I've been to KC's a number of times for various reasons and always had an enjoyable experience here. In the fall we often go to watch football because there are plenty of tvs and specials. This weekend I just wanted some good wings! Staff is friendly and attentive. The food is always good. They also have popcorn for the tables to snack on even if you are just there having drinks. I ordered the bbq wings and they were excellent. The wings weren't dry and had plenty of bbq sauce in them. Portions were good and prices are reasonable. Very clean. It's tucked away in the back of a little dank looking plaza. You might actually miss it if you drive by too fast. Signage for it could be better but that's literally my only complaint. Absolutely loved this place. Don't let the awkward tired strip mall location discourage you from visiting this gem! My sister works nearby and recommended this place, otherwise I would have blown this pub off, there are plenty of quaint watering holes in Guilford. I should mention the interior is very comfortable and there also is a small deck for outdoor dining. 1. AWESOME MENU with wonderful vegetarian options. 2. KC's is a low-key, unpretentious pub in Guilford that's great for grabbing a cold local beer, eating some wings, and watching your favorite sport. Between their multiple (five or six maybe?) TVs, they seem to have every relevant game covered. My five-star rating is based on there not really being many good sports bars in Guilford nor in neighboring towns. Like another reviewer said, I rate based on other establishments of the same type, in the same area. There just aren't any that compare to KC's in my eyes. It's not a dining experience that's going to knock your socks off, but that's not why you'd be inclined to go to a pub in the first place. Foodwise, I haven't tried anything except their bar food/appetizers, which are above average by pub standards. The wings in particular are quite good. They have the best local beers on tap from all around CT. With a very wide selection, they're bound to have a beer you'd like. The service here is prompt, friendly, and no-bullshit. It's never gotten annoyingly crowded nor too noisy here. Parking has never been a problem. The whole experience is low stress (which is what a good pub should be). read more

I stumbled on KC's when I was going to the Bishop's Farm in Guilford. Atmosphere: It is a little dark inside but no different than your typical dive bar setting. Overall it was very clean just a little darker than the standard place to drink/eat. Beer/Liquor : They have a decent selection of tap beers to choice from. I didn't order a mixed drink but it appeared to be a variety of different liquors including some infused brews by the bar. Food; I order 2 appetizers so I can't say I had enough to make an accurate assessment. What I did have was very good: Gorgonzola fries and mac-n-cheese. read more

Had good flavor and lots of (jarred) jalapenos. Onion rings, very large and not bad, except could have used a touch of seasoning. Overall, a solid place to eat. I was a little worried about going here simply based on the outside of the restaurant as it looked very run down and divey and I was trying to head somewhere a bit nicer to celebrate. However, at the advice of my mother I went in and am glad I did. The decor and service is nothing special but the food was delicious. I had the mozzarella and tomato panini while my mom had the California panini. Both were delicious and the salad / chips that came with it were very good as well. KC's Pub is located behind an industrial complex off of Rt 1. Basically, there's a tall blue building with lots of small businesses, and then if you enter the side parking lot and keep driving back, you come upon KC's Pub. I came here for lunch and a beer the other day. I am fairly unfamiliar with Guilford dining establishments, and several of the ones not located directly off of RT 1 were still waiting for health inspections post Hurricane Irene. As soon as you walk in and are seated, they give you a bowl of popcorn. (Think 99 diner, but bigger). There were a handful of diners in the establishment on a Wednesday afternoon, and all of them seemed to be enjoying their meal. I ordered a Harpoon along with the pulled pork sandwich. For me, it was a decent warm meal on a dreary rainy day in-between appointments on the shoreline. read more

Yeah, when you turn in at the sign, go in the back or you'll never find it! First time here, very impressed. Great nachos but beware, there were 3 of us and we barely finished them. Had good meals but the kitchen messed up and put bacon on a vegetarian's sandwich. The waitress immediately offered a replacement or $$$ off. We took the $$$ as we were stuffed. We were so disappointed. The service was honestly one of the worst. Our waitress barely looked at us and we felt like we were last on her list and more of a burden than anything. The food was also so disappointing. My fish and chips were burnt but the fish was barely edible. Definitely had an issue with the fryer. The clam chowder I would not recommend. My four friends and I walked in a half hour after the kitchen was closed . We weren't familiar with the area so I had asked the manager Kelly for other suggestions that were close by . After that she went out of her way to ask the kitchen staff and server Sam if they would accommodate us. Without hesitation they sat us and served us immediately ! First time here and enjoyed ourselves. We shared buffalo wings which were very good, we liked the mild blue cheese dressing. I had a small fresh mozzarella and tomato salad with salmon and balsamic vinaigrette. It was tasty. Only suggestion for improvement would be to use cherry tomatoes instead of sliced tomatoes. I went there this past Sunday for a Reuben with substituted French fries, a beer and a cocktail. The total was $32. The Reuben's bread was toasted and not pan grilled. The pickle spear was sweet and not a sour dill (yuck!) and the fries were far too little for the extra 3 bucks substitution from the original potato chips. The bartenter had to examine the cocktail list to figure out how to make the house special Manhattan. I'm never going back there again. read more

