I googled for electrolysis locations in the city & came across KB. I called & she gave me an appt the same day. I went over , filled out paper work and then she gave me info on how electrolysis works. Which is a plus. But she forgot to mention she's cash or check only. (If you charge such high rates you should take credit) that's a big negative it's very inconvenient for a business in this day and age. Also she is pretty slow compared to another place I just went too. She told me she needed 15 more mins to cover the areas (chin / jaw bone area) and then the worst part .... The post treatment was nothing but witch hazel! Let me tell you from experience & knowledge that after getting laser or electrolysis one needs to have appropriate after care. She has no ice (to close pores) and no aloe Vera (to calm the skin) she just let's you walk out and what happens I get like tiny tiny white (puss filled) pimples in ever pore she took a hair out of. It was awful omg I was popping them all week. It's not right, to open the pores & not close them back up esp in nyc's pollution. I would say if you're close and have open money to spend it's fine if you're on a budget there are MUCH better places that are also cheaper. Dropped her and on to the next one :) read more

Before visiting Kathy, I had been to a total of 4 electrologists in the area over an extended period of time. My last electrologist (in Queens) came highly recommended, but after 18 months I was seeing a lot of regrowth without the hair reduction that I was hoping for. On the recommendation of a friend, I visited Kathy at KB Electrolysis. Since starting with Kathy, most of the treated hairs have been eliminated. She is very personable and has great insertions with her machine. Even though Kathy uses the same machine as my previous electrologist, I now experience significantly less regrowth and no scabbing between appointments. Being a grad student, I initially hesitated to visit Kathy because her prices were more than what I was used to. However, I'm seeing significantly less hair than ever before. I honestly wish I had switched to this place sooner because Kathy's treatments work better and are therefore so much more cost effective in the long run. Her place was nice however I found her to be less than pleasant. Electrolysis is a very personal experience. During such an intimate process it is not comfortable to be around someone that has a pretentious attitude. A little empathy goes a long way. After going back and reading the reviews, it seems as though they were written by people she asked, not out of their own volition. I started going to Kathy in late May for electrolysis on my neck due to PCOS. It'll never be painless but she does a great job at speeding the process along as painlessly as possible. I asked for a sample electrolysis during my consultation and decided I could handle the pain. I met with her generally 2 times a week for 45 min to a hour and I switched to 1hr every 2 or 3 weeks. Kathy has changed my life and is absolutely AMAZING AND TALENTED in hair removal! I was very nervous to start electrolysis after hearing horror stories of people getting burned and having scars. I went to a consultation with someone before Kathy who was not exactly with the program and was very aggressive. I decided to meet with Kathy after reading her reviews, and my consultation with her was so educational and comforting. I expressed my concerns and curiosity of the process and she brought out a big poster with diagrams as she explained how electrolysis works in addition to the hair growth process. She is extremely knowledgeable and trustworthy. I have been seeing Kathy for over a year now and I always look forward to going. Her treatment methods are so gentle and careful. She is also very accommodating when she notices that the treatment is becoming uncomfortable, and will try different variables that allow the treatment to continue but also make it as comfortable as possible. Kathy knows quite a bit about pain management, and explained to me that at different points in my cycle the electrolysis will feel different, and the pain will also be different based on where the electrolysis is taking place. At the end of the appointment, she gives ice, neosporin, and witch hazel to calm the skin and help the healing process - and even told me how to care for my skin after the appointment to prevent breakouts. Kathy also provided me with information on numbing cream that I can get from my dermatologist, and also requires that moles are approved for treatment by a dermatologist before she will treat them. Bottom line: Kathy really does care about your skin and health, and wants this to be a positive experience for you. There are no surprises, as she tells you everything you need to know up front. She is very personable and actually makes the appointment fun and relaxing with her lovely conversation and positive attitude. I decided to try KB Electrolysis for treatment on my underarms. I had a short complimentary consultation during which Kathy examined my underarms, explained the growth cycle of hair follicles, described what happens during electrolysis treatment and also discussed the different pricing options. She came across as knowledgeable and competent. Shortly thereafter, I set up a 60-minute initial appointment. When I arrived, I was promptly called into the room and Kathy began treatment. Perhaps my tolerance is low, but I found the process to be very painful. After no more than 7 stings, I decided this wasn't for me. I told Kathy that I would pay for the work she had done, but that I didn't want to proceed. When I asked how much, she told me "$50 is the minimum". I was very surprised since I had been on the table for fewer than 10 minutes, and Kathy was adjusting frequency for half of that time. When I expressed my surprise, she stated "Well I could charge you for the full hour". I feel that this comment alone makes me not recommend her services. For anyone on the fence about trying electrolysis, ask the electrologist if you can experience treatment for a few minutes before you must commit to any time slots. read more

There's no better choice! Kathy is extremely professional, careful and thorough - after each session I am always impressed at how careful the work is and how great things look. She explains things extremely well, so I always feel like I know what is going on and what to expect. I am super impressed with the entire experience and couldn't be happier with how I look! But don't take just my word for it; after just three months of working with her, I went home to visit my family - I hadn't brought any fancy clothes and hadn't cut my hair in a while; I'd even put on some weight since my last visit. Really excellent. Her price is expensive, but on par with the rest of NYC. I was going to someone in queens to save a bit of money, so much cheaper and had the most updated equipment (same equipment as KB) but after 5 sessions it was clear that there was no progress. So I came to Yelp and saw KB had a deal offered here, as did another practitioner and I tried them both out. KB's equipment was the most modern and I liked her technique, she used aggressive treatment at my request due to very resistant hairs that i've gone to a number of electrologists for (multiple zaps per insertion and a good amount of power, but no scabbing). After just 2 short sessions it was clear to me that this was going to be effective, I'm on my 5th session and I am soooooo happy with the results. Even though I am on a budget I will continue to go to KB and finally get rid of these ugly hairs. and trust me when i tell you, it is HARD to find a good electrologist. Plus she has 2 offices, 1 on the east side and 1 on the west side, this made it very convenient to me because I live on the east side but work on the west side. A friend of mine was also going to the person in queens and I rec'd her to go to KB, she is also thrilled with her results. I had lot of grey beard, tried and tired of so many laser hair removal sessions which all went on vain. Finally i have decided to treat my grey beard with Electrolysis. I was initially reluctant though, as i thought electrolysis would be more painful. I did lot of research, as many electrologist in NYC area, aren't registered professional with proper training. Among the very few registered practitioners , i have decided to get treated with Kathy.
