Inside Elvia checked me in while she was finishing up another client's nails and I waited on the couch. She and the owner Kay (who is so nice) helped me choose a color combo to match my inspiration pics I brought in. They worked quickly but precisely and I can honestly say this is one of the best manicures I've had in a long time because: - they were gentle with my nails - all tools looked sanitary and neat - they did an incredible job, doing a design and extensions + shape + gel under 2 hours!! - price was great Normally I listen to music during manicures but I kept my headphones out and laughed and chatted with Kay the whole time. The technician who supposedly does the colonics is unreliable and continuously having an "emergency" during booked hours. I rescheduled after initially going to my appointment early to be told 45 minutes later that the technician was nowhere even close to arriving. Okay this place gives what every woman of pedigree deserves however it is priced at a higher rate than other salons. In saying that please also remember luxury comes at a price. The prices need a modification slightly to make sense to the consumer. Paying for gel soak off on a manicure especially when it was done at the salon seems strange, five bucks is outrageous. This place is a disappointment. I came in here because I bought a Groupon and I was extremely disappointed by the way this place tries to nickel and dime people. They only allow you to book with a Groupon on limited (read off-peak) days/times and they force you to pay a deposit to reserve your appointment that they literally just pocket and keep to themselves without explaining why you are paying a fee and where the money goes. When I asked if my "deposit" that I ALREADY PAID could go toward my "Groupon Tax" that they wanted to charge me on top of the GROUPON which I had already paid plus tax and tip, they said no. I've had multiple great experiences at this salon but after my last visit I sadly will never be able to trust this place again. I went in for an acrylic removal, which I could have done for free at home, but i really wanted to ensure my nails did not get damaged so I decided to go to the salon. I was helped by the very kind receptionist who mentioned that she had no esthetician training. I figured that I'm getting a simple, quick service so no biggie. Two hours later (this takes 45 minutes at most) after endless rounds of soaking, rough and uneven scraping (you should scrape from the cuticle down) and the electric drill file - my fingers were raw and my nails were drilled down so thin i thought if she drilled one more time she would hit the skin under the nail. Knowing the current state of our world, I kept it very polite but mentioned repeatedly that this seemed like it was taking a while and that i was in pain. By the time it hit the two hour mark, the owner finally came over to assist and I told her I don't think the other girl was doing this correctly because my nails are thinner than paper and raw. She said oh wow, yeah - she then proceeded to scrape off the remaining acrylic quickly and correctly. I saw her have a word with the other girl, but I was not given so much as an apology even after the owner told me it will take at least a month for my nails to grow back properly. After paying 20 dollars for the service and tipping each girl $5 I left the salon in tears from not only the pain I was in, but knowing that my nails were ruined for the foreseeable future and I was out $30. The real cherry on top though was that in the 12 hours after I left the salon - every single one of my nails broke down to the nub, leaving my fingers bloody and in even worse pain than before. I rarely write a review for anything but this is experience was so mind blowing to me. I hope the owner can maybe train her assistants more to ensure they know how to properly do the services she has them handle, or maybe just realize that an apology goes a long way with a repeat customer. read more

tldr: amazing, absolutely stellar service, not impressed with results or cleanliness (+1 star for the service, 3 star results) Updated 3 to 4 stars: I think I was a bit harsh. A manicure is not all about the polish. At least half is actual care of your hands and that aspect was an A+. So results bumped to 3 stars. I really, really wish I could give this place five stars, but it just fell short on a couple important points. I got a spa manicure which included shaping, a clay mask, salt soak, exfoliating wash on top of the polish itself. Let's start with the positive! The owner, Kay, who was also my nail technician, is absolutely charming. They're expanding the salon to be a spa that even includes a sauna soon! (In around a month?) Kay was very careful when filing my nails, painting them and cleaning them up. Even though we ended up going past closing time, she didn't rush and took great care in shaping and painting my nails and giving them plenty of time to dry. I really like my nail shape! I liked how they had a large selection of Essie nail polish, which is my favorite brand. Kay also talked a bit about all the different kinds of nail art they do at the salon, though I did not partake. The final cuticle oil at the end was also very moisturizing and smelled great. Also, I used my Classpass points to buy the service, so it cost less than the listed $30. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. First thing: There were a lot of little bugs and flies in the store. The owner mentioned that they were because they kept the door open earlier in the day, so I'll assume this is not usually the case. Even so, I was on the lookout for bugs the entire time I was there, and that was not enjoyable. Second: The nail files were used and put back after being used on a client, aka not disposable. This is not terribly sanitary. The clippers for cutting cuticles also don't seem sanitized, they were only wiped on a towel. Overall, the nail station did not look clean either. There were also some small bubbles on my nails, but that's mostly hidden by the shimmer color I chose. Yay for that! The flaws are not too noticeable from far away with the right kind of lighting, but close up or if the nails catch the light, the job looks rushed and messy, though that's far from the truth. I might be even more disappointed at the poor result because Kay spent so much time and care on the polish. Overall, I'm hesitant to return, but I might give this place another go. I really want to support this business because I have a lot of respect for Kay, but the result quality just wasn't there this time. read more

The quality of work was great, however I would have never set foot in this salon had I known they would charge me $5 to "cut" my nails down (which she used the nail drill to file down), and $8 to "reshape" my nails to the same shape I had when I walked in. What's more, after agreeing to take the "reshape" charge off, the young lady at the front complained about doing so as the computer system would take too long to do it... I went for a regular mani pedi. Everyone was nice and my toes came out good but I guess the nail tech got tired while doing my hands because I chose a sheer color and she only did two coats. The color is completely see through and there was nothing to dry my hands with. I was seated in a chair with a weak fan and it turned off after 3 minutes or so. Just tried this place out on ClassPass and got the "spa pedicure." I should've known when I showed up for an appointment and the shop wasn't even open on time..didn't think it was a big deal though and went next door to grab a drink. As the owner was doing my big toe she dug so deep she ripped skin off and I started bleeding. She didn't even notice until I pointed it out. I was shocked at how unsanitary the tools looked and she scrubbed the bottom of the tank where you put your feet with the same tools she used to touch my feet with. Not clean at all. I immediately put rubbing alcohol on my toe and cleaned it when I got home in fear of an infection and wouldn't you know....a day later my toe is throbbing and sore. I'm fearful I got an infection from this salon and I'm going to go to the doctor. read more

