They have an interactive space on the top floor, and beautiful murals in the stairwells. The museum sponsors pop ups and is worth a follow on socials to keep up with that fun schedule. There is a bar space in the basement that has happy hour from 2-5 every day. Their martini espressos are top notch, and do not get me started on their giant chocolate chip cookies. Wow! In fact, I went back to the counter to get one for the road -- they were out! But before I left, the barista ran to catch me and nabbed me a piping hot cookie straight out the oven. Worth it!

We held off on walking there with the kiddos like we'd hoped to, but did make it for the waning, final minutes on Sunday early evening. This is in the heart of the Brookside shops, in between 63rd Street and Meyer Blvd. Tents line the streets, full of local restaurants, art, photography and jewelry. I enjoyed taking in all the creativity throughout, even if nothing quite caught my eye as I that I had to have in my home as we sped by. My kiddo was particularly infatuated with the Topsy's popcorn cart. It's a pretty perfect setting with several people walking the Trolley Trail to this, and I look forward to making it next year with fingers crossed that the weather is more fall-like.

I'll be honest; this move that occurred 3 months ago really irritated me. How dare you move this neighborhood based organic arts commune that was attracting people like me into a cool little area for a leisurely Sunday afternoon. The City Market is already jammed with people on the weekend and doesn't need more parking problems. After pouting for two weeks, I visited the new location and was prepared to hate everything about it and consider it just another artistic sell-out... I soon realized that my thinking was very short sided. This move has allowed the 60+ vendors to have an entirely new and much much larger customer base. To my relief this has not turned into another Plaza Art Fair and has retained it cutting edge / experimental / alternative... dare I say "hippy" vibe. Art ranges from small $2 trinkets to large oil paintings for $100's, clothing, jewelry 3d printed objects, massage therapy... lot's of cool stuff being sold by cool people that love having conversations about their craft. The season is almost over, but they are now prepared to pop-up at other events also such as Troostapolooza last week. Parking is a breeze, use the streetcar and park in the free lots next to North Loop stop. Two years running as being my favorite free Sunday activity in Kansas City.

Showing through October 5th 2025, but they do come back each year with a completely new performance. Comfy chairs allow you to lean back and take in the dome presentation, feeling immersed in sight and sounds. They do have a nearby concession stand if feeling peckish but it's not really the kind of shows I would want to eat through. It's also kept fairly dark so you can really take in the visuals happening on the domed ceiling. Not so dark that you can't see around you though. Getting up through performances is discouraged and once the doors have closed you can't get back in but could exit if needed.

For our 3pm show, the doors shut promptly around 3:03pm. With 12 Taylor Swift songs, the show lasted around 55 minutes and passed by super fast. The laser and smoke effects are cool, albeit repetitive at times and sometimes not much variation within one song. However, for the entry price it's worth it! The seats are pretty nice, although the angle is a tad bit uncomfortable for prolonged periods. We were running behind and worried about being denied entry, so we didn't get to understand the whole parking situation. Don't park in the lot, as only the rate of $15 is available for All Day Parking. If you're just seeing the show, you can get 2 hour parking for $6 in the parking garage. Definitely won't be making that mistake again :/ In summary, come early so you're not rushing to park and can pick your seats first :)

There are no amenities, so be sure to bring your own beverages or snacks if you will need them. There is something on their website that suggests that this spot is accessible, implying handicap accessible. This is probably an optimistic assessment. From the parking lot to get to the long driveway to get to the buildings, you have to navigate a curb immediately. The driveway is all rough gravel, so it's maybe 150 meters to get from the parking lot to the buildings, and then the walkway between all the buildings is also gravel covered. So it may accommodate a rugged wheelchair, but I tried to push a wheelchair with smaller wheels and it was completely impossible, so I had to abandon the trip. I returned on my own a few days later. The buildings are lovely and quaint, and I can see it being a very interesting visit on a day when the buildings are open and there are people in period dress. It's free on the empty days and I seem to remember there is something like a $5 charge on the event days.

The tour is $10, takes about an hour, and if you have a good guide (which unfortunately we did not), you learn lots of interesting history, including that the home was turned into an orphanage after the war and the Spanish flu destroyed families and left many children homeless. Although the power went out for part of our tour due to the bajillions of tiny holiday lights and old wiring overload, it was so worth the trip! Although the home's decorations will probably never be as gorgeous as during the Christmas season, I am already planning another museum/home tour because there was SO much to see, and so many fascinating displays to explore, an hour was not long enough. The original woodwork, intricate parquet floors, and leaded glass throughout the home could be a whole tour on their own! I also recommend a drive around the area to see some of the many historic churches in the vicinity. We also had reservations for lunch at the tearoom based on a glowing recommendation from a friend, but I think this must have been an "off" day for them, perhaps in part due to the unexpected power outages. I'll try the tearoom again another day. And if you go, ask for hot tea with your lunch. It's a treat ser in lovely antique china cups, with two different flavors of tea,
