awesome. We did a sunset cocktail& dinner cruise up the Nepali Coast. The staff was outstanding. They created a fun experience, the scenery was BEAUTIFUL! We saw dolphins and giant sea turtles swimming right next to our boat. The drinks and dinner were included in the cost of the cruise. They served Mai Tais, beer and I think wine too. The Mai Tais weren't very strong at all, but they kept them coming, anytime your cup was empty Kauai was right there to grab it and bring you another! After awhile they added up. My BF moved on to beer and drank like 8 of them They gave that feeling about trying to cut you off the drinks. The dinner was okay, not bad for being on a small boat. It was Teriyaki chicken, salad, rice and some other sides. Definitely worth the time and $. read more

We spent a day with Captain Bronson, Jordan, and Richard on the zodiac Napali Coast tour. We were very impressed with the whole experience-- dolphins, turtles, amazing scenery and personalized attention for everyone on board. Our boat had 5 kids on it-- all under the age of 12. Captain Bronson and his crew made sure all the kids were 100% safe at all times. We would definitely take another tour with Kauai Sea Tours. Bring lots of sunscreen, or wear a long sleeve rash guard if you burn easily. We didn't have a lot of sun that day but we still all got burned. Be prepared for an adventure!! read more

So glad we went on the raft excursion! Jordan & captain Kieland (sp? It sounds like Chillin.. But not spelled that way!) anyway they were amazing and fun! Really had a great time on the trip and we were able to see humpback whales, sea turtles and two different spinner dolphin pods! We were able to get extremely close- within a few feet of the turtles and the Dolphins were surrounding us. We also were able to go into the sea caves which is beautiful beyond words. Pictures don't do it justice. Definitely recommend going on the raft tour with Kauai Sea Tours with Jordan & Captain Kieland! We went on the afternoon snorkel/dinner/sunset cruise. Our crew was Skye, Matt, Alex and Kim. The trip was rough, the snorkeling was so so, the views were amazing and the crew was the most attentive, friendly, enjoyable, accommodating crew we have ever experienced. They moved about the ship chatting and making sure everyone had what they needed. They genuinely enjoyed their jobs and we all had a great time in the process. Highly recommended. read more

We went out last minute so in all fairness i did not research possibly as much as I should have. We had supposed to go offshore fishing but it was cancelled due to high seas. I had believed this to be a snorkeling tour however it turned into a long trip with pounding seas to look at some beautiful scenery. I was shocked to hear this was a calmer day. Little kids not wearing life jackets coming within mere feet of jagged rocks. Ive operated boats my entire life and did not feel safe. I was sprayed in the face and hanging on for dear life with a rough rope and toe strap for literally 3 hrs - they could not pay me to do again. The 10 minute reprieve for a snorkel followed by the 15 minute "lunch" which mind you was at approximately 6pm.. the icing was the local making somewhat rude comments about the USA how it was Hawaii's sugar momma (which is fine and true) but the way he said a few things turned me off..just not a worthwhile tour i would recommend read more

This review is kinda late. We did a catamaran trip with them during the summer of 2006. I wrote a review on tripadvisor but I think I'll post it here: Wow, our experience was much different. We went on the catamaran for a 5 - 6 hour tour in july. The trip was amazing. We saw dolphins who swam with our big boat. We got a good price. I think it was less than 100 per couple since we did the time share thing. Service was excellent. They staff walked around and served you drinks or cookies when it got slow. Snorkeling was amazing. The staff really helped you..I was scared at first. The water was pristine and we spent a ton of time in the water. The boat was clean and had a bathroom but you are required to take off your shoes.....I don't like using public restrooms with my bare feet so I opted to hold it...turns out I got a kidney infection....so eeveryone just pee in the ocean or pee on the boat. food was decent. they had a ton of soft drinks and a ton of fresh pineapples. I remember rice and some type of beef dish. I think they had chicken too. overall I loved the trip. I guess we were lucky compared to the other reviews here. read more

