First of all the bartender JJ made the experience here the best. It's a cool local spot for some late night drinks and food. I was around for a conference and wanted to get a try of something casual. I even came back a second time to watch the Knicks game and they had a musical bingo night. Definitely get the gator wings. They have daily specials. This is a dive bar where you can get bar food. At night it seems like the 20 something's come here and the upper deck area/ rooftop turns into like a dance club area. It was a great spot if you have a huge group of people. We met a ton of family here since we were all in town for a wedding. read more

Stopped in around 3 pm today for a "quick" drink and appetizers while out on our motorcycles. Went up to the deck and there were about 4 people sitting at bar and maybe 2 tables. Oh. Where do I start? I could start with the absolutely awful music that was playing. I'm sorry, but these 2 people have no business being on a microphone and it's hard to believe anyone would pay them to do so. I will say, in fairness, that there was only 1 bartender/server. Yes, the same person doing both...so it's obvious that there might be a wait. She took our drink orders and left us with menus. Came back with a tray of drinks, only to spill them on the ground and had to go get new ones. Finally got the drinks and the beer was not cold at all. Ordered 3 orders of wings and a wrap. How difficult is that? About 30 minutes later we get 1 order of wings and the wrap. In the meantime, 3 other tables came in and sat down. 30 minutes more, we still don't have the other 2 orders of wings and the tables that came in after us are already served and eating. Waitress never comes over to see if we need anything. When she finally does come over we explain still waiting on wings. She acted clueless as if she didn't know what was happening. We waited, stupidly, another 30 minutes and finally had to tell her we were leaving. She asked if we wanted the wings removed from the check...REALLY? No, we'd love to pay for food we didn't receive! I went downstairs and asked for a manager, of course I was told there wasn't one. But the woman there said our wings were given to another table. I don't really believe that. And even if it was true, HOW LONG does it take to make 6 wings? Please don't waste your time going to this place. read more

I was excited when I saw the sign for Sunday nfl football showing 10 dollar coors pitchers 70 cent boneless wings during the nfl games. Now I did go on a Saturday but I figured the prices would be reasonable as the Sunday deals are great. I was wrong. 9 bucks for 5 wings, coors light was 5 bucks for a draft. So basically their forcing you to come only during football Sundays as the wings and coors light is half off. The wings were decent I've had better, a little dry. The fries were pretty good and they gave you a good amount. I also asked the bartender why they don't have keno, she said the owner doesn't want those types of people coming into the bar. I mean it's Westbrook not like this place is in Bridgeport. Most sports bars that size have keno. The inside is pretty run down and beat up.It's a shame cause it's a great location. Stopped by on a beautiful Sunday afternoon because EVERYTHING else is the area was packed (as usual on a beautiful summer day.) I was immediately skeptical when I saw the nearly empty parking lot in this prime location with what looks to be a fantastic rooftop bar/dining area. The food was mediocre, bland and greasy. We started with calamari which was unseasoned and greasy. I got a lobster roll, which is hard to go wrong with at a CT shoreline restaurant. It was tasteless and was probably reheated frozen lobster. But the worst part for me was the absolutely horrendous service. They could not have possibly put in less effort. This place could have SO much potential. But after today we definitely will not be back. There's too many far better options in the area. read more

