Thanks to Yelp, we stopped by the Haleiwa Beach House during our North Shore road trip. This is an open-air restaurant with views of the bay. There is an upstairs seating area that must provide some exceptional views, but it was closed during our visit. Our lunch was easily 5-star. We began with the Spicy Ahi Wontons. Fresh ahi with shallots, scallions, tobiko (Japanese caviar), and cabbage. This App was extremely complex with a hint of spice. Truly wonderful! For our mains we ordered the grilled mahi mahi and fish and chips. My mahi mahi was grilled to a moist perfection, and the brown butter sauce could have overwhelmed the fish, so I went light on the sauce. Their fish n' chips are not your traditional Irish bar offering. The fish was gently battered with panko and fried just right. Their homemade tarter sauce was absolutely delicious. They have a very interesting craft cocktail menu. My Ku'Ula-Kai Mai Tai was on point and perfectly balanced - sweet and sour. Plus 1's Aloalo Fizz reminded her of a Paloma, only made with vodka with a tropical twist. Service was attentive and knowledgeable regarding the menu and ingredients. We really appreciated the chill environment, beautiful view, and the welcoming ocean breeze. Pro tip: After dinner, head downtown to walk off your lunch/dinner and check out all the shops. Dessert? If you enjoy waiting in a long line, then the famous shaved ice shop is located there (IYKYK).
Stunning views, and delicious food... This place is not only beautiful it is the perfect place for a meal with friends or ohana. The service here was excellent (thank you to Cash for being an outstanding server.) We were greeted immediately, seated immediately, and had drinks in front of us within 5 minutes. Highly recommend as a place to chil, eat and enjoy your day.
I visited Haleiwa Beach House during my recent trip to Hawaii. My family and I were at the beach all day in the area and were looking for a restaurant that could accommodate our large party (6 adults & 4 kids). We arrived right when the restaurant was opening and were lucky enough to be seated immediately. The parking lot is relatively small, but we lucked out by being there right at opening. I loved the seating area, it is completely open and we were able to enjoy the light breeze and beautiful weather. I ordered the Grilled Mahi Mahi which comes with garlic ponzu long beans and lemon caper brown butter sauce (which I requested on the side) and white rice. I am glad I decided to put the sauce on the side because the sauce was really rich and I enjoyed it more as a light dipping sauce versus drenching the plate with it. The Mahi Mahi was delicious and cooked perfectly. The kids menu here is amazing, the kids all loved their choices. I tried some of the Chicken Tenders and it was one of the best I have ever had! The staff here are wonderful! They were so attentive and checked on us multiple times throughout our meal. The food came out quickly and just as we ordered. I would highly recommend Haleiwa Beach House to anyone craving fresh and delicious food... there is a variety of choices on the menu, everyone in our party was able to pick what they wanted and we all left full and happy :)
Haleiwa Beach House has the bones of a great North Shore meal. Good drinks, strong appetizers, a beautiful room and a few dishes that really landed. The cocktails were the highlight. The corn was excellent and the ribeye was cooked really well. But the experience had some friction. The host stand felt unnecessarily rigid and disorganized. They would not seat us until the full party was physically standing there, even though the table was ready and the rest of our group was coming from parking. It left everyone awkwardly crowded up front with another party. Service was also slow. Drinks, napkins and basic follow up took too long. We ordered ribeyes and the knives didn't arrive until the steaks had already started cooling, which is a small thing that becomes a big thing when the kitchen actually did its part. The space is nice, but it gets hot and once it got darker the mosquitoes became a real problem. Bring repellent if you are going around sunset. Food wise, it was mixed but mostly good. The drinks were solid, the appetizers were strong and the ribeye was the best thing we ordered. The lobster salad was the weak point, more like boxed mixed greens with overcooked lobster than something worth ordering again. The kids' pizza felt frozen and heavy, but the kids were happy enough. I'd probably come back, but I'd come prepared. Mosquito repellent, patience with the front desk and realistic expectations on service.
