They sold my son a car that they attempted to repair but didn't even hand tighten the transmission bolts back on after removing them. On top of that they deleted the codes from the cars Computer making them undetectable from other mechanics. This is a well known car salesman's scam that allows them to delete codes, drive it 30 or so miles until it can pass emissions just before the computer re-creates the codes because the problem wasn't fixed leaving it to the new owner to fix. In this case it entailed a bill of over $4000 dollars. On top of all this I went to bat and got Subaru corporate to agree to fix most of this under warranty even though it was 20k miles over warranty and considering the fact this dealer tried to fix it themselves causing more problems. I simply asked this dealer to please pay the $500 Subaru isn't paying only to be told to pound sand. They keep insisting on me bringing the car in so they car diagnose it. Why in the world would I do that when the Subaru dealer has clearly told me this dealer messed things up trying to fix things and I have print outs with the dates and times they deceptively deleted codes and it's clear this was done while they owned the car. I was also told on a recorded phone call that they admit they have had some problems with their mechanic! I've tried and tried to work with these guys but it seems the guy I talk with has to clear everything with his daddy! It's sad because I felt like I was getting somewhere with him until his dad steps in. Please just don't buy from these clowns. What Happened: I brought my car in for repairs and ended up paying $3,000 - money I had to withdraw from my 401(k) retirement savings as a last resort. Despite this enormous expense, my car still has the exact same problems: Check engine light remains on Clunking sound in the back persists Unacceptable Response to My Concerns: When I returned to address these ongoing issues, their response was shocking: Two technicians claimed they "don't hear anything" (despite the obvious clunking sound) Their solution? "You'll just have to wait until it gets worse" They showed zero accountability for the work they charged me for Additional Issues: Emissions test: They performed an emissions test knowing it would fail due to their recent work, but never informed me beforehand Tire pressure sensors: Initially claimed they would check them, but when I returned, they simply turned off the warning light and then quoted $75 per tire for actual repair The Bottom Line: This shop preys on customers who don't have extensive automotive knowledge. I was charged $200 for the diagnostic test to identify that my compressor needed to be replaced since it was overheating internally and had melted coils (had a shaft seal leak too which is under warranty with Honda but still couldn't get the diagnostic test fee waived after protesting it). Honda customer service put up a fight to cover the compressor replacement since they didn't know if the shaft seal leak or the compressor overheating internally happened first. Dealer quoted over $3,200 to fix the problem and all the parts are on back order. I called up Chuck's based on a friend's recommendation and spoke to Rocky. Right off the bat, he radiated honesty. He took the time to listen to my rambling of what I thought was wrong with my car and gave me a very fair quote compared to another shop in the South SLC area. The day I dropped my car off, I called one more time beforehand to ensure this shop would be a good fit. I spoke to Rocky again who reassured me that he didn't want the dealer's diagnostic report, the dealerships can be dishonest, and that he wanted to take a look and diagnose the problem himself to ensure he could fix my car properly. I dropped my car off within an hour after the phone call. Drop off was super smooth, I didn't need to give out a lot of personal information, and I was able to have a family member meet me at the shop to take me home. Turnaround time was about one business day. It turns out the Honda diagnosis matched Chuck's shop diagnosis but I didn't have to wait on parts to come in and the repair cost almost HALF of what the dealership quoted me. Rocky was very easy to work with and had a lot of patience with me over the phone. His quote matched what I ended up paying. I have found that Lance and his staff only give me suggestions for what must be fixed and tell me what may be optional. Lance also pays his office manager a salary so there is zero commission. This is a completely different approach compared to other shops and dealers. Unfortunately my car kept having new issues every few months that were unrelated to other repairs. Lance pulled me aside and said, "Mike I love your business but get out of this car." I trust these guys and my family and friends have had identical experiences. Shelby reached out promptly to ask a few questions and set up an appointment. I met Shelby at the dealership where she asked a few more detailed questions and listened intently before I took a test drive. I liked the car, but there was another on the lot that I had marked to test drive. Shelby asked if I had seen that it had been a minor accident, which I had missed during my review of the online details. She suggested a few other options, but they didn't fit what I was looking for. I explained I had another car I was test driving that day, with more in days coming. Near the end of this visit the sales manager, Ray, introduced himself and offered his help if there was something that I needed and Shelby was unavailable. During the week Shelby reached out to see how test driving was going. She was inquisitive and offering her expertise without any high-pressure sales technique. Not once did I hear anything like "I have another interested party." or "This price is special and won't last." to encourage a hastied decision. After testing driving the other vehicles, I reached out to Shelby to check if the car I liked was still available, and if so that I would like to move forward with the purchase. To ensure reliability and condition of what I was about to purchase, I asked that they allow me to do a pre-purchase inspection at an independent service shop - which was no issue. While we waited for the final documentation prep Shelby mentioned snacks, beverages, and food they had available then escorted me to their STI Cafe where they have fresh-made sandwiches and baked goods, fruit cups, yogurt, along with an assortment of candy. During midday hours you can get a full lunch. Much to my surprise this was complements when purchasing a car. It'd be a lie to say I wasn't very suspicious - again, based on my prior experience at another dealer. The seating area was bright and clean with a few semi-private nooks with tables, open high and low seating areas, plus a kids play area with a car to examine and a mini drag race ramp. The wait was a little bit long and Shelby checked in with me a few times during. None of it felt phony or fake, just surprising in a good way. When everything was ready I met with John in finance to complete the transaction. He confirmed all necessary details then an assortment of warranty and maintenance packages were offered with suggestions and no real pressure. Descriptions of differences between various offerings and how that changes out-of-pocket expenses in the event. No pressure, but rather a discussion. While car buying is always a little stressful, I didn't feel like I was pressured from Shelby or anyone I worked with to buy this or add that. As a female, I did my research and let Shelby know what I was interested in and she listened. She talked with me and not at or down to me. I wouldn't hesitate to work with Shelby again strictly for how she handled every interaction. If you're in the market to buy a car, I would suggest Mark Miller Midtown Subaru. Ask for Shelby.

I brought it back six days later, and they determined that the A/C compressor was failing after it heated up. Because this required another diagnosis, there was initially going to be a $120 diagnostic fee. I explained that I felt this was related to the original issue I had brought the vehicle in for, and Brad Schatz took the time to listen to my concerns. He agreed to waive the second diagnostic fee, which I thought was a fair resolution. No one likes having unexpected car problems, but what stood out to me was how Brad handled the situation. He treated me respectfully, listened to my concerns, and worked with me to make things right.