I've been to The Deck twice. The first time I was very obviously purposefully ignored by the bartender who had looked my way before turning his back at me when I arrived to pick up an order I had called in. While standing about 10 feet away he continued to ignore me long enough for other patrons to take notice and finally direct his attention to the fact that I had been waiting there for a while. After processing my payment (and tip!) he left my order on the opposite side of the bar and walked away. I was forced to stretch out and reach across the bar surface to get it myself. Not sure if his problem was of a personal nature (I am African American). But it certainly left me feeling unsettled and unwelcome. The second time I was there in my capacity as a delivery driver, and I needed to ask a question about the order I was picking up. The woman at the counter replied in a rude and condescending manner suggesting that the answer was obvious. (It was not). Her attitude towards me was completely uncalled for. Sunday night 9:00 bartenders are unwelcoming and carless. Didn't know how to make a basic drink, told him how he puts it down didn't say a word and walks away. Never checked up on us, or ask if he made the drink correctly, I didn't drink it and pushed it aside. He payed no attention to that detail. (We were 2 of 7 people there) he was on his phone texting. Have been coming here regularly. My 26 year old friend was not allowed in because of lack of ID, even though he showed a photo of his passport and ID. Awesome, fun, and friendly place to go. Wednesday nights they have trivia, so many people showed up to play and eat! There was about 10 groups and the host of trivia made sure everyone had a great time. The wings were amazing, crispy and flavorful. My boyfriend got the chicken tenders which were also a good choice! Not going to lie, after reading a lot of reviews I was a little skeptical but my friends and I decided to give it a try for lunch on Saturday. The inside of the restaurant had a gross, almost moldy smell so we made our way to the upstairs deck. You really are pretty high up and you have nice views of a marshy area on one side. Drinks were served in plastic cups and seating is plastic picnic tables so it's definitely not fancy. We ordered fried pickles, a few different wraps, fries, and mozzarella sticks. The food all in all was good except one of the wraps was missing mayonnaise and was pretty dry. A lot of the reviews talked about the staff being rude but our waiter was very friendly and put up with the shenanigans of 5 girls with a laugh and a smile. I ordered wings and onion rings through doordash. When I placed the order I accidentally ordered the wrong type of wing. I called them and asked if they could fix it and I'd pay for the difference- not only did he mention that the price was actually the same (which he could have not done) but for the first time EVER that I've made an error in ordering they actually changed it for me! I'm really astonished at the treatment by the bartender (a guy in his 30s, shoulder length hair, facial hair). My four friends and I stopped by for drinks and were denied service due to out of state IDs. It is summer in a Connecticut shore town...out of state visitors are expected. We are all above the age of 21 (23-26). Never in my legal age have I experienced my ID being denied. A bartender should be knowledgeable of IDs of every state or at least have a guide if they aren't familiar. We told him to call the cops to check our IDs and he proceeded to ignore us and help other customers. We were ready to have a drink and enjoy our time at the bar but The Deck has lost 5 potential customers. read more

