WARNING: Avoid This Auto Shop - Predatory Practices Targeting Single Mothers 1/5 Stars - Extremely Poor Service and Dishonest Business Practices I am writing this review to warn other single mothers and anyone who may not be mechanically inclined about my terrible experience at this auto shop. They completely took advantage of my situation and lack of automotive knowledge. What Happened: I brought my car in for repairs and ended up paying $3,000 - money I had to withdraw from my 401(k) retirement savings as a last resort. Despite this enormous expense, my car still has the exact same problems: Check engine light remains on Clunking sound in the back persists Unacceptable Response to My Concerns: When I returned to address these ongoing issues, their response was shocking: Two technicians claimed they "don't hear anything" (despite the obvious clunking sound) Their solution? "You'll just have to wait until it gets worse" They showed zero accountability for the work they charged me for Additional Issues: Emissions test: They performed an emissions test knowing it would fail due to their recent work, but never informed me beforehand Tire pressure sensors: Initially claimed they would check them, but when I returned, they simply turned off the warning light and then quoted $75 per tire for actual repair The Bottom Line: This shop preys on customers who don't have extensive automotive knowledge. They charged me my life savings for repairs that didn't actually fix anything, then dismissed my legitimate concerns when I returned. No one should have to drain their retirement account only to be told to "wait until it gets worse." read more

Time and again we've gone back to Thomas Tires because we know we can trust them. Most recently they replaced the starter in my CRV for nearly $1000 less than we were quoted elsewhere, and even towed our car there at a very reasonable rate. I don't take my car anywhere else for repairs. read more

Everything you've had go wrong at an auto shop is the opposite here. I never feel cheated at Thomas Tire. They do what you need done in a reasonable amount of time and aren't just finding ways to charge you. I drive 30+ miles to get here because they are just that good. read more

I've been going to Thomas Tires for years and had no problems.. I went in about a month ago and asked to swap my spare for a tire that needed replacing.. They said they couldn't get the spare to release but failed to tell me that they stripped the screw that was holding my spare in place.. Luckily I had a driver pull up to me and tell me that my spare was loose and close to dragging while I was driving.. Could've been some major damage read more

I've been a customer of Thomas Tire for over 20 years and I can honestly say that this was the worst visit I have ever had. Doug was extremely rude and combative. I was there because of a previous tire that picked up a nail. I thought the tire needed air, I was incorrect as I was rudely told by Doug in front of all waiting customers. He loudly claimed the tire had too much air, that it should be checked with an air gauge. Instead of politely telling me my assessment of the tire was incorrect he went on and on about how can he fix a problem if there is no problem, etc. I could be wrong again, but a tire with too much air does more damage to the alignment. Therefore, there was a problem. Doug must have been having a really tiring day because he was borderline rude to everyone. If he can't be nice to the public, his customers, maybe he needs a new profession. read more

By far the definition of a Untrustworthy Mechanic(s). I went to get my Emissions and inspection done with my "Check engine light" on. First off, I did my research and they shouldn't of tested my emissions with the "check engine light" on. This is where I was at fault for not researching before hand. If I would of know this, I would of called out the person who helped me by the name of Doug. Doug told me that I had a bad sensor with my throttle body and I would take a few days, a couple thousand miles and try and find a place where I can get my car tuned up, which could of cost me around the thousands of dollars I wasn't planning on spending. I had a road trip the next day and it was a very important day for me; Doug just knew how to ruin everything for me. After listening to Dougs Lies, I decided to got to AUTOZONE where I requested a Diagnostics for my Check engine light. Turns out the Employee at AUTOZONE was very knowledgeable about the Diagnosis. After he asked me a few probing questions, we got to the bottom of it. Turns out that he had the same issue as I did with his car from the same company and year. About a couple months back I was cleaning my Throttle Body and when I disconnected it, the throttle body went to a rest mode and had to be Re-learned. I googled how to re-learn the throttle body and it didn't even cost me anything and got the issue fixed right away. Doug at Thomas tires Still charged me when he shouldn't of. Considering that I waited for about 1-2 hours to get told that my car wouldn't pass. If he was honest with me, I would've avoided wasting my time and pay $40.00 for nothing. He was very unprofessional when he was "trying" to explain what had happen. He kept talking to another employee about anothe customer when he could of talked to his employees at an appropriate time instead of cutting me off. I DO not recommend this place to anyone, I fee like Doug was a bit racist since iam from another culture. I also felt like he really didn't give a shit about my concern. I had an engine head repaired from Thomas Tire on my 2008 Honda Civic... They did not properly mount my engine. as a result after picking it up I thought It was just that it was repaired poorly but it was simply that they hadn't properly mouinted the engine which caused for additional issues with the mount and causing my clutch to go out because of the shifting of the engine. I contacted them when I was fixing the clutch and they said to bring it in and they would mount the engine. I took it in and they then charged me $250 they claim is a discounted fee but was the same price quoted by the repair shop that I fixed the clutch at. Do not use these guys unless you expect them to do other then they commit to and unfinished repair project. I was a loyal customer until now do not use these guys for any sort of major repair. maybe for tires or oil change. read more

