Great service. I have an older 1993 SUV for camping and off-roading. Many Smog shops no longer carry the technology to service these older vehicles as they take up much more time to test and require a higher service fee compared to vehicles in the year 2000 and newer. Over the phone the owner reserved a 12:30pm appointment and when I arrived he took my suv in right on time even though he was actively working on another car in the adjacent bay. He educated me on why many older vehicles like mine often fail the exam, noted that he didn't see any visual red flags but that still wouldn't guarantee a pass. He shared all this with me before taking any money or starting the test, giving me the opportunity to make an educated decision. While he ran the test we talked about nutrition, diet, exercise, and supplements, specifically Korean Red Ginseng. During our conversation he got on the floor and started doing pushups on 3 fingers each hand. This guy is a stud and he's nearly 70 years old! Literally, do it and don't shit on mans for no reason other than giving yourself a temporary ego boost. Found his shop through the smog test website, tried to call the number last minute of the day and he answered telling me just to come by. My experience here is excellent. Mr. Kim(owner) is very nice and genuine. He definitely answer my questions. I agree the location is not best but the service is. I have a '97 Lexus (can you believe it ... now 20 yrs. old ... but I "luv" it) I've learned that the DMV wants older cars "off the road" (apparently even well maintained cars) ... so ... it keeps increasing the requirements for smog tests ... Steve said that when I got to KCM ... to leave the engine running so that the catalytic converter would not cool off ... turning off the engine sometimes causes older cars to fail ... Steve called Mr. Kim (KCM's owner) and he was waiting for me when I arrived ... We (my Lexus and me ;-)) passed with zero emissions ... Great new location in Carson, moved from Harbor City. Smog is done quickly, 15 minutes tops each time. Owner is super nice and efficient. Will never go anywhere else. I didn't know he did electrical and oil change as well. Will come to Charlie when I need my next oil change and fix my power window motor. Update to follow He fixed my power window and actually charged me less than his initial estimate. Unheard of. My car was ready by the end of the day when he promised it would be. New Location, same great service. I do hope the owner is reading these as I am not a fan of the new location. Three things drew me to KCM - an indoor sitting area, inexpensive pricing, and fast/nice service. The indoor sitting area is gone - now you're stuck outside with the fumes of something gnarly in the air. I can't figure out if it's sulphur or something else... but it makes me apprehensive to spend much time there breathing it. Also means, no comfy chair, no free drinks, etc... I drive past maybe 5-10 smog places to get here so it's tough to lose one of the major draws :-/ read more

Not a very professional place they open at 8 but they guy who did my smog inspection came extremely late. I needed repairs on my car and the guy took me in circles and finally said. He only repair newer cars and since my car was a 1997 nissan maxima he refused to do it. I feel like i wasted soo much time and didnt accomplish anything. Smog prices are competitive, but I also want to make sure my car is taken care of properly because I know nothing about cars. Don't know what Simon from Beverly Hills is on. The guy was courteous enough but his behavior made me leave and go somewhere else. Took in a 1992 Buick that needed smog and he found some anti-freeze by the thermostat and told me I had to get it fixed before he would test the car.
