We planned a long weekend getaway as a joint birthday celebration. Booked the penthouse (room 11). Booking was easy on the inn's website. On our way there, we received a call at about 1:30 letting us know our room was ready early for check in. Lovely! Arrived at the inn and were quickly handed our keys. No muss, no fuss. Climbed up to the third floor and found an absolutely lovely suite penthouse. Beautifully restored, authentic yet modern. Very quiet. The air conditioners were frigid (yes, we used them in November... we are no strangers to cool weather). Bed was comfy. Maybe not the highest class, but nice. Could use new pillows, but if that's the worst I can come up with, it's not too shabby. Bathroom was enormous. Jetted tub very nice. I wish the fireplaces were operated separately from the thermostats, as they added nice ambiance but became too warm for our liking. Not unusual, though, for our experiences with en suite fireplaces. Centrally located. Could walk to everything. I myself ended up coming down with a bad cold and couldn't enjoy much of the area, but the penthouse was certainly a lovely place to be stuck sneezing. We would definitely come back and check out other room options. I wouldn't say we were given any special treatment or anything particularly welcoming, but the woman we spoke with upon check in was quite pleasant and it was clear who to call should we need anything (which we didn't, aside from a spoon for some late night ice cream, which seemed silly to call for!). read more

Absolutely perfect. We were able to check in last second with a small dog when we needed to *ahem* run away from our previously booked accommodations (sometimes...it's just that bad!). Every year we take a vacation to the White Mountains, New Hampshire. I love the scenery, the attractions, and the beautiful Inns. This past visit we had the pleasure of staying at the Kearsarge Inn and I was extremely impressed! Not only were the accommodations top notch but the location was perfect being steps away from downtown North Conway. There is a beautiful sitting area in the main inn that has orange juice, teas, and coffee in the morning and lemonade, teas, and coffee during the day. We had the Kearsage Suite Room 617. The Inn Keeper was great and walked us over to our room which is in the building next door above the Deacon Street Restaurant which is also part of the Inn. We were able to enjoy the Deacon Street Restaurant and I will write about that in another post. The wooden stairs took us up to our Suite. It felt like having our own apartment with tons of space for the whole family. When we walked in we had a beautiful and large sitting room. There was a couch, recliner, table and chairs, TV, fridge, and even a fireplace. From the sitting room you walked down the hall to the bedrooms and bathroom. The Master Bedroom was large with a King Sized bed, chest of drawers, TV, and closet. The bed was really comfortable. I loved that it felt so homey and not like I was staying away from home. The kids had a separate bedroom which had two Queen beds which they loved. Usually when we are on vacation they end up sharing a bed and they don't like that, especially now as they are getting older. The kids had a great night sleep in their room. I also liked that we could still hang out in the sitting room and watch TV when they went to bed. In the morning they would go out to the sitting room and watch TV also. There was lovely decor everywhere throughout the suite. We also had a lovely view from our room of the downtown North Conway area. The North Conway Scenic Railroad, lots of stores and restaurants were literally just steps away. The funny thing is that we have walked that street so many times and taken the North Conway Scenic Railroad numerous times and I had no idea that this awesome Inn was only steps away. There are other rooms throughout the Inn and there are smaller buildings that are cottages. They are also dog friendly too. If you are visiting the White Mountains New Hampshire I highly suggest you stay at the Kearsarge Inn. This is the best place to stay for a getaway in North Conway. Large rooms, beautiful old inn. I was placed in the Babe Ruth room, which, since I am a life long New York Yankees fan, was a pleasant surprise. Rooms are huge, clean, and each one is unique. Location is perfect for walking to anywhere in North Conway. Another bonus is your dog is welcome. Mine made himself right at home. Since I only live a couple of hours from the Mount Washington Valley, I usually make it a day trip, but when I stay overnight, I always stay at the Kearsarge. read more

We went up to North Conway for the first time last winter to go skiing. We booked the hotel at the last possible minute, as it was a pretty spontaneous trip. I'm definitely glad we found this place online though! The rooms had a real "homey" feel. The pricing wasn't bad, and the location is great! The staff was really nice, they even left a voicemail on my wife's phone as soon as the room was ready for us. We stayed two or three nights, and each night we went out to dinner or went shopping after skiing. Everything was right on the same street, so we could walk everywhere. I had a great getaway weekend at Kearsarge Inn. Although the trip was taken off-season, we were well accommodated by the staff. Booked via bed & breakfast online, the room (select 1) was very cute and reasonably priced. After coffee I asked the lady to give me a tour about other room options in Kearsarge. She was very helpful and showed me the deluxe and luxury rooms. This place also has birthday specials: pay $ equal to your age (21+) on your bday. It's def a great deal since North Conway is great for foliage seeing in fall and skiing all year round. read more

