    so much food

My foodie friends told mom and I to try this place because of their pickled veggies and rice. When we arrived, we were seated immediately. We shared the lamb with rice, chicken, fries, and boreg. Oh My God were my friends right. My mouth was so happy. The meat was just meat. Definitely delicious, but my heart belongs to the rice, fries, and boreg. That rice was so buttery. Wonderful comfort food. The boreg was the best I've ever had. They add peppers inside, so it's more than just a fried cheese. Wonderful! I'm not normally a shoestring fry person, but these were perfect. Not overly crispy, but not a soggy mess either. Our waitress was also so attentive and super passionate about the food. I want to come back.

The food here is some of the best! We had the chicken breast kebab, steak kebab, cheese plate and labneh. My husband and nephew both had the baklava and tea after our dinner. The chicken is always nice and juicy, their rice is some of the best I've ever had. Steak is cooked perfectly. The service is always spectacular. The location is clean, a little on the smaller side. The restrooms are always spotless. Which is huge for us.

A while back, I was at a car dealership and I met a Middle Eastern gentleman who was very entertaining. During our long conversation, he mentioned Kebab Halebi.... so I had to check it out. this is a Syrian Mediterranean restaurant. We got cucumber salad and hummus (house made) for appetizers and then ordered the Adana kebab. This dish comes with four kebabs, and has as described, a special blend of ground, beef and lamb, seasoned and mixed with chopped jalapeños and red peppers and flame broiled on a skewer served with onion, tomato, pita and rice pilaf. The hummus was nice and silky, melted in your mouth. The cucumber salad was also very well done the kebabs had nice presentation and color, but were overcooked and dry to the tongue. I saw no jalapeños or red peppers. Service was swift and friendly.

My first time here! Always open to trying new Middle Eastern food!!! My sis said it was delicious. Well, she was correct. We ordered several plates so they separated each item. Looked like we were having a catered affair! Generous portion of rice, pita bread, pickled cabbage, Persian cucumbers and radishes. The chicken and beef come with the garlic spread as well which is yummy. So good to dip your meat or pita bread with. I am not a fan of the pickled veggies but my family likes them. (It's an acquired taste) Pick up is easy once you order online. Plenty of parking in the lot. Prices are moderate and you can eat inside if you prefer to be served.

It came with chicken wrap, French fries, "pickles" and garlic spread. I didn't try any extra garlic sauce. The wrap was tasty. I think some of the pickles were chopped up in the sauce? There was a crunch to the wrap. Oddly enough, I really liked the fries. My order was ready pretty quickly. By the time I took a few pictures it was ready. There was no one in line in front of me so my plate was prepared fresh. Walking by after eating at Velvet it was pretty busy inside and out. Inside was clean and very minimal table decor. I did this as a pickup run with the spot right next door, Brot. And honestly... I liked Brot more. This place has always been weird to me because I walk past it almost daily. Sometimes it's kinda busy, and sometimes it's literally just four dudes standing outside smoking cigarettes. There's never really an in-between. They also keep adding more sidewalk tables which makes it feel like they're expecting a crowd that never fully arrives. This is definitely more street-food energy than restaurant energy. You're basically eating with your hands outside on Hollywood Blvd and there's nowhere to wash up beforehand, which honestly matters less if you're doing takeout anyway. I also kinda wonder if the neighboring spots share stuff with each other because some things looked suspiciously similar. The fries looked basically identical between here and Brot, so who knows. That said, the food was still hot by the time I got home, which already puts it above a lot of pickup spots around here. But yeah... overall I still liked Brot more.

The filling was gooey and messy, but it had a very distinct flavor profile. Not too bad at all. Mini Spinach Pie (Raw spinach mixed with diced onion and sumac herb - 1 piece $2.00): It was not my cup of tea as it tasted very sour. *** A solid 3.5-star for the wrap, but bumped down due to inefficient service.
