    Kava Sunset

The past three years living in Hawai'i, I've always looked forward to seeing Ava at the nearby Kaka'ako Farmers Market and enjoying some of her fresh-made kava. She has such a warm personality and it's obvious from the first few seconds you interact with her that she cares not only about her amazing product, but also about the lives of her customers. I am beyond thrilled that she now has an amazing space in the Waialua silos for her kava bar! The ambiance is extremely welcoming and her menu includes a wide variety of kava blends and kava-tails to match whatever flavor you're craving. When I stopped in for a visit, I tried the Kava Sunset, which included pineapple, coconut, rose hips, hibiscus, and of course, kava! The taste was out of this world! You got that typical relaxed kava mouthfeel with the added tropical fruit complements that really made it stand out. The bar also puts on special events like open mic nights on certain days each month. Come for the kava, stay for the vibes!

This is a lovely, intimate little spot where it's easy to unwind because the owner and Kava Bar tender, Ava, herself is welcoming, friendly and easy going. The spot is a little challenging to find, but DEFINITELY worth the effort to keep looking until you find it.

I had never tried Kava before but my friend wanted to stop by as we randomly passed by on our road trip. The horchata Kava was sooooo good. The kava bar is in the back. Parking can be limited but this is a good place to chill and have a pleasant time. It's off the tourist path, but if you have a rental, stop by. I felt the peace here. It's the only Kava bar in Oahu.

You gotta make it to Kava Queen!! I'm not a fan of kava...but my husband is. The owner let me try a couple of her flavored options and she hit the nail on the head, pineapple was delicious...I went for the chocolate in the end. She is very knowledgeable and SO nice...like a breath of fresh air! The shop is really cute, they share space with Mele mele Bakery at the old sugar mill. If you haven't been, you need to go...if you have been, we will probably see you there next time as we plan to go again!

Here is her menu! Go support local business women!

Ava was so sweet at explaining things to me and introducing me to Kava! I cannot wait to take home my tincture and try it out but she gave me some samples to try and I can definitely see the benefits way better for me since I don't drink alcohol! Support local and shop local always! Attached to a cute little restaurant with good food too!

Super bomb got the traditional the limeade, and fruity . A cocktail w kava and a vibey spot in sugar mill to come hang. Missing out if you never come try! Owner is so sweet too!!

There is an upstairs seating area that must provide some exceptional views, but it was closed during our visit. Our lunch was easily 5-star. We began with the Spicy Ahi Wontons. Fresh ahi with shallots, scallions, tobiko (Japanese caviar), and cabbage. This App was extremely complex with a hint of spice. Truly wonderful! For our mains we ordered the grilled mahi mahi and fish and chips. My mahi mahi was grilled to a moist perfection, and the brown butter sauce could have overwhelmed the fish, so I went light on the sauce. Their fish n' chips are not your traditional Irish bar offering. The fish was gently battered with panko and fried just right. Their homemade tarter sauce was absolutely delicious. They have a very interesting craft cocktail menu. My Ku'Ula-Kai Mai Tai was on point and perfectly balanced - sweet and sour. Plus 1's Aloalo Fizz reminded her of a Paloma, only made with vodka with a tropical twist. Service was attentive and knowledgeable regarding the menu and ingredients. We really appreciated the chill environment, beautiful view, and the welcoming ocean breeze. Pro tip: After dinner, head downtown to walk off your lunch/dinner and check out all the shops. Dessert? If you enjoy waiting in a long line, then the famous shaved ice shop is located there (IYKYK).

Minus star for that. Anyway, at first we declined but my daughters actually ended up wanting some so we gave in. I ordered the taco salad with ground beef and my husband ordered the carne asada.
