The food here is some of the best! We had the chicken breast kebab, steak kebab, cheese plate and labneh. My husband and nephew both had the baklava and tea after our dinner. The chicken is always nice and juicy, their rice is some of the best I've ever had. Steak is cooked perfectly. The service is always spectacular. The location is clean, a little on the smaller side. The restrooms are always spotless. Which is huge for us.

A while back, I was at a car dealership and I met a Middle Eastern gentleman who was very entertaining. During our long conversation, he mentioned Kebab Halebi.... so I had to check it out. this is a Syrian Mediterranean restaurant. We got cucumber salad and hummus (house made) for appetizers and then ordered the Adana kebab. This dish comes with four kebabs, and has as described, a special blend of ground, beef and lamb, seasoned and mixed with chopped jalapeños and red peppers and flame broiled on a skewer served with onion, tomato, pita and rice pilaf. The hummus was nice and silky, melted in your mouth. The cucumber salad was also very well done the kebabs had nice presentation and color, but were overcooked and dry to the tongue. I saw no jalapeños or red peppers. Service was swift and friendly.

My first time here! Always open to trying new Middle Eastern food!!! My sis said it was delicious. Well, she was correct. We ordered several plates so they separated each item. Looked like we were having a catered affair! Generous portion of rice, pita bread, pickled cabbage, Persian cucumbers and radishes. The chicken and beef come with the garlic spread as well which is yummy. So good to dip your meat or pita bread with. I am not a fan of the pickled veggies but my family likes them. (It's an acquired taste) Pick up is easy once you order online. Plenty of parking in the lot. Prices are moderate and you can eat inside if you prefer to be served.

Everything tasted like it had more butter or oil than necessary, and by the end of the meal I felt weighed down. Persian food is often rich, but this crossed the line into feeling overly greasy, which took away from the quality of the ingredients. The zereshk polo and kebab both would have benefited from a lighter touch. The fresh naan was excellent, and I can understand why this place has a loyal following. It's also a good value considering the portion sizes, especially in Los Angeles. Overall, I can see why many people enjoy International Market Grill, but it wasn't quite for me. If you like very rich, hearty Persian food, you'll probably leave satisfied. I personally prefer a cleaner, less heavy preparation. So while I'm glad I tried it, I'm not sure I'd order from here again.

That's why I was excited to bring my girlfriend and her friend here today. Unfortunately, this experience was completely different. Our waiter, Amir, barely checked on our table. His greeting and every interaction with us felt monotone, rushed, and completely lacking any warmth. There wasn't a single smile or welcoming gesture throughout the meal. At one point, I walked to the restroom and, on my way back, saw the same waiter enthusiastically speaking Farsi and providing attentive, friendly service to several other tables. The contrast between how those tables were treated and how we were treated was impossible to ignore. Based on my experiences here, it certainly felt like customers who are Persian or speak Farsi receive a much warmer level of service than those who don't. The food is still good, but service is a big part of the dining experience. I left disappointed, especially after recommending this place to others. Unless you speak Farsi or are Persian expect mediocre to poor service. This shoutout is for you Amir! Hopefully management reads this review.

Going to this restaurant is like being welcomed into a family member's home with open arms and a genuine smile (and for some a hug) when you've arrived unexpectedly. Today I was there because I was picking up food to take to a family member who's recovering from a heart attack. He and his wife live in El Monte. Carnival has NEVER disappoints, and today was no exception. I ordered chicken shawarma sandwiches, tabbouleh, hummus and fries, I couldn't resist. The takeout packaging was packaged so well that it traveled beautifully from Sherman Oaks to El Monte. The food was wonderfully warm when I arrived. Both of my relatives praised the deliciousness the food. The sandwiches are so big and generously filled that we cut them in half. The service has always been friendly, and one of my favorite things about this restaurant is the people it brings together. During a weekday lunch, you'll hear English, Arabic, Armenian, and Hebrew all being spoken in the same dining room. It's a reminder that good food has a way of bringing people from all walks of life together. I wish the world mirrored this environment. The only thing I miss is the original décor. Before the remodel, the walls were decorated with beautiful photographs of Lebanon that gave the restaurant so much character. The updated space is clean, but it feels a little plain in comparison. If you're visiting on a weekend, expect a wait because this place is popular. Be sure to save room for the homemade baklava. I also appreciate that they're one of the few restaurants in Los Angeles that serves Coke Zero. This is one of those places I keep coming back to, and for good reason.

Now here's where you do yourself a solid. You order yourself the traditional Armenian mkhlu, and a Georgian temouri. Yes I know you can't pronounce these, but GG is polite and will not correct you. The mkhlu is a delicately spiced tomato omelet from his homeland, with lots of cilantro and paprika and delicate spices; and the tamouri is a very thin pizza with meat and cheese, again with incredible delicate spicing. There are certainly more expensive restaurants in LA, but I'm telling you from the bottom of my Yelp Elite status, that GG's tiny, clean little hole in the wall, is the best restaurant in Los Angeles right now.