This place is a joke. So the owner reached out to me and invited me back on a complimentary service, due to the unclean environment I encountered and chipping gel polish from my first visit, which was very contrary to the stellar reviews. I thought it was very generous and figured I'd give them another try considering I did like my acrylic job and could potentially be a regular at this salon. I scheduled a 10 AM appointment for Sunday per her recommendation, since it was a less busy time. I arrived a few minutes after 10 to the same scenario as my first visit--the nail tech was not there. Like deja vu, I sat and waited for a few minutes, then went and grabbed breakfast down the street to kill time. 20 Minutes later, she still hadn't arrived, but now another customer was there. I was informed that this customer would be taken first because she'd made an appointment the day before. I tried to explain that I'd made an appointment on Friday with Kirsis, but it wasn't honored. I didn't have time or energy so I just went and contacted the owner Kirsis who had originally scheduled my appointment. She apologized for the misunderstanding and assured that I'd have a 3:30 appointment for later that day. I don't live in the area. I'd actually only come all the way on this side of Brooklyn based on stellar review on Yelp. I went about my already busy day and still managed to make my way back to Bedstuy for my appointment. I did arrive at 3:40, but I had also texted the owner at 3:15 and told her I was on my way to which she did not respond. I arrived to the nail tech (apparently she's the only one) starting someone else's nails and was informed that I'd have to reschedule yet again because I was 10 min late. I think it's worth mentioning that I was only agreeing to a 3:30 appointment because my original 10 AM did not happen because the nail tech hadn't arrived up until 10:30. Still not sure what time she finally appeared as I had already left. The attempt to redeem their image was nice in theory, but that actual execution is a joke. Unfortunately, I don't have enough time or patience to run back and forth here, so I won't be returning. Since the nail tech didn't seem to understand what I was asking for I didn't want to risk destroying my nails and they only had clear and white dip color to choose from which is strange. Most salons have different colors so that was a red flag for me. I payed $65 dollars for a mani and pedi and they are chipped in less than 24 hours. The mediocre service you receive is def def not worth the overpricing at the salon. From yelp pictures the shop looks really nice but when you step into the place you can't help but notice all the dirty stained and chipped furniture. Also while you get your pedicure the nail techs place all the tools on the floor and I didn't see them sanitize or clean the foot tubs between clients. No massage, no extra care, not even undercoat on the polish (making it a nightmare to remove and left weird halo for days on my nails) It was suppose to be almost two hours but in 45 min I was in and out. So much for my pampering day. Only few slimy things inside the water which even the technician couldn't removed so for my manicure I had at one point go to wash my hand as they were everywhere on my hands. I felt I was doing a slime craft project with my preschooler kid. The place also need some serious cleaning the fan they put me under to dry my nail was loosing chunk of dust bigger then my nails. I got a very good and affordable gel manicure here. This is mainly a hair salon so nails done secondly. There might be only one nail tech and upon my first visit she left early but anyway. The nail station is set up in the back on a high bar like table. If one is petite they may need help getting up there. The nail tech was very thorough and accommodating. She kept checking her work. I have patronized this business on four occasions. This business is clean and very maintained. However, I am very dissatisfied with the lack of professionalism exhibited by the owner(Kay) and staff. Every time I schedule an appointment online with this establishment. ( always punctual)the staff is 30 minutes to an hour late servicing me. The owner and staff are so comfortable being late for a scheduled appointment. The client time means nothing to them. No matter the type of service Kay and her staff provide their always late. This business is set up to emulate the spa experience offered in the top salon in Nyc. But this company can't compare to the customer service received at the best Spas. The prices are expensive compared to other businesses offering the same services but you are paying for a spa experience not provided. The technician should never thin down the nails polishes that are tacky. The staff does basic manicures, pens apply two light coats of polish on your nail and toes. I recently 7/22/2022 asked the nail tech to please placed a heavier coat of polish on my nails so they would look brilliant. The owner Kay in front of another client told the tech not to apply a heavier coating I paid for my service 55.00 dollars and left. The next day less than 24 hours after my service my nails were already chipping. I refused to go back and patronize this business. It's only fair that I write a review. no frills salon with the sweetest bunch of ladies. got a regular mani from verne and a regular pedi from kay. they were both METICULOUS with tending to my cuticles and the shape of my nails. I don't remember the last time I got a mani/pedi as good as this, even in "fancier"/more expensive salons!!!! in total the service $37, with tip came to about $43. the only thing to keep in mind is that my mani/pedi in total took about 2 hours so clear your calendar. but they will get your shit right. read more

The nail technicians here were lovely! Definitely a great small business to support, they were super welcoming and making an appointment was super easy to do over the phone. I came in for a regular pedicure while my friend got a no-chip pedi. I was actually in the salon for over two hours which was quite a while considering I was from out of town and wanted to maximize my time a little more efficiently. Part of the reason why my pedi took so long was because the polishes that I chose were too old and just not working out since they were clumpy. This is the only reason why I am taking a star off, because of the small selection of colors and also the quality of polishes themselves. I wish that they had a bigger range of OPI shades since that's my favorite brand but they only had two racks (maybe 150 colors, tops?)
