They're taking way too long for renovations. I'm sure they've gotten rid of the charm it previously had. Not sure why it's taken so long. I'm sure it will be overpriced to pay for the Reno. The back yard is a mess, not sure if they're keeping the pool or not. read more

We decided to visit North Conway, NH as we hadn't been there in years. Did a Yelp search of hotels in the area. We usually stay in the big box places but in North Conway none of these are close the the North Conway Village where we wanted to be (we like walking and exploring the local area and small businesses). We saw The Cranmore Inn on line and liked what we saw (their website is awesome). I called and reserved the room immediately. (A side note- our original room was on the third floor but a week before our planned arrival I suffered some physical injuries which would have prevented me from climbing stairs. I called and the innkeeper Christopher very graciously allowed us to change rooms to a first floor) On our arrival, our room Deluxe Suite 100 was ready and just beautiful. It had a private entrance off the back deck ( check it out on the website). The Inn's location was perfect - a short distance to restaurants and shopping. Breakfast was great - nice variety. The waitstaff were young and charming. In the afternoon there are hot beverages and baked goods in the living room. We met several fellow travelers and enjoyed good conversations. There is also a resident dog - Jake - around the property- he is a character! Thanks to Eddie, Christopher and the staff for a memorable North Conway getaway. We spent 4 days in North Conway and the Cranmore Inn was one of the highlights of the trip. Our room was comfortable, we looked forward each morning to a great breakfast, and enjoyed chatting with some of the guests while staying at the inn. We dealt primarily with Eddie as our innkeeper and he was very personable and helped us enjoy the stay. The inn's location is at a great spot, it is a very short walk to many of the shops and restaurants. I got tickets on Expedia and then realized afterwards that it's significantly cheaper buying it directly from the inns own website so let that be a tip for you, buy tickets directly from their website. My partner and I stayed here 11/11-11/13 to celebrate our anniversary. It was $403 for 2 nights. The inn was pretty nice and cozy feel. Jake- the owners dog was super cute. The bed was comfortable as well as the pillows. Breakfast was good. My only complaint was that housekeeping took our chocolate covered strawberries (my partner got the romance package) when we weren't done with them. I understand if there was only 2-3 left but there was 10 or more left. :( Update: The owners did reach out to us, and sincerely apologize for the strawberries. Thank you! We stayed here for three nights in September 2019 and it was a lovely stay. Extremely nice staff, a really nice room, and the whole inn has a cozy, but spacious feel! One night, our window, which may not have been secured properly (our fault), blew in and knocked over a lamp, shattering the bulb. Less than 30 minutes after we told the front desk, a workman was up to clean and fix the lamp and window. Very quick service and I don't believe we were charged for it either! Overall, a great place to stay with a beautiful and convenient location and very welcoming, friendly, and helpful staff! read more

I stayed at the Canmore Inn in August with five of my friends and it did not disappoint! The location is perfect-10 minutes from Diana's Bath and 5 minutes from the Saco River. Shops and restaurants are within walking distance. We stayed in the apartment suite which includes two bedrooms and a pull out couch. It was clean and welcoming. There are two balconies overlooking the beautiful backyard. Extra towels were provided. The main entry way and shared spaces are absolutely lovely. It has a cozy and old fashioned feeling- in the best way! There is a large pool in the back as well as a fire pit and a hot tub (which was open by reservation due to COVID). In the evening all the guests gathered around the fire pit and enjoyed one another's company. Breakfast includes several options and was very tasty. The staff was so accommodating and sweet! I've already recommended the Cranmore Inn to many of my friends and family. I truly can't say enough great things about it! read more