We found this restaurant by chance this evening and decided to give it a try with our family. When we arrived, we were told that the restaurant was closing in about 10 minutes, but the staff kindly welcomed us in and gave us the opportunity to order quickly. Although some items on the menu were no longer available, they offered us great alternatives, and we ended up having a wonderful dinner. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the view was absolutely beautiful. We truly enjoyed our evening here and appreciated the kindness and hospitality of the staff. It was a lovely experience, and we would definitely recommend this restaurant.
We were greeted with such kindness by the hostess and served by 'Ekolu. He tended to us often and always with a smile. His positive energy was refreshing and pleasant. He laughed with us as we joked in conversation and he instantly felt like a friend of ours. When we left our table to take pictures of the sunset, he immediately placed a fan near our food to keep any flying bugs away. He was the best!!! The food and drinks were delicious!! The sunset view was priceless!
On our way to the North Shore, my family and I stopped by around 1 or 2 p.m. because the place looked packed from the outside, and we were cruising around looking for a good meal. We stopped in and were given a table with a positively awesome view of the shore. Our server was very nice, but she regularly forgot to bring us napkins and straws when asked. Otherwise, she was great. Our food came out quite quickly after ordering considering how busy the restaurant was! I ordered the Garlic Shrimp, which was really good. Despite how appetizing it looked, it was not very heavy in flavor-- which is a bit disappointing. The Garlic Shrimp was well cooked and the creamy garlic sauce was nice and palatable, but I wanted more of that signature deep garlic flavor that you crave in garlic shrimp. The grilled lemon was an amazing touch, and that salad with yuzu dressing was absolutely my favorite part. The Yuzu dressing was absolutely to-die for, and I'm certain the salad that came with the plate was even better than the shrimp, which should've been just a bit more flavorful in order to give the dish more impact. Otherwise, I'm quite happy with my experience here, and my family seemed pleased with their own dishes. The restaurant accommodated changes to the meal, which is good if you have family members with other dietary needs. Overall, a solid stop while you're exploring the North Shore!
This was the best restaurant we ate at during our three week visit to Hawaii. We had a party of seven. The server was very friendly and attentive. All the meals were delicious. I had blackened Mahi-mahi. The outer laver was very flavorful while the center was moist without being over cooked. All the other meals in our group were delicious. The restaurant is beautiful. You can see the harbor and mountains from the restaurant, but the first row of seats hear a little road noise. The prices are high but the quality of food and service are also high. I would definitely go back on my next trip to the North Shore.
Some of the best calamari I've had. Light and crispy. The shrimp po'boy sandwich was great too!
We came here unexpectedly after a long day at the beach on the north shore. We came closer to close but the service and staff was extremely kind and welcoming. I had the fries to start and they were crispy and hot when they came out. I had the braised short rib and subbed potatoes for the sweet corn and it was fantastic. I really enjoyed my meal here. Boyfriend had the NY steak and his was also well cooked.
After visiting Waimea Falls, we were ready for dinner and found this place on Yelp. We started with the calamari appetizer, which was delicious and came with two sauces: yuzu mayonnaise and Thai chili. Both were excellent and complemented the dish well. We definitely enjoyed the calamari a lot. For the main course, I had the Lobster and Shrimp Red Curry. The flavor was great, but it was quite salty for my taste - I had to eat it with rice with every bite to balance it out. My husband ordered the Thai Fried Chicken, which was perfectly cooked and boneless. I was surprised since I expected it to have bones. It was very tasty. The service was excellent, and the ambiance was lovely - right across from the beach, where we were able to enjoy the sunset.
I had an amazing experience this morning at the Haleiwa beach house! The staff was kind & ready to serve my husband & I from the moment we walked into the establishment! We were seated with water views! It was nice & cool this morning. Our server was Ollie, who was the absolute best !!! (I may have spelt his name wrong, sorry in advance) The calamari was very tender & had delicious breading. It was served with 2 types of sauces, zuzu aioli & spicy nuoc Cham. My hubbs preferred the nuoc Cham & I preferred the aioli! I had the clam chowder & hubbs had the po boy. They were all a 10/10!! I highly recommend!

