They lost my ring and they don't care. My husband and I purchased matching wedding rings in 2014 from Kay. On 9/3/2023, I brought my ring in to have it inspected, re-sized, and cleaned. On 9/24/2023, Michael from the Escondido store called to tell me it was stolen. He said they would do all they could to replace it. He offered me rings that were of lesser quality but said he would keep looking for a suitable replacement. On my own, I found the same ring available at one of their affiliate stores, Zales. I spoke to Michael and his manager Brandon to let them know. They said they would try to get that ring for me. They contacted their corporate office and they refused to obtain that ring from the affiliate. I was later told by a new manager Abbie that they had found the same ring at one of their outlet stores and they were going to order it. That was weeks ago. When I called today to check up on it, Abbie said she didn't know when or if it was ordered. When I asked for her supervisor's information she refused to give it to me and then hung up on me. So here I am nearly 2 months since I took my ring in for a simple re-size and Kay still won't make it right. To make things worse, they can't even communicate properly. read more

Been coming to this location for a few years. Never really had any major problems until recently. I bought a ring a couple of years ago, purchased the warranty on it as well. Ever since, I have brought it in multiple times for cleaning and fixing, and have always been pleased with the service until today. A lady who I have never seen before named Abby offered to help me. After doing a five minute evaluation of the ring she confirmed that it needs a new stone. She told me it would be $40 for the repair. I explained in the most sincere way that I was not aware of this since I've brought it in the past and they've always fixed it without a charge. She just said it's company policy and procedure. I asked to speak to the supervisor since he's helped me in the past and she just gave me a cold look and said she's the supervisor. I don't appreciate employees who lie. You should be helpful to your loyal customers, don't give them attitude and if they need help, help them! That's how you keep them coming back. I've been a customer here since getting married in 2015. Beginning with a custom band for my wife's passed down wedding ring. We spent roughly $1200 on that. Next I purchased a wedding bad for myself for roughly $1800. This piece was also considered custom due to having it remade in 14k. Next was another custom ring for my wife when we had our first child. Roughly another $1200. Each of these rings comes with their own set of complications, which has led me to this 1 star review. Let me start with this; I'm probably not the biggest spender here, but we've spent a considerable amount of money. With each one of these purchases I asked for, and paid for a warranty. About 2 months ago, when a newer set of employees had to replace the crooked ones before them, I learned that I was charged for warranties, but didn't pay for a warranty if that makes sense. It doesn't I know.... I was charged for a warranty, but it wasn't rung up as a warranty. I learned this from a kind woman who then assured me she would straighten it out for me.... I'll get back to this. In that same visit I was picking out birthday firsts for my mom and my sister. I found a nice little turtle necklace for $150 roughly. However upon close inspection I noticed it was rusted in a crevice by the hind leg of the turtle. They immediately washed it and then said they would order me a new one. Even after washing it was still noticeable. It was at this point that they assured me the warranty situation would be resolved, and the new turtle would be there. Fast forward a few weeks. I go back to check on the warranties, and purchase the turtle. One young man who was there the previous time was there helping someone else. Another young man came to help me. He kindly showed me the turtle and I asked him to inspect it under the camera. He was trying to sell me that same rusted turtle, trying to pass it off as it seemed as though they just tried to clean and re sell it. Really?! You actually put it back on the shelf to sell to someone? Then try to sell it to me of all people?? Next, I had him check to make sure my rings were all issued a warranty..... He said NONE of my rings show u have purchased a warranty. Not one.... Here's another experience. Walking in to look at something nice for my wife, one of the ladies asked if we wanted to try on a very nice and expensive ring just to show it off. My wife agreed. They then asked if we would purchase the ring, but then return it in a few weeks. This way we could enjoy a nice ring and then they could hit their quota.... we should've never come back after that visit and no we didn't accept their offer. Horrible service! I came in to pick up my ring because I had received a call letting me know my ring had arrived from cleaning. When I arrived at the store, I was told that it would be a 30 minute wait. As you can see from the picture, they were not busy. I hung around and long story short, an hour later I approached the staff to ask when they'd be calling me. I was ignored, so I spoke up and all the manager said was that he didn't realize it had been an hour already. It's absolutely ridiculous to claim that they're busy, when I clearly hung around for an hour and watched them pretend to be busy on the phone, computer, or disinfecting. If they're that busy, then they should have more than 2 people working on Saturdays. Very disappointed to wait around for an hour to pick up my ring which only took 2 minutes! Than, a year later she followed up/ reached out... with a diamond sale and through creative financing showed us how we could upgrade my center stone. Completely dissatisfied. Each visit took forever during my entire encounter. I swear each employee is trained to rip you off. Which is evident to me after having to deal with the manager, Angela. I had to come back after the ring purchase I made bc I found the exact product on their website for $200 less!!! The 200 is even after I used a coupon I