Here's what we could NOT do: -Sleep on the pull out couch (ancient) -Eat full breakfast in our room or outside (not allowed) -Swim in the pool before 10am (which also means no pool on check out day. Note: check out is at 10am) -Go to the hot tub without an appointment (25 minutes only. They are watching) -Get more than 2 towels for a 4 person family without grief On the up side. We recently stayed at this Inn in North Conway over New Years. The Inn has a lot of history and character, with period pieces from when it operated as an Inn or ski lodge. There is a cozy living room, though some chairs are quite old, with a gas fireplace and two vintage pianos. There is also a study area with a television and books, and the dinging area has puzzles, board games, and more books to read. The rooms are unique, and not necessarily in a good way. Some doors are not square, leaving gaps between the frame and the door itself; some rooms have slanting floors and the floors creak throughout the house. The current owner is committed to updating and modernizing the inn, and there are signs that he is working hard throughout the building. New drywall is being put up, old wallpaper being taken down, and repairs on the building are ongoing. Since the building is over 140 years old, some settling caused the "uniqueness" we found in the rooms. Despite this, the rooms were comfortable and the staff very friendly. The full breakfast erved every morning was great! The location is fantastic, with the inn only a block away from downtown North Conway, and the Cranmore ski lodge is about a mile down the road. Local stores are easy to access and there are several good restaurants nearby. The views from the rooms have mountains in the background, including Mt. Washington in the distance. Echo lake and the nearby Saco River provide some easy hiking, with more challenging hikes only 10-15 minutes away. Overall, we would recommend this place to stay if you are looking for an inn with history and a great location in North Conway. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to take a weekend getaway to the White Mountains and opted for the Cranmore Inn due to its accessible location and romantic charm. We had an overall enjoyable stay but want to highlight both the good & not so good aspects of this Inn. The positive: * Great location. Steps from town with multiple restaurants and shops to explore. Drivable distance from many hiking trails and other landmarks. * The ambiance. Beautiful Victorian Decour and well-kept bed & breakfast. Updated old world charm style with homey-vibes. * The outdoor space. Lovely backyard with grassy area, hot tub, pool & fire pit. Plenty of room for tossing a frisbee and tables for enjoying a drink near the pool. * The owners. Super friendly and helpful in terms of local recommendations and trip suggestions. Nice family owned place and adorable dog on site. The negative: * The room amenities. We paid $160 a night for a weekend in mid-June and thought the room could have used some improvements for the price. The room was basically a bed, tv and bathroom, and that's about it. No ice bucket, fridge, coffee maker, or safe. There was a communal fridge & wine rack for everyone to use, but it would have been nice to have these in room. * The bed. It was definitely not horrible by any means, but the pillows were not comfortable and the bed was just average. I'm writing this with 4 star hotel / B&B expectations in mind. * The fire (or lack of?) it was our last night at the Cranmore and we were really looking forward to coming back from dinner to a fire despite it being 80 degrees (yes, we're from the city). It was around 10:30 and while we had enjoyed the fire pit the past two nights, we were notified by the owner that we couldn't have a fire because it was too late & too hot, and he didn't want anyone else starting a fire. We were pretty bummed about this and didn't quite understand why we couldn't have this luxury when we had the past two nights, and it was a large reason we chose this as our accommodation over another place. Oh well. Other notable comments: The breakfast is served from 8-9:30 and is minimal, but freshly cooked & decent. There are 5 options to choose from including egg varieties, waffles & French toast. There are no home fries offered as a side, just breakfast meat. As a vegetarian I could recommend offering some fresh fruit or home fries instead of just meat options. However their coffee was yummy & we had no complaints with the food. The Inn is open 24/7 but there is oftentimes no one in the office so anyone is free to roam the place. However the neighborhood is super quiet and seemingly safe so this didn't bother us at all. There are quaint sitting areas and a piano to play as well as a nice front porch with rocking chairs. This is a LGBTQ friendly hotel. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would consider the Cranmore Inn for our next stay in North Conway. read more