Really enjoyed the food here. We went before dinner service, so the menu was limited to appetizers, but honestly, that didn't bother us because everything we ordered was very, very good. The flavors felt much more elevated than I expected from a beachside restaurant. Everything tasted thoughtfully prepared, and it genuinely felt like there was a real chef working in the kitchen rather than just standard bar food. The service was excellent and very attentive and the indoor-outdoor seating ambience with the ocean across the street was amazing. Even with the limited menu, I would happily come back to try the dinner offerings. Definitely a great spot to stop if you're in Haleiwa and looking for something a little more elevated. read more
Skip the poke here! I know, I know, those are fighting words in Hawaii and probably not the opening you expected for a four-star review. And it's not to say that I didn't like the poke bowl I had at Beach House. (I mean, what's not to love about about digging into some fresh ahi when you're literally feet away from the beach?) It's just that I had the otherworldly experience of eating from Foodland's poke bar the night prior to my lunch here and I couldn't help comparing it to the legendary Foodland. That said, the poke was still delicious and its runner-up status didn't distract from the rest of my meal. The spicy ahi wonton was a standout starter -- the shallot, scallion, tobiko, and chili aioli approach they have for the ahi here works better for the fish than their "beach house special poke sauce" in my opinion. Top it all off with a plantation iced tea: an island version of the Arnold Palmer that replaces the customary lemonade with tropical pineapple juice. We came in around 2:30 pm so we essentially had the dining room to ourselves after the lunch rush, if you don't count the cute zebra dove bird that walked around below the table halfway into our meal, trying to see if there were any stray crumbs it could peck at. Alas, we had deemed the food too good. read more
This restaurant is right across the beach with a good amount of parking. I was able to park right in the front. Even though it's in front of the beach, just to let you know you need to wear a shirt. I came in with a bikini top and was asked to put on a shirt. I don't mind that I understand. So just remember if you're planning to eat here to bring your shirt if you're gonna go to the beach across the street We got the local moco and we also got the garlic shrimp plate. We also got the kids pizza and fries. The fries were different shape so my kid didn't like that lol We also got two mocktails and I can't remember which one it was but one of them was super sour but the other one was really refreshing. Can't really complain because I believe the sour drink with alcohol in. It would've tasted very good lol but we opt out for alcohol and ask for mocktails. We tried the calamari, which I enjoyed way more than my entrée. The garlic shrimp was OK. I liked that it had a lot of sauce and flavor. Can't beat the garlic shrimp trucks, but it was pretty good. The local mall was also really good different. I wasn't too much of a fan of it. Overall experience was great. The service was nice. The parking was easy to find the ambience was beautiful outdoorsy love that. Definitely gives that beach house vibes for sure. read more

Service with Aloha. Our server was Raymond and he set the tone for our lunch. He was extremely friendly, attentive, and and to provide recommendations. The views are amazing and parking is decent as long as there are no events happening (i.e. paddling). The menu is small which is nice, with a variety of land and sea choices. The local flare to the dishes are a nice touch. I had the steak friters and the ahi club sandwich. The food was amazing. Also added on dessert, cookie and ice cream. I feel by far that was the best chocolate cookie I've ever had. We plan to have cookie dates there in the future. read more
Service was outstanding and waitress helped us out with our ordering. Absolutely beautiful setting with comfortable chairs. I got the fish and hurricane fries which were absolutely delicious. Tasted so fresh and crispy. My wife got the teriyaki beef plate, which she really enjoyed. Drinks were incredible. read more