received from a purchase made earlier that month. I came back to exchange the ring, which they did, but they did not honor my coupon. If you are even the slightest bit unhappy with your purchase, return it! DO NOT exchange it. This is how they get you. It basically wipes the ability to return a product (it doesn't, but they refused to take my return). Because they did an exchange and not a return, they would not honor the coupon from the original purchase. Even though they said it was applied. I had so many problems with this particular store bc of the manager. I have a degree in Applied physics and I am currently working on my doctorate. I am used to working with very smart and sophisticated people. When I shop, I do not dress up (bc I end up spending more money lol). The manager took one look at me and basically decided I wasn't worth her time. While trying to return the product she was rude and straight up lied to me. I got mad and called her out on it. After that, she refused to help me and started to make degrading comments to me based on my appearance. I am shocked that this woman is a manager. She is completely incapable of controlling her emotions and aggravated the situation. This woman just lost so much business, and generations worth bc I have a huge family and friends in high places. I drove all the way to fashion valley to make my return. The manager there is so sweet. He made a huge effort to fix my problem and I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant visit. I will post more about it on that stores Yelp page. Avoid the Escondido store at all costs. This company could be one worth purchasing from, as long as you don't have to deal with the snakes that work at this location. It may help to call customer service (CS) before shopping so that you know how to get an interest free (for 12 months) credit purchase. This would be a 1 star review, except for the fact that in the end, the manager did her best to solve our problems. We will not be shopping at Kay again. In mid-January, we went in to purchase a wedding band for my fiancé. We were told it would be ready in 4-6 weeks, great timing for our late-March wedding. The woman we worked with (can't remember her name, but today we found out she doesn't work there anymore) was not the best to work with. She did a great job finding the ring we wanted, but then an awful job writing it down. She apparently recorded the wrong information about our ring. In early March, we called to see where the ring was. We had heard nothing from them. An assistant manager tells us the ring was backordered and not ready yet! Nobody had called to tell us this. She guarantees it will be ready Thursday or Friday, then it doesn't get in till Saturday. This would be fine, except it was the WRONG RING. Now we're a week out from our wedding and will have to use the wrong ring for our ceremony and honeymoon. The manager listened as we told her what happened. She told us there was not enough time to get the correct ring before our wedding, but that we can come back afterwards and fix it. So at that point, my husband will have to go without a ring for a few weeks while they fix their own mistake. And he'll have to wear the wrong ring (one I actually strongly dislike) for our wedding photos. Hopefully this location will do better without that irresponsible associate. My fiancé bought my engagement ring here in December 2020. After he proposed we dropped the ring off on December 26 of 2020 to get sized. It took 3 1/2 weeks just to get it sized. When my fiancé went to go pick up my ring he noticed that in the process of getting sized a diamond fell out. But the person who supposedly inspected the ring and declared it ready for pick up said that's not possible and then when he noticed that the ring had a missing diamond they sent it back and pushed it to have it back with a replacement diamond within three days. It was ready on January 13 and when I went to go pick it up the ring was fine. Now, on the 14th, ONE day after it being picked up another diamond is missing. if the return window had not already lapsed, We would've gotten a refund and taking our business elsewhere read more

Honestly, the extra star is because so far I have been treated well by the staff, but I feel like my rings are being held hostage. My husband and I purchased two wedding bands that I wanted made into a wrap for my engagement ring to fit into. I took it to Kay on 6/30/18. Granted it was a Saturday. I spoke to, I believe, Teresa (I am very sure I'm spelling it wrong), who told me my rings would be ready in 7-10 business days. The price was incredibly right so I went for it. I called on the 10th business day, and was told it would not be ready until 7/13/18. Okay, that sucks, but it's fine, at least I have a day. Teresea called me on 7/11/18 to ask me if I could drop my engagement ring off so they could size my band around the ring. My first initial thought was, why didn't they contact me about that much much sooner than 2 days before it was ready to be picked up? My second thought was, now they want both my wedding band and my engagement ring and I'm going to be without it. But I was promised on the phone they'd both be back by Friday, as originally planned. I went in to drop off the engagement ring and now I'm being told it MIGHT be ready by Monday. Uhm, excuse me? Why wasn't I contacted for this earlier, and now I have no rings at all. I should have read the reviews for this place before I dropped my rings off, because I have a sinking feeling that I won't see them again for a very long time. Update: I did receive them on Saturday the 14th, so I do believe they did a better job rushing then I originally was expecting. I bought a ring here about 2 years ago, and I got a really great deal on it. It's a simple ring with about 10 diamonds in a fine line going across the top. When I purchased it, the gentleman who helped me size the ring correctly and then offered me a warranty on the ring just in case I ever needed to bring the ring back. Over the period of owning the ring, I notices that a little diamond had fallen out. I went to the location where I bought it and had them see if there was anything that they could do with it. I brought the ring back a few days before Christmas, and had them take it in. After about being ignored for about 20 minutes, the gentleman finally came back and said, "Is there anything else you need?" I asked him, "Well, is the ring going to get fixed and if so, when can I pick it up?" The guy said to me, "Yea, we can do it, and it will be ready in 3 weeks." SERIOUSLY!!!! 