Our big group has been coming to this inn one weekend per year for the past 24 years, through 3 different owners. The current owners, Eddie & Christopher, are the best yet. They have high standards and a remarkable attention to detail. The inn is truly beautiful, and the new owners have made substantial upgrades and improvements over the past several years while preserving its historic charm. The rooms are very comfortable with beautiful furniture that fits with the antique nature of the inn. The living room is large and perfect for reading or socializing. Breakfast is fresh, delicious, and fairly high-end, with eggs, waffles, pancakes, bacon, sausage, cereal, choice of juices, fruit, and dietary options like gluten-free pancakes. The owners are friendly and the entire staff is helpful and very competent. There is good free WiFi that is reasonably fast and has a strong signal throughout the whole first floor of the Inn, though the signal is not quite as strong above the first floor. The folks in our group tend to do their WiFi laptop/phone/tablet stuff in the first floor living room or dining room, which is a comfortable and social place to be anyway. The inn is just one long block from the center of North Conway, yet is away from the busy thoroughfare. It is super convenient to Mt. Cranmore for skiing and snow-tubing. More than a dozen good restaurants are just a few blocks walk away, as are many shops that our group enjoys. All of the rooms are nice (because our group takes over the whole inn, I've seen all the rooms), but they vary in size and amenities to meet a variety of needs and price-points. All rooms have private baths. There are simple rooms with a queen bed, closet, and dresser (and private bath, of course). Other rooms are larger and have multiple beds (for example, a king bed plus a trundle bed that turns into two twin beds). Some of the rooms are 2-room suites, a few rooms have a separate living room, a couple rooms have a kitchen, some rooms have a deck, one room has a jacuzzi. Every room has a modern flat-screen TV, and some suites have 2 TVs. There are no phones in the rooms. I personally don't miss the phones; everyone has a cell phone these days and cell coverage at the inn is strong. As one would expect from a 150+ year old inn, access to each of the rooms varies. Some of the rooms are on the second floor, and others are on the third. A few of the (nicest) rooms have a private entrance (see below). The "carriage house" apartment , where again you walk outside briefly to access it, is probably the largest accommodations, with sleeping room for 5 people, a living room, and a kitchen. A note about accessibility throughout the inn: The stairs are pleasant but there is no elevator, and getting in the front door also involves a few steps. My favorite rooms: Rooms 100, 102, and 104 (all of them impressive, romantic, beautifully appointed, each with a private entrance, accessed via a short 20-foot walk outside across the deck), and Room 200 (huge! beautiful! no need to walk outside at all; the best suite in the inn for a family). The inn has a hot tub on the deck just steps from the warmth of the inn's dining room, available for use by all guests. The hot tub is super popular with our group, for adults but most especially for the teenagers. They come back from a cold day of skiing, put on their swim suits, and pop into the luxuriously warm hot tub before deciding where to walk for dinner. There is also a swimming pool. Our group only comes to the inn in winter, so the pool is always closed up for the season when we are there. But the pictures of the pool look nice, and I have heard that the pool is popular with the summer guests. The Cranmore Inn is the grande dame of inns in the area. The literature says it is the oldest continuously-operating inn in North Conway, and I have no doubt that's true. Ten years ago, the inn was showing its age and was in need of repair. but nowadays, under the new owners, everything is restored and beautifully cared for and it's a top-quality historic inn. Our group loves it. That's why we've been coming back every year for almost a quarter century. And we aren't the only ones. It's more than just a building. The kids of our group's families grew up coming here. It's a tradition that we all very much look forward to each year. read more

