Holy cow I underestimated the power of floral arrangements! Kay can transform the statement "stick your arm out the window while driving on the freeway and grab all the wildflowers" to lovely, well thought out bouquets, boutonnieres and an overall wedding theme. While we did DIY a few parts of our centerpieces, she added the final pieces to make it all come together. And, she saved the day with our chuppah when our cloth wasn't large enough to cover the 4-posts. Her work included 7 bridal party bouquets, corsages, florals for my outdoor ceremony and chuppa, as well as centerpieces for my indoor cocktail reception and elaborate floral decorations on the cake. It was a pleasure to work with Kay at every step of the way. In our initial meeting, I explained my preferences and goals for the event. She listened enthusiastically, asked questions and offered valuable tips. She was very knowledgeable about seasonal availability. She suggested ways to lower the budget and respect the environment by using locally grown flowers rather than imported flowers. With the information she gathered from me, she prepared a detailed quote with line-itemized pricing, so I was able to see how they budget would be allocated. That allowed me to prioritize and make a few changes to the scope before signing a contract. I got quotes from 3 local florists, and Kay's pricing was very competitive. I enjoyed searching for vases and floral examples myself, and Kay was very willing to let me participate in the planning. She quickly responded to each of my questions or fantasies, and did a wonderful job merging my vision with her expertise. Not all florists would have appreciated my participation, but Kay was both enthusiastic and collaborative. She handled the day-of set up punctually and flawlessly. All of the florals surpassed even my high expectations. When a few candle holders were not delivered by the rental company, she improvised a great looking solution, and didn't lose any time or mention any snags to me or my wedding party. Everything was perfect in my mind. I felt that my budget was well spent, my vision was well executed, and it was a great decision to work with Kay. A long overdue review for Kay Wolff! When our original florist had to back out due to a conflict with our revised wedding plans (changed dates & venues because of Covid), she connected us with Kay. Kay immediately jumped into action to make sure she understood our vision and executed it flawlessly! Her communication and professionalism was top notch and her prices were very fair. We had limited time to make this happen so she could only work off of photographs of the venue to plan everything, yet she absolutely blew us away with her presentation. Every guest raved about our chuppah and it photographed beautifully. I am delighted to write this long overdue review for Kay, who was our floral designer for our wedding on July 25, 2015. Our flowers were absolutely stunning! We had a ceremony in a small church in Piedmont and the reception at the Claremont Hotel in Berkeley. Kay designed everything, from my bridal bouquet to the gorgeous centerpieces to the simple and elegant flowers that hung on the church pews. Kay has been a floral designer for decades and her work and professionalism show it. She was so great about helping me figure out my likes and dislikes (since I am not very knowledgeable about flowers in general), and came up with such unique ideas. She was also upfront and precise about her prices, she advised about which flowers were more or less expensive, and as a result there were no surprises. Because we had an indoor ballroom reception, the floral design was very important to me so that we could bring freshness and life to the room. Kay's flowers and turned our ballroom into a truly stunning vision. She used hops, greenery, and wild flowers to create a beautiful dream that complemented our day perfectly. We were so appreciative to Kay for sitting down with us before we signed the contract. She was so wonderful to communicate with. She even helped us save some money by repurposing our chuppah greenery and using it to decorate our sweetheart table. My husband and I just got married last weekend and this is my first Yelp review ever that I insisted on writing two days after our honeymoon, because I am so so happy with our choice of florist. Kay has been so personable and helpful throughout the design, planning, and production process. Unlike many other florists we interviewed with, she was happy to meet with us in person a number of times to discuss our design ideas and to share her suggestions. She really worked with our many vision ideas and helped to streamline them into a beautiful floral vision that worked with our venue and our budget. She was extremely accommodating to our budget, making sure she could bring a number of extra design elements that we wanted to life without going over our budget (and in fact coming in under it). When we first met Kay, I left her studio (located in her gorgeous home, which gives you a great sense of her good taste) and said to my then-fiancee, "I am so happy we're getting married"--and that is how I felt every time we interacted with her. She is truly happy to share in your day and to make it really special. She personally makes sure everything comes to life and all details are taken care of on the day of and is just very generous with her time and skill. She is a consummate professional while still