A wonderful way to spend a weekend in North Conway. The rooms are spacious and lovely. The location is extremely convenient. On weekdays, visitors can take advantage of upgrades to better rooms starting at just $10/night. Definitely worth the small charge to be in a bigger room with a great huge bathroom. The heat comes from the gas fireplace in each room, which is a nice bonus during the winter months. The Inn also provided some passes for free snow shoeing or cross country skiing at a local trail. It saved us about $30! My only complaint is that the category of "bed & breakfast" is misleading for this Inn. The Kearsage does not do breakfast. Their breakfast beverages include a pitcher of OJ and some coffee. You also have to get any ice you may want for the night from the front office before they close. This is definitely a great stay and I will be back but I'm bringing a granola bar or two. read more

First, it's important to keep in mind that this is NOT a B & B (since it's missing the breakfast part) ... it's really just a quaint inn. That said, the rooms are spacious and quite nice, There's a gas fireplace or stove in each of the rooms we saw, and the entire atmosphere is one of a nice country inn updated for the 21st century. You're in the center of North Conway (a town with lots of outlets nearby and Mt Washington a reasonably easy drive away) which, among other things, has some good restaurants (see separate review of breakfast). We stayed here because the other 3 people in the party had stayed here once before and liked it ... you can now add me to that group of "like-ers" as well :-) read more

We booked the Kearsarge Inn on accident...and we are so glad we did. This place was fantastic. We received a call when we were about a half hour away letting us know our room was ready 4 hours early. We didn't request early check in and didn't expect to check in till 3 PM and that was fine, but taking the time to let us know we could check in early was excellent customer service! We arrived right off the "main drag" to find a lovely house with a very inviting porch. We were greeted, offered refreshments, and shown to our MASSIVE room. The bathroom alone was about the size of our bedroom at home! We liked the private entry to our room. A/c was FRIGID (perfect for the very hot day!). Our king size bed was comfortable. Room was spotless. A fridge in the room would have been nice - plenty of room for it! The bathtub and shower are separate - we are shower people, but I imagine some people might appreciate this. We enjoyed sitting in the rocking chairs on the porch as the sun went down. There is no breakfast offered here, but there are plenty of good options nearby. They do offer juice and coffee - for an extended stay, we would probably have kept breakfast items in the room to fuel up before heading out for the day. North Conway itself is a cute touristy area - very accessible to many sites. We were able to walk to several restaurants and shops. We would have liked to spend a lot more time here! read more

Wonderful old ski inn in North Conway. The staff here was so attentive and friendly, accommodating our every request, even allowing us to check in at 2:30 in the morning - "it's no inconvenience!" Wow! The room was BEAUTIFUL! We stayed in room eight and had a large tub, a shower, double sinks, a fireplace, large queen bed, a desk, and a chaise lounge. The decorating was traditional without feeling dated. The location of the inn is one of the best amenities it boasts. You can hit most of the best places in town simply by walking. My boyfriend and I walked to White Mountain Cupcakery, a leather goods shop, and a WONDERFUL breakfast place: The Stairway Cafe (a MUST try!!). There are plenty of other good places to eat and shop nearby as well, but those were our favorites. I know one couple had a poor experience and I'm sorry that happened, but from what we saw and experienced, the inn they describe sounds NOTHING like the Kearsarge Inn we visited. We plan to be back no more than six months from now. Definitely plan a trip! read more

This sweet place is Charming and yes with a capital "C". Super easy to check in and then to find our cute lil bungalow. We were on the first floor and the neighbors above us were a lovely couple. These darling yellow bungalows had comfortable seating on the front porch which we enjoyed using while sipping morning coffee and in the evenings while enjoying a glass of wine. This inn is walkable to this town. There were so many options for food and shopping that you could easily walk to. Also a short drive to pirates cove putt putt for the kiddos and a handful of wonderful vegan spots for a bite to eat. Chef's Bistro was fabulous as there were many options for all types of diets. The rooms are small, clean; very comfortable. The rooms were decorated in a ski theme and had cozy bedding. The bathroom was spacious, but needed two things 1. A small table to place your toiletry bag and 2nd a floor length mirror. The room offers a keurig and mini fridge. We appreciated the coffee cups and wine glasses. We were visiting in the summer so did not use the fireplace in the room. But if we had it was surrounded by two comfortable chairs by it and was very cozy to sit and read a book. I would definitely like to stay here again. When you visit make sure you go to Diana's bath. It offered incredible views and a cool dip in some very fresh water. read more