My husband and I spent two nights over Thanksgiving weekend at the Cranmore Inn and are already talking about a return trip. This B&B has so much character! Each piece of furniture around the inn seems to tell a story. The architecture is detailed and interesting. The whole inn was incredibly clean and very well kept. Our guest room (304) was recently renovated and beautiful. The innkeepers, Christopher and Eddie, took excellent care of us during our stay. Stayed overnight with my family 12/27/16 (kids are 14 and 16)....my wife has been here previously with our daughter. The owners (and other staff) are incredibly friendly. They absolutely go the extra mile with regard to being proactive where their guests' comfort and happiness are concerned. Room 104, the pool,yard and patio area are wonderful. However upon arriving, we did arrive two hours early, I went in to let the inn keepers know we had a reservation and we have arrived. I was greeted by the inn keeper telling me, most people think they have a reservation and they don't, ( I have no idea why that was said to me), I then said we are staying in room 104 if that helps. The inn keeper finds our reservation, then he tells firmly but politely checkin is at 3:00pm. We are sitting in the parking lot approx time 2:38pm, people start arriving and they are coming out of the office with keys in their hands, oh well we wait until 3:00 pm to checkin. We skipped breakfast Saturday. Sunday we decided to have breakfast we arrived at 8:24am, told breakfast does not begin until 8:30 am, we understood no promble, we stood out on the enclosed small nook area, people are arriving immediately after us being seated and ask what they would like to drink. We sat for breakfast at 8:30am like we were told, I asked for black tea the inn keeper asked me what do you remember what kind of tea did you have yesterday, I did not have breakfast or tea yesterday I should of said to him, instead I just said I do not remember. Upon leaving a gentle was dropping his key off and the young person at the desk said to him we like to take pictures of all our familes upon checking out , when I handed our key to the young person at the desk, we would not told this. We found our stay here, (myself, husband, and my two welled behaved dogs) unwelcoming, maybe we were not considered a family? We never felt this way in all of our travels. The Cranmore Inn was a delight to stay at for our weeks hiking vacation! We arrived to find a very clean quite enjoyable Inn with a great location close to everything in North Conway. 24/7 there are yummy home made chocolate chip cookies, ice tea and coffees for your enjoyment. Good breakfast, nice hot tub and enjoyable pool out back. We walked to dinner, drinks or shopping almost every day. The Cranmore Inn is a relaxed enjoyable very clean atmosphere, if you want expensive stressed out "charge me a fee for everything I do or need at your hotel" then go someplace else. After a long day of hiking or canoeing, the huge outdoor hot tub is amazing. I stayed here last year with my daughter in room 201. That's a great option parents with a child because the inside French doors can be shut for privacy. The beds and pillows were new. The morning breakfast was hot and wonderful. Breakfast was really good, and the price was very reasonable when you considered the breakfast factor. A very short walk from main street made it very convenient. I stayed here with my BF over the Columbus Day weekend. The place has a great location- off the main road, but still very close to the restaurants and maybe 20min from all the hiking trails we visited. I think my BF liked this place more than me... I definitely had some issues with it. Our room was okay- we stayed in the loft, decent size room. However, the first thing that hit me was the smell as soon as we walked in. Can you say MUSTY and OLD?? They should consider cleaning the carpets or just removing them all together. Unfortunately the pillows smelled musty too and the mattress was rock hard. Also- really weird but in the bathroom there was a metal shelf above the sink and it made it almost impossible for me to bend over and wash my face without spilling water all over the floor and bumping my head on the shelf. You can tell they try pretty hard though- having stayed at other B&Bs in the past, this one is definitely more organized. The breakfast area is big and the kids working there are very nice and polite. The breakfast was delicious, but I could've gone without the apple sauce and opted for eggs instead. Overall, the location of this place is fabulous and it's OK. If we go back to North Conway for another long weekend, I would probably stay here again if we couldn't find anything else. read more

Recently returned from a 2-night stay over MLK weekend. We were a little nervous for our first B&B with with our two kids (5&7), since we usually opt for "noisier" hotels, but the owners couldn't have been more accommodating and the place more kid friendly. (They have kids of their own, so they "get it.") Kid friendly doesn't mean messy, however. The place has a very clean, comfortable, and relaxing-place-for-grown-ups feel. It's just our kids felt as welcome as we did, especially in the common TV room with the giant TV and selection of board games. For lodging, we had a 2-room suite which was perfect for our family of 4, giving the kids their own room. We especially loved the hot tub after a fun but cold day of skiing at nearby Cranmore Mtn--about a 2 minute drive away. Breakfast was incredible, too, and the owners' recommendation for dinner (Hooligans, a block away) was spot-on! To sum it up, we were very happy with our choice of the Cranmore Inn. The owners were clearly interested in making our vacation enjoyable, from the discount lift and tubing tickets to their overall friendly demeanor. We will definitely be back! read more

Now I have only been to one bed and breakfast before but that was also in North Conway, just down the road so I would assume the accommodations would be similar as the price was similar. Pros: -great location, all restaurants and shops are within walking distance -super comfy mattresses -delicious homemade treats at 3pm daily -access to a fridge and a wine cooler -friendly waiter for breakfast Cons: -they keep the heat so low in common areas it is always cold in there -no Real fireplace, they just have an electric one that never goes on bc the temperature in the room has to get super low for it to work so the ambiance is lost -they serve coffee and tea only during the hours they chose, from 8:30am-10am then 3-6, otherwise you have no access to coffee or tea so if you like coffee in the morning you need to walk down the road and buy one which we did each morning -limited breakfast selection and you are NOT allowed to deviate, if you want to add a pancake to your breakfast you can't, if you want bananas in your cereal, not allowed -Innkeepers do not sleep in that building so they are not there often For the money you pay for a bed and breakfast, you would expect a warm, cozy place, a roaring fireplace, and access to the basics like even a Keurig cup to have a coffee in the morning or mid day. There are many other choices in the area, don't waste your money on a place that is more about restricting everything vs doing what is best for your customer. read more

