We took the snorkel catamaran tour on 5/5. Due to weather we were unable to head to the Na Pili Coast and instead headed South. Captain (Greg) and crew were uniformly helpful and attentive. We were lucky to see whales ( unusual for May) as well as dolphins and turtles. Snorkeling was great fun. I would take this tour again. read more

On Sunday, February 2, 2020 my two sisters, husband & I got to experience the Napali Coast aboard the Catamaran at Kauai Sea Tours. My husband and I are living temporarily on the island, and did a similar boat ride to this one back in August, but through a different company (I won't name names). This boat tour FAR exceeded the other one we did. From the attentiveness and thoughtfulness of the crew (Matt, Cameron & Kim), to the yummy meals/snacks/drinks we were provided with in the 6 hours we were aboard the catamaran, to the stunning views of the coastline and, especially, snorkeling experience-- this trip had it all. We were lucky enough to snorkel while a pod of spinner dolphins swam by (!!!!). We then saw several pods swimming up to the boat later on our trip, as well as whales off in the distance. These people are the best. My boyfriend and I originally booked the half-day whale watching tour because we were scared about all the motion-sickness warnings from reviews and on their site. Because there weren't enough people booked on our tour, the staff immediately called us and offered to take us on the full-day raft tour. We decided to suck it up and it was well-worth it. There were only 8 people on the raft (max 14) so we had lots of room and actually when the boat is moving fast, you don't get sea sick. Only one person got a little sick on the ride and that was when we were on lunch break and the raft was anchored. I would just suggest bringing some soda or ginger candy if you are sensitive OR....don't spend too much time on the boat during lunch and more time in the ocean snorkeling during that time. We were super close to spinner dolphins and that was the highlight of my entire trip to Kauai. We also saw many humpback whales from far away. The staff on the raft really wanted us to get our money's worth and we didn't travel to Napali because it looked like really bad weather. We went to the other side of the island and got a lot of sun and great snorkeling. I thought the staff was super nice and helpful. Loved them! read more

I went on one of the sunset tours of the Napali Coast tonight with my family. We really liked it - great crew onboard, really nice new ship, decent food, and beautiful sights of course! They took us snorkeling at this reef which was pretty barren, but had quite a few fish. I don't like to see TOO many fish when I snorkel... Kinda freaks me out. The only reason I took off a star was because they seem to pack more people onto their tours than the other tour ships that are the same size! Maybe that's just because this tour is the most famous and most popular, and the other tours could hold more but just don't fill up? I'm not really sure what the case is, but I would have liked there to be just a few less people on board. Oh, and please do yourselves (and everyone around you) a favor and take something before the tour so you don't get seasick! We went on the evening dinner cruise, on Thursday 10/3. We were disappointed. It felt like we went full speed down the Na Poli coast, then without stopping the catamaran was turned around. While turning the crew took our pictures and then we went full speed back. The water was rough, I don't know if our speed made it feel rougher, but several people on board were vomiting. I took a double dose of medicine. There was no luxury to the trip. We ate while being bounced all over. We had expected to stop and float around some, at least during dinner, but the whole ride felt rushed. The crew was very friendly but the ride didn't meet our expectations. So we decided to do the raft tour since we enjoy a little more of a thrill ride than a catamaran has to offer and boy did we get it. This tour was an absolute blast and apparently we were quite lucky that the seas were not too rough on the way out so we were able to go inside the sea caves and land at the beach which I guess you typically cannot do during the winter season. This all drastically changed for the way back where you had to hang on for dear life for a good hour and a half. The staff was fantastic, the lunch was good, and the boat was in great condition. We saw tons of turtles and dolphins and the had plently of opportunities to take pictures. A must do for any thrill seakers but when they ask you if anyone has any back issues or prefers a more relaxing day...they mean it! read more