5 stars isn't doing them justice. We spent about two weeks in Maui and Kauai and everyone in our group agrees this was the most fun. The snorkeling was short-lived but we were able to see plenty of sea turtles and then on more than one occasion we had spinner dolphins swimming alongside us and racing the catamaran. It was awesome! The ride itself was a lot of fun too and the Na Pali coast was beautiful. Our captain, Jeff, was so friendly, informative, and funny. He had everyone laughing the whole time. The rest of the crew was awesome too. They really took the time to engage us and talk about our trip and tell us about a lot of the cool places to see and things to do in Kauai that we wouldn't have known about otherwise. My friend and I were in Kauai for the first time, we wanted to do as much as possible! So we did the Raft for NaPoli coast... WOW!!! Not only was it an incredible experience, our two tour guides John and Tyler were phenomenal. We laughed the whole way & they were so knowledgeable and experienced! Kauai Sea Tours completely blew my expectations. My wife was dieing to go on this tour and I was so un-enthusiastic about the idea of spending a day on an all inclusive Cataraman tour because.... well.... my experience has always been "meh" when a company advertises free breakfast, lunch, and drinks with your ticket purchase. I really thought this tour was going to be cookie cutter tourist trap type of cruise but boy was I wrong! Captain Jeff took us out on a Whale Watching excursion and boy was he great. This cruise was one of the highlights of our trip to Hawaii. We snorkeled, did some whale watching, saw a ton of dolphins, and received quite an educational history lesson from Captain Jeff..... oh yea, and we saw the BEAUTIFUL Napali Coast on an absolutely gorgeous day. I recommend Kauai Sea Tours if you are looking for a half day trip to get out on the water and see parts of the Island you can't see by foot. The food was surprisingly decent and they had plenty of beer and Mai Tais. An absolute surprise and great overall experience. read more

We took the Na Pali Coast Catamarran snorkel trip. We were actually scheduled the day before, but missed our check in time because the highway was closed due to an accident. Kauai Sea Tours offered to refund or rebook, no questions asked. The tour was phenomenal. We saw a monk seal, several green sea turtles while snorkeling, two pods of spinner dolphins that put on quite a show and 15-20 humpbacks, which included some that breached the service. Captain Greg and the crew provided excellent service. Matt gave lots of tips about local life on Kauai. Highly recommend this tour. read more

I'm torn about this because the scenery was great! We saw dolphins, flying fish, whales, and a beautiful coastline. The staff were friendly and the captain gave lots of great commentary, and the sunset was beautiful. However, the captain showed a complete lack of respect for the passengers. While anchored in a quiet bay for dinner, he allowed (even celebrated) everyone in the crew jumping off the boat and swimming, but when we started getting our swimsuits on to join them, he derisively said over the PA "this isn't a snorkeling tour" and wouldn't allow any passenger to get in the water. Yet even after that announcement, he announced another crew member was jumping in. It was as if they were saying "we're good enough to get in the water and swim but not you guys. Watch us enjoy the swim though." Very rude. I would strongly recommend doing this kind of boat tour, but not with this company. I will add that, on our particular trip, the seas were too rough to get to the Na Pali coast. We were given the option to reschedule, and that was a very welcome gesture. Totally not their fault - the seas were indeed rough, and I thank them for giving us the opportunity to reschedule. However we did see one other boat pass us and head up to the coast... Could have been a private charter or something else (looked similar to our catamaran) but made me wonder... read more

Kauai Sea Tours just wants your money!! We took the sunset cruise and conditions were horrendous - extremely turbulent, rough waters, pouring rain, strong wind. We didn't even get to the Napali Coast because it was too rough so ended up doing a cruise around the south side. At least half the passengers got sea sick. Everyone was soaking wet, huddling for cover from the wind/rain and trying not to puke. And praying for the cruise to be over. NO ONE enjoyed this cruise. Now I fully understand that the company cannot control the weather. And the captain did warn of rough waves but no mention of rain. However in light of weather conditions, they should have cancelled and rescheduled this tour. It was irresponsible and a demonstration of poor judgement to take passengers out in such turbulent weather conditions. We rely on the Captain to make the difficult calls. While our lives were not in danger and the captain/crew practiced good safety, it was certainly NOT at all enjoyable to be out in these bad weather conditions and the Captain should have recognized this. They should be in the business of ensuring you have a good time, not just take your money. On a positive note, the crew was honestly great. The fact that they were able to run around that turbulent boat, cleaning up everyone's puke so fast was amazing. They deserve an award for a hard job. read more

Had a great time on the boat with Captain Kauai and crew. The whale watch was very good. We saw quite a few whales and spinner dolphins. Also, the captain was very knowledgeable about the history of Kauai and Niihau. We also took a "dinner cruise" up the Napali coast with Captain Kauai. The wind had picked up a bit so the waves were bigger. The captain checked, and everyone wanted to continue on so we could get a great view of the Napali coast. And we did get a great view of the coast. At one point, we got close enough to have one of the waterfalls land on the bow of the boat. The food was adequate. It was a bit hard to eat in the wind with the boat heaving. But we managed. All in all a great trip. read more

