Giving it four star review for the tavern at the hotel because of its view - the outdoor patio outlooks the mountains and I think it's worth it to come for a lunch. Food was okay. The chicken wings were delicious but the salads were not satisfying - the greens were not fresh but yellow and chewy, and the kitchen forgot to put the dressing on the side as requested. read more

We loved the keurig bar right across the hall from us. The sauna was stunning. Other amenities were a little dated but still nice to have! Dinner was delicious. The French onion soup was some of the best I have ever had. Dave was an exceptional server. Kind, attentive, and made amazing recommendations. The breakfast however, was not as good sadly. It was included with our stay but we did not enjoy it. Other than that, this hotel is beautiful mountain retreat. I definitely recommend. read more

Very difficult to get a decent night's sleep here - walls and ceilings are extremely thin. Additionally, during our stay, the hotel was catering to two bus tour groups whose guests perhaps didn't realize how voices carry (at 6:30 am laughing and chatting at the elevator and coffee pantry just outside our door). It would be a very simple measure to have signage by the elevator reminding guests of "quiet hours" I.e. 11pm to 7 am. Unable to recommend for this reason. Landscaping was lovely, however! read more

We came here as part of a tour and I loved every single second. The beds are very comfortable and rooms are well appointed. The game room downstairs, with the heated pool and jacuzzi with beautiful views are amazing. We enjoyed a drink by the fire later in the evening. Spotlessly clean. Beautiful landscaping everywhere you look. There are guest stations on each floor with a fully stocked keurig to make either a coffee for your room or a coffee to go. The tavern is adorable and the bartenders are pleasant and knowledgeable. Breakfasts come with a room stay- and the blueberry pancakes are hands down the best I've ever had. Dinner- well dinner was simply amazing. Best meal we have had in a very long time. I will leave the review of the restaurant (the ledges) separately. We quickly resolved to return with the family. Awful! We were a group of 12 (6 couples) in our 60s and we were spoken to like children regarding drinking and eating at the pool. No signs posted, and not only did they reprimand us, they did it 5 separate times. First time was no alcohol, 2nd time was no food, 3rd time was both no alcohol and no food however others at the pool had alcohol and food but in cups. 4th time was someone coming down to make sure we weren't upset. Yeah right...we were more than upset! And finally, some young 25-27 year old kid thought he was the "MAN" (more like a weasel), and came down and spoke to us like we were children. I think he should be fired or reprimanded and the management needs to stop hiding behind their employees and come and speak to us themselves. Instead the management walked around near us while they sent their employees down to speak to us. Really? Absolute disgrace they way they treated us. Been going there for years and all of a sudden these rules are in place with no signs anywhere??? And dinner....well let's just say the prime rib was horrible. And we were not the only ones who sent it back. Other people did the same. So the management took a meal off the bill...HA! One meal off and one free meal another time on a $700+ bill. This is how you run your hotel? Well, they won't have to worry about it any longer, because we won't be back ever again. read more

Read about this hotel in the Boston Sunday Globe and decided to book a two-night stay beginning on Valentine's Day. Our experience exceeded all expectations. The suite we booked (Presidential) was clean and comfortable and all of our dining experiences at the hotel were top-notch. My partner booked a room for our anniversary and we checked in on 11/23 with a dinner reservation at The Ledges that evening. Our room #202 shared a door with the adjacent suite and we were rudely awakened before 6am the following day, by a screaming child and it's parents- who continued to make noise until they left the room at 9am. We were never able to return to sleep. For the amount of money that we spent on the room, in the bar and at the restaurant all that the staff was able to do, was refund us $25. read more

