Haven't been here in a couple of months but I needed a pedicure. Got a regular gel pedicure in a nice bright orange color. Thursday afternoon and I was able to get started on right away. They do really neat painting work. But the standard pedicure is nothing to brag over. Scrub with the pumice with a little leg/ foot massage at the end. All the techs are friendly. They still do the same shoddy work. Knowing my luck, I probably had the same person which was Susan. She was nice even though she kept tearing up my cuticles and nail beds with the drill. The builder gel was cracking and lifting at the cuticles causing hair to get stuck under them after the first week. My real nails, which had soft and hard gel over them, ended up cracking and snagging on my clothes. People must not be used to much to find this salon acceptable. Being able to do all the trendy nail work is irrelevant if the base is trash. Stick to the basics. One thing I learned a few years back was these nail salons teach each other how to do services. I've watched people stand over the person doing nails and teach them. If one person does nails horribly, they all do. The salon owners are usually the only one that knows how to do nails. read more

UPDATE!!! I have been meaning to update this review for quite some time now. Since my last review (8yrs ago) this place has changed tremendously. They have a bit of a remodel, and great selection on colors and designs. And the nail techs I have experienced have all been good and very nice. I've loved my nails each time. First time going and I was fortunate enough not to have to wait. Fiona gave me a regular pedicure and did Gel-X on my nails. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and was very impressed with her detail and precision. I had it done 2 weeks ago and it's still holding up well. I appreciate the amount of effort she spent on my cuticles, which frequently are neglected when I go other places and I usually end up having to fix when I get home. Not the case with this place! Love my girls at Pure. I've been coming here for well over a year and i would never go anywhere again. They genuinely care about your nails and the service provided is almost impossible to find in Brooklyn from my experience. The owner, Jessie is such a sweet and caring woman. She always checks the finished product to make sure her standards are met. I like to do a lot of eclectic designs, and they are always willing to give it a go, even if it's something they've never done before. My go to girl at Pure is Kelly. She's an amazing nail tech and is also super caring and funny. She speaks English really well and we have really good banter anytime i come by. We even have the same bday haha. I've recommended this place to soo many people, and most have become regulars. They are closed on Mondays FYI and even during the weekdays they can be pretty busy. The space is small but the girls work efficiently so they are able to have a higher turnover rate then places I've been with less traffic! I see a lot of newer reviews complaining about price points, which really bothers me because they have there price points listed clearly before u even get started. To justify two star reviews with a complaint regarding the price is abusing this platform. You can tell Jessie exactly what you want and Jessie will tell you a price. For the past few months even pre covid I've had no motivation to write reviews. I'm trying to regain momento by writing as it happens so here goes: I've passed by Pure Nail Salon on many occasions but never enquired within. You see I'm loyal to my nail techs and don't want the services of others. I stay away from entanglements. Hahahaha, (couldn't help myself) Covid came and everything turned to shxt so it's a "take it when you can get it" new normal for me. One of the neighbourhood accounts I follow on social media (hey @FabFulton) shouted out Pure Nail. I liked they way they had prepped the salon for reopening and made an appointment. From phone call to leaving their salon staff was on point. Extremely pleasant and kind. As of July Covid20: *Appointments are necessary. *You'll have to sign in with name and number (so they'll find your arse if needed tehehe) *Hand sanitizer provided. *Temperature checked at the door. *Staff wears masks AS WELL AS face shields AND their hair is covered! *Physical distancing being practiced via spaced out seating, glass and plastic partitions between each person whether staff or client. *Unless the salon is empty they do not encourage clients to stay longer to dry nails (for the non gel folks like me that is) *Also walk with your own slippers please. If health and safety is important to you as it should, you'll feel totally comfortable with all the precautions they've taken at PureNailSalon. I promise. My only "huh" moment was the cost of a regular pedicure.... $38!!! I've only ever paid 15-17 bucks for a REGULAR pedi so this was huge "pull up selector moment" for me. I used to go to Pure Nail yearssss ago before it became as popular as it is today. I stopped going for awhile because I moved away. I recently came back to the neighborhood and starting going again. The nail art is amazing, still, but the quality just isn't what it used to be. And things could be more sanitary. For $110 I got a gel mani with a design (the gold French with floral design), which included two small nail repairs and one gelx tip for a nail I'd completely broken. Within two days my nails were already chipping, as if the proper top coat wasn't used. Now, a week later, one of the nails she "repaired" has nearly cracked halfway to the center of my nail, the gelx tip is lifting, and nearly all of them have gel missing on the edges. My sets here used to last 3-4 weeks! Now, not even a week for over $100. With my gel pedi I spent $170. Still cash only. Pedicures here are still basic. Very little effort is made, but the price is higher than most salons. My gel pedi is holding up though, thankfully. In terms of sanitizing and cleanliness, they do sanitize tools and use bags in the pedi bowls. However, they don't require customers to wear masks. One woman came in sniffing and wiping her nose with her bare hands and they didn't ask her to wear a mask NOR did they ask her to sanitize or wash her hands before they started doing her nails. They didn't ask anyone to sanitize or wash their hands before, which is quite disgusting. I won't be back anytime soon. Tldr; The nail art here is always on point and everyone is always friendly. But the quality isn't the same, the prices are higher, it's still cash only, and things could be more sanitary. read more