Delicious!! Had dinner here last Saturday and it was delicious and wonderful! The service was spot on! Nice gentleman was very attentive and helpful through out our dinner. The ambiance is very inviting and comfortable to sit the day away eating and drinking. The appetizers were delicious, ahi poke and fried calamari. Super yummy! Crunchy tender tasty pieces of calamari in a crispy batter. The tender juicy pieces of tasty ahi were delicious! The clam chowder was one of the best we have ever had! Every bite and I mean every bite is loaded with tender juicy pieces of clams and goodies. This chowder can definitely be a meal in itself! It is so creamy and delicious that I can't wait to come back. We both had the lobster cob salad. The greens were so fresh and crispy but the real high light is the lobster. It is to die for! So buttery and juicy that I could eat a ton of it. Every bite was light eating a delicious bite of tender lobster soaked in butter! We shared a chocolate lava cake with ice cream which was a perfect end to such a wonderfully delicious meal! So yummy!!!!!!! If we could give this place 6 stars we would! By far, one of the best restaurants i have visited in Honolulu. This gem sits on the North Shore in Haleiwa. I had the pleasure of visiting a few times now. The restaurant offers not only great food but awesome views of the beach at Haleiwa. The staff are great. Inhave had the fries and Loco Moco. Both were fantastic. The fries were like were hot and crispy, seasoned well. The Loco Moco is spot on. It is everything good in dish; ground beef, rice, brown gravy, with a fried egg on top. You can't go wrong with that dish. Drinks are fantastic as well. Mai tai and Blue Hawaiians are always good. The crowd is always inviting. I look forward to my next visit. read more
Parking in front of the restaurant is great. We were lucky and got the ocean front seating. The menu itself has a variety of options. We enjoyed the edamame, spicy ahi taco, clam chowder. For main dish we had Kalua pig sandwich, spicy ahi club, and fish clans chips. They were all delicious. read more

By a lover of beauty who mourns its wasted potential Ah, Hale'iwa Beach House... A property with the soul of an empress and the execution of a court jester. From the moment you arrive, you're bewitched. The view? A seascape fit for a Monet. The building? Minimalist coastal with just enough rustic wood and glass to tease you into thinking you're about to experience something transcendent. It whispers promises of candlelit elegance and curated bites kissed by the Pacific breeze. But then the music fades, and the spell breaks. Let's start with the cocktails. The menu reads like a college freshman's first mixology attempt: sweet, syrupy, and painfully uninspired. One sip, and I was transported, not to Paris, not to a smoky jazz bar in Manhattan, but to a watered-down luau mixer. This bar doesn't have a mixologist; it has a bartender who memorized TikTok recipes. Nothing balanced, nothing bold. Just booze in a cup with a twist of lime to mask the absence of art. The steak, dear God, the steak. A slab of flesh masquerading as surf-n-turf royalty. Chewy, under-seasoned, lacking any of the sear or sensuality that a proper cut deserves. I've had better in airports. It's the kind of meat that dies twice: once in the slaughterhouse, and again on this grill. And the menu? A schizophrenic identity crisis. Is it seafood? Is it Thai ? Is it island comfort food? Is it tourist trap fusion? It reads like a committee of indecisive chefs had a group therapy session and everyone's trauma made it onto the plate. Nothing is signature. Nothing sings. Just a chorus of safe, bland, and forgettable dishes trying to please everyone and seducing no one. And yet... the place could be brilliant. It has the bones. The view. The light. The ambiance. With a real chef, a real bar program, and a point of view--it could rival the best in Oahu. But right now, it's dressed like royalty, but serving fast-casual in a tuxedo. A lover scorned still hopes. I'll return--but only after they cleanse the menu, hire a mixologist, and let the place finally become what it pretends to be. Until then, Hale'iwa Beach House is all foreplay, no climax. 3 stars--for the view, the promise, and the pain of what could be. read more

I came here this afternoon with my family. Since I have various food allergies, I decided to write out my allergies for the server so that she can share it with the kitchen staff. Usually in these situations, I am used to getting a burger without a bun or just having a beverage while everyone eats. Our server brought my list to the kitchen and it turns out that the only option that would fit my dietary needs was the Lobster Cobb Salad I was super excited because this was something I had my eye on when I l9oked at the menu. I truly appreciate how the staff went over amd beyond so that I could enjoy my meal with my family, two of whom were visiting. The food was delicious, the restaurant was charming with a great vibe, and the service was great. I highly recommend you check it out, especially for the beach views. read more