The good: the crew is awesome and was fantastic when I got spectacularly sea sick. They brought me a bucket and ice chips and a cold cloth, and kept checking on me every few minutes. They're a very attentive crew! The view is beautiful, and the captain does a fantastic job showing the history of the islands during the tour. My husband and daughter enjoyed the food, and the crew was great about supplying everyone with drinks. The bad: Please note that this part is not at all a bad review, but a warning for those who are prone to motion sickness. This trip is rocky! The first half was fine for me, as we were going fast. The boat slows down a lot and then stops for snorkeling, and that's when the majority of people get sea sick. I wish I had heeded others' warnings and skipped the trip, because I spent the last two hours of the 5 hour trip laying down. So overall, if you can handle the sea, do this trip! read more

We took their 60 foot cat trip around the Na Pali coast. It was a great day. The boat is not too crowded and the four crew members were all friendly and helpful. Going in December is dicey but we caught a pretty calm day and made it all the way up the coast. We did snorkel right away not too far from where they are docked. The snorkeling was just average, but we did see turtles and some folks (not us) saw dolphins swim right through. The tour managed to get us close to bottle nose dolphins, spinner dolphins and humpback whales. It was quite the day. Four stars because the food was just okay (the gluten free option is really just a salad. It's just not that hard to get gluten free bread and include it) and the Cat is good but still bumpy and plan to get wet. Also, the folks on the phone and at the desk are not typical Hawaii-friendly. If going in the winter, the Cat is the way to go. If going in the summer, i would still go With Na Pali Adventures on their Zodiacs. read more

My husband, 6 y/o daughter, 15 y/o niece, and myself signed up for their sunset dinner cruise. I assumed that it would be a leisurely stroll on the ocean eating dinner waiting for the sun to set. It was pretty calm going up the coast and then we suddenly turned code yellow (rough water, stay in your seat), it then turned code red (really rough ride, hold on tight, plan to get wet!). Once we went up the coast and turned around, it was smooth sailing again for a little while.....then it got rough again. My husband and I happen to enjoy the water, so it was okay for us. I just wish we knew about that roughness ahead of time for the sake of the kids. We all enjoyed it and would do it again. Great picture opportunities and the captain and crew were awesome! Food was basic, but yummy. When you check in they recommend sunscreen, light jacket (I recommend a windbreaker...its great for the wind and wetness you will experience), and camera. They will also tell you to take motion sickness meds ASAP if needed. It gets rough, so if you aren't sure take something just in case. Do not wear dressy clothes or dresses! Shorts and a t-shirt are all you need. Wear slip on shoes or flip flops. Everyone must remove their shoes to get on the boat. There will be a cart as you board the boat to put them. read more

The staff was totally helpful and it really showed that they cared about their guests. Whether it was making sure that people who were going green in the gills got "aloha" buckets, to those turning green got saltines and ginger chews, to just being friendly they were great. They were also really invested in making sure people were educated about the what they were seeing while standing on the rails and providing great tips and stories about the different locations - from the sugar mill to barking sands to ancient fishing villages to a P-3 Orion on anti-sub warfare maneuvers over the Kauai trench between Ni'ihau and Kaua'i. They were also really observant as to the local swimming conditions, we didn't get to snorkeling on our trip because it was winter and the weather was so variable it just wasn't safe for us really. We did see dolphins (spinners and bottle nose), humpback whales, and flying fish. Booze was free and accompanied lunch, which I always love. Definitely would go back out with Captain Rick and the crew of the Lucky Lady next time we are in Kauai. read more

I highly recommend a sea tour of the Na Pali Coast. I did the morning half-day one, and it was worth every penny. Not only did I see a ton of dolphins, I saw a BABY dolphin. And sea turtles. And got to be on a boat!!! Captain Jeff even let me steer the boat! (Er, catamaran.) Continental breakfast was fine, lunch was make-your-own deli meat sandwiches. Cookies, too. We picked the perfect day for a sail aboard the Lucky Lady katamaran. Captain Kauai and his crew of 3 - Captain John, Jennifer & Sarah - were stellar examples of the Aloha Spirit. They were helpful, candid, very knowledgeable in the waters and all the history of the beautiful island of Kauai. We saw monk seals on 2 beaches, sailed with spinner dolphins, had several turtle sightings, flying fish and sea birds galore. Even got close to a waterfall where Boobies were nesting on the rock cliff above a huge sea cave. All that while enjoying a wonderful continental breakfast of pastries, fruit & coffee on an ocean so smooth you could have skied behind the boat. Then Captain Kauai took us to a snorkel spot where lots of colorful fish swam all around us. After that, lunch was served... a nice buffet, and the bar opened for a fabulous return trip. Captain Tom and crew (Ashton, Cameron, and Melea) were an absolute joy to be around. Tom was extremely knowledgeable about the coast, Kauai, and the island history. Ashton was great entertainment. You can tell he loves his job. Cameron and Meeks were extremely helpful especially to those that had issue walking on the boat during rough waves. The drinks flowed freely and Tom takes you closer to places than the other two boats/companies were willing to go. A+ service. I would DEFINETLY recommend to my friends and family. read more

