Koko is BACK!!!! Food as I remember it from the original Koko's on Vanowen and Woodman from many years ago. Went there for lunch, and got a lunch special beef kabob. Exceptionally tender and perfectly cooked with deep flavors. Also ordered tabouli and it was exceptionally fresh. My favorite Armenian kebab restaurant with a Syrian twist to it. Their food here is amazing. Fresh meats, excellent seasonings, and great portions that fills your stomach. The prices are also reasonable. Some of the best things I've had here include their antakali kebab, dema kebab, chicken kebab, and steak kebab. Even their salads here are great as well. Go here. My wife and I love this place. The food is delicious. We have tried almost everything and loved it all. We are not Arabic so I cannot speak to the authenticity of it all, but the flavors are all there. The atmosphere is casual, you are in a shopping center after all. The service is prompt and friendly albeit very casual and a bit unprofessional. But you will overlook that quickly because they are always smiling and very quick. The good is prepared perfectly, the portions are generous and they arrive quickly. I know the restaurant says "kebab" in his name but part we there were a few other dishes mixed in for variety. But this is not a knock on this restaurant. We have been here with our three children on numerous occasions. They are always very nice and thoughtful with the kids, making a point to welcome them and greet them. Also, the kids love the food here as well. I highly recommend giving this place a shot and overlook the casual demeanor of the service staff. They mean well. We will gladly come back. read more

Best mediterranean food I have ever had. And FYI it's on Sepulveda and Sherman Way, not Van Nuys / Sherman Way. I shared two combo plates with my girlfriend to-go - we had chicken, beef, lula, and lamb kebabs, and each were delicious. I've had a lot of good mediterranean food in the valley and I was completely blown away by the quality of the food was here. All of the meat was flavorful, tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked (even as a to-go plate). When I got home my beef kebabs were still nice and pink in the middle and nothing had acquired any chewiness even after the 15 minute drive home. I can't wait to sit down and eat here because that means it's even better fresh. They also give an assortment of pickled vegetables - radish, cabbage, and a whole (homemade?) pickle as well as a jalapeno and deliciously spiced thinly cut onion. Even these sides were exceptional. On the plate on top of the meat you are served seasoned pita, which is a first for me (it was so good). They were also generous enough to give us an additional side of regular pita wrapped in foil. I'm not sure if this is because we ordered hummus, but it was nice of them. The garlic sauce and hummus were also very good. My favorite hummus may still be Pita Kitchen, but the way all the flavors came together here was perfect in its own right. This has turned into my go-to mediterranean restaurant after just one go. Worst kebab place EVER! Ordered their Chicken Breast Kebab Wrap and it came extremely raw. Told the server about it and she took it back. I heard the chef yell "what happened?... Oh ok... No no throw it away!" So I thought "oh wow props to the chef" but then when she brought the wrap out a second time I saw that it was cut in half, the meat was cut up into tiny pieces and covered in charcoal , the bread was soggy, and there was no garlic spread on it. Clearly they didn't throw it away... Try better next time if you're gonna trick your customers. We also ordered fattoush, grape leaves, and hummus all of which were not worth the price. The parking is such a disaster, if you miss that first shopping center you have to go all the way around (sherman way is the worst for u turns, not allowed anywhere) so if you miss it the first time it takes an additional 5 min just to get back into the place. Got the Lula kebab lunch special, they don't have chicken only beef which is a bummer. I specifically wanted to pick this place because I thought since it was Persian food, the rice would be Persian style rice. Wrong, mushy rice. The meat was pretty good, the pickled vegetables were served under the rice which made them hot and not pleasant to eat. Also they placed the bread on top of the rice so by the time you eat your food the bread is completely mushy and inedible. Would not come back. This was a very disappointing experience. The services was so bad and I cannot believe the waitress attitude. It is like she was doing us a favor. The food was dry and nothing to brag about. The waitress was from Syria and major attitude. She didn't even say hello when she approached the table or ask us anything other than are you ready to order within 2 minutes after she sat us down on the table. Oh and if you use your credit card