Two things I learned today: 1) You're not a toddler, do not just see starsssss and not read at least 2 of the reviews. 2) Real estate in Brooklyn isn't the only thing expensive AF. My goodness, Jesus himself must've made that gel polish they use for them to wanna charge me $80 for a fill in. No ma'am, I am connected already with the lord please basic Me with this good old regular polish I ain't use in yearssss and I will change it up once I cross the island to where fill ins are decent prices with regular gel, thanks! I think I have found my new favorite nail salon! I believe they only take walk ins. It's a bit overwhelming when you first arrive as there are so many colors and designs to choose from. Lin transformed my short, gross nails into gorgeous ones with a Calgel manicure with gel-X extensions. She was careful, gentle, and took her time while being efficient. She made sure the length, shape, and polish color were to my liking. The tools used were brand new, right out of the bag, and she sterilized the gel nail brush before using it on me. Hate to leave a bad review but I must warn someone from coming here if they are interested in doing a Art design. I came in and showed them a design and asked them it they were able to do it. They replied yes but sad to say they are amateurs when it comes to a designed nail. Bubbles started and messed up on multiple nails where it had air bubbles which she thought was okay. She then was replaced by another nail tech Jesse. Both tried their best to master a design they were not ready for. I was charged $110 for this botched job, I showed my sister when I got home and she said it looked like I did my nails myself. My nails look horrible up close and this is what Im going on vacation with. This place can do a basic plain nail but designs no. My last nail salon (an upscale nail lounge closed), and I've been on the hunt ever since for a salon that is: - Friendly - Clean - Specializes in Natural Nail care - Up to date on nail trends I found all of this at Pure Nail Salon. The owner Jessie was extremely warm and welcoming! I came 30 minutes before closing and did not feel rushed at all! There was an abundance of colours and designs to choose from. I ended up doing a gel Pedi and Apres nail extensions with a design! I loved the finished product. Michelle did my pedicure. She was quick but thorough and meticulously painted my toes ( a plus). I think Coco did my nails, also very sweet. Listened to what I wanted and executed the design exactly as I envisioned. Both technicians were lovely! My only complaint this is a regular nail salon that offers the bare minimum with services. But all in all, I will be back. Beautiful gel nail art with efficient service. I originally requested marbling chrome gold on black nails but was informed that they're not able to marble chrome colors. Decided to get white marbled on black with gold glitter accents instead. Overall, I'm satisfied with the design although I feel like the nail artist allowed the white to spread all over the nail on my left index finger when it should've only been at the edge (see photos). A lot has changed in 9 years and Pure Nail has kept up with the times offering Apres, Calgel & nail designs. I decided to come back because my usual nail tech is unavailable and I needed a place that does Apres. Unfortunately one of their staff members, Bubble wasn't adequate to do the nail job I needed. After showing her pictures & even some nails they have as display for reference, Bubble lacked the creativity AND ability to place stones onto my nail. After 30 minutes, I ended up having to get only color because I was so frustrated. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice set. However, anyone that knows me knows I always have some type of design so to not have anything before my vacation is beyond annoying. I usually pay $100-120 for amazing design work (+ gel & apres) but to pay $88 for something so basic hurts my soul. The owner Jessie did come & ask to confirm if I didn't want the stones and I told her no because Bubble couldn't do it. & no other solution was provided. I'm highly disappointed. read more