We had a really great stay. The staff was really helpful and courteous and the rooms were very clean. Our room had a Babe Ruth theme which was pretty cool. In fact, one of the more interesting things about staying here is the history connected to the original Kearsarge Hotel House. The Inn is very close to lots of shops and really good places to eat like the Stairway Cafe which is about a two minute walk. If you are staying in North Conway with kids the big field directly across the street and the attached playground or very close by which makes this spot a great place to stay. We had a great experience at the Kearsage Inn. Simply put, it's a reasonably priced inn with large, clean and modern rooms that is nestled right in the center of North Conway, just right off the main street. You can walk to the scenic railroad and all the various stores and restaurants in about 30 seconds. We only stayed for one night and we were up and out fairly early, but our check-in and check-out experiences were super easy. Our room was in freestanding building behind the main inn and was massive and very clean. The bathroom was immaculate, the furnishings all seemed new and the room had a gas fireplace. The bed was very comfortable, the A/C worked great and it was very quiet at night. There was ample free parking behind the inn. The staff was friendly and the coffee, tea and juice in the morning was much appreciated. Some people seem to wish they served breakfast, but the lobby room is quite small and I don't think they have the space to do that. We walked over to the Stairway Café for breakfast (an excellent staff recommendation). This place is perfect for budget-conscious travelers who don't want to stay in one of the myriad motor inns around the area, some of which look like they've seen better days. Four stars for a clean, modern and affordable room, for the great location and for the no-hassle experience. read more

Cute, quaint, quiet, and clean. Couples take note: the bathrooms have two sinks! Or so ours did, anyway. All rooms are heated with a cozy gas fireplace. There is free wi-fi available and -- though we didn't take advantage of it -- there is free coffee and juice in the morning. The location in downtown North Conway is perfect, and within walking distance of breakfast joints, restaurants, and shops. We have stayed here every time we visit North Conway for about the last 5 years. There isn't another place we would stay in North Conway. The office staff is great, knowledgeable of the area, friendly and so helpful. The woman who does the house cleaning is also a wonderful addition to the staff, does a great job keeping the rooms clean and very helpful. She even helped us with our bags! A few steps from downtown. Don't miss the stairway cafe on the corner, best breakfast in town. Can't wait to go back this summer. read more

We stayed here last weekend for a romantic ski getaway and really liked it! There are 4 different styles of rooms and we were in the Luxury room. There was tons of space, a tv and a king sized bed, and the electrical fireplace and hot tub in the living room really added to the warm ambience. The service was great, location was great (several great dining options, gift & craft shops nearby, and 5-10min from Attitash Mountain), and we would definitely stay there again--but would request a room where no one was above us (we could hear our upstairs neighbors walking around). It's also a pretty old inn and the creaking pipes kept us up a little bit. If you are well equipped with ear plugs (or if you are a heavy sleeper) this place is 5 stars. read more

We booked a last-minute getaway to North Conway on a Monday morning during NH school vacation week (no kids for us but a dog). I knew the Kearsarge Inn was pet-friendly and the rate was very good ($30 upcharge for a dog). Gail, who answered the phone, was friendly, professional and extremely accommodating when I told her that I was in a leg-brace with crutches and stairs would be difficult for me. She was able to move another guest to an upgraded room so that we could be in the deluxe suite at the top of the ramp where that guest had been. She told us that check-in was 3 pm but if we needed to arrive earlier it would be fine. When we arrived Gail was there smiling and welcoming. She showed us to the room and we started to get settled in. The room was lovely with a king-size bed, gas fireplace (the only source of heat), huge bathroom with a single-person jacuzzi tub and a nice sitting area. When my boyfriend tried to get the gas fireplace to turn on, it wouldn't. He let Gail know and she immediately moved us to an available upgraded luxury suite for the inconvenience at the same rate for the deluxe suite. This luxury suite was located in a separate little building behind the main Inn and we were on the 1st floor. There was a penthouse suite above us and it had 2 flights of stairs on the outside to get to it. We don't know if anyone was in the penthouse suite above us; we heard no noise at all if there had been someone above us. The luxury suite was larger than the deluxe, still with a king-size bed, flat screen TV, gas fireplace, nice sitting area just like the deluxe. However, the jacuzzi tub was in the corner or the room instead of the bathroom and it was a 2-person size - very nice! The bed was comfortable, the gas fireplace came on automatically throughout our stay to reach a pre-set temperature, and the bathroom was fine although smaller than in the deluxe room. The space was clean, comfortable, updated nicely and not at all too "cute" or kitchzy like some inns are where it looks like Grandma decorated the place in 1980. Gail put extra salt/sand mixture down just to make sure there would be no slippery spots which was very kind of her. As others have mentioned, it would be nice to have breakfast on site, but we knew in advance that wasn't the case. The lobby did have coffee, tea and hot cocoa in the morning which we sipped while getting ready to go to breakfast. Check-out was 10:30 am which was fine because my boyfriend was anxious to hit the slopes. Cranmore Mountain is less than 1 mile away from the Inn - so convenient for skiiers. Because the Inn is in the heart of North Conway, there are many dining options within walking distance, which is a real bonus in nice weather. We would highly recommend the Kearsarge Inn, and we are admittedly a bit "snobby" about inns and B&B's (Nestlenook is more our style). read more