Went with some girlfriends to watch Sunday football. They offer amazing game day specials. I had a burger and honestly it was one of the best I've had in a long time. The prices are great and the bar food is pretty good. I went and had zero expectations and was pleasantly surprised. Stopped in at Upper Deck Sports Bar to meet up with some friends for drinks and to have a little dinner. When we walked in it was obvious that since it is off season the crowd is locals. The bar was fairly packed and since it was a Friday night they had a DJ coming on at 10pm. We ended up having dinner here which was what you would expect from a bar restaurant. The loaded calamari was decent and the "famous wings" were average at best. I tried their gator sauce (bbq and buffalo) which was good but it didn't live up to the waitresses hype. What was great was the fact that the food and drinks were reasonablypriced. You walk in and look a a massive wooden square bar and to the right is a rather large area of tables with TVs and then 3-5 pool tables with pool table lights. I think cherry wood prevails. While Donahues in Madison was full with a 20 minute wait, this location was twice the size with 12 cars outside. I was nervous. We sat down with a view of the bar. There appeared to be one bartender and a waitress. It took a while to be greeted and drink orders taken. The crowd was a bunch of men 70 plus and then about 18 adults aged 21+. The menu and specials were dropped off. My menu was greasy. The food was typical bar food with nachos, wings, onion rings, chowders, burgers, wraps, ---nothing wrong with that. Wanting something different I ordered a Mac and cheese bacon burger done medium. I'm picky about my burgers and want it brown and not pink. It was delicious. So was my Cosmo. The husband had a 16 oz prime rib with cheesy bro ally and mash potatoes. It was served with a large steak knife and he had some blue cheese in the side. He thought the steak a little on the rare side and not medium but it was ok. The potatoes were good but the bro ally seemed to have an odd taste. Traffic did not improve which struck is odd-the waitress said the place would start to rock after 10. It was a nice sports bar. Acceptable food. Nice waitress and a great burger! Drinks were good, it just took forever to get the bartenders attention and we were there on a very slow night. The food was horrible, they really shouldn't even try to serve food, it was that bad. We wanted to stay and play some pool, but we felt very uncomfortable with the crowd that was starting to fill the bar. Went today with my wife bills and haywire were packed as usual walked in to maybe 4 people in the bar no bartender behind the bar but there was a sign that said seat yourself so we sat down in a booth after 5 minutes of the bartender not even acknowledging we were there and listening to the clearly drunk patrons I had enough and we went to the Cuckoos Nest in old Saybrook instead which was by far a much better place. Today my husband and I went to celebrate our anniversary with some wings and whiskey and it was an awful experience that we left before even ordering food. The staff is rude and not attentive and if you even try to make small talk you'll be shut down quickly. Everyone seems so miserable every time we even try to go there and this is the last time we'll be there. We ordered drinks and waited about 30 minutes before leaving and going somewhere else for dinner. I could understand if it was busy but every time I go it's dead because it's a week day and the staff doesn't check up on you at all. Drinks and service were good but the food left A LOT to be desired. I got a cup of the clam chowder which was gritty and fishy tasting. For my entree I ordered the $14 prime rib special which was about half fat and half indeterminable cartilage, tendon fat? I have no idea what it was, but I couldn't finish it and the server never even asked me how i liked it. To be fair the fries and mashed potatoes were both good. Coming from someone that works in the industry, I live by the rule that I will never serve someone something that I would not eat myself so I was surprised to be presented with this disgusting mess. If I could I would give this place zero stars. Food, Service, and Seating was awful. Waitress was rude and not costumer friendly. Seating was uncomfortable and in awful condition. Bill's closed and we wanted to watch the Mets clinch the pennant so we stopped in. Maybe 25 TV's, not packed, bar not even half full. Bartenders there clearly see us yet are doing absolutely nothing. Buddy was ready to put his hand up and call one over, but I grabbed his arm and told him to wait. My lady and I have our boat moored nearby and decided to try here. We arrived at approximately 8pm Friday night July 3 and upon arrival the band was doing sound check and Sounded promising. We sat at the bar and waited and waited and waited until the bar back brought us dinner menus, no drinks in sight. After at least 15 mins as we were about to leave an older blonde waitress came over, I asked for a drink menu again. (The bar back was unable to produce one as well) she replied there wasn't one but was able to dictate some of the low quality beers available. We settled on an order of nachos from the basic menu with a up charge of 4$ for chicken. It came out in a timely fashion but things took a turn when we were served paper plates and had to ask for cutlery. The nachos were fair with lots of jalapeños, unmelted cheese, and an ounce of chicken. Not once did the barmaid come over and ask how it was, did we want another drink, would we like to place an order for dinner. By now there were 4 bartenders standing in a huddle, getting ready for the big push, a fella at the door taking a 5$ cover for the band, I mean there were maybe 16 people in the place. Our empty nacho plate sat idle for at least 15 mins before we had to ask for the check, again no how was it, can I get you something else, would you like to see the band etc. Too bad because I was thirsty and the band sounded decent enough to stay although I probably would have dehydrated. We gave this place 4 chances and received terrible service 3 of them. Two times we asked for the manager to resolve the problem because the very young staff just hangs out with each other while you can literally sit an hour before your order comes. When it does, it is likely to be wrong, or overcooked or have just been sitting around under the hot light for an hour. Meals don't come out anywhere near the same time so you will probably not be eating at the same time as your date/friends. Yesterday we were there for my birthday and the bill came up much higher than expected so again, we spoke with a manager about the overpriced incorrect food and drinks and the unsatisfactory service. The waitress who couldn't be found the rest of the meal, suddenly needed to be at our table jumping in with obnoxious comments at my boyfriend to the point where I had to get up and walk out. I will say if you have a lot of patience and like a little giggle go there because in your hour or so waiting for your order you will see various staff coming out of kitchen with orders and going to each table saying "did you have the so and so?" No organization, bad service, sneakily high priced drinks, and hit or miss food. read more

went to the deck in westbrook ct for the first time last night....we usually go to bills but the wait was too long.......the food was excellent and came out on time but the service and atmosphere was horrendous....first got their ordered 2 margaritas after 10 minutes saw 2 sitting on the bar asked if they were ours they had no idea took them....i really wanted prime rib and they didnt have it on the menu only to see someone 2 tables down eating prime rib well after i ordered.....it was a special nobody told us the specials and no sheets with the menu...also i guess there were regulars at the bar were very loud and obnoxious not what you want while eating dinner...this could be a great place need new help our to properly train help and keep the trash out at dinner time read more

I come here often. The service is great except for one older bartender. The boneless wings are huge and come in a lot of different flavors. Lobster Mac and cheese and seared steak salad is the bomb. Can't go wrong with the friend pickles, calm chowder or cold lobster roll. read more