Did the Sunset Catamaran and Snorkeling Tour and it was AMAZING! You will not be disappointed going on this excursion with their crew. I only remember Kez's name, I'm sorry but the whole staff was awesome. Knowledgeable of the history, fun happy attitudes and there to attend to any need or question. The way they moved around the boat while moving, they should be on America Ninja Warrior. As for the excursion itself, you get to see the beautiful coast with waterfalls, saw a couple mountain goats, various waterfalls, caves, sea turtles and we had dolphins all around us at one point swimming side by side and jumping in the air. Incredible! The snorkeling was super fun and saw a bunch of fish and a sea turtle. It was completely safe, they have a lifeguard out in the water at all times too just in case. I recommend using a noodle if you don't plan on going deep under. Don't hesitate and book with Kauai Sea Tours. I wish I remembered the rest of the crew's names b/c they all deserve a shoutout! I live here on island and love when friends/family visit so i can play "tourist" with them! :) During the summer months, seeing the Napali Coast by boat is a must for any visitor. Words can't describe how beautiful it is! I got to go out last year when my big brother and family came to the island and then on 2 separate occasions this year in July & August with friends. Both times on The Lucky Lady catamaran. The crew was awesome both times! They really share their love of this island and the spirit of aloha to the guests. Big shout out to Capt. Geoff & Capt. John, Pono, Joey, Kauai, Chasin & Julie. You guys are da best! Never can get tired of seeing dolphins, sea turtles and the dramatic Napali coastline. I see and learn something new every time I go out. The lunch was filling - make your own sandwiches + chocolate chip cookies + soda. The snorkeling was lots of fun! Pros: Excellent crew, lots of whales, nice explanation of Kauai's coastline. Cons: Dishonesty regarding rerouting our cruise. We booked a sunset dinner cruise up the Na Pali Coast in early January. Needless to say, we were surprised when the boat headed away from the Na Pali Coast. It was not until we asked that we discovered our cruise had been rerouted due to high surf. We were not going to see the Na Pali Coast. The crew and captain were surprised that we hadn't already been made aware of this. After asking other passengers, we found out that they hold been told prior to boarding and were given the option to reschedule or cancel. The actual rerouting was not our main concern. It was how they failed to communicate the rerouting and our options. We ended up paying for a cruise that was different from what we booked. They claimed that we had received a phone call that morning to let us know the change of plans. In addition, they stated they told us at check in, which never happened. Finally, they claimed they had given us the option to cancel or reschedule the cruise. After speaking with the manager about our concern, all she could offer us was a "free" sunset cruise the next time we visit the island. Since I didn't receive this in writing, I'm not counting on them following through with that. Advice-confirm that route of your trip with them at check in. Had they been better at communicating, they would have earned 4 stars. read more

After checking in with super friendly office staff, I found out that the weather conditions around the Na Pali Coast were poor and it was not safe for us to sail there. I was fine with this and felt very safe knowing the captain (Kauai) and the crew were monitoring these things. The cruise was a bit longer than I expected; I thought 4 hours, it lasted almost 5. What was so cool was the love the captain had for the environment and the animals. He kept saying "love you" to the whales. So amazing! read more

We embarked on their 6:45 AM Zodiac tour of the Na Pali coastline, with a beach landing to do some snorkeling and eat some lunch. It was a phenomenal trip. Shawn (captain), Curren and La'a were our guides on the 6.5 hour tour and they were terrific; taking us inside caves and up to waterfalls, pointing out native plants and wildlife, and filling us in on the rich historical background and cultural lore of the amazing sights we were seeing. The waters can be a little exciting during the ride. Therefore they don't recommend people with bad backs/necks or pregnant women partake (their catamaran tour might be a safer option). But if you're up for some beautiful scenery and one heck of a good time I cannot say enough positive things about this trip. Had great fun today on the Zodiac under Kielian and Shawn... We went all the way to the Na Pali area by the south and seen 2 groups of Wild Dolphins in 2 separate times... As promised. Information about historical significance of location were great and the guys made all of us feels like kauai's for a day. read more
