Amazing experience at this establishment!. Literally the best steak I've had in my life. It was perfectly cooked, seared, and juicy. I had the 12 oz ribeye cooked medium well. It was flavorful from beginning to end. Paired with their house salad and fries, it was a culinary experience not to be missed. 3 stars (was tempted to give 2) for being the most inconsistent, back-and-forth restaurant I've ever frequented. It's been a complete coin toss every time I've visited as to whether I'm going to have a wonderful or terrible time. On the good days, everything is as expected, service is prompt, the food is good, etc. etc. The steaks are quality, as are the burgers. On the bad days though, it's usually really bad. One notable example I feel I have to give: we arrived at 4:30, were seated immediately, but no one came by for 25 minutes, at which point we flagged down the first server we could find who informed us that "the server for your section isn't here yet" (then why seat us there?????) Then, when someone finally came by to take our order, they brought the wrong appetizer and a ribeye instead of the filet we ordered. The manager eventually stopped by to comp the steak, which is the only reason I'm giving 3 stars instead of 2. This is just one example of many times where either the food, service, or both have been lacking. Needless to say, don't bank on necessarily having a good time here unless you have some kind of good karma going on from helping an old lady across the street or something to boost your odds of a good experience. read more

A client suggested Sully's to me a few years ago, and since then I've eaten here countless times. I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience. The staff is always friendly and attentive, the food comes out hot and flavorful, and the prices are very fair. My go-to lunch dish is the beef tips -- always tender steak with onions, peppers, and rich gravy. Absolutely delicious every time. Dinner on Monday 12/9/24. On a work trip so this stop was solo. Live music just inside the front door to the left, solo performer was really good! I grabbed an open seat at the bar, it was fairly busy. Bartender was a guy, he was friendly and knowledgeable of the bourbons and food menu. I enjoy the blackened Mahi with a side rice and gravy. When we first got in we had to wait for a table for over an hour-half, then when we finally got to our table, and ordered our drinks and food, our waiter disappeared for over 2 hours and we still didn't have our food yet. I believe Sully's has violated the ADA guidelines by not reserving 5% tables for handicapped & not allowing handicapped to be seated at available tables that are handicapped accessable. It does no good to have handicapped parking but make handicapped patrons walk to the far away bar tables when nearby restaurant tables are empty, clean & available or require handicapped patrons to take high tables with chairs that handicapped patrons cannot climb up on. Obviously, the Management does not care to correct or address what I consider their ADA violations as no one has responded to my written concerns for over a month. read more

Today was a bad day. The food was terrible. From the overcooked filets to the chicken bites that were fried hard. Two Teradactyl pork chops with no flavor. The mashed potatoes that were dry and gloopy with thick gravy that wasn't going to help anything. The only thing I enjoyed was the bang bang shrimp. Of course I bragged and set the bar high before we drove an hour with my parents who had already had a long drive. I thought it would be worth it. Today was not. The service was slow but she more than made up for that with her pleasant personality. She's just one person and she was doing her best. We aren't much on steakhouses, but we flat out loved our dinner experience at Sully's! Quite honestly, we were initially enticed by the remarkable history surrounding the 1889 fight nearby that was won by John L. Sullivan, but that is almost incidental compared to the food, service, and atmosphere. My wife had the 6 oz. filet with baked potato and I had the 12 oz. NY strip with grilled asparagus. Both of us commented it was probably the best steak we'd ever eaten: cooked perfectly rare, so juicy, so flavorful. Our sides were also perfect, fresh and tasty. Accompanying salads weren't quite as good, but better than side salads most places. The yeast rolls!!! Because of gluten intolerance my wife couldn't have one, so this is my first chance to rave about them. Very nice bottle of Josh Cabernet Sauvignon with dinner. And Kylah, our server, was just as good as the food she served, friendly, helpful, comfortable, and very efficient. Photos on the walls of the fight and the fighters elevate the feel of being somewhere special. My favorite place for steak, hands down! I've been to the one on the coast several times and wanted to visit this one so my wife and I went by when we were in town. It is quite popular and stays busy, so if you don't go during an off time, be prepared to wait for a table. The steaks have that perfect amount of char and seasoning that really makes them stand out, and they also have a nice thickness to them. The sides and all are good, but this place is known for its steaks. I also highly recommend saving room for dessert. They offer a variety of cheesecakes and when you order a slice they give you a giant piece meant to be shared. read more

