Fortunately, my family of 3 were the only people in our time slot so it was a nice pleasant ride with a gal who's led horseback tours for many years. Since it was my daughter's first time doing this, I was overjoyed when they told us they WOULD NOT TROT their horses. It's a simple, nice and easy walk through the golf course. They said that insurance regulations don't allow for trotting, or something along those lines. Why 3 stars and not 5? Staying at Skytop, you're a fairly captive audience, and they charge you dearly for your ride. We researched pricing at other horseback riding places within about 30 to 40 minutes driving, independently owned, and they were about 25% cheaper or better. The day we checked out of Skytop, we actually decided to try horseback riding again, since my daughter had a good experience at the Lodge. We chose Sugar Mountain Carriages in Bushkill, PA. It was a good deal less expensive than Skytop, though their facilities seemed just as good as at the Lodge, and the horses as well. It was a much longer tour with the horses than we had at Skytop, and they would let the horses trot for bursts of about 10 - 30 seconds or so. We were fine with it, as it was now my daughter's 2nd time riding. At Skytop, we had one guide with us, and she was leading the pack from the front and had good control of the group. At Sugar Mountain, we had the owner up front, and an assistant of hers trailing us in the back. That was a good thing, as I was on a horse that liked to take "shortcuts", following the horse in front of it, but sometimes not following its exact footsteps, which can be risky for the rider if it decides to go under a low hanging branch or something. All in all, I suppose every place will have its pros and cons, but I feel that there's much better value to be had if you're willing to leave Skytop Lodge and go riding at an independently owned stable. Just be sure to check their reviews on Yelp.com! That's how I found Sugar Mountain.

We called ahead and made the appointment for 3pm and were asked to reach 30 min early for paperwork (waivers, etc). We reached in time to complete the forms and then took the resort shuttle to the stables (3min drive). We were given instructions, tips and do's and dont's for a couple of min after which we started off in a group of 6, led by carl. We went around the golf course for about 40 min before one of the horses decided to 'head home' on its own. It was hilarious for the rest but a bit scary for the person on that horse. We had to cut our 1 hr ride short as carl went after the stray and we all followed them back to the stables. He quickly unmounted everyone and tied up the horses in their spots. Looks like the horses are trained to follow each other in a queue (we hardly did any maneuvering) but sometimes they want to do what they feel like :). Overall a pleasant experience, would recommend it.

The instructor is condescending, rude, and disrespectful. Definitely not a business I would continue to help fund.

Our guide was professional, knowledgeable, and supportive- he talked a couple of us through some of the harder obstacles. We took the full two hours after the training and completed 5 courses. Our favorites were the ZipQuest (9 ziplines) and the Blue level course, which is the second hardest. The Blue course was challenging even for the college athlete of the group- definitely takes some athleticism and ability to be calm under pressure. If that's not your jam, I would still recommend. The three easier obstacle courses and the ZipQuest course were still very fun and would be a good challenge for families with younger kids. Minimum age was 7 with a 50-250lb weight range. My first (and so far only whoa) time white water rafting and it was so exhilarating and cool. Alvin did fall out at one point which was a bit scary. But he made it back inside, and rest of us stayed in the raft going through the intense rapids with water spraying everywhere and beautiful scenery around.