Very rude customer service, I could tell they were in a piss poor mood right off the bat and my first thought was thinking I was gonna be treated unfairly and guess what... I was! There's 2 owners Jim and Doug Jim was sick as a dog (I'm pretty sure I don't want the cold, he should go home and not infect his customers with a virus) but he was a little grumpy but after a bit turned out to be a decent guy, doug... wasn't, I was after a quote because I bought a truck that shouldn't have passed safety, the lower ball joint was an "advised repair" well as common knowledge goes if your doing a safety test for a car dealership and the ball joint is gone 1/2 as bad as this one it needs to be changed, now I have a $490 debt that I have to incur do to them and Ken Graff used cars.... BUT here's the kicker! My debt starts at $490.00 I've missed a day of work -$200 and I need 2 new tires -$600 and a alignment -$70.00... Ken garff will help with 5he cost of the ball joints at a shop of my choice +$490.00 but in screwed on the rest all because this jackass at the tire store slid this truck past safety when it should have been fixed properly, fuck this I'm sending them my bills read more

I took my truck into Thomas Tire Center for an alignment. When I went in to pick it up, I hopped on the nearby freeway and realized that something was wrong. After driving a short distance, I exited the freeway because it was all over the road (clearly not aligned). I then called Doug at the shop and he told me to bring it back in. After he kept the truck for a few hours he called me claiming that the steering column was bad, and needed to be replaced. My truck had spent only a few hours in his shop from the moment I dropped it off in the morning, to the moment I picked it up later that day after taking it back. There was nothing wrong with the steering column when I took my truck in that morning for a simple alignment, and suddenly there's an issue?! Doug said that he could "work with me on the cost of labor" and I then proceeded to tell him that I wouldn't do business with him because he can't be trusted due to the issues that suddenly occurred during the few hours my truck spent in his shop. I left the shop, drove my truck on the freeway once again, and everything seemed to suddenly be fine. Let's just say that this review was written for a reason. It's clear that the shop can't and shouldn't be trusted. Just a fair warning to anyone out there that may consider using their services. read more

Thomas Tire is HORRIBLE! RUN the other way! They're very DISHONEST. The first time we ever went there it was because our car wouldn't start. We towed it to Thomas Tire. We also told them to check the heater in our car because it wasn't as strong as it normally was. So they checked the air conditioning and told us that we would need to pay $510.00 to take the consol out of our car and go through the whole system. They said that if we didn't, then our car would eventually completely fall apart. When I called other places and asked if that was needed they laughed. We just flushed out the system for $80. That was two and a half years ago, and our heater is great. Also, when I asked why our car wouldn't start, they said they had forgotten about that. Turns out there was a HUGE crack in the container that hold the water in our car. They didn't notice. I have a family member that comes to Thomas Tire CONSTANTLY and it makes me mad, because I think that they purposely don't fix things on their car, so the costumer will come back.. then they overprice them again and again. The second time we went there(gah) my husband was stranded after hitting a curb in the middle of the night Christmas shopping, and he brought it to Thomas Tire. He, and I decided never again. Thomas Tire estimated the repairs at $803.00. We called other places with the list of "broken items" that Thomas Tire said was broken. They said that was really far fetched that all those things would be broken, but it they were thats how much they would cost. We towed it to another place, and MOST of the items they said were broken were NOT BROKEN! We paid $340. roughly to get everything fixed at the Tunex in Bountiful. Some people swear by Thomas Tire "because of the way they were acting", but if they looked at the actual car I think that would see that Thomas Tire is lying to them, or did the damage themselves. If you know someone like that just ask them one question: How frequently do you guys have to go back? read more