3 WEEKS TO PUT IN A SMALL TINY DIAMOND!?!!!?!?! Anyways, I expected this professional place to call me when my ring was ready and I could come to pick it up, but I got nothing at all. I finally had to call in and ask if my ring was there, and they put me on hold for about 5-8 minutes before I heard anything from the people. When I went in yesterday to pick it up, the lady who helped me was so stuck up and had a straight face and didn't smile at all. I'm ok with that but when I went in they told they would send it to the right place 3 weeks later no phone call no nothing. So I went in to figure it out. Apparently I could of been told I purchased the warranty by the old manager but not really purchased it? After hearing the salesperson and manager go on about how they would definitely have all the records on their system but somehow couldn't see that I had already used that warranty to get my ring resized at another location a couple years back. Then hearing the salesperson say " oh but sometimes our system deletes random things". I decided to take my rings back and go to a different location, where guess what they did found my warranty. ****READ THIS BEFORE BUYING*** I first went in to purchase an engagement ring for my now fiancé. I must say the sales associate was very friendly and I loved the ring but it was all downhill after this first visit. I was going to pay for the ring on one of my credit cards but the associated push for me to do interest free financing. I agreed got the ring and went on my way after some paperwork. The associate informed me I would receive a bill in the mail when my payments were due. I did not receive a statement in the mail but about a month and a half later I did receive a call from cooperate stating I was late on my payment. I gladly agreed to make a payment over the phone and confirmed with this individual that the associate had input my address incorrectly and he updated it, no big deal. I didn't receive a statement for that month either but just continued making payments. On what I believe was my 4th or 5th billing cycle, I finally received a detailed statement in the mail and to my surprise it included over $200 dollars in interest. I thought they must have messed something up so no big deal I would just resolve at the store. I went back the store to resolve this issue as I had been signed up for an interest free plan and should not be accruing interest. I asked to speak to a manager but was denied and told they could do nothing for me at the store and I would have to call their customer service to change or resolve anything. I called customer service the next day and the individual on the phone was not helpful at all. She stated that she was only working a half day and would not be able to help me that day. She said she would call me back the next day to help resolve the situation. Two days later I called back in as she had not called me back. This time I requested again to speak to a manager but was denied by the custom service representative. After explaining the whole situation again. I informed her that I was signed up for regular financing by the associate who promised interest free financing. I let her know that I intended on paying initially on my credit card which has a lowing interest rate than what they put me on for their financing but because the associate pushed for the interest free financing I opted for that but apparently never received it. I let her know that I did not want to pay the interest that had accrued because of an error on their part. She offered to remove 2 months of the 4 months of interest that accrued. When I again informed her that I did not want to pay any of the interest that accrued because of their error and I was not aware of until months later again due to their error she told me that I would have to dispute it further with the store location. I went back into the store again requesting to speak with a manager but again was denied. The associate was very kind this time but still only offered to switch me over to the interest free and remove 2 months of interest. I switched over but am still stuck paying over $100 in interest they I should not have accrued and wasted multiple days trying to fight this. I have never received such poor customer service and on top of it had to pay extra money due to the company's mistakes. We had planned on purchasing our wedding bands and other jewelry there but will definitely be going elsewhere. I recommend you do business elsewhere and have the right mind to spread this word outside the store location near Valentine 's Day just to prevent others from going through the ordeal I have. read more

Richelle and John were immensely helpful in getting my wedding band. My fiancé bought my engagement ring at Costco and it's similar to the "Ever Us" design from Kay Jewelers. Because it's the Costco version of the ring, finding a wedding band that fit was a nightmare. We tried them because we figured going to the original design would be the closest we could get and they worked with us trying on multiple wedding bands until we found one that was the closest to matching we'd found. The wedding was about two weeks out (on the 28th) and they told us after sizing it'd be ready by the 24th, but they'd try their best to get it done by the 21st. This stupid ass place messed up my wedding ring 6 times. The craftsmanship led to people getting in big trouble and a senior jeweler having to take over. It was so freaking bad. The story would take way to long to tell but they were suppose to have it sized. First trip in was to make it a few sizes larger. It came back 4 sizes SMALLER they sent it back each time waiting for 2 weeks for my ring to come in only to drive to this hellish mall for it to be wrong yet again!
