Visited Mona for eyebrow threading for the first time today. I called late on a Thursday and she fit me in that Friday afternoon. My usual eyebrow lady in San Mateo was booked up; I'm always terrified of trying someone new for brows... but Mona nailed it! Very reasonably priced at $20 for eyebrow threading. She was quick (about 5 min) but paid attention to detail. It had been over a year since I'd gotten my brows done professionally (I'd been tweezing at home here and there), but that was no problem for Mona. She was very friendly and personable, too. Asked for a straight and thick eyebrows. Walked out with thin and arched eyebrows.. When I initially asked for straight eyebrow shape I was told no one usually asks for it. Really?! That should have been a sign for me.. I've grown my eyebrows for 6 month.. came based on high reviews but wish I didn't go. How come a person with 15 years of experience do not know straight eyebrow shaping. So sad, don't even want to look at my eyebrows, no matter how much I try to correct with an eyebrow pen, it does not help. I haven't seen Kanwal since her days in downtown San Mateo and Belmont, but she's always been the best at threading and shaping! I called her on a whim today since I needed to get my brows done for my passport photo, and she was able to accommodate me an hour and a half later! It has been over 2 years since I last saw her (due to me moving away from the Bay), yet she remembered me. So kind. The cost was $20 not including my tip, but it was worth it, especially considering the expense of the office/salon she's currently renting (nearby downtown San Carlos). There's a free parking lot for the building or you can do free street parking. She's only working on certain days so it's best to call/text her ahead of time, however, I got lucky today! From now on, I'll always recommend her to my friends and acquaintances. read more

I made a same day appointment for 3:30pm. I arrived 20 minutes early, but luckily her 3:00pm client was on the phone, so she was able to get me in beforehand. As others have mentioned, she's located inside the salon towards the back right side. Since she's a one woman show, it's understandable why it's appointment only here. Anyways, she really took her time on me. She definitely has an attention to detail and it was also the least amount of pain I've felt getting my eyebrows threaded. To begin, she put on some baby powder and then ended the finishing touches with aloe vera to soothe the burn. Although she did an amazing job, it is very pricey at $15 for eyebrows. I ended up giving an extra $3 for tip which is a lot of money for eyebrow threading when I'm used to spending $6-8 including tip. read more

I stumbled across this salon when I was diamond shopping at Geoffrey's across the street in San Carlos. She has a steril, well kept salon, where one person is allowed at a time. I really feel like I get a personalized experience and that she truly cares. She also teaches me methods on how I can grow them. I get my eyebrows done every three weeks. Her prices are affordable and I always feel welcomed in her salon. I've tried the threading salon downtown Redwood City and it doesn't compare. Poor threading experience. The lady that did my brows did not wear a mask and kept talking to her friend who was also maskless and eating. Small unventilated space. No temperature checks done and she did not sanitize her hands prior to threading my brows. I feel very unsafe coming here and disappointed with their lack of COVID safety measures. I appreciate how flexible KD is when setting up an appointment. I'd always shoot her a text message and she'd reply fairly fast on what time works for her. I have seen her twice for eyebrow threading and the sessions are usually only 5 minutes long. At first, she will apply baby powder (or some type of powder) to your brows first to absorb any moisture. Her threading technique is painless and efficient. She sticks with the natural outline of my brows and doesn't alter it to any other shape. My brows always look great after the session. I will not be coming back. She took me in late, which wasn't an issue, but there was no apology, no greeting, no cleaning of her area, no washing of hands, and no ask of what shape I wanted for my eyebrows. Start to finish for this lackluster service was 10 minutes. The entire time she kept me waiting, she lamented to her client how she couldn't find any good help to teach this easy skill of threading too. While she did my eyebrows, she berated me for doing a poor job myself. Bummer then to have to be charged so much for a sub-par look. I have been seeing her for almost a year now and when l started l had to literally paint my brows in because they were messed up from the different places l was to in up the city. I am very satisfied with how my brows turned out. Mine were a complete mess and Kanwal cleaned and shaped them very well. I called at 11:45am for a 12:30 appt, she let me know the earliest she could do was 1:15pm. I ended up coming in around 1pm just as she finished up another customer and she took me in as soon as they were done. I had no idea it was cash only when I came in and she let me know there was an ATM nearby and it was no problem if I wanted to pay her after she had did my brows.