Planned a birthday getaway for my girlfriend and was not disappointed with the Kearsarge Inn. Amazing romantic room with fireplace, king bed, and Jacuzzi. The inn was very clean with friendly staff. Plus the "Deacon St" restaurant next door was amazing. Great food and spirits. I would full recommend these places to anyone...knowing they will be pleasantly pleased. This place is great. Very clean, nice innkeepers, and we got a good value for the money - a huge room with an awesome bathroom, seating area, and deck for about $180 per night over a weekend. Great deal. Also, it's right in the action of downtown North Conway, which is a huge draw to just walk right outside and head to shopping, or a restaurant, or whatever. We like that convenience factor. The one and only drawback to room #9 is that it has this huge bay window in it that literally causes the room to become bright and sunny just as soon as the sun rises. Since we were there over the summer solstice, that meant we were awakened around 515 Am! I wish the innkeeper would place a powershade for that window so we could have blocked out that early morning light. Because of that, I would not want to stay in that room again. However, we loved the Inn and because we got married while staying there, we'll always have memories! Glad we stayed there ! read more

We spent a weekend there,and did enjoy the Inn and the area. Room 7 is where we stayed and it was well appointed and clean, and they did a very good job of servicing the room. My only issue is a minor one, the TV and lack of a DVD player. We are seniors and get back in the early evening after dinner and would look forward to a movie after a busy day. The old 27" TV in the room is really outdated, and for the price of the room I think we could upgrade a bit. Other than that we truly enjoyed our visit as we have not been to the N.Conway area in a while. When we return we will come back here, and I hope we can see a movie in our room before bed. read more

I went for a night with my boyfriend. There were some things I liked about the Kearsarge Inn. The room was nice. And the price (mid-week deal) was good. However, that's where the "good" ends. I was told when I booked the room that we could check in early, but when we arrived at 1:45pm (check in is 3 pm), the girl was completely shocked and told us to come back at 3. Ok... no problem. We went and got lunch. At 3 we went back to check in and get settled and there was no one there. We waited in the lobby for about 20 minutes until the girl came back. Slightly irritating but ok. Later that day, we went downstairs for some ice and were told that the hotel doesn't give it out to guests. Weird. But then she offered to give us some from the big bucket of ice in the freezer. Strange that an inn wouldn't have ice, but then show us that there's a big bucket of it. We did take some ice from the girl, and made some drinks. Half way through his drink, my boyfriend stopped and pulled a piece of sharp plastic about an inch long out of his mouth! It was in the ice!! I couldn't believe it!! We immediately went downstairs to tell the girl, and she took the plastic out of my hand and said "wow... I don't know... " She was completely unfeeling, no apology, no offer to get us more ice, nothing. I was shocked! The other reviews were great, but everything that had happened started to ruin things for us. After that we were pretty skeptical about the place. The next morning, my boyfriend went downstairs and told another woman about the check-in, and the plastic in the ice. She expressed sincere apology and said she was going to call the owner and see if she could do anything for us. That made us feel a little bit better, that someone had actually shown that they might care. But a couple hours later, when I checked out, I mentioned that I knew my boyfriend had said something to her about our experience, and she nodded and said "Sorry. Here's a copy of your receipt." Also, the place is advertised as a B&B... but they don't serve breakfast! A B&B without any breakfast... ridiculous! After that we were totally disenchanted with the place. A decent room for a good price should not mean that customer service goes out the window. We will NEVER go back there, and will recommend others find somewhere else to stay. read more

Staff was very friendly and inviting, location was very convenient to town you could walk everywhere no need to drive, room was nice looking with fireplace and roomy bathroom but only downfall was it could have been cleaner, bedding didn't look like it was changed, it smelled like the people that we previously there like men's cologne, and there were hairs on the linens and floors as if a dog was there...I would give it a second chance but would call to make sure it didn't happen again. read more

This was my first stay at an inn. I've always been a motel/ hotel person. I was extremely happy with my room. Very roomy for my two children and myself. It was close to local sites and sat in the middle of downtown. Desk manager actually walk me to my room and opened the door. Housekeeping kept room very clean and neat during are two night stay.