being incredibly warm and personable. She is very responsive to email, phone, and in person communications, and will let you interact as much or as little in the design process as you like. If you are looking for a florist who will really consult with you and has a very natural style (not as architectural or modernist as some we met, but that was also not what we were looking for), Kay is perfect. This is long overdue, as my wedding was in April of 2011 (over a year ago!). However, even though it is so late, I thought it's better late than never to write this review. Kay was awesome in providing flowers for our wedding. She was so patient, thoughtful, and responsive to all of our emails and phone calls. We were planning our wedding from the East Coast, so most of our interactions occurred over email. Her prices were very reasonable, and best of all, she was not pushy at all when we said we didn't want boutonnieres for the men (my husband thought it was too girly to wear flowers!), and when we wanted only ~6 small cocktail-area centerpieces (as opposed to having floral centerpieces throughout the whole reception and at every table). Even despite our sort of "minimalist" wedding floral arrangements, she was still happy to drive over an hour from north Berkeley to Saratoga, CA to deliver and set up. I don't know anything about flowers, but when I finally did get to meet with Kay about 3 months before our wedding, she wanted to get more details about what I was thinking of for which flowers to use. Since I really had no idea, she brought out a bunch of albums, and I went through and said what I liked and didn't like about bouquets and arrangements. Kay showed even more of her expertise when I actually changed my wedding colors based on some ideas she had for bouquets. We had brought a swatch of the bridesmaids dresses, and originally we were planning on teal and red for our colors. However, when I saw a photo of blue and coral flowers she had done, I suddenly wanted to go with coral as our secondary color. A quick decision was made, and Kay was happy to change all of her notes that we had made thus far and switch everything to blues and corals, rather than blues and reds. I almost felt like I didn't leave with giving her enough information, and wasn't sure about what I would see on the day of. But I felt so comfortable with her expertise that I just forced myself to let go and trust her. I'm so glad I did! I sort of "forgot" about the flowers, and when the day arrived and I saw the bouquets and ceremony altar decorations, I was COMPLETELY happy with everything I saw. From the bridesmaids bouquets, to my own, to the flower she got me last-minute to put in my hair, and to the garlands that hung from the tree behind where we were having our ceremony - I loved every part of it. With just a few photos she create beautiful bouquets and table settings that were exactly as I had envisioned. What can I say? Kay is THE best florist/floral designer that I have ever worked with. I had met with 3 people prior to meeting with Kay and I definitely saved the best for last. I contacted her for my wedding for May 31st, 2015 and she was available for that day so we went ahead with setting up a consultation. I brought pictures with me to give her an idea of what I liked and examples of things I didn't like. I let her know my theme was nautical and my colors were navy blue and white with some accents of silver. Upon meeting her I instantly knew she was going to be the one I picked no matter the cost. She was so sweet, friendly, professional, easy going, relaxed, kind, and patient. I gave her my ideas of using mason jars of different sizes and colors as an option for my centerpieces and threw out the idea to allow me to do some of the work as a DIY project to cut cost a little bit and she was all for it! I was able to put together mason jars with brown twine and seashells with led tea light candles on the bottom filled with different colored glass rocks I also tinted quart mason jars green because they were gifted to me by a family friend because they said Mom's Masonry on them and thought it would be a great way to remember my mom at the wedding so I was able to incorporate them into the centerpieces. She listened to what I had envisioned and made sure to take notes on specifics. I was able to drop off the supplies I bought for her to use along with the mason jars a few days prior to the wedding so she could work on creating her magic. The flowers that I picked out were so lovely and vibrant. She did flowers for the guest tables, my bouquet, 4 bridesmaids bouquets, and a few other little odds and ends. I instantly fell in love with the flowers when I saw them on the day of my wedding. They were breath taking and she truly did an amazing job following what I wanted and put in extra time to help set up the venue. She even had seashells added to the bouquet that she had left over from a previous event! On the day of my wedding I was over an hour late because of a mishap with my makeup artist and I was visibly upset, Kay came over and gave me a big hug and told me I looked beautiful and that everything was going to be okay. She was amazing and I highly recommend her services. To this day I still have guests raving about how beautiful the arrangements were and how beautiful the flowers were. I chose succulents as part of the bouquets and I'm so glad that I did, I'll have them for a lifetime to remember my special day.