This place has SO much potential. The location is gorgeous, it's cozy when you first walk in and the big fireplace is going - so idyllic. It's clear the rooms have been updated, and they look so cute. There's a gym, a supposed spa (more on that in a sec), and a restaurant. BUT. 1) Rooms: I paid for a room with two queens. They were definitely full size beds. Comfortable, but full size. The walls are paper thin and the hallways could do with signs asking people to keep their voices down. 2) Gym: some cardio machines and one multifunctional machine but no free weights. 3) Restaurant: food is decent but it is severely understaffed. Despite making reservations for the 4 times we went (breakfasts and dinners), we weren't seated on time even once. On one night, we waited an hour (despite having a reservation). Then we waited another hour for dinner to arrive. Staff doesn't appear to be properly trained (service was pretty lacking, bussers taking away plates that still had food on them, no one asking how the food was after the first few bites (or at all) so I couldn't tell them my meal was missing the veg it was supposed to have come with). 4) Spa: there is no spa. It is a hotel room on the third floor that's got two massage tables in it. The massage I had was *fantastic* but there was such a lack of communication - I checked in and was told about the "spa" but never actually told where it was, so on the day of my appointment I went all over looking for it and finally asked the front desk who said it was on the third floor. Not a big deal but could've had some signs up, as there are signs for the gym and restaurant but not for the spa. In short, the stay I had was worth half of what I was charged. I wish the front desk staff had asked how our stay was. I wish there had been a manager at the restaurant to help the few servers who were working. I wish the gym had free weights. Anyway. Its cute, close to hiking and the little town nearby but I wouldn't stay here again. read more

We had an excellent dinner there the other night. The food was very tasty and the waiter, Evan, was excellent. He was a testament to the facility. The only drawback is that we were seated right next to the piano player. He was fine but the music was too loud for us to enjoy chatting with each other and since it was a 50th anniversary party, we would have liked to speak to our other table mates/family. I was so excited to stay here and am sadly disappointed. I hate to post a bad review but that's all I've got right now. The rooms are decent but I have a gripe with everything else. They, as most establishments, are short staffed and overwhelmed. I get that, but please figure something out. I planned to spend the day at the resort for lunch and a massage appointment while the family went skiing. Treating myself to Balance Spa at The White Mountain hotel - but mentioning the word spa is a very far cry from the general hotel guest room that has two massage tables and a few salt lamps. I was deeply disappointed! I should have done my research. At spa prices, I assumed it was going to be a typical "spa experience". It was weird. Thankfully, the masseuse, Lanette, was terrific. Sadly, twasn't any food to be had at the resort since 10am when the breakfast ended. At 2:00, the woman at the front desk said lunch was closed today but the tavern would open for a limited menu at 3, but then the next person said it was open at 4...then when I went back again I was told no food because of a private party!!!! Nobody was on the same page. Unfortunately, none of the other food places in town could accommodate take out orders because everywhere so busy. I was left with the vending machine for a snack. The hotel food service here was ridiculous. Even with a 7:00 reservation at the Legends restaurant, we were warned that there was a very good chance that the kitchen would get overloaded with the large party that was seated and that she(manager) would have to close down the kitchen before seating anyone again. At this point I was starving. I asked if we could finally order some appetizers to have them ready for when we would be seated and she informed me that they were not offering any appetizers, just the entrees! After all of that waiting and getting the run around!!!!! I hadn't eaten all day! It made for an overall disappointing day for me. The family loved the skiing though. Overall, the staff seem very overwhelmed. Other repeat guests have mentioned that it wasn't like this in the past. They are in dire need of some help. I wish it wasn't on my dime. This is not a place I would come back to. I cannot recommend. :( read more