Let me preface this by saying that I usually have good experiences at Sully's and I will be back. This time was just a fluke. CONS: * Sully's needs more interior light. It's a falling hazard for elderly people for sure and can be hard to navigate. It feels like a cave at night. It took a while for my eyes to adjust and the members of my party mentioned that it bothered them as well. *The place was incredibly loud. It sounded like a football stadium in there. I had to raise my voice every time I spoke to someone across our regular size table. It was insanely loud and hard to relax because of the noise. It was really hard to enjoy the meal without asking someone what they were saying three separate times. My party came in at 7:30. Maybe choose an earlier dinner if you want to avoid the extreme noise. *The filet special was really disappointing. I honestly really considered ordering something else, but I didn't as I had already eaten some of it and didn't want to wait for something different. The steak was dry (I got it medium), the potatoes were ehh, and I didn't even try the asparagus. The side salad was nice. It was definitely a letdown from what I expected. It wasn't good. It was also like $45. It was extremely disappointing. I got excited by how it was explained to me and it was a letdown. I also didn't realize that it was so expensive. I would have been much better off with a burger. Skip the filet special. *Prices. Be prepared to pay quite a bit for the food. For a party of four who got two specials, a steak, a normal (cheaper) menu item, and two desserts, the bill was $178 before a tip. (We tipped well, so it was much more than that.) Then again, I didn't think to ask how much the specials were. I will be sticking to the main menu from now on. While the food is good, it is definitely not a place I can afford to go to multiple times a month. (Please remember to tip your server well!) PROS: *Our waitress was FANTASTIC. She frequently filled our drinks, checked up on us, and got us everything we needed. * The flounder special was actually really good. The crust on the flounder was really good and complimented it. Someone at my table said it was a little dry, but not enough to dislike it. I got a bite and loved it. My only issue was the broccoli. It had way too much garlic and I couldn't taste much of the broccoli itself. *The beer rolls are really good. Pair them with cinnamon butter. Just do it. *The Banana Pudding Cheesecake is divine. I get it almost every time I come here. I could eat it all by myself. The slices they give are HUGE, and the cheesecake is delicious. I definitely recommend. My table got the lemon blueberry cheesecake as well, but it wasn't as good. Maybe it's just not for me. The others at the table liked it, but only ate about half. The banana pudding cheesecake was almost gone by the time we left. *Live music. My party was on the side opposite from the bar area, and we could still hear the live music. It sounded pretty good. *Even with the place packed like sardines, for four completely different and complex dishes my party waited only 25 minutes. My party is patient and wasn't in a hurry. I know this may seem like a lot of time to some people, but to me, it was quick service. The place was packed from wall to wall. Kudos to the kitchen staff. ***** Overall, I still recommend this place. Sully's has great food and great service. It honestly just depends on what food you get as to whether it will be good or not. Most of the food is really good and I have not ever really had any problems here. If you're sensitive to loud atmospheres, definitely get here earlier, as the louder and bigger crowds come in later. read more

This was a wild experience from the moment we walked into the door. The manager literally power walked over to us and aggressively got in my face in regards to my very obvious service dog. He proceeded to ask me for papers. There is no such thing as papers. The Americans with Disabilities Act clearly states that and he should have known as the manager. I informed him to look it up but he wasn't really listening and didn't seem to care. He came off very rude and fidgety like he had a power trip, was on drugs or maybe both. Food was extremely over priced for the quality and what you get. We ordered the south of the border egg rolls which were just okay. Longhorn's makes the same type of egg rolls but way better. We ordered the steak poboy at medium temp. It came out extremely under cooked. We ate the ends where it was Med-rare but did not touch the rare center. To claim as being a steak house it's really unfortunate to not be able to cook steak. Ordered the banana cheesecake. It had artificial flavoring and it was really subpar. For the price it should have had fresh banana slices and cream. As we were finishing our meal the table across from us started screaming and the lady got up. A roach crawled onto her while she was dining. Not a great finishing experience after all that happened. The server, bless her, was the only positive I can say about this place. read more

Hello, Asked the server, who then asked the cook, and then we were told that the cook does not use separate fryers for fish and fries. I seriously doubt that the owner knows what the cook is doing....unless they stand over them every day. Thank God the cook is honest about how they use the fryers. In addition, we were charged extra for getting green beans with burger instead of fries....that are cooked in same fryer as fish. We were meeting my sister at this restaurant for dinner. She had heard of good reviews of this restaurant. After we ate there, we talked about our experiences. My wife ordered the prime fillet butterfly well done with the mashed potatoes when it came out, it was not butterfly. It was only medium rare at best. It was sent back to the kitchen and when it came out the second time it was burnt and still not even well done. After that, she just that wasn't in a mood for it. I ordered the 20oz prime ribeye, it came out cooked correctly. My sister ordered the 16oz prime ribeye, it came out cooked, where it had a lots of fat and parts of it was overcooked. For the money spent, they are asking premium dollar for meat that is not being cooked correctly and a restaurant that is not fine dining. I ate at Southside Cafe the night before in Slidell and had a lot better experience than I had at this restaurant and they cooked it correctly for my wife and I. In Mandeville, Louisiana there is a restaurant called Gallagher's 527 they ask for the same prices of what this restaurant is asking and they are a lot better than Sully's restaurant. My sister ordered asparagus with her meal. She got five pieces of asparagus and it cost over six dollars and they weren't full length, just a little absurd! Female restroom has broken switches on the wall and the male restroom smelt of urine like it hasn't been cleaned in quite some time they need to do a better job of cleaning this place. I do not believe this is the best steak place in Hattiesburg if it is, this is sad. All three of us came to the conclusion before we left.