they charge. We were not told you anything about being charged to use a CC. Are you kidding me!!! At least say something beforehand. Yelp has the wrong address on it's map. The restaurant is located in a small plaza off of Sepulveda, on Sherman way. There is plenty of parking in the plaza right out front. The place is very inviting and "homey" inside with a chill vibe. My waitress, Janet, was very attentive. I knew even before ordering that I wouldn't be disappointed. I ordered the chicken breast kabob plate with individual side orders of Mouhamara and the Fattoush Salad. This all came with a plate of pickled turnips, cabbage, one large pickle, one large green pepper and radishes as well as grilled pita bread. The lowdown: - the pickle plate was generous and delicious - the cabbage was my favorite! (I'm a pickle/pepper kind of gal, so this matters to me. Oh, and for you spice weenies, ask them to leave that green pepper off the plate - it's HOT!) - the pita bread...oh, heaven. I wish every restaurant that serves pita bread would just lightly grill/warm it like they do here - makes all the difference in the world! (cold pita = meh) - the garlic sauce (served with the plate) is outrageous; please don't skip this unless you really hate garlic. - the Fattoush Salad was perfect with large slices of cucumber and tomatoes, along with lots of crunchy pita chips and that insanely addictive lemon dressing. Very fresh & perfectly made. If you love lemon, definitely try this. - the Mouhamara - oh, good grief! I'm running out of adjectives! Get it...just do it, trust me. It looks like dull red mush, but tastes so good, your tongue does a happy dance in your mouth. I have finally found a place that absolutely rivals Carousels in Glendale with this specialty dip. My mouth is watering just typing about it! - the chicken kebab was super moist, well seasoned, and perfectly cooked - very flavorful and very generous in portion. I want to try other entrees on their menu when I go back, but honestly, I could just get this plate every time. AND, I took well over half home and ate it for breakfast and lunch today (yes, I woke up ready for all that flavor again first thing in the morning!) - Rice - so many places blow it when it comes to the rice and you just end up with a bland white pile that can only be eaten with lots of seasoning. Not here...nope...here the rice is creamy (although it did not taste buttered - perhaps a little olive oil?), lightly salted (very lightly, but for those of you watching your salt, do not add any) and, honestly, is a standalone. I could just order the Fattoush, Mouhamara and a side of rice for a perfect vegan meal if I wanted to! To say I enjoyed my food here is an understatement. I ordered Anitkali and they brought me khash and the waiter argued that's what I ordered, I've never heard of khash before so I couldn't have ordered, anyway the meat was greasy so were the bread, hello high cholesterol. I wouldn't go there unless you like greasy food. Delicious food, very humble place, wish they extend their business hours to a later hour over the weekends.

This place is excellent and a place I plan to stop at whenever I'm in the area. My sister and I were on a road trip to San Diego and stopped in Van Nuys to sleep and hang out in the next day. First of all, the service was amazing and everyone that worked there (from the busser to our waitress (Janet) to other waitresses) were all accommodating and happy to help. My sister and I are both on the classic keto diet and can only eat 20 net carbs per day. As a result, we are very particular about what we eat and have to ask for modifications. Janet was very accommodating, letting us know that she and a fellow staff member are on a diet of their own and understand how difficult it is. We ate from a special lunch menu which is only available 11am to 3pm Tuesday through Friday. For $12, you had your choice of a kebab and either 2 side dishes (banaganoush, hummus,etc) or one side dish and a soda. Each meal also came with a grilled tomato slice, onions, assorted veggies (pickles, pickled turnips and cabbage, a beet and a jalapeno). And, because we could not eat pita, Janet and the crew was kind enough to provide us with lettuce wraps inatead. The beef skewers are awesome. If you are on a keto diet like us, for the side I strongly recommend the Babaganoush (made put of eggplant and tahini) which is much more keto friendly than hummus (made from beans) yet still packs all of the flavor. The best part of the experience was eating flavorful food that was keto friendly. It felt good to honor our diet but chow down and live what we're eating. My sister went bonkers over this place and kept raving about it as we drove to San Diego and even told my other sister about it once we got there. Whether or not your on a keto diet, I would recommend this place but I especially recommend it if you are! read more