I use to go here often when it was Chip Pub II. Over the years it became our go to place for birthdays. My kids enjoyed the balloons and the big deal they made when they came to the table. We have been back a couple of times but find the food to be generally unexciting. This last visit we went at my daughters request for her birthday. Our waiter was mostly AWOL. When he was around he did a poor job providing service. No set up, long wait for drinks (despite being a slow night), bring out meals without clearing the table (we had to clear the table ourselves while holding our own plates above our heads. I mean really ridicules. The straw that broke the camel's back was that despite several mentions that it we had a birthday they seemed to just not hear. After I had to make an explicit request for the birthday deal the waiter showed up with some ice cream and a balloon and walked away. When I asked if they still did "the whole birthday deal" his response was "oh, you wanted the whole deal?" I mean, come on, this was for a little girl! The food was okay. The Irish nachos were great. The onion soup was poor, they were out of the NY strip so my son ordered another steak that was cooked incorrectly. This is a boy that, at 100lbs, can eat two entrees at a sitting. He ate about 25% of his dinner and didn't want any more. Not a good recommendation. So while the popcorn is nice, and the atmosphere is fine, the food was below expectations and the service was below par. I might go back for a beer (at the bar) alone but we will not be back for dinner and we have agreed that we will go to Chips Pub 3 in Clinton for our next birthday. C'est la vie! read more

We went here based on the previous Yelp reviews, but unfortunately this restaurant did not live up to it's rating. We were disappointed with the food, service, and extra costs for things that are typically included at other establishments. Perhaps the wait staff had a last minute call-off or perhaps our waitress was new, but we were disappointed with the service. Not only did it take about about 15-20 minutes to take our order, but the only way she would come by our table was if we asked for something, and even then, it took up to 10 minutes to get something as simple as barbeque sauce or our checks. She also did not come back to refill out water for the duration of our dinner. Food: The food was disappointing. Our table got the burger, fish and chips, and ribs. My friend ordered a medium-well burger and got a medium rare burger. She asked for it to be reheated, and when she got it back, it was still red. My other friend ordered the BBQ ribs, which were dry and and had scant amount of BBQ sauce layered on top. I ordered the fish and chips, and what I got instead were two cylindrical lumps of fish fried in batter with no flavor. The only consolation was the sweet potato fries. Overall, I would not come back. For the price we paid, the quality and taste of the food and the service did not match. read more

I came for lunch on a busy Thursday with my best friend. I've never been before, the pub is about halfway between where we both live. I loved it. We both had make your own burgers and cole slaw, which was obviously home made. Even though they were pretty packed with not so much staff, our food came out quickly and sodas were refilled without even asking. The vibe was relaxed and our server, Nolan, so friendly. Burgers at KC's are crave-able - they're really yummy. The restaurant side is good for a night out with the kid, and the bar side is good for a night out with the guy. This is more than just pub food... The owner and chef continue to innovate comfort food in a cozy atmosphere. While it's always fun to return to your favorite food, this is a place to explore the menu. Winter time favorite: chowder bread bowl (homemade chowder and damn good!). Anytime favorite: buffalo chicken wrap. Trust me. Paninis, wraps, burgers, all great. The entrees are well prepared and worth a try as well. My boyfriend and I went for happy hour and couldn't be more thrilled about it. They have really nice ipa beers for $3 and other great deals! The food was out standing my boyfriend got two wraps because they were so good. They ended up messing up my order but were so apologetic and fix me a new one. I love KC's, go there quite a bit. These negative reviews and baseless. It's certainly not dirty, and the food is the best pub food around. The ambiance... well, it's a pub. A good place to come with friends and watch a football game, take the kids for a quick bite. I love the cheeseburger soup, but it's a special and they don't have it that much. That staff is great.