Staff where masks at all time and they take your temperature as soon as you arrive. Plus there's hand sanitizer for your use as well. I love it here!!!! I live in Manhattan but will always make the trip out to this part of Brooklyn just for Pure Nail salon. They use Apres Gel X nails which are miles better than acrylics, and it's pretty rare to find reasonably priced salons that do Gel X without also requiring some kind of nail art. The acrylics spot I used to go to in West Village is now around the same price as Pure Nail Salon for worse service, nail polish options + quality, and longevity of the nails. Every time I've been here, I'm overwhelmed by all of the gel options - you can find anything here, from chrome powders to ombre glitter gel and beyond. The service is amazing, everybody is so so nice there. I try to call ahead to get a vibe-check on how busy they are for the day, but usually when I walk in I never have to wait longer than 10-15 minutes. read more

I'm so torn writing this review because the skill is there design wise; they are on trend. The ladies that work here are all so sweet and engaging however I think they overcharge here. I got a refill with powder ($35) and two designs, one one each hand ($14, because its $7 a design). I also received a gel pedicure ($35). I'm no math major but there is no reason my total should have been $150. I got solid colors on my toes and the nails that did not have the designs on them. My toes aren't smooth, there are bumps from the polish and my nails are already chipping. For the amount I spent I would expect better from that. You have pay great attention to the products that they are using. I asked for simple gel, but they also offer Calgel which is more expensive. I later realized that they proceeded to use Calgel on my toes and nails. This made my pedicure $55 and my refill $95. It's also Cash Only even though Yelp says the accept credit cards. Pretty disappointed with the quality here. I got my nails done on Sunday, and I was really excited when I left because the polish was applied very evenly. I always paint my nails white, and if not applied evenly it can look horrible. I held off on writing a review because I wanted to wait and see how long the polish lasted. I've gotten my nails done every 2-3 weeks for the last 10 years, and usually my nails can last about 3+ weeks with little to no chipping. I got my first chip the day after getting my nails done, and just a few days later my nails look disgusting. I work as a software engineer, so I'm just typing on my computer all day. I haven't cooked or cleaned, so there's absolutely NO excuse for my nails to look like this after 3-4 days. read more

Came in wanting a acrylic set but they only have gel tips which i had never heard of before but was willing to try out since it's better for your nails. I'm not sure who i had as my nail lady but she was cool for the most part. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because when i tipped her she didn't say thank you and acted like my tip wasn't good enough. I don't really appreciate that because i tipped her 10% not sure what else she wanted from me but whether i tipped or not you don't not say thank you and give me attitude. Might not come back just for that reason. I have a beauty business and you just don't show that type of attitude towards customers. My gel tips look okay. but the clear top coat is not long lasting!! I have gotten SNS powder here multiple times and it never lasts more than two weeks. Every other salon says that powder should be 3-4 weeks. They also have every single person off the street dip their nails in the same powder pot. That is highly unsanitary and can cause major infections, on top of that they only accept cash. So not only are they beating the system by not paying any fees on cards they refuse to lose a little powder by pouring it into a separate container for each customer to use. What I really don't understand is why they don't have customers at least sanitize their hands or wash before the dip to get any debris and dirt off of the nails for better hygiene and to keep the powder on longer?!!! Its s a real shame because it's the most convenient central location in the neighborhood that does designs etc but per the usual they take advantage of the community. read more

I really wanted to like this nail salon after moving in around the street and seeing some of the reviews. However, I truly CAN'T UNDERSTAND why people seem to like this place! In the last year that I've lived nearby, I've given them a chance at least half a dozen times. They get worse and worse each time. First off, their objective here is to needle as much money as they can out of you. They'll try not to confirm a price with you at the beginning of the appointment. I've had the price changed on me multiple times for the same service, within the same appointment. Your pedicure can't change from $28 to $39 in 5 minutes - absolutely ridiculous. I once got a dip manicure I was told was $80, and it ended being $130. When I questioned the price, Jessie laughed and said, "Oh no, that's just the price of the dip manicure. Design is $40." That would have been nice to know at the beginning. The pedicure is literally the most expensive I have ever gotten in my decade of living in New York City, and they do an unbelievably amateur and basic job. There isn't much attention to detail, and they leave your feet sitting on paper towels, which I've always found uncomfortable and cheap. Last, you will ALWAYS wait 20 minutes here. Guaranteed. It doesn't matter if you call ahead. It doesn't matter if you even have confirmation that there is no wait time! You will be sitting there staring at the ceiling for at least 20 minutes while the employees try to avoid eye contact with you. Seriously, save your time and money and go somewhere else. They hike their prices to the point where you'd think you're at a luxury professional salon, but this place is nowhere even close to that. read more