We came here after spending the day in Haleiwa. We liked the view and the restaurant was relatively busy. We had a wonderful view of the ocean and the sunset for dinner. Our waitress was incredibly helpful and nice. The hostess was accommodating to let us have a nice table! To start, the sweet corn was delicious. The seasoning was perfect. It was sweet and the serving was good. I love that they have the skewers so those who do not bite the cob could easily cut it off. It was delicious. For dinner, I had the shrimp and lobster red Thai curry. It was PHENOMENAL. There was a slight spice and there was ample meat. The shrimp and lobster were cooked well and paired really well with the curry. The rice portion was great and I loved the carrots, beans, and other veggies and potatoes in the curry. It was truly delightful. My husband had the grilled mahi mahi, it was delicious as well. The fish was tender and well cooked. I also really enjoyed the veggies. The drinks were really good, particularly the lemonade. It was not a typical lemonade but it was so sweet and yummy. My husband also had the fried ice cream. Had only been here a few times in the past years for drinks and apps, but decided to stay here for dinner and was not disappointed. I ordered the Thai lobster and shrimp and it was soooo good. Loved all my drinks! And of course, was there for sunset for great views all around. Service was great also. I feel like we had many people coming to our table to check up on us. read more

The service was excellent but I found the food just about average. We ordered garlic shrimp plate (I was expecting the shrimp had a bit of crunch to it instead of just sautéed it) and the poke bowl. The ambiance was nice overlooking the water. read more

We walked in for lunch and it was surprisingly busy for a weekday. We were seated with an amazing view of Haleiwa and the breeze was perfect. We were greeted by our server Nick who was hands down the best. He has brought hope back to the younger generation of servers. He offered his suggestions and we needed up getting the calamari, Uncle's Teri Sandwich, Thai Crispy Chicken Sandwich, and the corn. The calamari was delicious crispy and the dipping sauce paired well. The chicken sandwich was topped with papaya salad and cilantro which was winner. I had wish there was more. We sat downstairs and had a beautiful view of the coast. The staff here is very friendly and helpful explaining the menu and giving good answers about food items and drinks. Not only for our table but I could hear them taking care of others as well. Place as a nice upscale charm to it and there was a steady flow of regulars and first-timers like us which is a good sign. People are coming to this place on purpose...LOL.... The entree $ theme here is $26. Pretty much any main course is right at that price range. I decided on the poke bowl, my wife picked the shrimp po' boy sandwich, and my two girls decided to share the garlic shrimp dish since they both were eating trail mix on the drive out here. This side of the island is in stark contrast to Honolulu or the developed side of Oahu and was quite peaceful and chill. The tuna was of course fantastic on the poke bowl. I like a little wasabi or English mustard but they don't really carry that. To be clear, the poke bowl stood well enough on its own so compliments there. They did offer to provide a spicy aioli which more than satisfied me and also made a good dip for the fries that came with my wife's po boy. Her po' boy had what amounts to a Hawaiian slaw on bread that I thought rivaled Gambino's from Louisiana. The shrimp were great and as mentioned before it came with fries. My kids had the shrimp was is presented in garlic sauce that is well-flavored, walking the line between not enough and too much perfectly. Rice mound comes out with furikake for flavor (which happens to be a favorite for my kids to add at home) and a salad with a ginger dressing that they said they both enjoyed. I would have liked to have seen the tails plucked and the shrimp de-veined but the flavors were dead on all over the plate. My wife got a Mai Tai drink and I stuck with water since it was near an hour drive back to Kapolei area to meet family. While you are there, make the quick drive down the road to Long's Drugs, park , and enjoy the outdoor shopping. Also a good time to try the world famous shave ice..... Tab came out to $100 on the dot and we left $120 cash and a heart-felt thank you. Make the trip out here and you won't regret it. read more