This was a pretty last minute, somewhat impromptu day trip. Our friends invited us along, to help celebrate their daughter graduating and going off to college. It would be the first time rafting for my fnsily, but our friends had done previously with other friends and acquaintances. We arrived earlier than our time slot. I would suggest opting for the earliest outing you can, so that you have time to stop along the route. We started later than expected and we're rushing to get to the end, so we weren't able to chill and relax, and take our time heading down. There's also a place to eat and an animal exhibit in the same area. You can hang out and do some stuff before or after your water sport. You're able to bring your own vests, however for children, they MUST be US Coast guard approved. Honestly, adult of child, you should just be safe and ensure you have the right gear. Many of their vests were pretty new but I'd prefer to carry my own. We paid, got our wristbands, and the staff explained what we would be doing. We drove a little bit away, to Smithfield Beach, where they have picnic areas and access to the water. They have bathrooms, changing rooms and showers. All of the bathrooms in the early part of the day are great but by dusk, they get dank and gross. They really should gave someone clean them mid-day. We had to pay for parking in the beach lot, which was about $10. We walked down to another area where a guy explained to us how to navigate the river. He told us what to expect in terms of water height and expressed that we must ale3havr access to our vests in case water patrol stopped us. It seemed daunting at first but once we were out on the water, it was all good. We hopped in a van, which drove us to where we get our rafts. Oncr we got into our rafts, we were good to go. Our raft had to be switched out for antiehr because hubby noticed water bubbling at his feet, which meant there was a hole, so please make sure you inspect your craft before you head out. Paddling was difficult because we were three in a raft and we couldn't get the rhythm. This is definitely a workout. Everyone had to work together or you're all just making more work for each other. I would suggest at least four strong paddlers to a raft. If only two or three, you should definitely focus on working together. For the majority of the trip, the water was only knee or waist deep. There are lots of plant life in the water, making it difficult to paddle through. The entire trip straight should take 3-4 hours. We stopped at some of the "islands" to have lunch, drink, and just rest. We saw people off to the side camping, swimming, and having a good time. I'm convinced some of those people didn't make it back in time. That was not about to be us. We kept it moving, paddling and taking pictures, and enjoying the beauty of the nature surrounding us. It was amazing and the water was sooo clear. We got to see the beginnings of the sun setting and made it back just in time before it got too dark. We were driven back to Smithfield Beach, dried off and changed in the bathrooms, and headed home. The drive was about two hours each way and by the end of the night, we were exhausted. It was a fun trip and I'd love to do it again but I would probably prefer staying nearby at the Wyndham cabins or a campsite.

Upon arrival at our appointed time, we were greeted warmly, and our reservation was promptly found. The staff was eager to help us, and we were able to pick up some bug spray and protective gear for our belongings, which was great since we hadn't come prepared for that. Every person we interacted with inside their shop was very helpful. They ensured we found life preservers that fit us perfectly and provided detailed instructions along with a QR code to access a map. Finding the parking site within the National Park was easy, though we had to pay a $10 fee, which was reasonable. The park was full, so we were glad to be part of the Adventure Sports group, as they were turning everyone else away. The staff promptly met us at our car, loaded us into the van with other customers, and took us to Bushkill, where they unloaded our boats and ensured we were all set to go. They even offered to help us launch the boats. We received a set of safety instructions, and Lucas, who gave the briefing, did an excellent job. He was personable, friendly, and provided helpful tips on what to watch out for and avoid. All the staff involved in shuttling and getting the boats in and out of the water were great. Our time on the Delaware Water Gap was fantastic. We did the 10-mile trip, which took about four hours, including a couple of stops along the way based on their provided information. This was a fantastic experience as part of my daughter's birthday excursion in the Poconos. We are super glad we chose this outfit and highly recommend them for their professionalism, friendliness, high-quality gear, and detailed, helpful instructions. Every staff member was super nice and helpful, making for a memorable experience. Very affordable for what they provide, quality gear and shuttled right to the launch and waiting in the other end to collect everything and help the customers. Highly recommend Adventure Sports!

Definitely enjoyed the zip lining better but still suggestion on both sides as it is pretty quick if you were just doing the one. When you arrive the staff helps you in getting set up with the harness, explaining how to navigate the clips and explaining the different colors which represent difficulty levels, similar to ski slopes. There is a little bit of a walk from the parking lot up to the main area and porta potty's on the way so just something to keep in mind. There is also a tent area and tables if you bring your own lunch to have a picnic up top. Depending on the time of year, dress according to higher elevation and cooler temp inside the woods. Interested to go back and try a nighttime ropes course as it looks pretty neat .
