The food was delicious for bar food. I had the shepherds pie which was definitely worth the money. The only down side, is it didn't come with a brown gravy. Other than that it was excellent and worth a try. Their waffle fries were crispy and my second favorite compared to chick-Fil-A. The service was the only thing about this place. It wasn't the best. I arrived here during the evening with a party of 7 to celebrate a friends birthday. We sat in a space that accompanied 7 people and were forced to leave unless we all ordered something to eat. 3 our of the 7 wanted to eat & still we were all forced to get a food and beverage. I have been coming here for years and have never came across this problem. The "server" was beyond rude showing no signs of professionalism, but the only way she was professional was telling us to leave nicely. My times spent here throughout the last couple of years was really enjoyable but after this incident none of the 7 will be returning & I will let others know as well about the service I was provided. read more

Came here on the recommendation of a coworker. I was not disappointed. We showed up on the rainiest of days to find a full bar...thankfully 3 patrons left a few minutes after we arrived so we able to seated, albeit squished. Definitely needs bar food. read more

The kitchen closed at 7, which was disappointing as I was pretty hungry. Luckily, the beers they had on tap were pretty light so I didn't get completely drunk, even though I did try 80 percent of them. Nice, open onto the street, bar; typical as a good beer stop. There's a really good selection of local breweries. Meanwhile, food served as, I'd say, extra to beers, is very tasty; waffle fries are my favorite. TVs to watch sports games. Really worth to drop for a good cold drink. $5 flights of beer: IPAs, Lagers, Ales, or Seasonals. The flights are less expensive than the pints and you get a variety! The food is pretty good too. I have eaten here for breakfast and have sampled the crispy steak fries at dinner. Very convenient location as it is just outside the Nassau stop on the G. One entire wall is covered old school beer cans and there are very few repeats. It's quite a collection and fun to look at them. I have never been here when it was crowded, even though it has several televisions for sports. I imagine it gets more packed on big games but I have never witnesses it. Just a nice, lazy, spot to get a drink and watch a game if you are interested. However, if you are not into sports, it doesn't make much difference; it's still a good spot. read more

We've been to Keg & Lantern a GAJILLION times since I wrote the original review. We have NEVER been disappointed by the food (or the beer). On more than one occasion, we have even eaten food and purchased more of the same thing to take home! The gumbo (AIYEEEE!!!!) (he uses duck fat in the roux) ...the greens . . . the Tuesday burger/beer special ... the BRUNCH . . . the grits & gravy . . . homemade sausage. Had the greatest experience with our bartender Ceara. She was helpful with the beers and gave us a little tidbit of info not available on the menu for everything we ordered. She also charged my phone for me without any hesitation. She was legitimately concerned with our experience here. We had the pulled pork fries (some if the best pulled pork I've ever had) and a few beers (including the Weis and a cinnamon raisin bagel brown ale). My local let me down. This place is normally very reliable. Great beer selection and satisfying bar menu, including a delicious burger and wings. HOWEVER, I went in the other night at 8pm with a Manhattan buddy touting this spot's praises for game 5 of the NBA Finals (1/2 off wing night, mind you) and had a rough experience. Even while sitting against the wall in the middle of the main room it took forever to track down the waitress to order beers. When we did it took her about 20 minutes to bring us the beers. We had ordered a bunch of wings with her initially. When she finally delivered the beer she said they were OUT OF STOCK of wings. On a game night. That's 1/2 off wings. The only reason for 4/5 is the fact that they use that stinky brand, Fabuloso to clean, while people are eating. My BF and I have been coming to this bar since before it gentrified and started doing its own brews, and it's seriously the best little local watering hole. The staff is always super chill and friendly, and they do a great job of making their regulars feel welcome. (Shoutout to Alex for always being willing to look for our US Soccer games!) Food is good, hearty bar food and the burgers are solid. Only complaint is that they should have more ciders on the list, and not just Magners! Saw good reviews for this place so decided to check it out. Firstly, the "Welcome Please Seat Yourself" sign needs to go. We walked in, and it was a decent crowd at the bar and at tables. Without someone there to greet people, if you just sit anywhere, you get lost in the mix..which was the case. It took about 10 minutes before someone even came over. Getting an employees attention wasn't much of an option since the 2 that we saw seemed more focused on the bar crowd then the table crowd. Someone finally walked towards us with menus, but then another table stopped her so that was another 5 minutes till she got to us. Finally we were given menus and she said she would be right back to take our drink order.we gave 5 minutes then we got up and left. Not that we were in a rush..but either the employees are overwhelmed or they are lacking in attention. I was excited to try this place after such great reviews! I placed an (expensive) order on Seamless and 40 minutes later the wrong food was delivered to me. The restaurant was not helpful AT ALL, in fact they were really rude when I called them! I ended up spending $40 for a burger and a side that I didn't even receive. Don't order delivery from here! EDIT: An employee of the company has reached out to me and is STILL blaming Seamless - however the Seamless driver confirmed via text that they only received one order from the restaurant to deliver, which was supposed to be mine, but was an UberEats order for another customer. Clearly the bad customer service is taught from the managers to the front of staff! Thankfully Seamless has amazing customer service and they refunded the order PS: I tried the fries and chicken wings that were delivered and they were greasy to the point of being inedible, terrible food! read more

My family and I are huge fans of K&L. We eat there several times a month and order from there a few more times on top of that. But to my disappointment the last 2 times I was there I noticed the use of plastic cups for water service. If I remember correctly, it wasn't always like this. It's almost 2019, and the subject of helping the planet should not get a new one at this point and in this community. I'm beyond disheartened by this and would really like to see a change. Use glass. Reuse. If you need a dish washer, hire one. People need jobs. I really hope this happens soon so I don't need to cross K&L off my list. read more

This is the second time that I went here. I love the beers here as they brew them in the basement of this place. The flavors are brilliant and the IPA s are very good. They have rotating beers all the time and it has been a different and good experience every time! We got some chicken wings and a pretzel to eat and both of them were really good as well! Three new great things about Keg & Lantern 1. They now brew their own beer, some of which is very good indeed. 2. They now serve all the beers in imperial 20oz pints and for the same $7 3. They now have two permanent cask lines, usually with one of their own beers. Today one of the casks was their own IPA which was super with a wonderful head and delicious citrusy flavors and very well balanced. Drank it while watching La Liga football in their cosy back room. Being a brewery in New York is tough. Hell, being a brewery in Brooklyn is difficult. You have to deal with a world class brewery like Other Half, and then wonderful places like Three's, Interboro, KCBC. Hell, even Brooklyn Brewery is an institution. Keg & Lantern is a small, nondescript place right off the Nassau Ave G stop. They brew a LOT of beer, and tons of styles. Their Happy Hour prices of $5 for any draft is pretty awesome, especially considering you get a full pint for the price! Man...pints. Remember when that was a thing? Their IPAs are hoppy, fruity and cloudy. Sours have great bite. Even the grisette I tried the other night was excellent. The food is standard bar noms but, like their beer, it's on point. Any trip to Greenpoint is at least worth a happy hour (until 7pm) drop-in at Keg & Lantern. Good beer and friendly bartenders make it worth the trip. read more