Spent $323 for 1 night here to NOT sleep. The location is why this Hotel & Resort is so busy. The views are great, but be prepared to not sleep. There are kids everywhere and naturally they run and scream in the hallways on every floor, the lobby, the pool area, the gym, the room, everywhere. We did voice our concerns multiple times to staff but there's too many kids in this hotel for them to monitor. Think twice if you want this to be a romantic getaway. The walls, floors, ceilings do not have any noise insulation so you will hear everything including the people above you walking or in our case stomping. You will also hear when they shower and water running. The room is out dated, bring your laptop, it will be bigger than the TV in the room. This in my opinion is something the Management Team needs to address: updating the Hotel, put some money back into it. Obviously anyone who comes up to North Conway spends most of the day skiing, golfing, hiking, or shopping/dinners, so the whole "well we won't be in the room that much" could work and that's what we did...just be prepared to not sleep after being busy doing stuff all day. My husband and I recently stayed at White Mountain for our anniversary. We booked the Spa Package which included a couples massage, dinner, and complimentary breakfast each day. We had the best time! The Massage with CBD Oil was beyond relaxing. The food was AMAZING and as someone who eats 100% Gluten-Free, I was happy to see many GF options on the menu--they also have vegan and vegetarian options! The outdoor pool overlooking the mountains was dreamy. We barely wanted to leave the hotel. Staff was friendly, patient, kind, and personable. We enjoyed shopping and scenic views while in the area. This is a great place to stay. Some critiques I would offer are: the room we stayed in shared a door with a suite. This made for little privacy-we could hear conversations, children yelling, movement, etc. It was hard to relax with this disturbance. Also, we noticed rust on the salt shaker. However, we did not say anything about these issues and we are sure they would be resolved if brought attention to! Overall, this trip was perfect for what we wanted, affordable too! Myself, daughter, SIL, and grandson visited for the first time this year for a three-night stay and absolutely loved the resort. The hotel is beautiful, clean, and comfortable. The staff was inviting, friendly, and helpful - especially the front desk team. And the views!!! Oh myyyy, the views are just picture perfect. We enjoyed the restaurant as well, but I took a star off this review due to the interaction we had with the house pianist. During our first evening, we went for a late dinner after traveling almost three hours to get to the resort. My 2-year-old grandson was a bit excitable being in a new place, so we put his favorite show on the phone with the volume turned down so as not to bother anyone around us. It most definitely was not loud at all, especially since it was keeping his own toddler noises at bay. The pianist took it upon himself to come to our table and ask us to "turn the music down" on the phone as it was interrupting his piano playing. It MOST CERTAINLY was not. We felt him to be extremely rude and condescending. It bothered us enough that we limited our meals at the restaurant for the rest of the stay. read more

Idyllic spot for a hotel, with gorgeous scenery. We were there in "mud season", so North Conway wasn't exactly crowded anyway, but I imagine during peak ski and leaf peeper seasons it would be nice to get away from town and just enjoy the peace and tranquility offered at the White Mountain Hotel after a busy day of adventure skiing, hiking or shopping in the big outlet center. The décor may be a little antiquated for some, and classic for others. Our room looks like it was last done in the late 80s/early 90s. Lot of brass light fixtures and marble tiles in the shower weren't in best of shape, but it was very clean. One part of our carpeting felt like the underpad was breaking down, as there was a saggy depression. But overall it was a comfortable room. We were on the third (top) floor, with a stunning distant mountain view, including Cranmore ski resort. Couldn't get a good picture due to clouds and window screen, but we were treated to a nice sunrise over the mountains on our last morning. I liked being able to open the windows for some fresh air. Not a feature in most modern hotels. Even with the heat off, the room tended to be warm and stuffy at night, so opening the windows was great. Staff were very friendly. Chatted with housekeeping staff both mornings. And front desk staff were very welcoming when we arrived. Leah checked us in. Our room rate included complimentary full breakfast both days, but we opted to upgrade to the Sunday brunch (at Ledges Restaurant) on our second morning. Discounted from $19 each to $10 each. She made particular note that the complimentary breakfast didn't include gratuity, but the brunch did, and asked that we make sure we take care of our server. One gets the impression that people aren't tipping. No excuse for that unless there's a problem with service or people are stingy. During the weekend of our stay a local music school was having a fundraiser with 24 hours of music by the faculty and students in the ballroom (including a music composition competition) and a silent auction. Some of the very talented students put on a jazz performance during brunch on Sunday. Nice to see the hotel supports arts in the community. read more

We've been staying here for many years now. Nice place with a beautiful view and great location. Has been going downhill. Blame is put on covid but it has been going on long before that. Short staffed all around. Stayed in a 2 king bed suite. Only get 2 sets of linens. Have to call for additional towels,etc. No daily housekeeping Restaurant seems to be overwhelmed. Standing in line to wait for seating even with reservations 15 minutes easy. No linen on beat up tables. Hostesses are seating, setting and bussing tables. The daily bus tours seem to take priority over regular guests. Overall, pricey for what you get. read more

