Today, I had the sad task of bringing Mom's dog in to be put to sleep. This was a difficult decision for the family, but the right decision. The veterinary tech that helped me process the paperwork and prepped Poppins was outstanding. She held this little dog with so much love and care during the entire procedure. Thank you for being so remarkably kind. (I didn't hold Poppins myself because sometimes the dog has mixed feelings about me. She is definitely mom's dog.) The vet was also incredibly kind and gentle. He was familiar with our case, and gave Poppins excellent care. Thank you. I am sorry that this sad work is put upon the same good people that give so much to care for everyone's pets. This clinic has delivered excellent service at every visit over the years. We are so very grateful to have Strothertowne for Poppins. Thank you for being exceptional and kind.

He has always been so friendly and knowledgeable about our pets, taking great care of them during there life. We had to recently put our 13 year old mini aussi down and it was our daughters dog. Dr Voris has know our daughter since she was a child. He was so accommodating for us knowing how difficult is was going to be for her. We have had animals put down before but this one was special and he made as easy for us as possible. You don't find that kind of compassion very often but we did and he is one in a million!! I knew she was in the best hands and they would not offer a service, unless they knew it could help her. They also gave me the choice on what procedures, testing, treatments that I wanted to do for her, while giving me great education. It is very cost effective treatments, when some vets can take advantage and require very costly bills. Staff would always make her feel so loved and say how excited they were to see her. She needed emergency care after a very long procedure, removing her eye and all of her teeth, at 17 years old. They called the next day, as she was hospitalized elsewhere, checking in on her. Last week, Bella and I said our final goodbye with the staff at Vetco. They were so kind and compassionate, making it the smoothest and most peaceful that you could hope for. Thank you Vetco for taking care of my sweet Bella, and me.

On our seven year old Shih Tsu, "Callie's birthday, the groomer at Crysler Animal Hospital discovered swollen lymph nodes. The clinic there did some blood tests and forwarded a sample to the KU Veterinary School for analysis. KU definitively affirmed lymphoma and suspected a possible cancer present. Dr. Erica Nowlin at Crysler suggested further testing at BluePearl Pet Hospital as they are an oncology hospital and would be able to confirm cancer. We easily booked an appointment and Callie was seen by Dr. Heather Heeb on Thursday 5/28/26. We were impressed with the thoroughness of the examination and testing results. We were offered a plethora of treatment options. But we came away with the realization, Callie will succumb to this disease. On Friday 5/29/26, we made two phone calls to BluePearl, leaving two voice mail messages. Neither were acknowledged nor did we receive a callback. On Monday 6/1/26 7:20 a.m. we called and again left a voicemail at the tone requesting an Rx for prednisone which Dr. Heeb had suggested for comfort. Due to the unresponsiveness we experienced, we called the Crysler Hospital at 7:24 to expedite meds, as it was obvious that Callie was in discomfort. By 8:15, Dr. Jay Schweizer called to alert us that Callie's meds were ready for pick up. Thanks so much to the caring, attentive team at Crysler for great COMMUNICATION. Below is a screenshot of the text message received from BluePearl. I would recommend an improvement in communication from the team at BluePearl regarding aftercare.

Not only did he do an excellent job with the surgery, but he also discovered a mass in the back of her mouth that had gone unnoticed. Since then, Dr. Callicott has been incredible. He has guided me through every step of the treatment process after the mass was confirmed to be cancerous. He has taken the time to answer all of my questions with patience and compassion, helping me understand our options and making a very difficult situation much easier to navigate. I am truly grateful for his expertise, thoroughness, and genuine care for both my dog and my family. I couldn't recommend Dr. Callicott more highly.

Overall I was pleased with the staff and thought my dogs were treated well. I still had a regular vet that I preferred elsewhere but it had become increasingly harder to get in to see him. A blood test was ran to check numbers and as suspected it was time. I let them take her I though to prepare her for the injection and instead they brought me my baby girl back to the room already deceased. The injection had been done out of my sight. This is not how this should have gone down. I was devastated but kept my cool. Payment was made for arrangements and I left. I still every time I drive by this vet think of that day and what was taken from my sweet girl and myself. The chance for me to give her a proper goodbye and hold her as she passed.
