I have used Keeping Time Clocks for many years. I wouldn't trust my 1748 Grandfather clock made in London to anyone else. The clock was brought to this country in 1751 by my family, so it's precious to me. All it takes is one phone call to get fast and friendly service to my home. If one was to look at my clock they probably would not be impressed. However, the sentimental value for us is what is important. My clock was broken, whatever the pendulum attaches to had broken. Off I go to Keeping Time Clocks. My clock was looked at and fixed in a matter of minutes, unbelievable! Returning home so quickly my wife thought the clock could not be repaired. The smile on my face told her a different story. Like they say it is the little things in life that are important. I have an old-time clock, where one punches a timecard into the clock that hasn't worked for years. Of course, that clock is now sitting at Keeping Time Clocks waiting for repair. I've been to Randy for at least five years for regular service of batter in my watches (expensive Swiss) and for speciality work (which he farms out) such an old pocket watches. The work has been properly and at a very fair price. I frequented him at his former location several years ago on Wickham Road. I've also had work done at a kiosk in the Melbourne Mall. The work is very good, but they are not bashful with price. I feel badly for the person whose interior of a new watch was messed up. I would agree that Randy is not much of a people person and can't apologize. We can only relate our own experiences, and if one is bad, then it's bad. I would not recommend, however, staying away from him based on the experience of others. read more

I called Keeping Time for an appointment to set up my grandfather clock, unsure if I even had everything I needed. MR ERIC asked about the clock, reviewed what I wanted done and asked for pictures and workings of the clock. He told me how to hang the weights. He told me how to attach the pendulum, and gently swing it. THE CLOCK WORKED!!! He then sent You tube links on how to set the clock, and adjust the chains and weights. This was a person who loves clocks and had a passion to serve! Several phone calls, his patient instruction and sending links for me to follow were above and beyond. I am very disappointed that there is a business in Melbourne in this day and age that would give such bad service. At our first meeting during the last week in July I was very impressed with Randy being he was a Shih Tzu lover and he was very friendly. I left him my cuckoo clock and told him that one of the chains had come off the wheel on the clock. I asked him how long and the prize and he told me that he did not know. I also requested a visit to my home in Barefoot Bay to fix my grandfather clock which he did as he promised but did not bring my clock. I asked him again and he said that he needed the ticked number. I gave him the ticket number and my phone number. I called the store several times and even stopped in. He told me he would call when done but never did.Twice his shop was closed when I went there and he always had an excuse when I called. Finally on October 21 I called him and told him that I was coming in to pick up my clock, fixed or not fixed. When I arrived my clock was fixed and he charged me 95.00. He also did not tell me that there was a 3.50 charge for not paying cash. I truly feel that I was ripped off. Let's start with the good. The owner will replace your watch battery for $5.00. That is if he has the parts and doesn't strip the screws trying to open your watch. DO NOT GO HERE pay the extra money and go somewhere where people will take accountability and provide service. I went to get two watch batteries replaced. I was not given a disclaimer that there could be damage to the watches prior to handing over the watches. I went to pick up the watches and only one had been replaced. The other he didn't have the battery for, fine. I went elsewhere where I found that 3 of the 4 screws in the back of my watch had been stripped. This is a brand new watch and has never been opened. When I called to inform the owner of the findings he blamed the "cheap screws" and offered no apologies. Very unprofessional. If you do not believe you can change a battery without possible damage then (1) you need to inform the customer or (2) decline the service. After I issued my concerns his response was "whatever" and later he threatened not to replace watch batteries anymore because there are always cheap screws. I think it'll be for the better if he does not, but hey I suggested selling quality screws and replacing the "cheap screws" as a business venture. He didn't seem to take to the idea. If you call the store he'll refer you to his online website for store hours. These hours are not correct. As of today he is closed Thursday and Friday and open 9-5 the rest of the week. Once brought to his attention he said "it wouldn't matter anyways" to change his website. I cannot speak for his clock sales, repairs, or clock business. read more

BEWARE! I have never been so ripped off in my life. 7 months waiting for 2 clocks to be fixed and $345 later both returned and still not working properly. One of them not working at all. Neither of them was touched, but charged for just the same. The owner is rude and nasty and a liar. He thinks he is the only game in town but do yourself a favor, find an alternative. TERRIBLE, the owner seemed really nice when I dropped off my cuckoo clock and told me it would take a week. WEEKS later I finally went back after I heard nothing even after multiple phone calls. With what seemed like a nice business turned out to be a scam business. I bought an original Cuckoo in December, the owner stated ok give me a few weeks I'll clean it up and fix it for $60. After a few weeks I called, no answer. Waited a bit tried again no answer. About a month later I went to business owner stated sorry been busy will get fixed. Long story short I made numerous calls and trips to business to actually doors locked. Finally in July went there, where he said ok fixed and cleaned. My fault didn't look NOTHING I MEAN NOTHING was done to it actually was in worse shape. Went back up there on a Saturday, opens at Noon, waited a bit nobody. Called no answer, left message. Went shopping for 2 hours came back NOTHING nobody there and yup you guessed it NO ANSWER on the phone. I am so disappointed, pissed off and down right appalled that he took my money and nothing was done. Now I have to find someone else and pay more. Only to get fixed. DO NOT go to this business for repair. It's a scam front. They don't even deserve a 1 star, then need a -10. read more

Dropped of a brass clock for repair 4 months ago (Oct 1, 2014). Never once received a call with status. I called weekly for update and was told repeatedly call back later. In December I called and was told that clock was ready for pickup and the bill was $250 (!) even though I had asked for a repair estimate before repairs were completed. When I went to pick up the clock I was then told that it was not there, that it was sent out because it was not working correctly. Again, two weeks have gone by and have not hear a word. Called today and said I was coming in to get my clock and was told that it was not there. I have filed a Better Business Bureau complaint and still don't know if I will ever see my clock again. read more