Great North Conway hotel! The décor in the lobby is pretty outdated but that is pretty par for the course for the area. The beds were comfortable and the room and bathroom were very clean. I do wish they had a bit of a bigger pool/hot tub. People were always in the hot tub and you had to almost wait for a bit of a clearing to snag yourself a spot. Heated pool is definitely appreciated since North Conway can be cool even in the summer. I will also agree with other reveiwers, that this place is nice and quiet and not filled to the brim with screaming children. The have a complimentary continental breakfast but, with so many good breakfast places in the area continental did not exactly strike my fancy. But, if you are in a big rush to get places this could be a great option for you. The wifi was not good at all so that was not great. The area that the hotel is on is beautiful. They have flowers everywhere which I always find is a nice friendly touch and the view of the mountains is great! I found the hotel on Sniqueaway and got a great price! If you are thinking about this hotel be sure to keep your eyes open for deals. read more

Stayed for three nights in the Washington Suite right after getting married. Overall I would recommend! The pros are all in the critical things, and the cons are all ignorable. Pros: ~ The views are as good as advertised. Great views throughout the property, especially from the dining room. 180 degree mountain panorama from the Washington Suite. ~ The location is great. ~ The food is very good, both breakfast and dinner. ~ The bed was super comfy. ~ The outdoor pool, hot tub, and fire pits are a nice way to unwind. Cons: ~ The room is dated, and this is the most expensive room in the building. I had to physically move the entire bed and then crawl around on my hands and knees just to be able to plug in my phone next to the bed. (Like everyone else, my phone is my alarm clock. They should know this.) The room has no fridge, which is kind of a huge oversight for the finest suite in the building. There's an ancient iHome iPod-docking station that no working iPod on earth could plug into. The desk is too small to put a laptop onto unless you move all the coffee stuff onto the floor first. There's an old HD TV but no HD channels so everything looks terrible. These are all things that on the one hand don't matter much but on the other hand they give you this sense that nobody's paying attention to details, because they're all easy to fix and would make the place seem much nicer. ~ There are other things around the hotel that aren't critical but just make it seem tired. There's a little game room where 2 of the 3 arcade games are out of order and have probably been sitting there like that for 10 years. It doesn't really matter, I wasn't going to play them anyways, but to me this just creates a sense of sadness about the place. All the awards displayed for golf and food throughout the hotel seem to be from the early 2000s or before. The decor in the hotel and in the rooms, and even the menu items themselves, all remind me of Mad Men... kind of a 1960's chic. Sorta cool, sorta tired at the same time. read more

I do not recommend staying at this hotel. We found 6 large stink bugs all over our room, among other bugs. We called the front desk who sent someone up to "vacuum them". Two staff members told us finding these bugs is not uncommon for this area, and no one seemed to be concerned. We also found toilet paper jammed into a crack in the window, however this was also not addressed. After again reporting our discomfort about staying in this room, the options we were very rudely provided were to leave the hotel at 9:00 at night, or be relocated to a different, downgraded room. There was no "guarantee" we would not find more bugs, because we were told "we can't predict where they go". Additionally, mask wearing in the lobby and around the hotel was not reinforced. New Year's Day brunch is a family tradition. The dining room has a gorgeous view of the surrounding mountains, so the view alone makes the brunch worth it. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time if you are a larger group, or if the skiing is good. In addition to the buffet you can also order Eggs Benedict, pancakes, bagels,and waffles. Brunch doesn't include bloodys or mimosas either, so you'll have to pay an extra $6 for those. The breakfast offering this year was very large. It included a waffle station, omelette station, grand marnier French toast (!!!), caramel cheese blintzes, bacon, sausage, carving station with prime rib and turkey, Greek frittata, Beef Wellington, multiple salads, fruit, antipasto, smoked salmon, seafood casserole, southern stuffed chicken, mashed potatoes, white asparagus, and a plethora of desserts.