Just got home from Kauai and had a totally amazing time while there. We booked a tour on the Lucky Lady and was truly amazed at how wonderful the day turned out to be. I have to say Captain Jeff and his crew were wonderful. They made the trip fun and Tig can make one heck of a Mai Tai :). That boy deserves a raise!!!!! We snorkeled with Turtles, seen some amazing fish and also seen a ton of dolphins. I've snorkeled in plenty of waters, but must say Kauai had the clearest water of all. Our trip with Kauai Sea Tours was one of the best experiences of my life! Seeing the Na Pali Coast from a Zodiac boat was absolutely incredible, and I highly recommend it to anyone who can handle the motion of the boat (a few in our group could not). That said, our Captain Shawn, and our guide Noaheli'e were amazing, and did all they could to make this a great experience for everyone. Overall, I'd recommend this 1/2 day adventure cruise as a great way to see the Kaua'i from the sea, although it is a pricey outing. We went on the morning 1/2 day catamaran (Lucky Lady) cruise from Port Allen to Na Pali coast and back. It is best to think of it as a 1/2 day boat cruise, where you may get one snorkel swim in (depends on weather and seas), and where you may see whales (depending on season). Our trip today fortunately included both. This time of year you get to see humpback whale cows with their calves. And we saw green sea turtles surfacing, spinner dolphins, and a few bottle nose dolphins. The crew played up and kept us engaged during each sighting. If you booked your trip through another party such as an agent or reseller, you must bring your receipt. We left ours out in the car and they made me go back to get it. There were 37 guests. One captain plus three crew served us well. The on-board continental breakfast included banana bread, scones, coffee cake, and coffee. There were always soft drinks available in a cooler. Lunch was a built-your-own sandwich affair--with enough items to even build a basic cheese/vegetarian version. The boat was clean, including the two heads. They played a good variety of music from reggae, to classic rock, to contemporary pop. They make you leave your shoes at their dock facility and you must go barefoot on board. You will be in the sun the whole time, unless you go inside, but that's where it is easy to feel seasick, or "special" as the crew taught us to say. As in "are you feeling special?, can I get you some ginger ale or a pill?" Anyway, if you are light skinned, definitely bring coverups, hat, sunscreen, etc. Even though it is a large 60 ft boat, if you can't handle a little bouncing around and getting splashed, skip this cruise and instead sign up for one of those 3,000 person princess or whatever cruise ships. The snorkeling was confined to an area of approximately 8-12 foot depth--they kept us out of shallower area--presumably to protect the coral from getting stepped on, or for our safety, not sure. I was disappointed to see the crew throwing junk food out to the reef fish--that is generally something frowned upon by environmentally concerned citizens. But then, there we were in a 60 foot diesel motor-sailer noisily bouncing along. read more

We took this sunset Na Pali ride based on the very favorable reviews here on Yelp. One word- SUFFERING!!! This ride is just WAY too long. It was 4 hours of insane agony. The ride on the catamaran was so uncomfortable that by the end of the trip- practically everyone on the boat was either with their eyes slammed shut, lying down and/or still blowing chunks in there respective buckets. (I counted at least three different people.) In short- everyone was over it! On the positive side- the crew was top notch- espeically Kauai as well as the rest of the hawaii local crew who were always there making sure everyone was doing OK with drinks and in some cases even handing them the puke bucket. The Captain was also very warm and hospitable!! This negative review is very unfortunate because customer service was a 10 out of 10. read more

We loved our tour of the Na Pali coast on the zodiac style boats. A bit apprehensive as back and neck injuries can occur; however we had great weather and even on the return trip which is definitely choppy we managed to keep our balance and enjoy the waves. The boats are small enough to go close to shore and into the caves. Our guides were great giving us details of the coast and some history. We stopped to have lunch (they provided sandwiches) and snorkeling in one of the coves. It wasn't exclusive as other boats came into the same spot but certainly there was enough reef area for all. These boats do require a lot of balance and holding onto ropes the entire time. If the conditions were very choppy with high swells it could be rough on the back and neck. But our conditions were manageable. read more

This company is consistently fun, adventurous, and friendly. On Sept. 10, 2013, I went on the zodiac tour of the Na Pali coast. I have now gone on their zodiac tours twice and their catamaran tour once. If you're an adventurous person and don't mind getting pounded in the waves a lot, I highly recommend the zodiac tour. If you have bad knees or a bad back or get sea sick, I would go more with the catamaran tour. Either way, with Kauai Sea Tours, you're going to have a great time! On my zodiac tour, we didn't see a ton of turtles, but we saw two spinner dolphin pods and the day was calm enough that we went in sea caves and landed on the coast! The landing is a great way to stop, have some food (lunch is included), and snorkel some of the Na Pali coast. You also get to explore the ruins of an ancient Hawaiian village. Our captain and crewman were incredibly knowledgeable and funny. This is a must-do when you visit Kauai and try to do the zodiac tour! You get so much closer to the ocean, animals, and coast! read more

Kauai, the crew member, was the best! Very helpful and entertaining. The skies were clear but the water was very choppy. Prior to making the reservation I spoke with Rita and she said it had been clear skies for the last 2 weeks and the tours were able to snorkle. Not true for us. The waves were so big it was like a scene in the movie "A Perfect Storm." We has all taken dramamine the night before and the day of but my mom and 5 year old still got sea sick. The rest of us were okay. So if you plan on taking a tour make sure to check the weather, apply plenty of sun screen, and bring a waterproof jacket because you will get soaked even when you don't plan on it. read more