My family of four adults just returned from an enjoyable 3 night stay during peak ski season / Mass school vacation in a very nice room of 2 queen beds and flat screen tv. The beds were clean and very comfortable with squishy comforters, extra pillows and blankets if we needed them, room and bath in perfect working order, even under the furniture was clean which isn't always the case, . We walked to Hooligan's across the street and Horsefeathers around the corner for dinner, did some local shopping, got discount ski passes to Cranmore Mountain at the front desk, enjoyed breakfast on 2 of our 3 mornings (work commitment led us to leave early on the last day), made use of the downstairs fridge and TV room, hubby and I enjoyed quiet time on the porch adirondaks and my daughter used the spa. The staff is very friendly and happy to assist in making your stay an enjoyable one and it was. My only request would be access to coffee outside of breakfast hours but with a coffee shop at the corner I really can't complain. Thanks CI for the perfect getaway. read more

Beautiful inn with friendly staff. The room was well appointed and very clean. Breakfast was excellent, though only available between 8:00am and 9:30am. Check out time is an early 10:00am and note that you may only check in between 3:00pm and 6:00pm unless you notify them otherwise (being a B&B this makes sense). The location is great. It is within walking distance of North Conway Village, the Conway Scenic Railway station, and several restaurants. Very close to Cranmore Mountain and other places for skiing and outdoor recreation. read more

Terrible. The guy at the desk was decent, but his kids were there running around outside our room. Walls are paper thin, it honestly felt like sneaking out of moms if you left in the middle of the night. Our bathroom was falling apart and the size of a medium closet. Bed wasn't too comfortable, pillow was flat, tv was screwed up, the plastic TV guide wasn't even accurate. We skipped breakfast so we wouldn't feel bad about not tipping. Never again will I waste 118 dollars here. We stood in room 202. read more

My girlfriend, her father, and I stayed here recently, and it was an amazing experience! Eddy, the owner of the inn was charming, funny, and welcomed us with open arms. The environment was quaint but very well contained. The beds were comfortable, the showers nice and warm, and the town surrounding the inn had its small town charm. This B&B felt less like a B&B and more like a hotel. Although it was a couple that ran the place, there were a lot of rooms and the house lacked a personal touch. The rooms were plain but very clean. Staff is sometimes overbearing, and it was therefore difficult to use the common spaces to simply relax. Breakfast is sub par in terms of the amount and quality of food, and the staff was unwilling to make substitutions to the breakfast entrees. There is a fire pit and patio area that is nice and well-maintained but firewood is not provided and the hot tub was not very clean. Overall wasn't an awful experience but I will not be back. read more

I have been to the inn a couple times and each time I'm there is such a joy. The staff is very nice and they really show that they care about the people who are staying there. It's in a great location, there are nice little shops and places to eat right at the end of the street. I was impressed with the quality of the bed, pillows and room in general. We almost stayed here. So that opening line should tell what is to follow is not pretty. We were up for a long weekend in NH for mountain biking. We drove by and saw they they had rooms available so we stopped in. I guess I should have had second thoughts based on vacancies 1 block from the center of town. We were me by an elderly woman at the desk who seemed a bit ticked that her cross word puzzle time kept being interrupted. She turned out to be very nice. We could not check in because they did not get there sheets back from somewhere. Ok we left and walked around for awhile. Came back an hour later same story. So we went out to sit by the pool. The back of the property was weed infested and the pool was filled algae and leaves. Could see no visible signs of an active filtration system. At that point the impression was made and I could not have cared less if the inside was impeccable. We politely told the elderly woman we would not be staying and left. I had to give it a star to post. read more

Loved it! Our room had a full kitchen, living room with twin trundle bed, pullout couch and a desk, separate bedroom with king size bed. Super comfortable, looked freshly updated and painted, very clean, perfect for family of four. The common areas of the inn were very comfortable also - again, looked fresh and updated but not fussy. Coffee and brownies in the main living room in the afternoon - perfect after skiing. Breakfast was great. Welcoming to families. Location was really good - short walk to the main drag, close to Zeb's, train station, two great coffee shops, etc., 5-minute drive to Cranmore mountain. read more
