    Chicken burger with fries
    Josh R.

This is one of the best meals and hands down the best service we had while in Dublin! We came for lunch right after they opened. I order the chicken burger with fries. Both were very good! The chicken had a lot of flavor. The staff were excellent! We had two people checking in on us, and they made sure we had everything we needed. I highly recommend this place!

    Lunch before the tour

I'm not being generous, I'm being honest. The food isn't great but the service, alcohol menu and ambiance make up for it. The staff was warm and friendly. Very patient with me and my daughter when we questioned the menu. She enjoyed her sausage wrap but the salad that came with it wasn't great. I had the burger - it was mostly bread but tasty. The fries were undercooked. The ambiance was very casual and laid back and when it began to drizzle the staff encouraged us to stay wait it out. Very nice place.

Bangers n mash! Delicious! Heavy but good!

Came here for lunch before our kilmainham gaol tour. This is literally across the street from the prison. Service was great. Our waitress was really friendly and had 1 arm in a cast. Food came out quick and it was delicious. I had the bangers and mash here and love the food! I could eat the food in Dublin all day, even though it's very heavy but so delicious w/ the sausages and mashed potatoes. Others in my party had the fish n chips and salads. The fish n chips were 2 large pieces of fish with the biggest cut French fries I've seen. Recommend if walking around in the area. TV in the dining room had the soccer games on.

This place is so cute and just steps away from the Kilmainham Gail. It was a rainy day so we ran in here for lunch after our tour and it did not disappoint. Cute tall booths lined the wall along with tables in the middle and a large bar. This restaurant has daily specials. We opted for the Guinness stew with mashed potatoes. Tender beef that's been slow cooked for hours with lots of flavor. Servers were friendly and attentive. Make sure you stop here for lunch after your visit to Kilmainham!

It's conveniently right across the street from the prison (can't just walk in there) so it became a pit stop while waiting for my tour. Ordered the classic burger and fries and the sandwich itself was huge with more than half of it bread. The beef patty was pretty large as well, and garlic in flavor. It's a good place for large groups they can easily accommodate, or if you need convenience, but the food itself wasn't spectacular enough to make me want to go out of my way there again. There's also no TV's in the main room if watching games is something that is important to you.

Pardon me, I'm about to be un-patriotic. Located across the junction from Kilmainham Gaol and The Irish Museum of Modern Art, Patriots Inn offers hot food, cold pints and a place to rest weary sneakers to plenty of visitors every year. There's shed loads of history packed into these rooms -read the lengthy lesson at the pub's website. Now, onto my unpatriotism: Getting into the main area of Patriot's Inn is confusing to the first-timer. Maybe it's the location, maybe it's the building, but the pub's split-level drinking areas create an awkward warren of low-ceilinged and narrow rooms. And, while I love a quirky old man's pub as much as the next pint sipper, multiple entrances which enter onto completely separate areas (which cannot be reached easily from inside one to the other) does not a good drinking experience make. Also, as often as new faces must darken the doors here it certainly didn't stop the locals from staring me out of it as I looked for a seat. But I want to like this place. I'm already half convinced by the website (with promises of Karaoke nights and Darts) and it's showy, flag draped exterior. Next time you're in Kilmainham let's meet up and give this place another shot... whaddya say?

    Cajun Chicken Wrap.

We stopped in for some lunch while waiting for our tour at Kilmainham Gaol. We both ordered the Cajun Chicken Wrap, and it was only ok. There wasn't much 'cajun' about it. There was really no spice, and if I thought it was boring in sure my husband thought it was absolutely bland. The chips were pretty good though, and we liked the atmosphere. They also have wifi, but it was pretty spotty.

Lunch - some sort of pudding (?), buttered mash and peas

Stopped by here after visiting Kilmainhaim Gaol for a quick bite. The tomato soup was ok - tasted pretty good, but had some chunks in it and was a bit bland. The soda bread was tasty (first time I ever had it I believe) and the butter made the bread taste even better. Overall it wasn't a very expensive meal nor was it particularly memorable.

    Bangers and mash so good

My wife and I stopped for a bite after checking out Kilmainham Gaol. She had the vegetable soup with a hearty slice of bread, and I had the bangers and mash. My wife loved the soup perfectly spiced and you could taste the herbs. I ordered the bangers and mash, and I must say the bangers and mash were the best I've had to date. Just the right amount of gravy, the mashed potatoes were as they should be. The 3 sausages were spiced just right with a lovely hint of rosemary. Don't let the bad reviews fool you -- give this place a try, you won't regret it.

Great service. Very friend staff , they recommended the local whiskey "GREEN SPOT" if you are a whiskey drinker , make sure to get one on the rocks! A must. Amazing fish and chip burgers as well !

This is a great place, most of the staff are very friendly, the pints are poured well and are always cold.

My husband and I stopped by for dinner and I ordered a caesar salad and their fish chowder. The caesar was great but my gosh the fish chowder and accompanying brown bread rocked my socks. So, much so, that I did what I never do--I revisited this spot more than once on the same trip (so many places to explore I almost never do this!). That fish chowder is craveable. They do live music on occasion as well and so we were able to enjoy that while sipping our Guinness. The prices are reasonable and the service is friendly. They aren't as small as they look at first glance, on one of our visits, we sat upstairs which has a second dining area. Amazing! Get to it!

Had to excuse ourselves from the table multiple times to freshen drinks. The food was good. Once again, absolute star was the Buffalo Wings! Ireland? I mean what??? Perfectly cooked, sauced nicely, just spectacular! The band was playing a mix and of Irish Music and American Rock songs played to Irish tunes. Very fun and well engaged with the crowd. The restaurant itself is cozy and very warm. A great night was had by all!