Stunning coast line, explored caves (went inside, which was the high lite of the tour), learned about the culture of the Hawaiian people, great sandwich lunch with a little walk. Snorkeling was great. Huge trigger, angle fish, puffers, many more. Not much time snorkeling but really enjoyed the time and location. Seeing the coast line close up was awesome!! Fun on the raft, my kids (10&13) had a great time also. Can be rough on your back with the bumps and holding on to the raft rope. Pilot of the boat Mano was funny, friendly, knew his history, and I felt safe with my family. Crew member "Mr Clean" was equally fantastic! I don't know where to start. My husband and I took the Sunset Dinner cruise for our 5 year anniversary. This has to be one of the best experiences ever. Well worth it! The crew James, Kai, Kapono, Ness were amazing. Thank you guys so much! They were so welcoming. They were constantly checking to see if anyone needed anything. Not to mention the great conversations we had with them. They were awesome about taking pictures for everyone also. Food and drinks were great. But the most captivating part about the whole tours are the views. Today the sky's weren't the clearest but the waves were calm allowing us to see more than were the would usually stop, getting parts of the boat under some water falls, seeing inside some of the caves without getting in and even close enough to see some billy goats walking on the edges of cliffs. I am so grateful for this wonderful experience. And Kai can sing. He sang At Last for us at the end of the cruise while the sun was setting. Btw this is a must do! Couple tips- it is a barefoot cruise. If you like me and you're always cold, definitely walk w/ a jacket/shawl. If you burn easily use sunscreen. Definitely have cash for tips. Always keep a hand on the railing. And have a great time. PS Hope you charge you batteries to take all the unforgettable sceneries you'll see!! read more

I did the snorkeling tour wit my husband. The staff was fantastic. Boat was very clean and accommodating. Take the earliest tour to see dolphins, amazing experience. Food was okay, good for the circumstances. Honestly, it was a little long. At about 4 hours I wanted to be finished. The snorkeling was okay..there was only one stop for about an hour and we only saw a few schools of fish. Milky water. You can jump off the boat or there was even a slide. read more

Our catamaran tour included about one hour of snorkeling shortly after departing at around 7:30 (following the 6:45 check in). We then proceeded to the Na'Poli coast, stopping on the way to do some whale watching. The Na'Poli cliffs and valleys were truly beautiful. Jeff our captain and his staff of three mates took great care of us. Trip included coffee and rolls. Lunch buffet consisted of sandwiches, pasta salad, and cookies. Beer, and Mai Tais were available on the return leg of the trip. We experienced extremely clear and calm conditions, but still recommend taking motion sickness pills for the trip since Ocean swells are always present. This was one of the few activities we'd consider doing more than once on our vacation trip to Kaua'i. read more

Capt and crew were cool. Not the best service from the ladies in the front office. Napali coast got canceled and a "text" was sent out to call, for them to let us know it switched to whale watching in the south. When we got there they had more spots open up cause of all the cancellations and they charged us differently online than when we paid in person for one more spot. We asked why this was the case and said there was a reservation fee, but nowhere online does it say anything about reservation fee, online even tells you there is a 10% discount which is useless cause it still costs more. Book whale watching on Maui, saw a lot more deals for 2 for 50-60 instead of paying 110$ for ONE person. I kind of aPpreciate the captain trying to do a tour style along the coast showing different bays and harbours but since it says whale watching I had hoped it wouuld jusst be chasing whales, closest we got was maybe 50 yards. Of course I understand we can't control the humpbacks to do flips for us so I guess it was still the highlight to even see them. Honestly it doesn't feel good to pay 2 different prices and it feels cheap to fight for the extra money so I didn't make a big deal about it in person,, but if you have 10+ people canceling they should do a better job with the customers they were able to keep to get better reviews. read more

We took our Ocean Raft Adventure Tour a few days ago (Sat., 22 Jun) but we still want to take time writing this review. It was not only informativ (Did you know that dolphins "sleep" with about half of their brains shut down while still coming to the surface? ;)) and funny it was actually an awesome little adventure within our big adventure of a honeymoon trip. Manny and Sky were not just good in being entertaining and making the time pass very fast, they are those kind of guys you would like to consider being friends with. Trip was about 4 hours with plenty of stops on the coast to see waterfalls and canyons. This isn't a harbor cruise, you will get wet. Bring a towel. Just returned from the trip and overall it was awesome! We did the RHIB (Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat - kinda like a Zodiac but handles better in rough seas) trip. The guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. According to them there are approximately 20 different tours in the area that take you along the Na Pali Coast but they are only 1 of 3 that have a permit that allows them to go ashore where you get a quick tour of an old village. On the trip we saw rays, spinner dolphins, and green turtles all before we started snorkeling. Get an underwater camera to catch all the varied sea life you'll see at the reef. The two negatives I have are 1. The snorkeling could have been longer (they can fix that) and 2. the ride back was very rough (No changing mother nature but they did warn us it could be rough). Despite the negatives I'm giving them all five starts because they were great and this is going to leave us with great memories. Trip says they'll take kids over 5 but I think if I had brought my son (6 y/o) he would have been miserable on the approximate 1 hour ride back. Do the trip (if you're not injured), expect to be very happy but a little sore. read more
